I guess my last shot would be a mall I go to like once ever three or four months for clothes, they have a decent dvd store in there.

only problem is it's in Baton Rouge and I'm not going shopping anytime soon but I want to see something good NOW.

I went to see Million Dollar Baby again last night, I've only went back a second time to the theater for Chicago and the only reason I did that is because I wanted to see the music numbers in the theater again.(though I did think the movie was great)

"Man on Fire"...shot itself in the foot after seemingly going the right way.

***SPOILERS***

Exactly WHY did Creasy not kill the woman in the techno club after getting what he wanted and getting the girl? She was just as part of it as the 2 men in the club he DID kill, and he stated that EVERYONE involved would die.
It wimped out.

Proof of this is in the deleted scenes where a whole assassination of someone involved was removed to tone down the violence! The whole 2nd half of the film is MEANT to be about violence they build Creasy and his quest into nothing but a whirlwind of death! A fart more like.

And the end? What was that? She may not have been dead but she was still kidnapped and put through hell. He could have had a gun in his waistband and killed the Brother as he ran past to supposed freedom, have 'The Voice' there as well and go out taking them out.
As it was we are left with kidnappers unpunished and a VERY VERY bad tagged on coda that (helpfully!) has 'The Voice' killed in a matter of fact fashion at the end by the Police.
BUT Creasy had no idea about this...so as far as he knew he simply let them all go and died in the car! Man on fire? Hmmm...

OR why not use the alternative ending with the bomb? MUCH better. Not only are they all killed but Creasy is the one that did it (which i thought WAS the whole point of the film!).

Could have been so good (and it was at times) but it pandered to Studio suits (though why the DVD had to I do not know, Director's cut was needed here) and it wimped out.
What Tarantino was doing saying it's "As tough as Hell" i do not know.

And the deleted scenes also show how disgustinglly wasteful Hollywood is! They filmed a big action scene, blocked the road off, had lots of extras, lots of bullets and a car blow up....and they cut it out! HOW MUCH did all that cost?
Surely this is why you have SCRIPT meetings, this is why people get payed a lot to decide BEFORE money is spent in what goes and what stays. Small things will of course be filmed and then have to go of course...But a whole action scene?!

More money than talent some people.

I can't agree more. The ending really felt like a let down.
Thats Hollywood for ya.

Quote on the DVD cover.

And at times it was, very tough. But the refusal to kill any women involved in the kidnappings, only the men, and that flat finale let it down.

No matter how ''on fire'' he was suppose to be, most of the time you see a movie about an assassin they don't go for women and kids. I don't see how you can think he got soft, he was bleeding to death and had been through quite a bit in the strech of a day or two emotionally and physically so after he found out Pita was alive all he wanted to do was get her back and that's what he did.

Think about it, what if it were you? Forget all the assassin for the goverment, killing machine,''creasy's art is death'' stuff. You've been through hell and you're completely worn out, you find out she's alive ''the voice'' makes you the same offer. You're telling me you wouldn't have done the same and just got it over with?

But hey, that's just me.:)

Friday Night Lights

wanted to see it in the theater but didn't for whatever reason which I can't remember.

I thought it was really good, Billy Bob Thorton did a good job as he usually does and the guys who played the roles of the players also did a pretty decent job. Although it wasn't the best sports movie I've ever seen (which I was told it would be)it was still really well done. Like I said it wasn't the best sports film I've seen but it did have the most fucked up scene I've ever seen in a sports movie.

Sucked ass...

First half was like a "28 days later" ripoff. Last half became much better, but all in all it still sucked...

"The story of Ricky"

Insanely violent asian martial art flick.

Bad story, bad acting, bad lines and very, VERY bad translations on the subtitles.

Canīt decide if the major spelling errors was irritating or hilarious, but it definitely didnīt ruin the movie wich literally KICKED AAASS!!!

no he doesn't, at the begining when he kills Teddy he's killing the wrong person but if you remember at the end when Teddy told him that he'd already killed John G. and that he has been using him ever since to track down other criminals. After Teddy tells him that he rushes to write down ''don't believe his lies'', his plate number ect.

What he's doing at that point is turning Teddy into the person he's looking for.

you getting this so far?

At the end when he gets back in the truck what he's doing is writing down stuff to make it look like Teddy is his wife's killer. for example when he took Teddy's picture and wrote ''don't believe his lies'' on it and he wrote down his plate number. So basicly the end was the begining of the events you see take place in the movie and the begining was what happened after those events took place.

Saw the House of Wax preview and it actually looked interesting, also saw a Batman trailer, I think this is going to be the best Batman because they're making it less comic bookish and a little more realistic but then again how serious can you make a movie about a guy dressed like a bat?

gott a love the little guy - cheering for the monsters.

we got a note from the teacher today ...
he was STILL UPSET about Godzilla today .. the teacher asked him to draw a picture of what was bothering him and he drew a picture of the scene outside the Gardens when the mother godzilla was sniffing her dead babies ...

it really affected him ... he was sad because the parent was sad about losing her babies ..

thats a sweet sensitive little kid i have ..

(since you didnt see dead bodies of people he wasnt upset that Godzilla did tear half the city to shreds)

D'Amato's "Porno Holocaust" has just had a DVD release, not seen it but it is meant to be very bad. Failing as a decent porno and as a horror film.

"Erotic Nights of the Living Dead" is meant to be better...if that actually means much where old Joe D is concerned!

I kinda remember this one it had a killer tree or something? I've been trying to track down a copy of Friekin's Rampage. I was reading a old Gorezone article about and it sounds fucking cool.

The last movie I watched was Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer for the first time in about five or six years. Fucked up chilling movie. I loved it and its way better than any of the serial killer bullshit in the last 7 or 8 years.

"Invasion U.S.A.".... Oustandingly cheesy, with a few flat action scenes (the Mall shootout is awful, you can see why HK films blew so much life into action cinema when you see this badly made set-up) but it's a lot of violent fun, with some great stunts, in that unique 80's American way with a suitably nasty and theatrical villian in the shape of Richard Lynch.

you must see it, its f'ing awesome. I'm new to this kind of Asian comedy, some cheesy, but not bad. I've not seen soccer, so don't know how it compares to that. Yuen Wo Ping sequenced the fight scenes in Hustle so expect to see some excellent stuff.

"Highwaymen" - Lookes great, sounds great with a couple of brutal scenes of people being run over and some outstanding stunts.
Rather simplistic though given tha short running time and the fnale is a bit weak.
But once again Robert Harman ("The Hitcher") shows he is one of the masters of 'road movie' cinema.

Fun Japanese animated film.
Looks like all the studio Ghibli films are getting english dubbing -
probably due to the popularity of Spirited Away.
I'm cool with Japanese language and subtitles but at least now my kid can enjoy them more as he's too young to read.

Good job on the english voices..

Just seen "Constantine" in the cinema.

It was so-so.

For a horror movie there wasnīt much horror and for an action movie it was too slow paced most of the time. Very well made though. But i left the cinema with an empty feeling inside.

While walking out of the cinema my cousin asked: "Wonder why the devil had black tar on his feet?"

And i could only answer: "Who cares...."
