Day of the Dead 2: Contagium
All I can say is... Wow too! I can not believe this movie somehow had rights to using the name Day of the Dead and was allowed to try to pass itself off as a sequel to the Romero masterpiece!
The first five minutes of the movie seemed promising enough, then we were treated approx. an hour of B quality acting with horrible characters, no zombies, no seemingly relevant storyline and no sort of action whatsoever. They try to make up for lost hour of our life by cramming some "gore" into the last twenty minutes of the film but it's far too little too late.
Terrible acting, characters, storyline, plot, direction, lack of zombies and some seriously low budget gore make me wonder how this particular film got itself in any way attached to the franchise Romero made legendary.
D-
On the whole,I've seen worse horror films, but if you're going to be naming yourself Day of the Dead 2, you should at least attempt to live up to at least one standard Romero set.
The Santa Clause 2
Meh. Not horrible. Not great. Not as good as the first one, but still a pretty decent sequel.

Personally, I think Jaws is one of the most overrated films of all time. Havent bothered to see the sequels, but the first was boring as hell until the last like 10-15 min. The shark didnt look realistic at all, and the plot was pretty contrived. In my opinion, that is, but to each their own...

It wouldnt have seemed as conrived if it hadnt tried to be believable. The fact that the shark always showed up at the perfect time and place was my major grievance with the plot. I mean, in a slasher movie or something, you can get away with that, but in a film that goes to the limits trying to be realistic? No thanks.
Keep in mind that I never said it was a BAD film. It did have it's moments [Frreding frenzy at the beach, Ending], however I found it boring for the most part and the failed attempts at reallism were bothersome.

I bought the unrated directors uncut edition, and all you get is a wired off head, a wired off foot and alot of needles, no blood. Im kinda upset because Ive been hereing how gory this film is. Santa's Slay
An enjoyable flick which has Bill Goldberg playing Santa, Satan's son. Santa lost a bet to an angel and had to be good for 1000 years. Well, 1000 years are up, and Santa is doing some last minute holiday slaying. Low on gore, some nudity, but pretty cool & unigue deaths, and cameos by Chris Kattan and James Caan (I was shocked as hell to see him). Oh, and a cameo by that chick who played The Nanny on the tv show The Nanny.

This is a review of the UNRATED version!!!
The slasher genre is now being taken seriously (sob) as the makers of the film try to tkae the genre's stupidity (not an insult) and make a smart slasher. Good idea, but wasn't played out well.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose
This is a review of the UNRATED version!!!
In The Exorcist of Emily Rose, we're taken through the court ruling of Emily Rose's exorcism, with flashbacks of what happened to Emily. I hated this film! First off, the whole "court ruling/flashback" thing didn't work at all. Also, the Devil didn't feel evil here. It just felt like he was taunted Emily the whole time, instead of torturing her (like he did to Regan in The exorcist). I gave up about an hour into the film!

Four Brothers
Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre Benjamin, and Garrett Hedlund play four adopted brothers who's mother just died. They go back to their hometown to bury their mother, only to find out that her death was a set-up, a murder. So, they set out to find the killers and bury them too.
Four Brothers was a great movie! Good action (not overdone), great acting (Wahlberg stole the show once again) and even emotional at times (nothing to cry over, but you felt really bad for these guys and the actors' performances really helped the film emotionally). A must-see!
Rebound
Martin Lawrence plays as a cocky, arrogant College Basketball coach who gets fired after flipping out on the referee and accidentally kills the team's bird. So, to get back on the spot, he goes back to his old Middle School where he became a basketball protege to teach the school's team. Only problem is, the team don't know a thing about teamwork or the game of basketball itself!
Another one of those family films where *SPOILER* the main character only thinks about himself in the beginning of the film, but at the end is a heartwarming guy.

Bad Santa
After seeing Badder Santa, this version seems kinda tame by comparison, but it's still a really funny movie overall. Thornton's great, Bernie Mac is funny as usual, and the midget's funny and that kid is a fuckin' riot!
All in all, very crass humor so it's not for everyone, but it's a funny film if you don't mind the vulgarities.

Now if that isnt the perfect movie to watch on a snowy Christmas Eve, tell me what is. I was quite surprised by this movie, it was actually really enjoyable. Definatly more of a comedy, but it's freakin hilarious [Capt. Caulks? Hahahahahahaha!!!]. The kills were totally over-the-top, not very gory but still pretty cool. Lots of Christmas related humor and Santa is FULL of one-liners and catch phrases.
Overall, Id say if you're looking for a light-hearted, original horror/comedy for Christmas Eve...Go for it!

John Carpenter's The Thing -10/10- For about the 50th time. I fucking love this movie, it's one of my all time favorites. I think the atmosphere makes it so creepy and different, and the acting is superb. And yes, the FX might look a little cheezy to some, but I think they're sick and awesome.
Bad Taste -6/10- First time. It was good...but it wasn't great. And it certainly wasn't on par with Dead Alive. Some good gore and some good laughs, but a little slow at times, and at others just dull. I will say that the vomit-drinking part almost made me chuck, and the sheep part was hil-fucking-arious.
Office Space -10/10- For probably the 5th time. This movie is the definition of a perfect comedy. Hilarious every time you watch it, and the characters are all connectable in their own ways. I just bought the "W/ Flair" version, too, and it's a great package for the price you pay.

This movie gets funnier every time I watch it. This movie was lacking everything; production quality, anything remotely resembling decent acting, a good script, a budget... You name, this one didn't have it. Except for Shannon Elizabeth in what must have been one of her first roles... It did have that.
Really bad. If not for a few corny one-liners that weer kinda dunny, it woulda got an F for sure.

Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman
Well, here's a sequal that was better than the original. Instead of trying to make a scary horror movie about a fluffy white snomwman (like the first one tried to do), this one embraced the cheesiness of the lame ass killer and it worked out better. The acting and plot still sucked but it had a funnier script and way better gore (Although not great, just way better than the first one.)

The 40 Year Old Virgin
Word of mouth got around on this one that it was a fresh new comedy and word of mouth was right! Witty, original and superbly cast and acted, this might be on it's way to breaking in to the ranks of my top 10 comedy list after another viewing or two.
Very entertaining.

Looney Tunes: Reality Check
"21 Newly Made Cartoons". Disgraceful. The animation looked like it was made in Flash, the actors doing the voices were awful [Esp. Tweety and Bugs], absolutly nothing like real Looney Tunes. I laughed once or twice, I guess, but overall it wasnt even up to Space Jam standards, which is saying something....

Pretty good film. The robberies got a tad repetitive, and the story dragged in places, but it kept my interest. Tom Jane was great, as was the rest of the cast. Overall, I enjoyed it, and will likely watch it again.

Over-rated and too long in my opinion. This is a classic Christmas tale that seems to show it's age as it is simply far too uninteresting for me every time I see it.
C [QUOTE]
Wow. To each his own, but...wow. I think just the opposite, this movie only improves with time, and I love watching this, not as a Christmas tradition, but as a brilliant movie all around- great acting, great pacing and great directing. One of the greatest movies ever made, but that's one man's opinion.
Last night I watched War of the Worlds (2005). Very good, especially the second time. Not a movie I would have bought on my own, although I saw it and liked it in theaters, but I got it as a gift and am glad of it. I do think this movie really does a great job of bringing out a crazy blend of emotions.

Creep. Eh, it was pretty decent. Franka Potente's character seemed to be some sort of harbinger of death, as nearly everyone she spoke to in the movie ended up being killed. Kind of silly in places, but not bad. 6/10

Just watched "toolbox murders", I guess it was the remake, it seemed fairly recent, it was just on in the background...didn't seem that great.
Son of the Mask - My expectations were so low that this seemed much better than I thought it would be. Interesting development of the mythology behind the various comic/s/movies...completely different kind of film to the first one, while not as good, was still alright.

Great fun...for those of you that can deal with subtitles, it's worth a watch, definately. Nice blend of action and comedy, actually had me laughing out loud, so seldom for a comedy these days.
Definately Gérard Depardieu in his most likeable role (IMO)...damn, I finally start to like the guy, and he announces his retirement from acting, I'll have to check out more of his french titles. Jean Reno as dour and dry as usual, on par with most of his comedy film career, he's also very funny here. The two actually make a great pairing in this almost anti "buddy" film.
For fans of either actor, you won't be dissapointed.

Today I watched:
Grizzly Man, Werner Herzog's documentary about Timothy Treadwell. If you don't know, Treadwell was a... researcher, of sorts... who lived with wild grizzly bears for thirteen summers. In the end, a bear killed and ate him, and his girlfriend. Using Treadwell's own footage (the man obsessively recorded himself) Herzog paints a compelling picture of a deeply disturbed man. Highly recommended. 9/10
Bloodline, a rather interesting slasher flick. The big twist at the ending was a nice touch, but it won't come as too much of a surprise. 6/10

Couldn't watch it, just like parts of Cannibal Holocuast. The rape scenes are far too horrific in their own sense. Couldn't live with myself if I did watch them >_<
I just finished The Descent. Here's what I blogged about it:
"Note to self; Don't ever FUCKING go into a cave. This movie, even temporary, has made me afraid of the dark. I have lived to see a true horror movie, and it's one of the best. I walked into this hearing only good things, but I was not enthusiatic about viewing it - that quickly changed. It's a genious film, and I'm guessing my heart stopped about 9 times, and I swore outloud just as much as the characters did. Wow. The special effects were top-notch, and the 'monster' wasn't CGI! Props to that, it was SO well done - every detail. Looked so real. The gore was also very well done, though it wasn't the main focus. It was a film that might confuse you, as it's underground in a dark cave, incoherent surroundings - some of the frames were impossible to see because it was engulfed in pure black. Atmosphere though, that's what it was. The frames you couldn't see anything in, you weren't meant to. Definately watch it, The Cave is just an american rip-off. Why are all good horror movies foriegn? Because Hollywood has discovered horror, and cheerleading schoolgirls have become it's biggest fan."

Yeah, I gotta admit, that movie was quite raw. But then again, it's a movie, it's acting. But ya gotta appericiate how girl served her rapists with savage revenge. The 'dismember scene' was extremely brutal. In fact, that scene is almost as harsh as the scene in "Cannibal Ferrox".

I just saw Wolf Creek last night.
Ehhhh...it was aalllright, I guess. A LOT of buildup for not very much reward. I thought the acting was pretty damn good by all the characters. When one of them (I won't spoil who) was being killed, her screams were so real and horrifying that it kind of added to how disturbing the scene was. I think we're all completely de-sensitized from watching horror movies, but performances like hers can kind of snap us back for a moment.
Storyline was just decent, though. Killer wasn't all that scary of a person, I think it's better to NOT reveal who the killer is until maybe the end.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose [Unrated version, if there's any difference]
I was truly surprised by this film. I was expecting typical Hollywood horror garbage, but instead got a smart coutroom drama, with only some elements of horror. Being a huge fan of courtroom dramas, I thought this film was very well done, however it suffered for every minute spent out of court. Emily herself was annoying [to say the least], but the rest of the cast was pretty good, esp. Campbell Scott and Tom Wilkinson.
Overall, Id say dont pass on this just because it looks like typical Hollywood crap. It has some elements of Hollywood crap, but all-in-all, it's a good film.

The Cave
There's no point in mincing words here. The Cave is a terrible movie; indeed, it's one of the worst I've ever seen. It's been a while since I've seen a movie that actually made me angry, but this one did it. What was so frustrating is that there was the seed of a good movie in there. Unfortunately, the inept direction and wooden script make this one a turkey, not to mention the dubious acting skills of Cole Hauser and Piper Perabo. The whole film had a slapdash and shoddy quality that rendered it nearly unwatchable.
In conclusion: Fuck The Cave. I hated this movie. 0.5/10

I put off watching this for about a week because I was busy and just didn't have much interest, but once I got around to watching it, it was pretty good. McGregor, Buscemi and Michael Clarke Duncan are all real good in this and the storyline is just twisted and cool. This film explores the possibilities of what could go wrong with human cloning 50-100 years down the road and to be honest, it doesn't seem that far fetched.
All in all, it's a good futuristic sci-fi clone film that I'd recommend to anyone who likes a good futuristic movie or any sci-fi nuts.

Back a few years, the studio paid a director to make a prequel to The Exorcist. They had a script, actors, and a decent budget. He set fof to due this, made it, but ultimately the studio decided not to release it because of some reason, probably thinking it did not live up to the series/was bad. Later in time, they used the same script, got a new director, and made "The Beginning", and actually released it as being the prequel. A lawsuit was made by the older director and the studio was forced to release his version as well. So, Dominion was born. Same script ultimately, a few of the same actors, same location - different director.

So is that the same exact movie as "Exorcist Beginning" or as an unrated version?
no, this was the original version that the studio didn't like so they rewrote and reshot the whole film

King Kong [2005]
Coming out of this movie, I was totally speechless. This is an incredible movie, stat to finish. It does drag in bit in places, and a few scenes went on too long [T-Rex fight], but those minor bits dont detract at all from this film. The actors were great, the effects were absolutly incredible [Goes without saying, of course]. If you havent seen this yet...Go! GO RIGHT THIS SECOND!!

Wolf Creek
I was all hyped up to see Hostel, but of course the theaters in my crappy small town didn't get it. So I went for the next best thing. I thought Wolf Creek was okay. Not outstanding, but a pretty good time. Overall: 7/10

welcome to the club...
You saw Boogeyman and havent seen Saw 2 and TDR.... Havent you seen all the warnings about how horrible Boogeyman was?? I wish that I havent wasted 2 hours of my life on Boogeyman. One of the worst movies that I ever saw. Watch the alternate endings and it turns into a comedy.

*Cry_Wolf- Suck fest.
*Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2- A little less of a suck fest, but still a suckfest, nevertheless.
*Hard Day's Night- A great movie. I love it every time I watch it. Even if you aren't a Beatles fan, I think you'd still enjoy this movie.

It's kind of crap actually, but something about sea monster movies just sucks me in. I'm terrified of the ocean and many things that live in it (especially those with tentacles *shudder*) so I suppose it's a way for me to exorcise my fears.

Undercover Brother - If you can deal with the kinda stupid generalisations, it's actually not too bad, turned out a lot funnier than I was expecting...yknow, not comedy gold, but it was alright.
Van Helsing - The London Assignment - Not a bad peice of animation, wouldn't mind seeing a few more ven helsing stories in the animated format, not that I ever will...

2/10
hated it completely... everything about it SUCKS.
especially jasons rednecky retard face.
Hostel---- 7/10..... Its not really scary at all but has some nice torture scenes if you like that sort of stuff. The plot was good, acting was good, plenty of sex and boobs, funny at times.... Its def worth a look when it comes out on DVD though.

Quiz Show
After seeng this show, for the first time in my life I have an overwhelming urge to see Forest Gump. Why did Quiz Show inspire me to watch Forest Gump? Cause the movie that beat this out for Best Picture in '95 damn well better be some kind of masterpiece. This film completly blew me away...Fiennes and Turturro at the top of their games, great plot, very well written...easily one of my new favourites.

Dreamcatcher
Seen plenty of films based on his writing, but I've never been a fan. His unique quirk in terms of characters and their development at the beginning of the film just doesn't appeal to me. So it was quite difficult to get past the first five minutes or so.
Terrificante notte del demonio, La
An interesting replacement with beautiful set pieces and location shots trying, though not very successfully, to make up for its lack in story and dialogue executed by average actors. Save for the succubus creature who manages a convincing beautiful scare.
