"Never Die Alone"
I have to agree with part of one review I read for this movie a long time ago, something along the lines of - "Despite the presence of DMX, it's a pretty decent watch"
Not a GREAT film, but more watchable than I was expecting.

All of you guys said it sucked...BUT, you're usually pretty unforgiving when it comes to judging newer horror movies, so I tend to take your criticisms with a grain (or a ton) of salt...

HOWEVER...

This was the WORST piece of shit I have ever seen (and I've seen Full Moon Video's Killjoy)

This was NOT a 'Horror' movie...Only one person was very quietly stabbed a couple times, and he lived...Only one person died, and that was an accident...

I kept waiting and waiting for something, ANYTHING to happen...and then it was over...

Unbelievable...

been watching some sci-fi series called Jerimiah - i bought the DVD boxset.

it started out ok but 1/2 way into the 1st season I'm more than a little tired of the main character being all wise and all knowing ...

still .. it makes you watch to see what develops.

Red Eye

Blah. Wes Craven needs to get back to making R rated movies and quick! This film was predictable, bloodless (How can you get stabbed in the neck and not have any blood come out at all?), and totally lacking logic. The acting was okay, but the storyline was one that has been well worn out, but this time it's on a plane, so we're supposed to forget that.

Anyways, I thought it sank right to the bottom of the Craven barrel and is currently sitting down there right next to Cursed.

Coming from the guy that gave us some pretty hardcore (for mainstream0 stuff over the years (Last House on the Left, Hills Have Eyes, Nightmare on Elm St., People Under the Stairs to name a few.), this film (and Cursed) just seemed waaaaay too tame for my taste.

The Machinist.
Great morose feel, the score was very nice too...dialogue was ok, very well played, storyline was ok, if a little convoluted, and weird factor right up there. Still a little confused by the whole deal, which is frankly kind of annoying...I mean, guy hits kid, doesn't sleep right, and starts trippin' out? That's really all it was?
Eh fuck it, I was tired and stoned...overall good, I enjoyed it...but didn't leave a great impression.

More of Jerimiah ..

like any TV series i'm starting to get impatient with it .. i just want the damn thing to get over with.

I think DVD boxsets of TV series potentially do an injustice regardless of the absence of advertisments ...

over exposure ... i guess some things are better in weekly 40 minute doses..

Ive always thought her character was a strong point of the film, there's a nice evolution from hysterical screamer to tough cookie esp. at the end of the film. Mr. Savini is probably his own worse critic.

and .. i think at that stage of being a director .. he probably didnt have a lot of creative control ... only the huge established money making directors do. Si i bet for the most part he was pretty much doing what he was told to do by the producers ..

I liked her character too ... Patricia Tallman .. or something like that ..

she was also in Knight Riders .. another Romero/Savini collaberation ..

That seems strange to me that someone with the creativity that Tom Savini has, wouldn't have creative control of a film. Ours is not to reason why I suppose.
I know Patricia Tallman mainly for being in Babylon 5 ,similarly she learns to be a hard ass as the program progresses.

Ok....i'll agree with you on the car flip....a bit too much maybe...but thats what you go into these movies expecting. Kinda like a James Bond feel.

i have to admit - both of them lest me kind of cold ...

some action movie fight scenes leave you feeling that the physicality only exists in the editing room .. thats the way i feel about Statham in both films ...

VS Jet Lee in Unleashed ...

same producer i believe ? (Besson) but far more believable and with a lot more content ..

Transporter 2 was better than 1 but I cant remember a damn thing that happened in eather one after i saw them ..

I did like Unleashed much better than the Transporter movies......but i felt they were on a different level.
Transporter catering more to the action/anything goes crowd and Unleashed more to the thinking mans crowd.....as it were.

Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday

Well the story pretty much sucks and Jason never actually goes to hell, but if you can overlook those two things, this movie's alright. There's some pretty cool gore and the acting is average. All in all, it's not the worst in the franchise, but it's not anywhere near the best either.

C

Deuce Bigelow: European Gigolo

A pretty ho-hum sequel to a movie that was only slightly above average to begin with. I thought most of the stuff with Eddie Griffin was pretty funny and the Norm McDonald and Adam Sandler cameos are always a plu, but this script was lacking any type of quality story.

The Rocketeer

This was a pretty good little popcorn show. You didnt really need to think at all, the plot was pretty good, and Jennifer Connelly is a babe:p! In all seriousness though, the cast was good, Dalton made a great villain, and Campbell, while no Bruce, made a pretty good hero.

Yeah Rounders is awesome.

I wouldn't say you'd have to like poker to like it though. Like you said, it's really well acted and it's not only about poker. Well I didn't say you have to like poker to like the film, just that if you're not into poker then it might bore you a bit. Like you said it's not all about poker but unlike Rudy in which they barely even display a field, poker is all throughout the movie. So you might like it, it's just that when the frequent poker scenes pop up ya might be a little lost for a moment.

It's like you're watching a movie that involves football but isn't completely about football and you come up on a scene of practice. Coach is walking around talking about pulling guards, hitch and go,cover 2 ect. ect. Someone not into football would be a little lost on that particular scene, that's all I was trying to imply.

(as you can tell, I'm a lil crappy at explaining things, hope you got the point.)

the hype will be mostly from the older members of the forum - like myself - who saw it back in the day.
It was unusual and unsettling for it's time.

Basket Case

Wow...what a crazy movie. Duane and Belial have got to be one of the coolest teams Ive seen in a long while. I didnt like the ending though...it was fitting, I guess, it just came too soon. Overall, I really did enjoy it though. Great gore, Belial looked awesome, and the first time we actually saw him was pretty creepy. Definatly recomended, if you havent seen it.

"Jabberwocky" 2/10

Seemed like a bad Monty Python movie, without the Phythons.

Except for Michael Palin who isn´t good/funny enough to make a difference in this piece of shit movie that, funny enough, totally lacks the humor from Gilliams 2 years earlier movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and 2 years later movie "Life of Brian". A shame..

Dustin wanted me to watch it with him......I kinda watched part of it.....Might not have been too bad, if it had been a HORROR movie....Hmm, that made me think of a Tales From The Crypt episode, with the siamese twins...

Jeremiah ..
I finished the 1st seasin boxset.

Although i was growing tired of the preachy predictable bad writing in parts, once it was over i missed the characters.
The friendship between the 2 leads was handled so well that you felt included in it - as a viewer.

now - the sad this is - that this show was cancelled before the end of season 2. apparently it was completed .. but the last few shows were never aired.

I hope season 2 is put out as a complete boxset some day but i dont see why they would bother now . ... which is a shame because after season one you're left hanging ...

Amen.

I feel the same way- Saw was so over-hyped. I just kept hearing all these warnings and ads that all went something like:

"The goriest, scariest movie EVER!"

and

"It will make you sick to your stomach!"

I hate these damn people who have no horror experience and see one new, mainstream horror movie and think it's just disgusting.

Saw was one over-rated film.

Watched "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (1920) last night.

Loved it. It was almost as good as Nosferatu. Almost.

I absolutely loved the set pieces- my God they were so crazy and bizarre. Great film, in every aspect.

seriously, I belive that movie only really effected those types who never really watch horror. I didn't like "Saw" and I really don't want to see the sequil, unless I hear its better.

White Noise

Ya know, I cant see what all the complaining is about. Ive been putting off seeing this cause everyone says it's awful, but I thought it was pretty good. The "scares" were pretty obvious, but some of the imagery was still effective [IE- The 3 spirits]. The ending required a bit of thinking, but made perfect sence eventually. Overall, Id say check this out for yourself, you might be surprised.

i enjoyed it - i'm a fan of michael keaton .. but the very end was cheap and weak in my opinion.

I agree to some extent on that point.

**Spoilers**

The part where he found the torture chamber and got attacked by the spirits was pretty stupid, but I liked the aftermath of the funeral, when he contacted his wife/son. Even though it was a bit of a plot hole, I thought it worked well. The implied death of the suicidal girl was good as well, IMO

What was it that you didnt like about the ending?

^^ I remember that from when I was a kid when videos first came out over here. Kick ass flick for sure. I've been keepin' an eye out for it myself. It'll be one of the films that'll probably never see the light of day on DVD which doesn't bother me too much cause I love the VHS versions of a lot of the older films. Last one like that I watched was Ninja III: The Domination with Shô Kosugi and the chick from Flashdance.... I had a lot of fun watchin that one

The Fly [1959]

Alot different than I expected, but still really good. The effects were phenominal for the time period, and to be honest The Fly still looked damn cool, even by todays standards. The ending was pretty cheesy though...
