That bad huh? I've avoided it for a long time. Can't see Nic Cage pulling off Johnny Blaze, that goofy looking retard looks like he'd trip over his own shoelaces let alone ride a motorbike.

Dig this film a lot and the Blue Underground edition of the DVD is solid.
What ever happened to Katherine Bigelow? This one and Near Dark are criminally underrated films of the 80s.

I've always been pretty impartial towards Batman Beyond...I always enjoyed it just because I'm a rabid Bat-fan, but never found it to be anything really special.

This (almost) feature length episode, on the other hand, was incredible. Right up there with some of the very best episodes from the original B:TAS. Highly recommended for any fans of the animated Batman, even if you'd already dismissed Batman Beyond.

"Mask of the Phantasm" is the best. "SubZero" doesn't really have the atmosphere of the animated series, but it's worth a watch. "Return of the Joker" was great. "Mystery of the Batwoman" I haven't seen yet.

In terms of shows. I hate "The Batman", the newer animated series. With their Rasta Joker, goth Riddler, and anorexic Harley. Their was a movie of that called "Batman vs Dracula" that i haven't watched.

Return of the Joker isn't very new anyway...came out in '99, I believe.

Haven't seen any of the BTAS movies since they very first came out, so I can't really compare...but this is easily on par with the episodes of the original series.

Batman Beyond - the series that RotJ is spunoff from - is decent...really cool concept, but it isnt always executed as well as it could be. Plots are usually good, but some of the villains are lame.

he newest animated series, "The Batman" gets really mixed opinions...personally, I think its a damn cool take on him, but a lot of people (like MM up there) absolutely hate it. I'd say check out an episode or two and see what you think.

....

I'll admit that Riddler became rather fag-tastic...but I actually kind of like their take on The Joker *ducks tomatoes*. It's obviously not on par with the Mark Hamill version, but I kind of like it anyway - not as suave or as cool, but twice as crazy. I like a little variety in my Jokers, haha.

And - from a purely visual standpoint - Freeze looks 110% badass:

New Freeze:

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i94/Vampenguin/MrFreeze.gif

...now really, just try to tell me that the fool in the bubble looks better than the badass update. I'll admit that the old series did a better job with the character itself - it just doesn't get much better than Heart of Ice - but aesthetically, the new version kicks his chilly ass.

WOW - probably the most fun I've had watching a movie in ages. Easily up there with the best superhero flicks to date...fantastic.

Not sure what I thought of the ending though (Spoilers Ahead - Highlight to read):

IMO, an Avengers movie could be pretty hit-or-miss...on one habd, it would be incredible to get all of those characters together on film, but might it be overkill? Plus, I really could care less about seeing Hank Pym or The Wasp...decent characters, but way too "comic book"-y for the silver screen, IMO.

But, yeah...great movie.

Onibaba (1964)

Christ, this is fantastic filmmaking. If not already seen, I highly recommend this to Rod, V, fortunato, neverending, Return, and anybody else in the mood for simplisitic folk storytelling with some genuinely frightening, stark imagery and a blisteringly chilling climax.

Fantastic is right. A very chilling storyline dotted with jealousy and fear, genuinely frightful and dense moments involving *POSSIBLE SPOILER* the mother and her mask, and a killer climactic ending.

Absolutely fabulous movie. One of the early horror movies which covers all seven golden sins.

The Forbidden Kingdom - 8/10 Story was kind of kiddish - Kid gets sucked into an alternate dimension to fulfill some profecy, while becoming stronger along the way, while defeating an evil overlord. So the plot is kinda overused. Jet Li and Jackie Chan made some great fight scenes, and I got to see one of my favorite fighting styles used by jackie chan again, The Drunken Fist. The movie reminds me alot of this one kiddish movie with like kungfu kangaroos or something(they weren't kangaroos, just looked like it), I can't remember what it was called. Not the best, worth a rent, maybe a buy if you're into Jackie Chan or Jet Li movies.

So once upon a time Crabs told me this was a fun flick, and, having a lot of stock in the fella's opinion, I ordered it. It's been sitting on my shelf waiting for the perfect night. Tonight was the night!

This was a great, romping, railroad-ride of a horror movie with plenty of trans-siberian terror and one hell of a fun cast! I'm very glad I made the trip; a sincere thank you to Crabapple for the recommendation!

There's lots being said about this film both good and bad from about every media outlet you can imagine. I'm not going to bore you with the same hackneyed speeches and reviews you can get everywhere else. Early 80s giallo from Lamberto Bava. Has its fair share of flaws and red herrings, but a more than decent effort. Neat kills (not many but the few which are in are superb), chilling score and good direction and characterisation. The two things which are a setback - the pacing and the length (needed better editing work), and the score towards the end, which was rather obnoxious.

A must-see for any giallo fan. I recommend it.

This was nominated for best picture? Yes, the acting is solid, the costuming is great, the cinematography and camera are fantastic, the sets and art direction are epic and beautiful. but...

I don't buy it.
Not one beat.
NO ONE would behave as these characters do.
The devices that move the plot forward are ridiculous in the extreme.

Add to this the constant flashbacks that completely destroy all sense of flow and you get a poorly paced, poorly written adaptation of a novel about the misdeeds of a young girl written by an old man who clearly neither empathises with nor seems to even care for his characters. The story tries (and fails) to be clever.

Oh and the fucking title of the film is Atonement... which the young girl never once comes close to acheiving, but still proudly declares that she has.

It was fun! It was very fun. I actually liked Shia Laboeuf's character in this one, which is a first. It had a bunch of throwbacks to the originals, and some of the scenes were laugh out loud funny. The action was very spectacular, in the style of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, the goofy yet violent style. My only beef with this movie is the ending. It kinda kills it. Too sudden. There's a part near the end where things get a bit ridiculous, but it's still "ok." Definitely worth a trip to the theater. You won't be bored.

Alright, I've seen a lot of comments saying Teeth was "dumb" and I want to clarify this. Don't Go in the House

Guy was burnt by his mother when he did things wrong as a child. When his ageing mother dies he is tipped into frank psychosis, and starts luring girls to his place to burn them. He then keeps their charred corpses around the house, dresses them in his mother's clothing.

I actually found this film pretty good. It is not as brutal or disturbing as its 'video nasty' heritage would have one believe. The acting was also quite reasonable given the low budget nature of the film.

napoleon dynamite, billy madison, and jay and silent bob strike back are the 3 films that make me laugh as hard every time i see them, as the 1st time.

I've liked Sandler since I can remember and Kevin Smith is my favorite filmmaker. But I cannot STAND Napoleon Dynamite. It gets on my nerves for some reason.

It was a "I had fun while watching it but looking back it was really, really bad" d'oh".

In other words, I have no reason to ever watch it again, but it was fun for a one-time viewing.

A fucked up tripy b grade movie, it may be strange, but one of my faveorite things about it was a shot of traffic showing the tail lights and the city in the distance in lighting that was so realistic I felt I was there.

Living Hell - 7/10 worth the watch, the movie is based on an overused concept, but its pulled off nicely, the special effects(mainly the cgi) aren't really that good, but its worth a watch.

Yup, pretty positive feedback here.
It was funny but not over the top with it, a good "adventure" and a throwback to the "fantastic" kind of adventure films of old.
And, in my opinion one of the best fights of an Indy film yet.
Fans of the series, I do not think this will disappoint, I mean hey it's better'n temple.

What about Bob
The chick hadn't seen it so I threw in the videotape I got super cheap.
Still worth a chuckle, and an enjoyable film.
I wanna see "the man who knew too little" again now.

Doomsday,

While I was a little dissapointed, I didn't have the highest of hopes. I would have liked to have seen more origanality in the way of the survivors. Post apocalyptic punks and period costumes didn't thrill me that much. The soundtrack bugged me a little as well, but it was fun.

I'm Not There

Todd Haynes falls into that category of filmmakers whom I respect but don't always enjoy. I loved Superstar and enjoyed Poison. I found Safe to be too slow and Velvet Goldmine to be a weak take on a splendid era of music. Far From Heaven was a splendid homage to the films of Douglas Sirk and his latest, I'm Not There is a biopic about Dylan, but then again, it isn't.

The concept is grand. Multiple actors protray Bob Dylan at different stages of his life to illustrate how a creative chameleon evolves. But Haynes also chooses to call each incarnation by a different name - some cultural touchstones (Woody Guthrie, Arthur Rimbaud, Billy the Kid) some obsure references (Jack Rollins) and some just seemingly out-of-the blue (Jude Quinn, Robbie Clark.) This disjointed story-telling is interesting, but devoid of connection. I felt nothing for any of these characters - I enjoyed watching the nuanced performances, but there was no emotrional connection to mr Dylan.

You could argue that's the point - and given the title of the film, I'd agree, but it still felt like a hollow exercise nonetheless.

I respect the effort and artistry, by remain unmoved and generally disinterested.
