As for Halloween 2, I saw a butchered version of the original, edited for TV then had scenes added to it. It was good, and supposedly mostly the same....but in comparison to that version, the sequel was as good.

MichaelMyers

I heard there was some form of an alternate ending with the TV version.

TheOmen
12-05-2004, 06:23 PM
There is no alternate ending. Its just 12 extra minutes. The scene where Loomis is talking to the young Michael in his 'cell' is one new scene. The scene where Loomis is begging to the doctors to keep Michael there is another. Jamie Lee Curtis with the towel on her head in her living room I believe is the third and final addition.

These scenes were added for the TV version.

It's called the extended version and it's on DVD. Carpenter signed a contarct with NBC(?)so they could show it on TV in '80. I think Carpenter had to add the scenes because the movie wouldn't fill up the broadcast time since some of the violence was edited out. So while on the set of the sequel, he filmed these extra scenes. The extended version adds these scenes in , though since nothing is edited out, it makes it run longer than the original version.

I LOVED The Thing. It's my favorite Carpenter film. Haven't seen Walking Tall yet, but now I'll rent it based on your recommendation. Never saw the original either. If you belong to Netflix you can see if they have it. I've found that they have a lot of obscure and hard-to-find films. I just got Hero from Netflix, so I think I'll watch it tonight.

I don't think it's the best of the trilogy, but I did enjoy it more than the prior two, if that makes any sense. Johnny Depp alone makes it worth watching.\

Just watched Van Helsing. I liked it, probably because I was expecting rubbish. It was a fun way to waste 2 hours.

Itz definatly the best of the trilogy, IMO. All were very good though. I hated how in Desparado, they edited the flashback to have Banderas where [I forget the actor's name] was in the original.....But ya, the 1st was just all around more enjoyable. More comedy, better plot.....Definatly my favourite.

Man on Fire. (Denzel Washington)

If i'm not mistaken this is a remake of a disjointed foreign film with Scott Glenn.

For a Tony Scott film I have to say that it wasn't bad at all.

He's come a long way since the abysmal Top Gun.

The camera work and effects were at times distracting ... there was a time it worked (Denzels car ride in the end) but most of the time it was bordering on 'overdone'

still plenty of meat on the bones ... a good revenge flick.

well, believe it or not .....

i watched Gigli ...

I was curious to see how bad it was ... and i lust after Jennifer Lopez.

(i seem to be drawn to the women other people hate the most)

and to my suprise .... the movie was no better or no worse than most of the other drama/crime/comedies i've seen.

Lopez is not a bad actress .. Walken and Pachino were in it ..
I have no problem with Affleck..

I think this movie was shit on only because of the offscreen bullshit with lopez and affleck .. something i couldnt give two shits about and never use to judge a film.
I think the unpronouncable title of the film kept people away too.

Man Lopez looked gorgeous in this movie.

Badass martial arts action...all the stunts done by the actor himself, I wouldn't mind getting an OFFICIAL copy of the dvd though, because the subtitling in the version I got was SO BAD, that 90% of it was like they'd just got an english dictionary and selected random words out of it.
It's all about the fight scenes tho, I doubt the storyline was all THAT good anyway.

but apparently he was a very difficult person.

its always the comedians that have the demons. Which is probably why they feel the need to make people laugh .. to get their love and admiration ..

Yes, I saw an interview with Tom Chong after he got out of jail for selling signed bongs (apparently), It was on Leno I think...he spoke about the new movie, didn't give much detail, just that it was happening - at that point.
I know little of what's going on there, but I'd love to see another c&c film, provided it wasn't one of the shitty ones like "get out of my room", damn that SUCKED....it was just, BORING.
The two "smoke" films were pretty good, yknow, if you're in the right frame of mind.
I'd really like to see what they would do nowdays, if it would be oldskool, or be trying to compete with the endless teen comedies coming out (please dont), or a hybrid of the two...which could be ok.

Hmm....I wonder if they WILL end up making "Harold and Kumar go to Amsterdam"...

it may have suited the game but the introduction and characterization of her in the movie was awful ..

audiences are too smart for that kind of crap now ..

we already know we will have to suspend our belief with the whole zombie thing ... but at least make the characters real !

I keep coming back to this - but for good reason.

if you want greater impact from your audience you have to get them to buy into it emotionally .. and that can only be done through the characters.

This is the problem with alot of movies now. Personally I HAVE to buy into it or It can't even keep my concentration.

I was a theatre major in University, and we were taught that no matter how abstract a scene is it still has to be truthful, to win over the audience.

Hey Hatebreeder, did you see Home Alone with your kids?
Return:I did not see the three last movies with kids, but I just mostly enjoy them for the jokes and the visual effects.

The Labyrinth:80īs adventure movie with unforgetabble characters and songs.

An Amazon.com review of Barbie & The Swan Lake:

Yes, I will admit, despite being in my 20s, I still enjoy and collect animation. I have for years, and Barbie is a fairly recent discovery for me (beyond her cameos in Toy Story).

While at first I was reluctant to give any of the Barbie movies a chance, a friend of mine watched Rapunzel with her niece and insisted they were pretty good. So, renting the first two movies with a few other friends including her, we prepared ourselves for an evening of amusement. Yes, we found some things funny and still carry inside jokes based on the movies even many months after, however overall I liked them.

And Swan Lake is certainly no exception. In fact, I loved this one. The animation is very well done, and the music is just enchanting. It gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling all over. It was like I was a kid again, watching my favorite film and going back to relive the feelings years later. It even made me regret I didn't stick to those ballet lessons my mother sent me to years ago, as the dance scenes were adorable and magical. Barbie was in my life once again, only this time, I wasn't playing with dolls.

The only thing that really, truly bothered me about Swan Lake was that of Rothbart's daughter. Her laughter was incredibly irritating and distracted me from any scene in which she chose to do so. Thankfully Ivan and the other enchanted forest dwellers are a delight and make up for it.

In closing, I highly recommend this to any parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, or whoever looking for a great gift (holiday or otherwise) for a child. And perhaps even for an animation fan such as myself, if you aren't too afraid.

I went and saw The Incredibles today...
Funny fucking movie, excellent action sequences - I'd say this one gives the recent marvel films run for their money.
See it.

I'd reccomend the Incredibles, and I HAAAATE most kids/kid-compatable films.
I'd wait til the primary school holidays are over though...the place was packed with the annoying little bastards.

Michael mann's underrated "Thief".
Very funny to see Dennis Farina and William Peterson in tiny roles, peterson's is microscopic!

thief is a fine movie ..
mann using Tangerine Dream again for the score ..
He is one of the few directors that understands how
get as much drama out of the music as he does the
rest of the film elements..

"National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" - Calssic seasonal slice of comic Americana.

urgeok: Agreed. I love the use of music to add to the emotional impact. The tiger/love making scenes in "Manhunter" spring to mind as does the stunning chase/lost love battle on the mountain pass sequence in "Last of the Mohican's".

The Beyind (Fulchi)

i guess i liked them both - but they each drove me nuts as well
Especially the Zombie shooting scenes in The Beyond.

normally i love italian zombie movies .. but i found this one made no sense - at any time whatsoever .

I'll watch it again and like it more because I'll know what to expect but holy crap ... what was Fulchi thinking ?

the big opening shot of the boats coming silently to the house via the water .. then up drive 2 cars ?

the fake spiders mixed in with the tarantulas ...

the dead girl/living girl with the eyes ?

and the shootings

oh speaking of the cellar .. i liked the leak 5 feet high on the cellar wall... where the water was a foot deep on the other side.

I can take style over substance .. but when a film continues to make no sense whatsoever.. i lose interest.

LOL....I just watched that movie a couple of weeks ago and was thinking the same thing...Shoot them in the head asshole....

I watched Equilibrium for the first time last night......what a good fucking movie. The gun play could most definately give any John Woo movie a run for its money.Pretty good story as well.

i LOVE equilibrium ..

if you had of told me before i saw it that a movie that was basically farenheight 451 meets brave new world with some matrix meets John Woo gunplay staring christian Bale as a hero (up til then he's been a prick in his films) i would have said THAT WILL SUCK.

I saw it without knowing anything about it and it blew me away ..

great film.

If you wanna know how he is going to be in the new Batman than rent the aforementioned "Equilibrium". If its any indication, there will be no worrys for the future of Batman.

last night i watched The Vampire Effect.

a horror/action/comedy/romance Hong Kong film.

Hong Kong - neck and neck with Bollywood when it comes to mixing film genres.
What a western director might do in an experimental surreal film, these Eastern guys do routinely.

Anyway .. it had the standard silly clingy romance angle that HK girls love but there were a couple of fun action scenes. Jackie Chan had a bit roll and was in a funny fight scene with a couple of vampires which eventually broke down into a lame comedy bit.

Anyway .. it was pretty dumb but entertaining in a cotton candy kind of way.

Balto 2 - Wolf Quest: Dances With Wolf-Dogs!
Balto and Jennaīs daugther runs away, and Balto who has mysterious dreams finds her, and joins a wolf dog clan.
A blend but good sequel with Blueberry like surrealistic scenes and native American music. :ticket:
