I saw boo...I just remember it being stupid all the way through, with a really dumbass plot point thrown in at the end.
I have to give it this though, I thought it had some good (albeit completely fake ad over the top) gore.

I remember seeing a few trailers for other films by the same dodgy looking company...the other films previewed on there looked stupid, but fun...one was "cerebus - hound of hell", and it just ended up looking like a stupid-ass adventure movie...something made me wanna check it out though...boo was pretty lousy.

A Tale of Two Sisters

Hmmm... Well, I don't know. I guess I'm in the minority, but I found this to be rather boring for the first half and then violent and confusing for the second half. I'm still not exactly sure what the ending was, but the acting was good and there was a fair amount violence. I don't know... I guess I'm just not a huge fan of Asian horror. So far, the only 2 I've seen that I really enjoyed were Battle Royale and Ichi the Killer.

C

Mr. 3000

Well, this was an okay baseball comedy. Not grat, but not terrible and I am a fan of Bernie Mac so I was fairly entertained. It's no Major League but it's a pretty charming little story of redemption.[/b]

C+

Monster House

This was good. I always find these CGI films to be very hit or miss, but this one is definately a hit. I was entertained from start to finish. If you have little ones, this is a film the whole family will enjoy.

B+

Slither

Well, I guess I got my hopes up too high for this one. It was good, it was entertaining, but it wasn't as great as I had hoped. The story was pretty basic, there was a fair amount of gore and the acting was fine, but nothing about this movie really struck me as unique or awesome. It's a good cheesy popcorn flick, but not much more.

C

Strangeland

Ah, Dee Snider... What a fucked up guy you are.... This is a twisted looked into Snider's dark psyche as he wrote, directed and stars in this experiment in sadism and torture. Watching this again after not seeing it in about 8 years really made me wonder if films like Saw or Hostel drew any inspiration from any of the twisted torture scenes in this one...

Halloween I & II.

Brilliant, as always. Right now I sit wondering that...would Halloween be as successful if they had casted someone else other than Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasance? debatable question...but the script and the direction was so powerful, any other good actor-pair would have carried the movie, IMO.

Now I m debating whether to see III or skip it and go to IV, since Myers isnt in III. But still, to keep the continuity of the series, I m thinking of popping III in.

Madagascar, for the first time.
It was initially funnier than I thought it would be, but I felt it fell down in the last half hour...Chris Rock and David Schwimmer were probably at their least irritating, some good Stiller-esque rants, a few funny film references, and you gotta love the sedative dart trip-out.
Over-all a decent movie, but I don't think it stayed consistant through to the end. Kids would sure love this one.

Dungeon of Harrow

Let me break this film down for y'all:

Take one of Roger Cormann's Poe films from the 60's. Switch the story around to be based loosely (VERY loosely) on the Marquis de Sade. Take away about 60% of the budget and 90% of the talent involved. Now, add a touch of LSD for good measure : Tada! What you're left with is most likely something like Dungeon of Harrow.

Really strange, no-budget, obscure-as-all-heck little film that I watched for the first time last Halloween, and have decided to turn into a tradition. It's poorly made, the quality of the DVD is crap as well, but there is just something about this movie that I enjoy.

Cheesy 80s flick. It's rated PG so it's light on the gore. The acting is campy at best, the clothes hairstyles and music are all so toally 80s it makes me want to bust out a pair of Zubaz or something. It was okay, but nothing all that entertaining really.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2.

I saw this yesterday and feared for the worse; I didn't actually like the Blair Witch Project, but was surprised that I actually liked this one - a whole lot better.

The only problem with it is that it was a sequel - I think it could have made it as a stand alone flick, without the curse of the tag - sequel, hanging around its neck, which is why I've never watched it before.

If I had the choice to watch either of them again, (for the purests out there) sorry but book of shadows would defineately be my number one choice.

Good job. What do you think of it?

Good story, great cast... this one didn't waste the great cast like a lot of movies do when they get some great people together. I think what I really liked is the fact that it was able to be really brutal in scenes without having to really expose everything. I also dug the way that it got very surreal at times but at the end you never really wondered what happened because it all made sense without having to over-explain everything.

Swamp Thing

Wow, this is dated. The FX may have been good in the mid-80s but nowadays they just look terrible. This a freak-of-science-turns vigilante type of movie directed by Wes Craven. The story is okay, but rather conveneient at parts. The script and costumes are pretty bad. The gore is very tame. By today's standards this would be a mild PG-13 and nowhere near an R rated film. It also includes one of the hokiest looking villains I've ever seen in any movie ever. That wolf/plant/man at the end just looks utterly retarded. It might have been good whwen it came out, but it doesn't stand the test of time very well.

C-

Ultimate Avengers 2

This was nowhere near as good as the 1st Ultimate Avengers movie. Where the 1st one focused more on 2 characters I like (Hulk & Capt. America), this focused more on the Black Panther, who I am not so fond of. I found it rather boring actually.

The album gets a disjointed, silly story put to it with a lot of the songs being perfromed by other groups and people. Stars the BeeGees, Peter Frampton, George Burns, Steve Martin, and has appearances from Aerosmith and Alice Cooper as well. It's a trip.

Saw 3. Meh. I really didn't like this one as much as the first two. I'm not exactly sure why, but something about it just didn't work for me. It seemed like they were putting all the focus on making the traps as outrageous as possible and the story and characters kind of fell by the wayside. The movie recovered from this quite a bit in the final third or so, but it still didn't measure up for me.

Rest Stop. Blech. I don't really have a whole lot to say about this one. It started off fairly decent and rapidly descended into absurdity. Not very good at all.

The Omen (2006) - I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I think it was pointless to remake the original, but they did a pretty decent job.

An American Haunting - I had heard nothing but bad things about this one, but I really liked it. The only things I didn't much care for were the modern-day storyline that bookends the movie and the "why did they have to go there?" twist. I don't know much about the true events of The Bell Witch so maybe there's something to it, but I thought that was a weak cop-out.

Omen III: The Final Conflict

Pretty good. Nowhere near as awesome as the first, but a bit better tha #2. Sam Neill did an amazing job...I still say this guy needs to do more horror. One thing that bugged me though:

**Spoilers**

The ending. It was a pretty good way to end it, but it just made Damien seem like a complete moron. He can recite like half the bible from memory, yet he didnt know that passage that comes on screen at the end? About Christ returning "not as a child, but now as King of Kings". Cool ending, but that parts was pretty dumb IMO.

First time I'd seen it.
I didn't like HO1KC much at all...so I was pretty apprehensive about this "sequel", but hey, it was on weekly hire, and I'd heard it was somewhat better than the first (IMO - Not as though that would be too hard) from a few people.
While I found it more watchable than the first one, I still found the characters stupid, annoying, and over the top. The "rescue" I saw coming a mile off.
Overall not bad, at least this one made me laugh a few times...but, wasn't overly impressed by either of these films.

Just saw "This Film is not Yet Rated" last night. It's a documentary about the MPAA film ratings process. Definitely interesting, and sheds some needed light on the uber-secretive ratings board, though it has some weak points.

Still, this movie would probably interest a lot of horror fans, since horror tends to get treated a bit unevenly in ratings.

Hardware? Is that the futuristic one where a terminator type robot put itself back together? I can't really remember it, butI do remember liking it....came out at roughly the same time as freejack and circuitry man, no? Other decent looking scifi films I cant remember...
Whats this latest one to do with hardware?

Slither. What a fucked up movie, but I loved it. It was a pretty fresh take on the whole alien-mutant-mouth invading slimy thing premise. I enjoyed it a lot. It reminded me of From Beyond, Night of the Creeps and The Thing, right down to the R.J. MacReady funeral home.
Great stuff.

Omen IV: The Awakening

On it's own it would be a somewhat decent movie, but in the context of the series it's a big piece of shit. Here's how the discussion that made this movie possible must have gone down:

Producer 1 - Hey, that Omen series could probably still make us a buck.
Producer 2 - Ya! Lets just pretend the third one never happened, but then rely on it for an important plot twist near the end!

Aside from that and the stupid plot that was basically just a dumbed down rehash of the original, it wasnt too awful. Pretty solid acting, surprisingly enough.

It was a pilot movie for a TV series (which never happened).

Probably a good thing, that would make a pretty shitty TV show.

Probably would've been better than the F13 and Elm St ones

Never seen either of those...though I was under the impression that the F13 series just had a similar title and wasnt actually related to the movies?

Everything was just so tied up with Omen IV....nowhere for a series to go without going down the exact same route as the first 3 films.

Freddy's Nightmares had some cool episodes.

I kinda liked the idea of a female antichrist
