I looooove Jacksonīs death-look-alike ghost killer. Very cool and original. And Michael J. Fox was a funny person to cast as the main character. He did an okay job, but Bruce Campbell would have been better.... Of course. LOL

Good, better than expected, but not as good as it could have been. For me, excessive language is a complete trn off in movies. For the most part, it wasnt TOO bad, but in the last half or so, it got really out of hand. But it did have a good plot, and some decent acting.

The Village...My only complaint is tht I found it rather boring, knowing the ending before seeing it (as pretty much everyone did), wasn;t the dissapointment, the movie was.
Definately not MNS's best (unbreakable gets my vote there)...
It's unfortunate. If the guy actually tried to make a horror film, elements of this one indicate that he could do it rather well.
His mindfuck game is just getting old.

I thought ginger snaps was a shitty, BORING movie for the better part, and didn't manage to et ANY scares, or even jumps goin' on.
I understand why fns of the werewolf genre are allways raving about this film though, and (IMO) the similarly overated "dog soldiers", it's because the werewolf genre is largely dead...and the fans cling to what they can, which isn't much.
If anyone can tell me HONESTLY that they think the two abovementioned films are a scratch on the oldskool werewolf flicks of the pre mid-90's down trough the 70's, well...I guess I'd tell them...I dunno what Id tell them, but suffice it to say, a whole lotta  would be involved.
I've continued to watch series 1 of Alias, and have reached the two part episode "the box", guest starring Quentin Tarrantino as a former SD6 agent left for dead, out to rib, and exact revenge on the agency. VERY good episode, rates as one of my favourites.
If anybody hasn't yet seen Alias, I'd definetely reccomend checking it out on dvd. If you're a fan of "LOST", you WILL like this...totally different kind of show, but you can still see lot of JJ Abrams style goin' on.
Again, a kickass soundtrack, solid acting all round...and some VERY cool storyline twists. If you haven't seen it, go buy/hire a dvd box-set.
Watched Fever Pitch over the weekend. I'm not proud.

I surely don't want to see something from someone who wants everybody to say ''Wow, that was really stupid.''

Leprechaun 3
Warwick Davis in Las Vegas. The gore was better than the first two Lep. movies. The acting was mediocre. The plot was average. But one thing I'll never figure out is why in the first Leprechaun movie he has to polish every shoe he sees (That plays in to the end of the movie a bit if I remember correctly.) and in the sequels he doesn't. Anyways, it's better than Leprechaun 2. It's probably right about on par with the first one, but slightly more enjoyable due to more cheesy humor startnig to creep in to the franchise.

Quite good...I mean, I'm seldom thrilled by a movie of this kind, but it was very nice to look at, the "city" was very cleverly done, it was funny too.

I saw Oldboy.
Interesting, although I'm sure they could've thought of a better motivation for the imprisonment...If it were MY film, I'd make the lead character a former rapist or legbreaker that had been hypnotised to the point of not even recognising himself, and having THAT be the big ol' revealation with some kind of sleeper trigger at the end. But hey...as far as oldboy goes...it was all ok.
The plot WAS a little convoluted, they could've went into the background of the girl a little more without revealing "the thing", not to mention, the protagonist, and the friend...there was too minimal a background of any kind of all of these characters.
WEIRD movie.
Very nicely stylised, great score...I DO feel it was a little overrated though. Definately worth seeing at least once.

Leprechaun 4 - Leprechaun In Space - Oh man, this one was the worst in the series thus far. Terrible acting and plot. Average gore. The continuity from Lep3 to Lep 4 is non-existent. All in all, just not a good movie. D
Leprechaun 5 Leprechaun In the Hood - Alright, they started heading back in the right direction with this one and going for a more comedic than scary movie. (Not that the series has ever really accomplished either that well.) The gore was decent, the acting was okay, but I have serious doubts about any movie that Ice T's the most accomplished actor in. (Aside from Warwick Davis of course.) Anyways I'd say this one's better than Lep 4, but worse than 1,2 & 3. And when Leprechaun raps at the end, you'd be better off just turning off your television. D+
Cry_Wolf I didn't have very high hopes for this PG-13 rated horror film but the theater I was at wasnt showing Venom so Cry_Wolf it was... The acting is okay, the gore is mostly off-screen, but there is a lot of deaths. The plot is pretty ridiculous and there is waaaay too much of Bon Jovi. Other than that, it was an average horror movie which amounts to a pleasent surprise when you go to PG-13 not expecting much. C+

This is what any remake should be. Honor the original, while still making another great movie. The acting wasnt great, but it could have been worse. LOVED the twist on the ending, very nice. Overall, kickass movie that I will watch often.

War Of The Worlds...This wasn't what I thought it was gonna be...I'm not sure why, but for some reason, I thought it was a movie about the REAL events that followed Orson Welles's broadcast of the War Of The Worlds radio program (the reading of HG Welles's story), that caused people to commit suicide and kill their families because they believed that it was really happening...I STILL would like to see a movie based on THAT...I honestly had no idea that it was just a remake of the original movie...Perhaps it was just wishful thinking, or maybe I'm just a tard:rolleyes:

FINALLY got around to seeing this after seeing rave reviews of it on here. At first, I didnt think I was going to like it, seemed to out-there for me. But once I got my head wrapped around it, and came up with some excuse/explanation for all the continuity mistakes, it was a damn good show. Bale was great as always, of course, and Taye Diggs actually showed he has talent [All Id seen him in before was House on Haunted Hill].
Overall-
Great movie with awesome performances from almost all involved, but alot of continuity errors that drag it down.

The new version of "Assault on Precinct 13"
Now, I can't rate it compared to the original Carpenter film...which I still intend to see, I can only assume it wasn't quite as good.
However, I thought this one was quite ok...clearly it copped a lot of shit on account of being a remake of sorts, but yeah, I had no huge problem with it.
The violence was pretty graphic in parts, in fact, I was wondering how they managed to keep an MA15+ rating on it here, there were some really bloody scenes (the icicle, the knife under the chin...etc) I thought the first scene was great, very chaotic and cool...The characters...eh, who cares...nothing special in an action film, although I do hate that stupid looking Ja Rule fucker...as predicted, his acting wasn't much better than his music. There were some great action sequences, some good music, and the camerawork worked well for the intensity of certain scenes.
All in all, It was ok...I watched it, but I wouldnt run out and buy it or anything.

Saw
I may have already wrote a little recap for this movie after I saw it in the theatre, but I don't recall so I'm writing another one. Saw is quite possibly the movie that had the most potential, yet failed to deliver. The plot was okay, but somewhat confusing and non-sensical. The gore isn't all that abundant. The twist at the end is absoutely fucking retarded and the acting of the blond guy is just a shade above horrible. When the trailers were running for this movie, I honestly thought it had a shot at making it into my top 10, but after seeing it, it'd be lucky to make my top 200. C-
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
Well, Dennis Hopper does a good job and the gore is decent, but it went far more comedic than the original and I dont think it paid off well. Aside from Hopper, the acting is mid-grade at best and the plot itself is pretty lame. C
Kung Fu Hustle
Very stylish and quite a bit better than I was expecting. It bills itself as 'Kill Bill meets Looney Toons' so I was expecting something along the lines of Kung-Pow, but this was done MUCH better than that. Now I need to check out Shaolin Soccer. B+

I had been putting off watching this one because I really didnt like the first one very much at all. I was pleasently surprised by this though (Probably due to such low expectations.) Not a whole lot of gore, but the acting was decent and the story/plot was far better than I was expecting. I am hesitant to say that it was a good horror film, but I will say I liked it better than the first. (I liked the originality & had a lot of respect for what they did with their limited budget on the first one, but the movie itself kinda sucked.) C

Just got back from seeing Serenity.
As a fan of the "firefly" series, I thought it was great, but cannot comment for those that haven't followed the series. I mean, I suppose enough is explained within the film to give you a basic idea of the events that have occured during the series, and the character history...etc, but I feel that the fans of the show would've definately got a little more out of this film.
A few unexplained elements of the story that weren't covered in the series were explained rather well, and gave the overall tale a little more depth.
There's REAVERS! Lots of 'em...part of the film actually explains how they came into existence, and I thought the way they tied this into it was awesome.
I have to say, there was at least ONE death I wasn't expecting.:( Those that have watched the show will know who and when upon seeing it...a crappy way for a good character to go out.
Funny, sad, dark, good characters and an intelligent, driven nemesis added to the mix.
Even if there's no sequels or another ongoing series (both as rumoured), I feel they completed the story very well. See it if you're a fan of firefly, if not, I'd suggest checking out firefly first.
8/10.

The Terror
I wasn't really expecting much from this so I was really disappointed. It's old, fairly slow moving and absent of any real violence. That being said, I still thought it was somewhat entertaining, if for no other reason than to see Jack Nicholson at such a young age! (This has to be one of his first movies.) Boris Karloff was good too, but the plot was kinda lame. I'm sure this movie was great when it came out but it doesn't hold up to the test of time the way Night of the Living Dead or House of Wax do.
C-
Amelie
This is a very strange, yet stylish French film of a very unique girl and her rather crappy life. It's subtitled so if that's a problem for you, you may wanna skip this one. I don't know that it was as great as everyone I talked to had been saying it was, but it was entertaining. Some parts are kinda funny.
C+
Shredder
Mid-budget slasher film that finds a group of snowbarders straded on a mountain with a fairly creative homicidal maniac. The acting is not great, but not so horrible it detracts from the film, the plot's kinda weak, but the gore is decent. (There is one kill scene towards the end that makes it worth renting on it's own.) All in all, I was expecting very low budget, shitty horror and I got mid-budget & decent gore so I was actually pleasently surprised. I'd say it's worth a rent for cheesy slasher fans.

That's cool. I'd watch it too if I didn't think Fulci was an over-rated hack.

Hood of the Living Dead - It's as bad as it sounds. The budget was really low, the acting was amateur, the gore & kills were mainly off-screen and the plot was very basic. In short, this is pretty much a movie that any of us could make with friends, camera equipment and a couple hundred bucks. Personally, I enjoy watching low budget schlock just because it gives me ideas for my own low budget schlock, but I wouldnt really go so far as to recommend this one to anyone. It's pretty bad.

Part of Van Helsing, but one of my friends called and I needed to do a math assignment, so I didnt get to finish. I atill cant see why so many people hate that movie....one of the better action/horror flicks of recent years, I love it.

Ok, so it was really cheesy and it totally slaughtered the story of all characters involved. So what, it was still damn cool:p

House of Wax - 1953 version
Cant believe Ive only watched this twice. Great movie, one of Price's best. The burning near the first is one of the most amazing scenes ever filmed, IMO. The morgue bit was VERY cool as well. Great movie, and if you havnt seen it, I highly recomend buying the DVD. Only $10 CDN, and it also comes with the 1933 Mystery of the Wax Museum, which is a very good movie also. Great value, great DVD.

Kontroll. Started off as a fairly normal drama/thriller about subway controllers in Budapest. At the halfway point, it swifty transformed into... well, I'm not sure exactly. Surrealism? I have no idea. Strange and altogether unsatisfying movie. 5/10

I gotta couple of questions about this one:
1) The queen laid and hatched thousands of eggs, that VERY quickly grew to full maturity without any host to incubate in...Sooo...Why was it necessary for people to be chosen as sacrifices to host these things? and why, after they were hatched, did they need to attach themselves to someone's face to implant another alien into a host, if it obviously wasn't necessary to HAVE a host in order for them to procreate??
2) The bomb that went off in 2004 wiped out the pyramid and left a giant crater, it also destroyed most of what was on the surface...Sooo, why did the bomb that was detonated in 1904 wipe out every living thing (even the humans on the surface), but leave the pyramid and surface intact?

I just watched "Hostage " with Bruce Willis, it wasn't bad.:D
Watched "The Amityville Horror" remake over the weekend. Not the worst remake i've seen. They seemed to take a page from the recent Asian horror movies and focused on a creepy ghost girl.

Watching Boogey Nights, it's on the part when that kid keeps lighting fire crackers, that shit is so annoying. I've seen it like 5 times in the last 2 or 3 days because I'm at the mercy of HBO right now.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
I had never read the book and didn't know much about this other than that it didn't last too long in the theatres. That being said, it actually turned out to be pretty entertaining. Very original story, grade A acting, and cool sfx, not to mention a very subtley hilarious robot that suffers from depression. All in all, it was really cool looking and I recommend it to people looking for a fun family adventure sort of movie... *shrug* B

The sequel (by the director of Ed Gein & The Hillside Strangler) is very commendable - includes a rather disturbing head-sawing bit.
