I started to watch what I thought was Quentin Tarantino's "Make Positive That William Doesn't Live Anymore Vol. 1" but it turned out to be "Make Positive That William Doesn't Live Anymore Vol. 2" and I haven't seen either yet, so I'm waiting so I can just sit down one day and watch the complete "Make Positive That William Doesn't Live Anymore" experience.

The Dirty Dozen

Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, John Cassavettes, Jim Brown, Telly Sevales, Ernest Borgnine, George Kennedy...how can you go wrong? I rented this one because my eldest recently watched Saving Private Ryan and is suddenly into WWII flicks. Needless to say, he wasn't disappointed.

Next WWII flick for him to see...Kelly's Heroes

Disturbing? Do you find your own penis disturbing? I hate that ANYONE would have this reaction. Homer gouging his eye with a hammer is fine just please don't ever make me view a penis.

This attitude that anything sexual is somehow more offensive than anything violent makes me rather ill.

I LOVED that they showed Bart's privates. It was innocent and silly. They showed an undefined, little, yellow, CARTOON penis...and the way they introduced it was hilarious.

I'd like to see a lot more penis shots in mainstream film, just to get people over this knee-jerk reaction to seeing one.

Wow, I can't believe that you would condemn a man for not enjoying seeing a penis. Who cares? Some people just don't find dicks funny. I personally thought it was a riot, especially the way they lead up to it, but I wouldn't be upset because somebody didn't like it. I also didn't find anything "sexual" about an underaged cartoon boy's ding-a-ling. Anyway, I just saw Wild Hogs (complete with a lot of male ass shots) and it was funnier than I thought it would be. I LOVED the very end, during the credits, great stuff.

Freedom of expression says show all the tits, ass and weiner you want, so go nuts. just dont give me shit for blowing off limbs in mine. I've honestly never even heard of this one before. I saw it listed on the my streaming horror channel (I'm in love with it), and checked it out. Wasn't breath-taking, but it was entertaining - which was what I was looking for. I really dig movies set at theatres. Something about the atmosphere. The films showcased in this movie had me wondering if they were infact real. I know there were similiar films, and similiar gags used during those film runs - did they just parody them here? Or are these films actually out there, as-shown? The twist and ending as a whole sort of left me underwhelmed, but with such a corny premise I wasn't expecting anything great. To my surprise, I was most entertained not during the deaths or the 'tense' moments, but during the film festival preperations and the audience's reactions.

This is one of those that I think is actually pretty underrated. Its a tad heavy on the melodrama and can at times be almost ridiculously over the top......;) but really, I think it is one of the few movies that really tried hard to stay true to the spirit of the book(which is my favorite of all time). Admittedly, it doesn't always work, but I think its pretty good, if not great.

re-re-see romero's new dawn of the dead from zack snyder.
neither a great one, nor a bad one but the psychology of being-aware-of-death-is-inevitable is well shown in the movie. As a matter of fact, it's in the nature of all zombie movies; total chaos, fear and power-freaks... the loss of govermental authority, absolute anarchy. I don't know Romero but I think he is a little bit anti-anarchist, may be a communist :)

Nightmare on Elm st 2, This is one of my faveorites of the seiries, I love the pool party scene. 7/10

Nightmare on elm st 4, The end of this one used to realy gross me out when I was a kid. 6/10

Nightmare on elm street 6 (Freddys Dead), One of the worst of the series, the only saveing grace is the insight into Krugger before he was burnt, Alice Cooper was cool though. 4.5/10

The Birds, I watched it with my girlfriend who hadn't seen it before, which always is a good way to revisit horror movies. 7/10

The Fugitive, Harrison Ford being Harrison Ford, i prefered U.S Marshalls. 6/10

Welcome to the club. My wife, buddy & I popped in Finding Nemo immediately after we watched it. Aren't you glad you just had to see what all the fuss was about? ...Me neither.

I've been watching Deadwood season 3 & Weeds season 2 (Both fabulous.)lately so I haven't seen as many movies the past few weeks as I normally do.

Alpha Dog

This was better than I'd expect from a flick starring Justin Timberlake, but worse than I was led to believe it'd be from this guy I work with who highly recommended it to me. The acting was fine, the violence was okay, but the thing I really couldn't get over was the main bad kid. Couldn't they have found someone other than 150 pound white kid with terrible facial hair to play the supposed up and coming drug dealer? I just didn't believe that any of the characters would be taking orders from this clown.

It was alright, but nothing I'd recommend. There are better films in this crime-drama genre.

C+

Vacancy

This is a weird one to try to grade because there were a few things I really loved, and a few I really hated. The concept was pretty original and Luke Wilson & Kate Beckinsale act great, but the ending was lacking and a bit cliche and the lead bad guy was a total dork which makes it hard to believe he could have successfully killed so many people without one of them killing his ass.

They were playing this at the campus theatre here in Iowa, and as it's only my second day, and I haven't really met anyone yet, I thought I'd check it out. Hell, it was free.

While I would say this doesn't hold a candle to Goodfellas, it was still a pretty good watch, all parts played well.

If you have any appreciation for bad movies, you have to see this. I make people watch it when they come over, and they almost pee themselves. ALMOST. If they actually peed, I wouldn't show it. Stand By Me (1986)

Really pretty damned good, and gets a special nod for the great kid acting (yeah, even Feldman), but it doesn't hold a candle to the King novella.

A fucking blast. Akira Kurosawa was an absolute henious at this kind of escapist fare; samarai smarts, full of action, humor, and a powerful hero.

Yes! Finally! Sci-Fi Channel finally decided to rerun Mammoth for me, written of course by RoderickUsher. There were some great lines in this but I'm too tired to recite them at the moment. The deaths were perfectly cheesy and the story was B movie gold. I think I'm in agreement with Sean that this is probably the most entertaining of the films he's written (until LA Gothic comes out).

I won't say I hated it as much as I did before but some REALLY ugly cgi, lame attempts at humor, and poor pacing really hurt this one for me. Some good gore (aside from some of the horrid CGI) and a decent story with a fun twist make it watchable but I would never recommend it. I think I'd bump my score from 3 out of 10 to 5 out of 10.

Where did you see it then?

I watched the Hills have Eyes 2 last night.

It wasn't bad, but the characters were a bit dumb. And I would have edited the begining differently, after the child birth I would have cut to the army simulation, then after they left for the hills cut to the hills and shown the scientists bit and then back to the troops in the truck.

I just felt it would have given the soldiers more character build up, because you would have sensed they were around from the begining. It was a bit disapointing.

Deeply visceral violence.
If you're pissed off at ANYTHING, this is a great cathartic movie to watch.
At first the slow motion CGI scenes of carnage has an incredible 'oomph' and 'oh yes!' appeal, but slowly wears on the nerves as it never seems to cease.
The sex scene was very improbable seeing as King and Queen had been married awhile and a 6 year old kid to boot.
I was expecting Circe to be a TAD more chilling and imtimidating.

I was, I guess, just expecting 'more' from this film.

Blades of Glory

This was pretty much exactly what I was anticipating. A fairly run-of-the-mill sports comedy with a few very funny moments. Will Ferrell is funny, but Jon Heder is not. The plot is predictable and the story rather cliche. It was okay but I wouldnt recommend it to people.

Peeping Tom (1960)

So chilling, like nothing before filmed.
It's kind of cool to look at the two impactful horror films of 1960 and their strategies. Hitchcock filmed Psycho in black and white, hence enhancing it's surrealness (and hiding the fact that his blood was chocolate syrup). On the other hand, Powell chose technicolor for his shocker, and it only adds to the eerieness of Peeping Tom.

Both very effective, both masterpieces (though I prefer Psycho).

The Tenth Kingdom- 9/10

It's cheesy and stuff, but i've grown up with this movie, so I give it that high score. It's your typical fantasy, and it mixes all sorts of fairy tales together, but it has a great storyline..... The ending is kinda sad though.

I know...how fucking good was he in this?!?
Between this, and his role in Eragon, I reckon' he should play more scary bastard roles, it's like he's made for them.

I haven't seen much of his stuff and was going to buy a box set to check it out, what do you think?

"Masters of horror - The Screwfly Solution" 7/10

I thought this one had a great and very frightening story.

I liked how the director, Joe Dante (Never heard about him), left a lot up to the imaginations of the viewers instead of throwing a lot of graphic violence in our faces. I felt those scenes had a much stronger impact that way.

Very cruel stuff.

Didn't quite get the ending though...

I'm definitely the wrong person to ask that question, Dis.

I've always thought Argento was a crappy director.

I don't know why? :p

I don't know what's in the set, but his masterpieces are Profondo rosso (AKA Deep Red), Suspiria, Tenebre, Opera, and The Bird With the Crystal Plumage. Usually, though, in my opinion, anything Argento touches turns to pure giallo gold. I'd say go for it.

Bourne Ultimatum.
Pretty good...I can't really say that any of these films is that much better or worse than the others, as I quite like them all.
This one, only issues were the fight scenes seemed a bit frenzied with the camerawork...other than that, all good.
Nice continuation.
I wouldn't be surprised if the follow up books by that "other" author were taken up for film...they did leave this one rather open ended, and obviously its some kinda cash cow.
I liked it.

Zodiac

This was an alright film, but it was too long. I did like the ending. The acting was good, but could have used more gore to spice things up. If you are really in to dramas or serial killer films based on reality, you'll like this. If you are looking for a horror film, you wont.
