It was a good movie but I felt the same about the action. There really wasn't much action as I thought they would be. I would give it a 8/10.
If you like this movie, you should check out Count of Monte Cristo. I actually like that movie better than V.

40-Year Old Virgin
It had 3 good ,laugh-out-loud moments.
It was somewhat entertaining but way too long.
Maybe if I was a 20-something male I would enjoy this flick.
I would recommend it only if you were really curious about the buzz that surrounded it.
Otherwise -it was overrated.

ruined by 100 'droll one liners' given to goth-girl Wednesday.
Poseidon ... not as bad as i thought it would be .,.. some nice action sequences .. good effects, some tension and a couple of fairly disturbing scenes...
maybe I'm turning into a softy..
Pterodactyl ... horrible piece of shit .. couldnt finish it...
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind .. after listening to the audio book this was a huge dissapointment. too many key elements of the book changed .. not to suit the viewer .. but to suit the filmmaker. completely unneccessary and far less compelling than Barris' own telling of his story.
I really like Clooney but he fucked this one up.

Date Movie - 0/10 - I went in with low expectations and it managed to be worse than I expected. I waited there thinking it can't get any worse, but yes it kept getting worse. Too bad because I really like Allyson Hannigan and Eddie Griffin.
Doom - 6/10 - After seeing Date Movie, this seemed like Oscar material. The movie had some nice action and the creatures were well done. I'm glad they didn't use CGI for the monsters. I had a problem with the story and the seemingly stupid behavior of the marines. Also annoying was the sequence in which the movie went into first person mode, just like the game. Why do directors feel the need to show us what the game looks like? Must have went to the Uwe Boll school of filmaking.
Brick - 9/10 - A great movie with an excellent script and a tight plot. The acting was top notch, especially the kid from 3rd Rock From The Sun show. I was kinda lost in the beginning because I didn't understand some of the lingo in the dialogue. I didn't know if this had to do with my age or geography(Midwest, the movie takes place in Cali I think). Check it out if you get a chance.
Ultimate Avengers - 8/10 - I enjoyed this animated movie. Of course I was a big Avengers fan when I was younger. The only thing I had a problem was that it was just over and hour. I wish it would've been longer, especially since the sleeve from Netflix listed it as 2 hrs.

"The Ron Clark Story"
A surprisingly non-cheesy "Good natured teacher saves class full of kids with attitudes" movie. Matthew Perry was good, very good. It'll be on 100 times in the next week if you missed it, i would actually recommend it. And the kids acting in it were actually good, not kids who got the part because their cousin was a gaffer.
Also, the Incredibles.... I had forgotten how much i love this movie... more than a 30 year should, but it is just so godamn funny and cool.

Scary movie 1 was great...2 was "ok", 3 was pathetic, and there it stopped for me. I've heard 4 is even worse.
DATE movie was just garbage, and entirely unfunny...didn't even chuckle once...
Little man? Is that what it's called? Looks like I won't be seeing that on account of it looking like the same kinda stupid shit white chicks was.
However, they don't completely suck. I remember thinking senseless was pretty funny, and again scary movie 1 was great...even "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood" had its moments...
but considering the SHIT theyre released since, they really need to lift their game. They went from making funny stupid films to "so stupid theyre not even funny enough to be so stupid they're funny"...its too bad.

I love both the first two X-Men movies. It's too bad they didn't finish the series with a quality third movie. X3: The Last Stand was one of the biggest disappointments of the year, if not the last decade. I won't pick up the DVD when it comes out. In fact I'll just act like it was never made.

I agree that it fell far short of expectations, but I'm still going to get it because it wasn't ALL terrible. I hope that if they make another one (because it seems like they set up the scenario for another sequel) they take it back to the style of the first movie. They made you care about the characters in the first one, unlike X3 where they were just flinging cameos left and right....with no character development whatsoever.

Small Soldiers
I really enjoyed this - when it first came out I was never bothered about it but found in a bargain bin, it was well worth the £2.49 I paid. Not as good as the Pixar stuff but a really enjoyable popcorn movie all the same...
7/10
Green Street
Hmmm...well being a fanatical Manchester United fan I had to swallow the pro West Ham shit that was being branded about and concentrate on the fact it was 'just a movie'...hmmmph, as far as entertainment goes this is a good film. As far as realistic in terms of football firms and violence - it's a non-starter - OTT and unrealistic. If you fancy an entertaining voilent film then I guess you can't go far wrong, if you want a relasitic portrayal of British hooliganism leave this well alone. Not as good as The Firm, ID, Football Factory but a decent enough film overall.
7/10
Sympathy For Mr Vengeance
I thoroughly enjoyed this little gem...good opening to the 'trilogy' - good tense parts - and very well acted. Good build up for Oldboy for me (coming up next)

good voicework .. nice effects ... the kids werent too obnoxious ..
i liked the scene where they tried flushing people out of the house by playing that terrible music.
We have a bunch of the small soldiers toys .. quite a few were made despite how relatively unknown the movie is ..
Twisted Sisters....NO...not the Dee Snider story.
Not bad for a DTV movie.Nothing too original but the acting was ok and the gore wasn't horrible.

I was a bit worried after hearing alot of bad things about it, but I ended up really enjoying it. The actors are surprisingly good for this kind of movie, and the same can be said for the effects. The "Man-Thing" itself looked phenominal.
I actually liked this alot more than the first Swamp Thing. It's just about on par with the second though, IMO.
PS- The one major thing wrong with it was the plot, which made no sence at all in places. Just thought I should add that.

Relatively true to the series. I am a big fan of Charlize Theron. She is one o fthose rare cases where she is not only a knockout, she has some serious acting ability too. But not even she could save it. It was confusing, meandering, way too in love with itself. The action was amazingly bland. WAY too much style over substance, but it tried really hard to have substance, and the end was just retarded.
to quote my wife: "I could have taken a vicoden and gone sleep when you got home, instead i stayed up and watched THIS.

I couldn't agree with her more, vod.
I'd heard SO many bad things about AF, but thought it may have just been the result of people who'd enjoyed the original series hating on any attempt to expand...so I hired it anyway.
Visually quite stunning agreed, but lacking in pretty much every other department. I was bored as all hell, and this is one of the few films I've actually turned off, never intending to finish.
The anti-hype is real on this one I'm afraid.
Although I'm not going to let this stop me from seeing the series, apparently it's great, and it looks awesome to me. Considering you can now buy the whole series for about the price of a movie now, I'm good with that.
Other than that, I think I'll wait for renaissance and children of man to see my next glimpse of the "bleak future"...

Theres a really good toy shop where I live though. Loads of star wars stuff, sin city, aliens etc. Got life size Predator head and huge 4 ft alien statues etc. If I was rich I'd buy everything in that shop!

I was looking at that in the store earlier on in the week. I'm a fan of Cronenberg but I dunno about this one.... Spider didn't really do much for me. Maybe I'll wait till his next weirdo sci-fi outing.

I enjoyed this but I won't be keeping it in my collection. A couple of scenes of terrible looking CGI effects totally ruined it for me. Its become a pet hate of mine. I was digging it (sure its a unoriginal story blah, blah) but those effects just made me go "Fuck that looks dumb".

I just watched "Castle of Blood" with Barbara Steele and found it to be kind of creepy! In the 70's I saw a color remake of this film called "Web of the Spider," and I was looking for that one too because it scared me back then; but this original version is pretty good. Nice, fucked up haunted house movie.

I like watching people flying around and fighting upside down.
But I bet it's REALLY uncomfortable to film.:p
I liked all the twists in the story, and the way different scenarios were played out, with the colors changing for each scenario. The last statement of Nameless, "the ultimate act of a true warrior is to lay down his sword"....well, that really struck a nerve with me. It's a noble sentiment, and I've always had a weak spot for nobility.

But i went to see this movie because i thought it was a visually beautiful war movie with great wars.
And yes, the use of colors was amazing. Never seen a movie as beautiful.
But the great wars... please. It was nothing but one on one wire fights. And that was tiresome for me to watch for 3 hours.

******SESSION9 SPOILERS********
i said it was slow and predictable, and this is why. i said it was slow because i almost turned it off from being bored. also the reason i said predictable, i didn't know it was a psych thriller, though it would have been a ghost story, but all through the movie there was no mention of ghost or supernatural, and when that dude goes back for the coins and stuff, his flashlight shines on a man. when the man said he hit his wife for burning his leg, a flag went up in my head about him. i saw the movie as more of the dudes decent into madness, rather than a who done it.

Running Scared WAS good, and that hockey puck scene looked painful.
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
This was my first time viewing this and I must say that it was such a bleak and dark film, it wasn't all that gory, but it was still disturbing nonetheless. It wasn't your typical 80's cheesefest flick. I was impressed.
976-EVIL
Now, speaking of cheesefests, Stephen Geoffreys (Evil Ed from Fright Night) stars in this one where if you call that number you get supernatural powers...it's funny to think that "Evil" Ed went from acting in teen horrors to "acting" in numerous gay porns in the 90's and onward.

The Rage: Carrie 2
Carrie should have been left alone, as it was an all-time classic. This modern teen movie sequel really doesnt do much justice to its predecessor, nor does the storyline differ in any way, shape or form.
The climactic revenge killing at the end has some nice deaths, but all in all its a very cheap film, and not one to actively seek out to watch.

I felt there were some casting issues. Beautiful imagery and an average overall execution. It had my heart beating in some places, soley due to the feeling of a greater presence that I fear in my own dreams. Interesting how they used the "unvoice" that happens in dreams as well in one significant scene with Vince's character. When you scream, and nothing comes out. I noticed some indian-esque influences from the director.
Didn't think it was terrible, or anything all that special... glad I saw it, though.

Masters of Horror: Sick Girl - 7/10 - I enjoyed this movie. Angela Bettis is cute as the lesbian bug expert who falls in love with A free spirited girl played by Erin Brown (A.K.A. Misty Mundae). It's more of a horror comedy, than just horror.
Final Destination 3 - 6.5/10 - You know the plot, group of teens escape death, and death dispatches each survivor in creative ways. I think at this point in the series, we just watch these movies to see how the teens die, don't we? The deaths were well done, especially the tanning booth, and weight rooms ones. Not as good as the second one, but worth a rental.
Masters of Horror: Cigarette Burns - 5.5/10 - My least favorite of the series so far. I just didn't get into the story, and the deaths were ok. Worth a rental, but wait until it goes into the cheap rentals.

Persuasion...IDW comics is also doing a "masters of horror" series. Basically short stories by various authors? Pretty decent series so far...nothing great, just thought you might wanna know about it.
Austin Powers 1 - Seeing this now, I think I liked the second one slightly better...but it's still a decent watch.
Demons 2 - Absolute stupid shit...overkill gore, but a cool soundtrack and scenes that make you laugh...all good.

Wrong Turn
I think I'll always love this movie. Straightforward, no bullshit, intense and gory... Plus it's got a couple of smokin' hot chicks in tight clothes and a deranged killer family of cannibal inbreds... What more can you ask for?
A-
Snakes on a Plane
This is weird but the movie was actually better than I was expecting and because of that, I was let down. I was hoping for some campy, cheesy over the top gore and one liners and what I got was a fairly standard Hollywood horror film with a cool name. It has some funny moments, but there's not much blood or gore at all and altogether too many survivors at the end, but I suppose it was alright....

Truly awful movie about a scientest turning people into King Cobras. Avoid it at all costs.
I remember seeing this one as a youngster - I was up late one night with the flu and it came on TV.
I remember enjoying it - perhaps I was delirious, too young, or both.
Damn, now I want to watch it to see how bad it was :D

final destination 3 and snakes on a plane.
caught these two at a drive-in w/ a couple of friends, so our movie-going experience was enhanced. fd3 was pretty sub-par w/ a couple interesting deaths (the nail gun was my favorite). snakes on a plane was just as i expected: a campy action film about SNAKES ON A PLANE. good times all around.

Have been trying to rent that for a while now. It's always unavailible...
As shocking as this sounds...
I haven't seen it.
(Just all of it's sequels...)
---
The Wild, although one of the most detailed CGI endeavors I have seen, sucked. It wasn't all that funny (had one good scene - involving the Giraffe thinking she saw a bat), and was way, way too preachy. I'm sorry, but is anyone else sick and tired of father & son stories? Oh, your fathers amazing, you live in his shadow. Big deal. Stop being emo and sulking in a fucking tree in your zoo.
It only ran for 1H 20M and I couldn't even last that. I shut it off one hour in. I even had hopes for it.

I agree. Some of them arent that good to begin with (little bear... cant be bothered to remember that throw-away's name...), while others are great actors who just didnt seem to care all that much. Sam Neil, lawrence Fishburne, Jason Issacs, Sean Pertwee...
Anderson is a twit who can somehow suck the life and originality out of any concept. in the hands of a better writer/director, Event Horizon could have been a great movie...
The only thing he did sorta right was the first Resident Evil, and that one starts to fall apart after repeat viewings.

Warlock: The Armageddon. It's got some terrible effects, but overall I think it's the best one out of the three. The gore makes up for a lot, and I love the scalp-snatching scene.

Yeah.
Why?
I don't know. I've always just loved to kill. I really enjoyed it. But then I got famous, and - it's just too hard for me. And so many witnesses. I mean, everybody recognized me. I couldn't even work anymore. I'd hear, "Who's that lurking over there? Isn't that Merv Griffin?" So I came to Europe to kill. And it's really worked out very well for me.
