Lemora:a Child's Tale of the Supernatural
Really engrossing and ethereal with a creepy hint of pedophilia. I was a little annoyed by the way the Netflix review described the lead Vampiress as "lesbian" when she preyed on every age and sex equally. All in all a good film. 7/10

Eraserhead
After it put me to sleep 3 times, I finally finished Eraserhead and I gotta say I thought it sucked! What a boring and pointless piece of crap! I hate watching a film and then feeling like I just wasted a couple hours of my life afterwards and that is how I feel about this one. It gave me nothing. I don't like movies that are weird just for the sake of being weird. There's no real gore, the story purposely makes no sense, and it just was not entertaining in the slightest. I hated it and it's heading to the bottom of my list where I keep Phantasm, Fulci and all the other over-rated films and directors so I remember not to watch them ever again.
D-
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think Uwe Boll makes more entertaining movies than David Lynch does. Yikes!
Despite the argued symbolism in that particular film you can't say that Lynch's movies are all like Eraserhead and that he's a boring director. Even a pedestrian movie goer can find some of his works entertaining, like Blue Velvet for example. Uwe Boll compared to Lynch... now I've heard everything.
Damn...I haven't watched a decent horror movie in weeks.

No, Uwe Boll makes less intelligent films.
But I guess if you don't like using your brain...
Go watch Mulholland Dr.
There is a level of intelligence in that film that I haven't seen before.

The Quiet B
This film featured a very unique concept that offered a lot of promise, and had a handful of scenes that had equally interesting concepts behind them... unfourtunately, it wasn't executed as well as it could have been. I believe it could have been a lot more dramatic, as it has enough material to set up countless "twists" and "cliffhanger scenes". It would add a sense of adrenaline to the film. The setting is destinctively dark, very little lighting being used, and metaphors (such as the lighting) are scattered throughout. The most obvious being the house in repair representing the work that needs to be done in the family unit. They also need repairing. It's one of those films that deals with a controversial issue, and doesn't downplay anything (including high school life... it's not all bunnies and rainbows; the cheerleaders are big sluts) So here's a B for The Quiet... for offering great concepts, just not knowing how to execute them, and for showing my perhaps Camilla Bell has SOME acting talent. (Though the acting of the two female leads weren't that great anyway)

I really liked the original and high hopes for theis because it was written and directed by Jack Scholder. Not as good as the first and some really crap CGI effects ruined it for me (the locusts scene just made me shake my head). Still this was good fun and had a couple of great moments.... worth the $2 I spent on it.

Candy, It's based on a novel of the same name. It's about a couple of junkies who live in Sydney, I haven't read the book but i'm aware of it, the movie was pretty good, you couldn't help but laugh at the junkies somtimes, and then others times look staright in the dark and empty lives they ocupie.

Calvaire (The Ordeal) -- This is one crazy movie, and I'm not really sure whether I liked it. man, what a disappointment.
mainly because of one thing ... the kid working at moobys .. what a scene killer .. horrible horrible horrible performance. why it was left in is beyond me.
Randal works better in black and white too .. he just wasnt effective in this (except the dramatic parts where he was actually pretty good)
Jay was the highlight as usual - the guy can do no wrong.
Also the 'boss' of Moobys - she was fantastic.
1st Kevin Smith film i havent liked.
I'd love to see Jay and Silent Bob continue - a la abbot and costello..

Crow: Wicked Prayer.
What a cheaply made, BORING, non-atmospheric peice of shit.
The pathetic wanna-be ghetto talk at the end was a joke, and even
made Dennis Hopper suck balls...must be hard-up for a role of any kind these
days...The action was garbage, the story wasn't worth shit, and the acting, from pretty much everyone involved, was appalling.
I didn't really like the second and third crow movies (although I liked the third better that the second), but this here is a new low.
What happened to them making "the lazarus heart"??? Not to mention the many crow stories that are great, but have been ignored while these inferior films get made?

Pulse, unfortunately. I knew it would be bad, but some morbid curiosity compelled me to see it. Vile garbage. As I predicted before the movie came out, all the subtlety and bleakness of Kurosawa's film was leeched out in favor of "ZOMG! Ghosts on teh intarweb!!!11" There are so many things wrong with this film I could rant on it for pages. It's not even worth a MSTing, it's so dull and lifeless. This is a terrible, terrible movie, and it reduced me to incoherent rage. If you ever feel the urge to watch this film, resist! Spend your time with a film of more worth, like The Cave, or Manos, the Hands of Fate.
Overall: 0/10. I'm now a bitter shell of a man, and I blame this movie.

Clerks 2
This was a pretty good sequel to a movie that really did not need one to begin with. I thought Randall & Jay stole this film away from Dante & Silent Bob (Who I thought stole the first one). I am not one to be offended easily, but this was pretty raunchy. Like they weren't able to think of anything that would be funny except really lurid sex acts, but like I said... It didn't really offend me. It was more just disappointing because I tend to expect higher slightly better writing from Kevin Smith. All in all, this was better than I expected, but pale in comparison to the original.

Last night (2:30am to 4am) it was a great time for me as I saw it for the first time!
Though it's not a good thing to make a comparison with its remake but I have to say Micharl Bay did a superb job too in 2003.
More or less in all segments & departments (begining, ending, script & others), I actually enjoyed TCM'2003 more than the TCM'1974!
But all credits obviously goes to Tobe Hooper who created this legendary flicks at that time.

Brothers of the Head - cool
Conjoined twins become punk icons in the late 70s. The phony documentary feel has been done before, but never this well. An odd film that steps beyond simple expliotation and delves into the psychology of the conjoined.
The style and the story are a little sloppy and unfocused, but the Treadaway brothers (who are twins, but not attached) are inspired and authentic - and the music is surprisingly good. 7.5/10

Clerks 2 - Holy vulgar. Don't make the same mistake as I did; don't watch it while your parents are in the same room; or even house. It was so-so for me; average. But I was impressed with how far it went.
American Pie V: Naked Mile - This is 5x more direct-to-dvd then the fourth. The fourth at least LOOKED like it had some budget backing it, but the fifth... looks like it was filmed on hand-helds, with poor lighting, and even worse directing. It's a throwaway. Boring plot, and by the end of it, I decided to skip to the end (which is predictable.) Below Average.

My buddy has a passion for loaning me shitty movies that he's bought and pleading with me to watch them so we can discuss how bad they were over beers. If I've seen a budgeted movie that tried way to hard over the past year or so, this is it. Not so terrible I wanted to claw my eyes out, but boring enough that coffee could barely keep me awake. The ending was so groan enducing that I rolled my eyes far enough in the back of my head to see my frontal lobe.

Holy moly was this movie a lot longer than it needed to be! They could have easily cut out an hour worth of crap that didn't need to be there. The film was alright, but nothing to get excited about. There's barely any action at all and when there is you already know Superman will save the day so there is zero suspense. I thought this was incredibly slow paced and like I said, way longer than it should have been. Kevin Spacey is fine as Lex Luthor and this Brandon Routh guy did alright as Superman but a couple good acting performances won't do much to improve a drawn out & boring script.

Hahaha. I used to watch that show when I was young. I remember liking it back then but I haven't seen or heard anything about it in probably 15 years so I can imagine it's crap when compared to more recent shows.
And it reminded me of a joke...
Superman is flying over Metropolis one day. As he flies over the JLA building he notices Wonder Woman suntanning naked on the rooftop. Superman thinks to himself "Hey, I'm faster than a speeding bullet. I could fly down there, get myself a quickie and be gone before she even notices anything." Feeling confident about his plan, Superman swoops in, faster than a bullet. He does his deed and disappears back in to the sky, all in the blink of an eye. Wonder Woman sits upright and exclaims "What the fuck was that!?!?!" The Invisibile Man says "I don't know but all of a sudden, my asshole is killing me!"

it is an absolute testament to how much more 'sophisticated' TV is these days.
(i cant believe i typed that - as i think TV is shit)
but now the production values are much higher and the themes are far more mature.
i saw a change in TV the way most people dont - as i stopped watching it over 20 years ago - but would occasionally get minor exposure (friends houses, or a flash of a program when the tape/DVD i was watching ended)
I know some things are cheaper to do with modern technology (cgi, etc) to give television a glossier hi tech look - but i think the true driver was home video.
when people could take movies and watch them at home at their leisure - TV had to compete with much higher production values.
too bad the content is still inane.

Aside from the awful performance from the lead actress (Kim Hunter), this one damn good movie. Great plot and oodles of atmosphere.
Welcome to Lewton.

I watched PotC: Dead Man's Chest last night. Not as good as the original, but it has delivered a new favorite movie quote to me:
Jack tips rum bottle and a few meager drops dribble out.
Jack: Why is there never any rum?
He rises from his seat and stumbles to his hat
Jack: Oh, that's why.

"Perverted, twisted, crippled."
Powerful, dramatic filmmaking led by a very good cast.

I'm going to see The Dead Girl tonight. :)
I'm very excited; it looks and sounds amazing.
If that plan doesn't fall through, I'll probably watch Broken and Altered.

Never even heared of this before tonight..my dad rented it on his way home from work and I watched it completly blind. Enjoyed it quite a bit...the acting was bad and the script was cheesy, but Sam Elliot's character was great. Good, mindless fun.

Stunning movie, slow in parts of some stories but it really has stood the test of time.

Awesome. I'm glad you got to watch this. I kind of cheated, because when I was working on the original HDC Top 100, I kept seeing this movie on lists. I ordered it before voting was closed. Amazing. Truly, movies like this are the reason I enjoy being part of an online horror community. I was introduced to something fantastic that I might have never seen before. If I had, I would feel it was my duty to introduce it to other horror fans. Beauty. Just pure, simple beauty. They don't make a whole lot like this anymore.
