Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives
Jason may be alive and well, but this franchise is a sunken ship by this point. Stupid story, bearly passable acting, HUGE kill count, but that's mainly because this film seems to introduce random characters for the sole purpose of killing them a scene or two later. The gore was alright, but this movie stinks.

I remember not being impressed by the first 30-35 mins of the movie...but then Newman totally dominated it. His best work and real Oscar-material, IMO. Lumet was one of those rare group of directors who has done some quality stuff yet never got enough recognition for it.

Yeah, it was definately good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it to anybody the way some have for me. If you're a big comedy fan, you'll probably love it.
There are some really, really nasty scenes, some of them funny, some of them just sick. Don't watch this with parents!

Never read any of the books, but watching this made me understand why my 14yo brother would've liked them as much as he does.
It was pretty decent. Irons was as solid as always. Nice music, effects and all that. Wasn't IMO great enough to rush out to see the sequel/s on the bigscreen, but I'll probably follow them on dvd.

GREAT atmosphere and tension...but...it felt a little unresolved. Yeah, I KINDA get what went on, but it seems like it was a twist of this type, just to have one. If you want a film that'll have you feeling uneasy through most of it, it's got that in spades...

I was really impressed...very creepy movie. The ending was a let-down, but otherwise this was awesome.
I watched this movie one time on SCREAM, in which there was a possible threat/hostage situation and the entire movie was from the cameras of the news team covering it. With interviews and whatnot. It was done very eerily and realistic, but it was quite a bit older. 70's?
Nothing really related, but every time I see that title it reminds me of this film.

POTC3:At Worlds End
Went to see it last night.
I personally liked it a lot better than the second one...although still, I think the first remains my favourite. This time around though, the stunt coreography was fucking great, the action scenes good, the musical score was very nice too...The storyline I quite liked, in terms of (not spoiling) "the song", that was cool. The plot was a little ?huh? at times, but overall not hard to follow or anything - Although seriously, I only understood about half of what Jamaican chick said throughout the film. It was funny, dark, and gaddamn strange in parts, but pretty enjoyable, and an acceptable (supposed) close to the series.
Overall, 7/10 from me.
A good film, those that have liked the series thus far, should not be let down.
Oh yeah, and Barbossa...crazy, badass, and IMO the best character in the film, I'm so glad they kept him around.

Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood
Ugh! This franchise is seriously hurting at this point. Really stupid story, average acting, non-special gore and a pretty stupid ending make this one of the lamest films in the franchise. The whole thing with the girl with psychic powers (which is basically the central point of the entire plot) was just really ridiculously stupid.

Well, this was alright. Good acting, but kinda slow paced for the first 80-90 minutes though. And it was a bit of a surprise to me that the wife failed to mention to her husband that she got double raped. It was alright, but not spectacular.

Brazil - The 143 Minute Director's Cut
After all the hype surrounding this, I was expecting something a bit better. It wasn't bad, but... not my kind of thing, maybe. Some surreal moments, and a truly unique vision of the future... but it's all been done better (to my tastes). Neutral, for me. I'm interested in seeing how the -50m version compares (the entire movie is put together different from a completely new story), but otherwise... won't watch it again.
I watched this as "Comedy" in my marathon with four others. They all said "This isn't comedy..." I wonder why it's tagged under comedy? It shouldn't be. One person really liked, one wanted to turn it off, and the other two felt neutral like myself. So...
- . . . + = Overall Neutral (.)

At first i didn't think Bale could pull this one off. Thought he started out sounding like a cross between a mexian east-coast gangster and Jay from "Jay & Silent Bob". But, as usual, he ended up owning the movie.
The movie itself wasn't particularly great. The story simply wasn't good enough to last almost 2 hours which made the time go quite slow during most of Harsh Times.
That being said, it's in a movie like this i would like to see Christian Bale and Edvard Norton together in.

My only problem with him is, that ever since American history X he has played it rather safe. Most of his movies he's just playing the same character/himself.
But lets see, when the new Hulk is coming up, if he's able to put some color in the rather boring (all thanks to Eric Bana) Bruce Banner character.
I just wish that all the excellent actors would follow in Johnny Depps footsteps and challenge themself in just about evey movie they're in.

I hadn't watched this in a while and couldn't remember all that much about it so I was pleasently surprised by how good it was.George.C.Scott is outstanding in the main role and the scenes featuring his character and that of Ed Flanders for me provide the highlights of the movie, the chemistry between them is great and the comic timing perfect. The cinematography is suitabley eerie and atmospheric making the most of the Church and Hospital settings. The Director really does create a real sense of tension throughout and provides some nice sharp shocks.Overall a very effective Demonic shocker 8/10

After seeing a trailer of this film way back when, thinking the plot KINDA resembled that of a comic I quite like "Y the Last Man"....or, an epidemic of similar nature anyhows. After seeing a trailer of this film way back when, thinking the plot KINDA resembled that of a comic I quite like "Y the Last Man"....or, an epidemic of similar nature anyhows. I like Clive Owen too, and assume he'll be as good as ever...this was one of those films I'm fairly certain I wanted to see, so I bought the dvd as soon as I saw it, and it's been lying here ever since.
Well yeah, it'll be one of those.
They're both excellent films...the difference is, North by Northwest is just exciting, nostalgic action fun, whereas Children of Men is very heavy, very powerful stuff. If your mind isn't crystal clear and your eyes wide open, watch North by Northwest. Otherwise, you'll be blown away by Children of Men.

That is one of my all-time favorite movies. I've seen it 100+ times.
It's huge entertainment. The cast just carries the film so beautifully that the three hour movie goes by incredibly fast, and you're almost left wanting more.
You have good taste, my friend.

Smokin' Aces- 7/10 It was good, great gun action towards the end, some cool twists and turns, cool characters. The problem is that you can't find a character that you like, everyone's too guilty as it is. I did like Alicia Key's character though, mean black women are always entertaining.
Casino Royale- 9/10 This is one of my favorite movies now. Not because of the action, but because of the style. It's perfectly done, just... everything. The dialogue is outstanding, especially between bond and his women, haha. The action, however, is fantastic, especially the nail gun fight, muahahaha. I love the card game scenes too, very drawn out, kinda suspenseful if you think about it. It's just an amazing movie, love it to death.

The Fog (1979)
Sadly, I saw the remake first, so that killed a bit of this one. I will say though, if at any way possible, watch this one and skip the remake. The remake will murder this movie for you. And that is something you don't want because this was a pretty damn good movie.
8/10
One of the few remakes I flat out refuse to see; I usually at least try to give a film a chance, remake or not, but I love the original, and I can't see myself being anything but disgusted by the remake......
Let's see......last movies watched were American History X, one of my favorites, and I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, good cast, great potential, but the movie just falls apart along the way. Too many questions left unanswered, and honestly, it seemed as if the writer just didn't know how to handle the subject matter at times.

For A Few Dollars More again.
i rate this below TGTB&TU and A Fistful Of Dollars.
TGTB&TU was perfect in every aspect.
A Fistful Of Dollars set up a strange and surreal enviroment. nice atmosphere and some great action. loved it.
For A Few Dollars More i feel falls below the other 2. still an excellent film no doubt, i just dont find it to be quite as entertaining.

I'd switch For a Few Dollars More with A Fistful of Dollars on my list. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is easily the strongest film in the series, and one of the strongest films ever, but For a Few Dollars More was closer to it for me than A Fistful of Dollars.
Plus, I love Morricone's score for F.A.F.D.M.

Well, I was a little sleepy so I went with North by Northwest...got through about a half hour of it, and will watch the rest today. I was surprised at how funny it was, and remember NOTHING of it. I like the whole premise, and thus far I'm enjoying it...if anyone could reccomend any other films like this I'd be glad to hear it. I remember liking Vertigo as well, another one I watched once when I was a kid...

Morricones score is certainly stronger in FAFDM than from A Fistful Of Dollars, and a fistful of dollars lacks Van Cleef, but i felt a couple scenes in FAFDM were a little over dramatic when it wasnt need.
ex. the scene when Indio faces off against the blonde headed guy, it was extremely drawn out, and it didnt need to be, because you didnt know the blonde headed character at all. There was also parts in the film that were rather slow, but IMO its still an amazing film, i just like A Fistful Of Dollars more for its strange atmosphere.

If you like North by Northwest, you'll love The Man Who Knew Too Much (1955). It's a similar "man gets caught up in worldly affairs" international thriller also directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Make sure you get the 1955 version starring James Stewart, because Hitch directed an earlier version as well, which isn't as strong.
Of course I'll always recommend Vertigo...it's my third favorite film of all time. It's a hauntingly surreal thriller with ballsy twists and a fierce cast.
I've got plenty of Hitchcock recommendations if you'd like more...

Smokin' Aces (2007)
Over-acted, over-dramatized, over-twisted, and overwhelming. I just found the whole thing a bit juvenile. Great idea...started well, finished sloppy.

Epic Movie
Ach! This was terrible!!! It's like the writer's had no clue what an "epic" movie even was, because if they had, they surely wouldn't have thought that Nacho Libre or Click spoofs belonged in this film. This was just stupid. Unfunny, poorly written, the lead actress was annoying. Run, don't walk away from this piece of shit!

Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan
This one's pretty bad. Lame kill scenes, really stupid storyline, nothing all that original... All in all, just a lame, boring slasher.

The Dark-
This was much better than I thought it would be.The mythos at the centre of the storyline is based on Welsh Legend which gives the movie some originality, there are some formulaic elements but the good outweighs the bad.
The Welsh coastline makes for an unusual backdrop that is well captured by the cinematography.Sean Bean and Maria Bello give solid performances and the two child actors are pretty good too.The movie is not really scary but does feature some quite unnerving scenes none the less.7/10
