"Undisputed 2" 7/10
There was WAY too few fights in this movie.
Scott Adkins looks extreemly talented and has very much the same hard hitting style and acrobatic jump kicks as Tony Jaa.
Looking forward to see much more of his skills in Undisputed 3.
Oh, and Michael Jai White was in it as well. Blah..

Really hilarious in some parts and long drawn and ,typical cartoonish, hysterical (which i can't stand) in others.
But all in all a delightful watch.

Séance, this was from the writer of Vacancy, which I enjoyed, so I decided to give it a shot... but... once again.. I am let down.. cliche's left and right.. A lot of rip offs.. they steal scenes from the ring and the grudge and of course it looks ridiculous.. On a positive note, Adrian Paul, plays a pretty creepy killer... I think the Idea of a Séance is scary, but this one was not...

Enjoyed this far more than i thought i would.
Gorgeous animation ....
some forced and stilted dialogue between 2 of the main characters - but still - worth it just for the visuals.
and as usual i was surrounded by talking assholes.
why the fuck do these ignorant assholes pay money just to talk through a film - ruining it for others ?

The Running Man & Total Recall back-to-back.
Nothing like revisiting two of my favorite childhood flicks, and still big guilty pleasures. Arnie is his usual self, but more "human" in these two...and both flicks have plenty of moments when his "accent" is pronounced while delivering dialogues.
Sharon Stone never looked more yummier in the latter, while Maria Conchita Alonso was totally out of place in the former. Both interesting premises, with good decent executions. The testosterone levels in the former were at boiling point, while the CGI and makeup effects in the latter were amply evident.
The mutants looked cool, though, despite all that.

mirrors (2008)
it starts off well enough, with some good introductory gore and an intensity that instantly pulls you in. it looks rich and dark. in the first couple minutes, i am pleased.
however, for the most part, it's all downhill from there.
the problem is that mirrors has such an absurd plot that it's nearly impossible not to roll your eyes every few minutes. the dialogue is awful, the acting is mediocre at best, and while it's punctuated with some wonderfully chilling scenes and great gore, it's also littered with awkward melodrama.
by the end, you're waist deep in a mess of plot holes, cliches, and kiefer sutherland.
i mean, it's not all bad. there are some great sequences here and there, and it's very technically well-done.
rent it, though. it's not really worth an overpriced movie ticket.
overall, disappointing fare.

yeah... i have been watching tons of lower budget horror films that have been shot in the last few years.. and nothing is holding up.. I liked that it is was shot during the day for the most part.. ( a budgetary thing, but it still had an effect) ... I liked the very first killing scene because I didn't think the first sister was going to die.. other than that it was crap, but fuck it.. the bad thing here was that the netflix disc has an absolutely horrendous transfer on it. the picture is muddy, sometimes beyond recognition, the audio is filled with pops and hisses, which are often louder than the dialogue and sound.
however, that is a testament to the film itself. despite a wretched transfer, it was still incredibly enjoyable.

Anchorman.
A gem of a movie! I loved the gentle humorous poke that this flick delivers. Will Ferrell is stupendous, and the movie might be one of the best comedies in recent times. And the timing of some of the gags is perfection. My only complaint - it had such a nice premise for being a really biting satire too, and it could have been that effortlessly.
Nevertheless, nice flick.

You know, I dont see why people were so offended by this movie...obviously nobody stayed until the end.
Probably the most laugh out loud funny movie of the Smith ones that I've seen...not the best by any means, but it's still really well written and delivers a ton of laughs. Plus, who knew Ben Affleck could be so fucking badass?
The Pink Panther (1963)
As much as I adore the franchise as a whole, I have to say that I'm not as crazy about this one. It's a great movie to be sure, but once you've seen the rest of the series you wonder where all the laughs went, and why Clouseau has next to no screen time.
David Niven and Claudia Cardinale have great chemistry and certainly did a wonderful job, but the movie just lacks something whenever Sellers isn't around.
I'd never say it's anything less than a great movie - but for my money, A Shot in the Dark is the ultimate Pink Panther flick.

The only two I can think of off the top of my head are Clue and The Hunt for Red October. I know he's been in a lot more movies, I just can't think of them right now.
If you go to imdb.com and do a search on Tim Curry, it'll give you a list of all the movies and TV he's done.Cool.He's becoming one of my favorite actors.I've liked him in what ive seen him in.But now that I rewatched Legend and his performane was great. He was also great in IT.I'll check out more of his movies for sure.

I went on IMDB to look at some things about the cast and the writers. There were a few comments that kind of caught me by surprise - people saying that Brendan Fraser was horrible and stuff like that. I thought he did a really good job - quite a departure from his usual roles.
Meh...most of the IMDB users are dumbasses who have no idea how to appreciate a good movie. I wouldn't worry about them. :)
BTW,can anyone reccomend me a Tim Curry movie?I've seen IT,Congo, and home alone 2.I know I need to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show though. But any help would be appreaciated.
Considering your love for classic horror recently, I think it is IMPERATIVE that you watch Rocky Horror asap. If you love sci-fi and black humor blended with musical action, you are gonna love it. Just keep your brains on the shelf, and enjoy it. ;)
Tim Curry is a fantastic actor. He is the reason Rocky Horror and IT are still memorable even today. Among his other works, I would like to recommend :-
The Shout
Clue
Oscar
Passed Away
First one is supernatural horror, rest 3 are crazy, insane comedies.

Dante, you NEED to watch Clue for Tim Curry. He's hilarious the whole way through, but his manic energy in the last 10 minutes or so is truly a sight to behold.
As an actor, it floored me...the amount of energy and dedication that his role must have required would be through the roof.

The Quiet ~ I liked it more than I expected to, surprisingly effective and well acted at times, though hard to watch. But some of the characters might as well not even be there, and some of the dialogue is just awkward. Wasn't crazy about the ending either.

Ending the Eternal - This one was a prequel to an upcoming feature film, damn good too.

Jack Brooks won't come out until Oct. and is pretty decently hyped. No CGI, good ole' fashion horror splatterfest with a bit of comedy. Home Movie will come out early 2009 and will really chill you, great atmosphere and some brilliant child actors. The shorts are just shorts, probably hard to find, who knows if you'll ever really see them anywhere (although I bought a couple). Ray Harryhausen produced The Pit and the Pendulum while Rue Morgue pictures was the mastermind behind the Demonology one and The Eyes of.... I'd say they're all worth a watch if you can find them, even Coin Laundry (I think that's the name, unsure on that one) which I was the least impressed with.

Good choices, those were the best of show for sure. Ending the Eternal was pretty cool too (I ended up buying the DVD and having it signed) but will probably be included as an extra when the feature film is finally made and makes its way to DVD. Won't be for a while I'm sure, the director was still talking about casting.

Clerks II - *Minor Spoilers*
I had no expectations for this one whatsoever...I figured it would just be Kevin Smith cashing in on his own cult status.
Turned out to be one of Smith's better films. It was nice to see Randall get some character development, and I loved Rosario Dawson's character (another surprise - she usually bugs me). Most of the jokes were typical Kevin Smith - dirty, immature and usually kinda funny in their own little way - but it was the more serious moments that really made the film shine. Randall and Dante's fight in the holding cell has to be one of my favourite scenes in the whole Askewniverse.

Watched some reeeally bad ones this week for some fun.
- House by the Cemetery (1981)
Oh, House by the Cemetery isn't that bad! Its got a couple cheesy moments and the dubbing is horrendous, but otherwise I'd count it among the best Italian horror flicks, and easily my favourite Fulci thusfar.

Haha, well I did have an absolute blast watching it, and Fulci's gore is always awesome.
Most annoying child actor/child actor dubber of all-time...and I loved laughing at him.

I really like the way some Asian horror really gets into the philosophy, and the way strange events are related to a character's psyche. Some people hate Asian horror for just that reason. For me it's a welcome change from the mindlessness of a lot of American horror. I also like the way they often focus on women and women's issues.
On top of that, this film uses color is a very creative manner and has great special effects- not to mention Chinese zombies.
At one point I was feeling like it was getting a little long but not five minutes later it had pulled me back in for an emotional climax and a last minute twist I never saw coming.
Really a fantastic movie.

Malena.
This is such a beautiful, heart-warming and touching experience. Anyone who compares this to Summer of '42 needs to see it first, because Malena is a notch above. It makes you go through a range of emotions - innocence, sensuality, happiness, pain, sorrow, rage...the list is endless. It is a coming-of-age movie yes, but it also has so many other underlying currents riding along that it touches and grips you, and doesn't let go.
And of course, the stunningly beautiful goddess, Monica Bellucci, whom I absolutely adore. She conveys so much with her silence and downcast eyes, its a wonder how this magnificent lady hasn't had more character-driven roles in her career yet.
The direction and cinematography are gorgeous, but watch the movie for Monica, her simplicity, and her amazing chemistry with the boy.
Recommended as a must-watch for all lovers of finesse in cinema.
