Hostage - Not bad, but nothing spectacular either. Sort of a typical Bruce Willis is the cop that gets put into a tight situation kinda movie. There's some cool action but overall it was a bit run of the mill... I'd give it a C+.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory - Visually awesome, but I never got used to the voice that Depp used for Wonka. It was like a grown man trying to sound like a little girl or something. Anyways, I think it followed the book a bit closer than the Gene Wilder version, but I still like the original version better. I'd give it a B-.

Last night/this morning I watched:

Evil Dead II (once with commentary, once without)

NOTLD (I watched the color version for about 30 seconds and felt wrong, so I switched it back..)

and then these, which I hadn't seen before:

Good Against Evil (1977) It was ok...

Silent Night, Bloody Night (1973) That one was a little better than GAE

Kill, Baby, ...Kill! (1966) This movie, I dug a LOT. I think it's an Italian film, set in Transylvania. Some beautiful shots in this one.. if anyone knows where theres a really good transfer of this one, lemme know! :D

I thought this movie was suppose to be really good. I was disappointed with the whole plot. I saw too many similarities to the matrix. And it gets kinda boring to see the same backdrop of trees all the time. The martial arts were good but not good enough to fix its flaws.

This afternoon, I watched a great 40's mad scientist flick, The Monster Maker. Good, if predictable, plot...the acting was on par for the most part, and a bit better than expected from certain players. I thought it was great!

Now, I just got home from Fantastic Four, and I really cant see why everyone hates it. I thought it was great! Sure, there were some little plot wholes. Sure, Jessica Alba was TERRIBLE. Yes, they completly slaughtered the origins of Dr. Doom[But Ill let that slide cause he was still damn cool:)] And the script was bad too, but I think intentional. Ever read an old comic book? Case in point. The cast, in general, was good, with the exception of Alba. Way to young. Chiclas [sp?] was perfect, Gruffudd [sp? again] was pretty good, and Chris Evans was an awesome Human Torch. And as I mentioned, they slaughtered Doom's character/origins, but McMahon was still very good, and despite being massivly changed, the character was still damn cool [Espically at the end;)]

Overall, I was impressed:D

see, I didn't think alba's acting was bad. I just thought that there were a lot of other things wrong. The movie lost all footing with me at the bridge scene. Why did the IW have to go invisible to get the rest of them across to where the thing was? They just cut to them on the other side.. that was too much for me.

I agree with you about the intentional comic like script now that you bring it up.

BUT, wouldn't it suck if a comic was printed as though it had a few pages ripped out of it at random?

thats how the movie felt to me.

I'm just too bitter! haha I'm glad you enjoyed it though.:D

Beyond the Sea. Despite the fact that Spacey was too old for the role he really did manage to pull it off. Nice vocals. Of course, Kate Bosworth was just annoying.....and it was a tad sentimental for my taste. But pretty good overall, I guess, particularly if you are a Bobby Darin fan. I know next to nothing about him myself.

King Arthur ..

was way better than i expected. (from the cover art - and having heard nothing about it - i was expecting a teenage romance version)

it had a couple of out of place comic relief moments that were unneccessary but for the most part the film was pretty good.

Clive Owen (i think thats his name) was a pretty compelling lead ...
reminded me of Russell Crowe in Gladiator ..

I liked Mads Mikkelsen. The danish contribution.... Of course. :D

Other than that i only found it fairly entertaining. Somehow i missed something supernatural in the story. Donīt know why?

That's easy! Because all the famous parts of the tale, and basically all the best bits of the tale, ARE supernatural.
Take away the mythology from the story and you don't have much story.

not so much match up -
i just found his performance reminded me of 'gladiator' .. a strong leader of men .. played convincingly ..

i also thought it was funny how everyone looked like a member of a metal band ...

Requim for a Dream

I never saw this movie until last night. This movie is powerful and very disturbing. The acting was great. The plot was fascinating. Phenomenal camera work. I highly recommend this movie to people who like to see a movie about the grim reality of drug abuse. I dont think there is a better movie that depicts drug abuse. This movie stays with you even after you see it. 10/10

Fantastic Four. 7/10.
Visually brilliant, great soundtrack.
Most accurate: The Thing
Great dialogue, and the ball-busting between the thing and the torch was done to perfection.
A lot of time spent building up the storyline and history, not too heavy on the action surprisingly.
Felt a LOT like the comic, came across like it ended much too quickly, but...overall, pleasing enough...

Balto II - Wolf Quest

Well made DTV sequel to the original animated Balto movie from 1995, but the con is the blend character animation, and a worn out story, as the pro is the Inuit music, and the images who are like taken out of a Urban Trad, or Enigma music video.

Beside the cheap character animation is there some nice 2D/3D background animation of Alaskaīs wilderness, and shamanic dream sequences.

I was born in Greenland, and the movie, including Light Of The Heart (Lysets Hjerte) wanted me to go back there on a vacation if it wasnīt so far away.

If you have missed both the animated Pocahontas movies, skip them, and go for the real thing here!

Everytime I watch this, I see it differently. The 1st time, I was only 8-9 and it scared the living hell outta me. Acting was good, music was cool, new characters were cool and of course Otis,Spaulding and Baby were still cool and funny as hell(and needless to say Sheri Moon was hotter than the Sahara).

To say Mother Firefly was a disappointment is being a bit picky imo but I just think she coulda been better, I had no problem with her lines it was the acting, she wasn't as believable as the other Fireflys.

Overall I thought it was really good and the last scene was a very fitting and cool ending.

Pretty cool apocalypse/good vs. evil type movie. Almost seemed like somewhat of a blend between two of Keanu Reeve's better movies, The Devils Advocate and The Matrix. Good effects, good action, complex storyline. I wouldn't mind seeing it again to get some of the finer points of the story down. B

Urban Legends 3: Bloody Mary

Ugh. I had a feeling this was gonna suck and I was right. This franchise has never been my favorite, but it's going in the wrong direction. Low budget, majority of gore off-screen, stupid non-sensical plot make this straight-to-video one to avoid. D-

Friday The 13th 4: The Final Chapter

One of the better films out of this series, but that's not saying it's not a pretty formulated 80's slasher flick. Lots of boobs and bodycount, but not a ton of onscreen gore. Crispin Glover's dancing makes this one worthwhile on it's own but Corey Feldman turns in a good performance too. B

agreed...pretty good this one

The Fearless Four (Die Furchtlosen Vier) 9 / 10

If Kolya wasn't nominated for the Oscar for Best Foreign Feature, should the 2D/3D animated The Fearless Four from Germany had been nominated instead.
The English dub includes Zucchero, James Ingram, Oleta Adams and B.B. King.
Luciano Pavarotti is having a very short song, as a singer from the German rock band PUR is starring in the original version, and the instrumental score is by Peter Wolf.
There is something for every music taste in this movie, and there is both classical, opera, blues, schlager, techno, ballet, rock and pop.

Urban Legend:Bloody Mary-3/10, Didnt' care for it that much but the guys seemed to enjoy it which isn't saying much since they also liked House of the Dead.

Constantine-6.5/10, Second time viewing since I saw it in the theatre and it was just as enjoyable as it was then. It's a fun, just average film to watch...I am kinda getting tired of seeing Keanu save the world though.

talk like a guy who smokes all the time - and he figured Eastwood
would be the perfect model ..

It was a pretty funny movie. I thought Vince Vaughn was funny but he really stepped it up in this movie. And Rachel McAdams! What a babe!! Lot of nudity for a comedy too.

"Scarface" BrianDe Palma.....nice sleazy ganster movie with lot of 80's feel in it....the 80's pop music sucks...but fits nice here

Domestic Disturbance- 6/10, Travolta and Vaughn were good, I found the story/plot a little boring. I guess I would categorized it as watchable.

This is the second time I've seen Vince Vaughn in a role where he had a screw loose and I think he did pretty damn good on both occasions. I think he'd do really well in a big role.(he'd make a pretty good joker imo)

Shallow Ground. It was fairly decent plotwise, I thought, but most definitely had plenty of weak spots (acting, dialogue, some of it was poorly um, executed....:p). But really it was better than I expected it would be. And it was good to see Richie again (fans of Highlander the series know who I am talking about).

I mentioned it elsewhere but I'll also confess it here :o

Last night I watched Pauly Shore Is Dead - - - and it was utter and total shit. I had watched his new pseudo-reality tv show about him runnig some comedy bar and it was fairly funny. So, wife and I decided to rent the movie. God it was awful.

The only really funny bit is in the extras where there's a documentary thing about him screening the film for college students at some Cal State campus - the great part is that after the film is show and the lights come up almost 90% of the audience has left. A true testament to the film's merit.
