Bee movie.
The animations/characters themselves were fairly basic, but I really LOVED the way they incorporated 3d elements into them and the backgrounds.
Storyline was "ok", elements felt very borrowed from (was it ants or a bugs life where the ant fella realised there was "more to life"...etc?) <<that, but other than it was not bad, thankfully Chris Rock is only in the thing for a total of about a minute, and yes, it got a few genuine chuckles. (I'm sure the wasp joke was intentional)
Look, it was ok - Probably "quite ok" if you are into these kinds of movies.
I'd give it a 6.5/10 myself...I rated the first shrek and toy story films at about 8, if that tells you a bit about my system.
I feel inclined to tell those that appreciate animation and nice 3d rendering/effects to head along, the rest, wait for video...not really anything new here.

The trailers merely gave a glimpse of what the package was about. And man...does the package ROCK or what!
One of the most tremendous and hard-hitting movies of the Y2K era of horror, with very neat scripting and cool, totally realistic characters (excellent casting)...and awesome direction. This is totally, utterly kickass...from start to finish.
Comes with a HUGE recommendation from me to all my friends here.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
This movie was super funny. I enjoyed it very much. The cast worked very well together and none of the jokes very forced or even written which is always a great thing. Jason Segel went all out with some of the comedy which I give him BIG props for. Another great Apatow Production.

I have been holding off watching this since I bought it because I am a slacker and boy do I regret waiting. This movie is awesome and I can't believe it got snubbed at the Oscars last year. This film in my honest opinion should have gotten nominated for something. Acting was phenomenal all around and the movie was just intense and awesome.

Most of the free stuff on Comcast on demand is there because it's cheap junk nobody wants to watch. I have found a few gems there, though. Unlike Return I enjoyed Blood Trails. Not innovative or anything, but I thought it was suspenseful- there was plenty of blood- and the pacing was fast. It's good for one watch, IMO.

I agree with you about fearnet. I find it infinitely frustrating that there is nothing but crap to offer, especially since I was so excited when I heard that there was an On Demand horror channel... O, how I was deceived...
Interesting that you brought up Blood Trails... I actually started to watch it because it was the only fearnet movie that was appealing (and I had recently taken advantage of Evil Dead II and was in the mood for watching something new tonight).
I honestly didn't get that far into it. I thought that the movie started out really well, found it building creepy suspense (when she wanders into the cave on her bike, I was reminded of how I felt the first time I saw The Descent - claustrophobic, chilled, helpless), but as soon as the Big Bad enters (though it was a ridiculously wonderful and bloody entrance, which was pleasing), I felt as though it would turn into a just plain Stalker/Slasher film and, I don't know, I just didn't feel like watching a two-dimensional character ("She belongs to me") hunting down another two-dimensional character (she bothered me as a character so I didn't mind the prospect of seeing her go). I don't have a problem with derivative films, as long as their well-done... But I didn't feel as though this one was particularly well done.
And I don't get it - Why would a policeman stop her in the first place?
Then again, I am feverish with very little attention span, so that could have a lot to do with it.
...
What I did manage to get through was Jacob's Ladder (http://imdb.com/title/tt0099871/). I had never seen this movie and had borrowed it some time ago from a coworker. Looking for something to watch, I decided that I might as well pop this one in so that I could finally return it...
and... wow.
Great psychological thriller (though I HATE the term "psychological thriller")... Sufficiently and effectively creepy, builds suspense, character, and pathos, not to mention you actually feel his alienation and confusion, which takes a lot of talent from a directorial and acting standpoint.
I was impressed and will have to own it one day. A/A+

hmmm ... uneven at best.
Mostly a pretty bland film with a few flashes of well written poignant dialogue shining through - but those moments were too few and far between to save this film.
it tried to be a far more important film than it was and failed.
the focus was all over the place - whenever there was something important to be explored - it would shoot off on another direction.
a better filmmaker/writer could have turned this into far more than a Charlie and the chocolate factory wannabe.
was put off by the music and the opening title sequence as well.

"Vera Cruz" (1954)
-Gary Cooper, Burt Lancaster
After the American Civil War, mercenaries travel to Mexico to fight in their revolution for money. The former soldier and gentleman Benjamin Trane meets the gunman and killer Joe Erin and his men, and together they are hired by the Emperor Maximillian and the Marquis Henri de Labordere to escort the Countess Marie Duvarre to the harbor of Vera Cruz. Ben and Erin find that the stagecoach is transporting US$ 3,000,000.00 in gold hidden below the seat and they scheme to steal it. Along their journey, betrayals and incidents happen changing their initial intentions.
Great movie for western fans. Fast paced action, terrific acting and a good plot make this one enjoyable film. I loved it.

I would strongly disagree with that. He's still directing more good films than anybody else in America. The Departed, Bringing Out the Dead, Shine A Light, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, and No Direction Home all add up to a pretty impressive couple of years...especially for a 65 year old who's been making good movies for forty years.
He literally hasn't had a critically bad movie since the turn of the millenium- all certified fresh on rottentomatoes.com. It would be a challenge to name any other director who can even get two in a row.

Very good movie all around. Doesn't have much action in it or anything but it shows how well people use willpower, love of life, and the wanting to live. Christian Bale is brilliant as always and I think Steve Zahn is doing a great job in a serious role. Very well made.

I really liked the ending for what it was, but it still pissed me off! Sure it was optimistic and whatever, but the fact that I KNEW it was gonna be like that it was made me mad. Just ONCE I wish a film would dare to actually DO what it's supposed to. 42 go in. ONE leaves. Sick of that sentimental.... bullshit.
Otherwise, it was a great ending. I'm a bit conflicted.

Watch the last couple movies I've seen. Inside and Ketchum's The Girl Next Door (don't make a mistake and pick up the teen comedy instead). I didn't really like the story to The Girl Next Door but it was based on a true story supposedly so who knows if it could have been better. I wouldn't watch it again but you may like it. One thing it does, in a couple of parts actually, is instill a feeling of helplessness which is a pretty effective tool for a thriller.
Inside was another story, I liked that one from beginning to end and forgave the little hiccups it had in parts because the whole was so good. Both may be a little much for some viewers.

from most of what I hear, it's a lot better/preferred than LOTD was.
I don't know about a LOT better, but I found the atmosphere much more the style I prefer...the camera viewpoints didn't bother me at all, and I actually thought how the footage was put together was pretty cool.
Gory, suspenseful, and yeah, overall a bit more enjoyable than Land, IMO.
Very different type of film.
I'll say, it's almost up there with 28DL/Shaun right now for "modern" z-films.
I think that this was the film/quality that Romero fans would've ideally wanted for "Land", definately had more of Romeros trademark eerie.
**Slight spoiler below***
I liked that not too much of that "zombie memory" stuff comes up, just a couple of throw-ins there, which was good - I don't feel as though an established continuity should be ditched because of fan dissaproval (not that I did personally), I'm glad he stuck to his guns there.

Plenty of gore in this fantasy tale, but the script and direction is a big disappointment. So is some of the FX of the day, (it looks cheesily and ridiculously cheap) but still...Fulci does a decent job keeping it all together. The characterisation is not much to write home about, and there's not much going in the action either. Not to mention the horrid music which makes things only worse.

I couldn't survive without a car... even with gas being $4.00 a gallon. It was a decent film but as with anything made by a human being some of the facts are skewed because of the bias of the creator. Also, (and PLEASE don't get in a political debate here, I could care less about politics right now), I was shocked to see how environmentally friendly Bush's ranch was. VERY surprising, wish we all had the money to do that.

I really didn't like this one in the beginning but I trudged through the first half only to be surprisingly pleased with the second part. There are some effective scenes and while some of the effects are good some are just plain laughable. The CGI too, is abominable, maybe some of the worst I've seen. Sci Fi does better CGI work. Despite all that and the crazy ass plot I had fun with it, some parts even reminded me of Evil Dead. Anyway, this isn't for everybody, but it is the only movie in recent memory that had me asking myself: "Did that girl just choke on a fetus?"

The Brood (1979)
Fantastic! Though they were completely different from each other but I liked it more than Videodrome, the best Cronenberg film I have seen so far. Thanks to all great HDC members who have recommended it so many times already and inspired me to experience this true psychological horror.:)

Amazing movie, if you like Asian horror.
And for SOME reason, I watched "Come On Get Happy" - a TV movie detailing the "behind the scenes" story of The Partridge Family, that manages to be even WORSE than the source material.

I wonder what the remake's gonna lay on us? Definatley a film all the people who start threads on how the genre is dead/fucked/too many remakes should check out.
Last seen: Gruesome.... well half of it been pretty tired from work and narced out while I was watching it (think it would've put me asleep anyways). It had some good reviews and I like to check out most indie flicks I come across but I just wasn't into it. Inspirational in the way that I think I could do something better.

I AM LEGEND...it actually had a bit of a "zombie-like" element to it, I didn't see that coming. Having not read the book I didn't know what to expect, but it was entertaining enough. Will Smith does well to protray loneliness (and how it leads to varying degrees of madness), which is the overriding emotion of the film - along with a good helping of despair. The only other film I have seen better illustrate loneliness is Taxi Driver.

Have you seen The Last Man on Earth (the writer of I Am Legend helped with the script for this film that starred Vincent Price) or Omega Man? I don't think I've really disliked any of the movies based on the novel, which means I suppose I should give it a read.
