Maybe even more crazy than "Shaolin soccer", if thatīs possible. Most of the cast from "Shaolin soccer" is in it as well.

Watched Wes Cravens "Shocker" for the second time, after about 8-9 years...If you don't take it too seriously, it's actually quite enjoyable.
I have to say, I prefer the Pinker character when he's still "alive", and the segments of the film before his death (that was some raw shit)...some interesting ideas goin' on there, although, all the way throughout it was still pretty good, definately one of Cravens better films.
Strays a little close to Elm street, but stands up on it's own...it was good to take in a peice o' the oldskool again.

i have a lot of older movies of this style ... flying through the trees, etc ..

i just found that some scenes ran a little too long (the two girls fighting in the leaves)

the fight over water .... beautiful at first - but then it was likev .. come on .. come on ..

also the retelling of the same fights over and over in different ways were getting to me.

I'd still recommend the film ... it had some unforgettable imagery ... but it could have been tightened a bit without losing the lushness..

agree with the long scenes, the scene you mention in the leaves, this is the one I too thought was rather long, but it didn't detract from the film. The other scene was the arrows attacking the temple one....wow! that awesome scene seamed to go on for ages.

What a pile of shite - is this what passes for (whacky?) comedy these days I must be missing something. All I could see is that nob who was married to Drew Barrymore arseing about and gurning for the camera while zany stuff happens around him (although admittedly this was viewed under stoned, high and drunk conditions).

What on earth is going on? The Farrelly brothers manage to inject some charm into their comedies, but toss like this is made by morons, for morons.

You would think plain daft movies like this would be better appreciated under the influence, but I just found it all the more irritating.

"Hot" comedians mugging for the camera... I can just about put up with Jim Carrey (quite funny in Ace Ventura, sinister in The Cable Guy and, especially, excellent in The Truman Show) but the rest of them are just on an ego-trip and I can't sit right knowing I'm just watching some tit pull funny faces and do a silly voice to get my attention.

Its that bad.
Horrible acting and some guy running around in a gorilla suit.Until the last 2 minutes, where they must have found some money in the couch or something because they decided to end the movie with some really bad CGI bigfoot.

Sin City- 8/10, would've been 9 but it lost one point because Elijah Wood was in it. It was extraordinarily weird but still a great movie.

Sahara- 6and1/2 out of 10, It had Indiana Jones like action which made it a real fun movie.

Carlito's Way- 7/10, This was my first time watching it all the way through without interruption and I thought it was a very good film, the ending is fucked up but then again I've never seen a ganster movie that didn't have a fucked up ending.

Beauty Shop- 4/10, It had it's moments of laughter but overall I thought it was pretty boring and the fact that I was nagged and nagged until I agreed to go see it didn't help either.

Amitiville Dollhouse- WTF, Lord have mercy on the idiot who's responsible for this peice of utterly pathetic shit.

Being I'd seen it before, I knew what to expect. I did like the Asylumn twist. For me it was more of a Horromedy then anything. It's nice and glossy, like most remakes are, but it's worth a watch, 7/10. It's a Dark Castle film which makes it pretty good scene, actor, effects, and budget wise.

I thought the character was cool, no doubt about that but it's him that I can't stand, kinda like you're thing with Robin Williams.

Even without that I'd still give it a 9 instead of 10 because I think Mickey Rouke's portion was unsatisfactory(for lack of a better word). There was nothing wrong with his performance I think he did a great job, the thing I didn't like about it was it looked like they just thought of any reason to send him on a rampage.

i was completely pumped to see Rourke - my all time favorite actor ..

i have waited a long time to see him in a lead roll again, and i wasnt dissapointed at all ..i thought he made a great sympathetic lug ... and a brutal man of action at the same time ..

just the thought of him and woods in a movie together .. let alone fighting !! made my decade :)

I had no problem what so ever with Rourke, I think he's a great actor and he killed the role, what I was referring to is the way they set it up.

It was adapted from a comic so I guess there's no problem with it being a little unbelievable.

I wont disagree about that. Iīm just more into asian horror movies than american ones, because they are more focusing on atmosphere and not blood īn gore.

Besides, the above mentioned titles are not horror movies, with the exception of "Bunshinsaba".;)

good point, If I had to sit through one of the many below average but just interesting enough to keep your attention horror films I'd rather it be an Asian type film, I'll take atmoshpere and story over blood and gore any day.

I've heard of Casshern, all I know is that it's based on an anime, which I've never been a fan of.

Bunshinsaba is on my 'toget' list, if I can find it cheap. I used to do ouija boards just out of interest, and this film is based on a main character using one.

the other two I've not heard of.

i thought it was ok ... but too rainman-ish

(someone with that iq didnt figure out how to apply his intelligence other than to be a janitor ?) c'mon !

i have a problem with hollywood films that dont understand subtleties ... the smart guy always has to be a supergenius .. rather than a just above average intelligent guy ...

the developementally delayed guy has to be an idiot savante - who memorized the phone book ...

these are gimmicky little hooks for dull audiences.

If you're going to make a mumanistic drama .. then give me a hint of realism..

Last example .... poor people dont live in 3500 sq ft lofts, decorated by professional designers.

Emotionally destroyed alcoholic cops dont all live in boats.

fucking hollywood ...

Love Object very cranky film......

Three, six, nine
The goose drank wine
The monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line
The line broke, the monkey got choked
And they all went to heaven in a little row boat

Clap pat, clap pat, clap pat
Clap, clap, clap pat
Clap your hand, pat it on your partners hand
Right hand
Clap pat, clap your hand cross it with your left arm
Pat your partners left palm
Clap pat, clap your hand pat your partners right palm
With your right palm again

Clap slap
Slap your hands, slap your thigh
And sing a little song, go

My mother told me if I was goody
That she would buy me a rubber dolly
My auntie told her, I kissed a soldier
Now she won't buy me, a rubber dolly

Three, six, nine
The goose drank wine
The monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line
The line broke, the monkey got choked
And they all went to heaven in a little row boat

Clap pat
Clap your hands and prepare to pat

Clap
Take your right arm
Pat your partners right palm
With your right palm

Clap
Take your hand back and clap

Pat
Take your right arm
Cross your right arm with your left arm
Take your partners left palm with your left palm

Clap
Take your hand back and clap

Clap
Take your right arm, cross your left arm
Pat your partners right palm with your right palm

Clap
Now back with the clap

Clap
Take the pats of your palms
And slap your thighs
And watch the fun materialize
As you sing this little song

My mother told me
If I was goody
A that she would buy me
A rubber dolly

My auntie told her
I kissed a soldier
Now she won't buy me
A rubber dolly

Clap, clap pat, clap pat, clap, slap...

Many things.

But let me start by saying, that with the Director and the huge amount of great actors, i coulndīt help but having pretty big expectations to Sin City.

First of all, i thought the lead characters was very much alike except for their physics. All cool without many feelings. It got tiresome to listen to their monotonous, numb thoughts throughout the entire movie.

Second. The storyline reminded me alot of "Pulp fiction", very smart ass, just without any good dialogue. The story wasnīt that good and i didnīt get the intro and the last seconds of the movie. With other words, i didnīt get Josh Hartnettīs part in it? When the credits finaly came rolling i sat with an empty feeling inside. Like the credits came before the movie was entirely over.

Third. I liked the cartoon universe wich reminded me of a dark version of "Dick Tracy". I liked Elija Wood and Nick Stahlīs characters wich were wonderfully weird and colorful. Sadly there wasnīt more characters like them. But explain to me why ALL women in Sin City had to look like porno supermodels and had to be half/fully naked. It was degrading to look at and really irritated me. (Iīm not a "Charlies angels" fan)
;)

The possitive things about Sin City was the originality, the effects, the enviroment, the entertainment, and Elija Wood.

All in all a 8/10

This is a good case for doing a bit of research on a movie you are about to see.
The nudity for Sin City was tuned waaayyy down from what it was supposed to be.

Giving it a 7/10 based on your reasoning is like giving star wars a 7/10 because you dont like sci-fi.

considering that it was directly based on a violent sexy graphic novel .. and was co directed by the author of that graphic novel ... thus completely faithful to the content of that graphic novel ... it was definately a 10.

Not knowing the story it's based on isnt really grounds for dismissing it..

Not being into the whole Wine tasting thing it was boring for me. There were a few very funny moments though.

I found it stable, deep, and somewhat humorous. The bouquet, although acceptable, did have somewhat of a pungent and rancid aftertaste after its consumption, leaving me wanting or expecting more. It may prove to be more widely accepted and liked by a less sophisticated palate, and being only a 2004 vintage, it may be better refined with age. Overall, I give it a 1.6 out of 5.

School of Rock...tha place I was staying at had it in the collection.
I'd kinda avoided seeing this film, between JB being in it, and being in the childrens movie "kinda" genre...but hey, had nothing else to watch that I hadn't seen already.
It was actually not half as bad as I'd expected it to be.
Nothing outstanding, but watchable enough.

i saw 1/2 of The Haunting (the origional) and i had to go to bed ..
I'll watch the 2nd half tonight.

interesting to see the origional characters as i had only seen the remake up to now..
Zeta-Jones was a natural .. as were most of the cast.
Not sure why they turned Russ Tamblin into a surfer dude a la the Wilson boy..

The Orginal was great...I liked the remake too, Liam Neeson is great. The House, used in the movie, (orginal) is a Hotel/Inn/B&B whatever you choose to call it. However they don't promote the fact that it was used in the Horror movie on their website.

***** small spoiler alert ********

interesting the way it was fairly effective as more of a psychological horror...
Nothing was ever seen, no FX .. it was the way the house was filmed that built up the suspense.

still .. the characters were fairly 2 dimentional, except Theo.
This is pretty typical of a lot of these older films .. the characters are handled in a very hamfisted manner... very black and white ..
(eg. the 'money guy' cares only about money - untill the last possible moment in the film ..no gradual developement)

Cool to see Lois Maxwell as something other than Moneypenny..

Most of the characters back then were two dimensional anyways...still we had some pretty decent directors and actors...but the characterisation in movies sucked...

The Amityville Horror (2005)

Amazingly good. I'm sorry, but you can't put this one down. It kept the storyline, kept the classic scenes (priest-flies, babysitter-closet) and was just an overall very well made remake. I'm glad they did it, it gave me a pretty good scare, and was just a good use of $7. I recommend anyone who's not to snobby about remaking classics go see it.

P.S. I'm not an easy pleaser as far as remakes go. I hated the TCM remake. But this one truly is good.

enjoyed it, pretty good conspiracy/espionage thriller. Kilmer was the right actor for the part... suited his style. The director went into more detail during particular scenes, where different twists in the story line unfolded, moreso than most other films of this type.

That's funny everything you liked I didn't(with the exception of the enviroment) and everything you didn't like I did(with the exception of Elijah Wood).

I liked Rourke and Owens'(<my personal favorite) characters and Bruce Willis was a lead and his character was nothing like their's.

Event Horizon- 5/10, only half of the movie was good hence the rating. The climax was great, Sam Neil's character was great after he went off the deep end and fucked his face up.

Sin City- 10/10, I went to see it again Tues. at 12 in the morning to make sure the theatre wouldn't be filled with 100 people with..

25 whispering
25 just flat out talking
and the other half assorted with whining babies, cellphones ect. and all of them going oooooooooooo evertime something happens and then talking about it over the rest of the dialouge in the scene.

anyway the first time I saw it I gave it a 8 because there were a few things I didn't like for example the weak set up given for Rourke to go on a torcher/killing spree but this time I was uninterrupted by the things mentioned above, caught a few things I missed and took a close look at the things I didn't like the first time and all in all it was better than I originally thought.
(p.s.-I still hate Elijah Wood)

Rosemary's Baby- 9/10, Would've been a 10 but imo everybody but Mia Farrow and Charles Grodin completely over acted.

Aside from the effects, which Ill admit were amazing, what did you like about this? I thought it was pretty bad....the acting wasnt very good, the plot was pretty dry until the ending, IMO.

I give it this: Damn good scenery/special effects, and a certain even near the end which would ruin the movie for those who havnt seen it....[So those who've seen it know what I mean....Totenkoff at the end...wow] Aside from that, I didnt see much to like. What are your thoughts?
