oh no, i've seen it a million times. i just meant that it really never gets old. i was reminded of how awesome it is.
regarding "spaced," i've heard about it, and i've always wanted to see it. i found a bootleg of all the episodes once at a horror convention and almost bought them.
i wish i would have. i'll keep an eye out for it the next convention i go to.
Just buy the R2 set.
http://xploitedcinema.com/catalog/spaced-definitive-collectors-edition-dvds-p-10129.html
Less than $50 for both seasons and a bonues disc and a lot of DVD players are easy to hack (you simply enter a code into it) to make it region free.

King Arthur - Director's Cut
This was the first time I actually watched this since I saw it in the theatres when it was released and I forgot how good it was. I really enjoyed this one. To me it was better then some other's like it such as Troy and way better then Alexander. The Director's Cut adds a lot more gore and whatnot which is always fun. Clive Owen is as brilliant as always and I like Keira Knightley in this. If you haven't seen it I suggest you check it out if you like old school war/legend/Roman type of stuff.

If my husband ever makes me watch something this HORRID ever again, I will divorce him:D
Out of Bounds (2004):
This is a story of a school mistress finding out her 'maybe one day famous artist' husband is sleeping with one of the students at a boarding school for girls...I just didn't get it. The ending still has me scratching my head. 2 stars out of 5 because of the beautiful Sophia Myles.

Just Another Love Story
Danish director Ole Bornedal serves up a distressing and moving slice of film noir with a fractured timeline and even more fractured characters. This one isn't for everyone; it's in Danish, it's little slow and it holds an odd eroticism at its core...needless to say, I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see more of Bornedal's work.

I have a job and receive health insurance... I would be VERY upset if I had to pay extra taxes so other people got insurance. Anyway, this probably isn't the thread to debate this.
If there was universal healthcare, you wouldnt have to pay for insurance. You and many others "think" that you are fully insured. Just hope that you aren't in a situation where these companies find some loophole. They do it all the time to the insured. The documentary is not about a free ride. The U.S. health care system is a complete joke and if you seen the movie, you will know why United States is ranked so low when it comes to health care. Go watch the movie.

He wears a rocketpack on his back, flies around and fights Nazis. One of Disney's better live action movies, a decent if silly period piece, and it has Terry O'Quinn in it.

Thank You For Smoking ~ funny, smart.....I liked it more than I expected to honestly.
And two more Masters of Horror episodes....
Incident On and Off a Mountain Road ~ at first, I thought it was way too much like other films I had seen for me to really like it, but the last half hour or so was pretty good I thought.

I saw "Enchanted" a while back...which I thought would be more of a pisstake, but hey, in the end just another Disney movie with a twist, and a bit more "funny" thrown in...the rodent assistants were funny...
Saw "I am Legend" also, which was quite ok, but the original graphic novel WAS better, and I think this movie strayed a little far from it...Nice moody atmosphere.
JOHN RAMBO was next...and, for what it was (a killfest with all of 5 minutes of dialogue) it was pretty fun. Although I'm getting a bit pissed off with all the over-cg'd shit I'm seeing these days, and this film was ALL cg...no squibs...at all?
I understand SOME digital work, but in all honesty it made this film look more like a cartoon.
That said, I'm sure it would be the best drunk movie ever.
ALPHA DOG - Not bad, not great, pretty fucked up.
FAMILY GUY - BLUE HARVEST, well, more an elongated episode than a movie, but I wanted to say how much great fun this was...I downloaded it, but I'm definitely buying it. Some great SW and p.c references, plenty of stupid, plenty piss-takes. Yet retains the general SW feel/storyline.
I liked this a LOT.
Run FatBoy Run
Pretty funny in parts, not bad for a dramedy made by David Schwimmer - I mean, it's definately better than you'd expect outta him...not Peggs best, and not to be confused with works by Edgar Wright - this is a far cry from those...but, it was some light entertainment with some pretty funny scenes here'n there.
Might wanna wait for a video release though.

10,000 B.C.
Given the hype, AND the endless (limitless is a more fitting word) possibilities for CGI to be exploited to the full in this premise, Emmerich's epic was a letdown. For all the movie-lovers who love a good helping of CGI in bits, this movie will rock your socks, but sorry...even with a totally open mind, it failed to impress me.
Plotwise there's not much to write home about - it concerns the survival instincts of various human tribes, kidnapping, rescue and adventure, and confrontations. You have a good idea by now. The characterisation is decent, with a gorgeous Camilla Belle leading the pack. The background score is overtly loud and mis-fitting in some places...BUT, the cinematography is absolutely dazzling. Some of the battle and confrontation sequences are exceptional in an otherwise flat movie.
I would say the direction was the biggest drawback. Emmerich couldn't decide whether to go for storyline/drama, or CGI-loaded sheer histrionics. The end product - a double dish of bloated-splotched experience which looks to promise so much, and delivers so little in the end. Want to see a better concoction? Catch Raquel Welch in One Million Years B.C.
BUT, for the entertainment in sporadic moments in this one, I will give it ***.

I didn't go in expecting a lot and really got what I expected in terms of acting, script, and direction. I did however get a lot more than I thought I would in the gore department, and even toward the end when things started to drag the gore level was kept at a respectable level. Honestly, it almost reminded me of Peter Jackson's early stuff, just with a little less flair. The vacuum and the arm amputation scenes were a couple that stood out I felt.

"Rio Bravo" (1959)
-John Wayne, Dean Martin, Angie Dickinson
The sheriff of a small town in southwest Texas must keep custody of a murderer whose brother, a powerful rancher, is trying to help him escape. After a friend is killed trying to muster support for him, he and his deputies - a disgraced drunk and a cantankerous old cripple - must find a way to hold out against the rancher's hired guns until the marshal arrives. In the meantime, matters are complicated by the presence of a young gunslinger - and a mysterious beauty who just came in on the last stagecoach.
I love this movie. In my opinion, it's Wayne's most "enjoyable" movie. "The Searchers" is his masterpiece and his greatest film, but this one is more fun.
Great cast (and wasn't Angie Dickinson just drop dead gorgeous )and a fun story.

Alien: Director's Cut. (with some commentary in-between)
Needless to say, the mind needed some refreshing...so out came the DVD for a comparative analytical viewing. The Director's Cut is a gorgeous visual experience (the reels look so spic and detailed), and the additions to the much-loved movie we already know are...interesting.
For one, it retains most aspects of the original without going overboard. Some of the scenes stand snipped (like Dallas's queries from Mother regarding disposal of the Alien) and there's a really delicious scene added in the last 20 minutes of the movie. Most of you who have this DVD know about it, others might have read about it...but still I wont spoil it. Let's just say, it solved two queries of the die-hard viewer.
Overall, the Director's Cut is great. By no means perfect, (because IMO it still can't beat the overall effect of the original, which has stood the test of time) it was still awe-inspiring to watch this. The original scores a big 9 everytime for me, and for the Director's Cut I give
8.5/10.

Superman Returns.
Its amazing how an open mind can influence the point-of-view of watching a movie without being too judgemental. We all thought Bryan Singer did a boo-boo by leaving X-Men 3 for this, but those who have seen it have to admit...Singer's special touch for Superman was very savoring and satisfying.
Yes, it has plenty of throwbacks to the original by Richard Donner (including a cameo by Marlon Brando's "image") and the background score is almost totally John Williams, but still Singer manages to make Returns all his own.
The characterisation is very decent, but I thought Spacey was over-doing a bit in some sequences. Brandon Routh was good (doing remarkably well because he does have to fill rather large shoes left by Christopher Reeve), and Kate Bosworth manages to make Lois Lane believable in parts. Spacey was strong...almost over-strong. I liked James Marsden's Richard White a lot, because he makes a perfect little sidecar to Supe's emotional and jaw-dropping histrionics. My only complaint - the Lex Luthor bashing is becoming a bit too worn out by now...let's see Supe take on someone (or something) else for a welcome change.
Anyone who thinks this movie was disappointing because it didnt have loads of action (ala X-Men) or didnt have the pace...I have a piece of advice. Watch it again, carefully, from beginning till end...and after the end credits start to roll out...let the whole experience sink in. Trust me, you will change your tune and opinion about Returns.

The Girl Who Knew Too Much.
With all the giallo talk in HDC recently, I dug out my Mario Bava Collection Vol 1 and treated myself to this beauty. Even after what...30-35 years of its release, its still an excellent visual treat.
Its a pretty impressive early Bava giallo, with all the traditional murder mystery angle. Hardcore fans might be a tad disappointed with the toned down gorific brutality and sexuality, but you have to admire Bava's brilliance in deftly handling the finer aspects of gialli film-making - the background score, the darkly tinted visuals, the perfect creepy settings...and the atmosphere. You will forget for a sec that its totally b/w, and just sit back and admire the genius of Bava, as he goes about this almost Hitchcock-ian tribute with the perfect ease of a master at work.
Heck...I have to agree with Elvis and admit that, between Argento and Bava, Bava definitely holds a slight edge.

Was flipping around cable last night and came across "Deadfall" on the fear.net channel. It had a great cast..James Coburn, Michael Beihn,Nicholas Cage,Charlie Sheen....but the movie sucked balls....mostly because of Nicholas Cage's OVERACTING.

Mimic- 6.5/10
Always a fun watch, although it loses the fear level early on, which irritates me because it could've been so scary.

The Orphanage [El Orfanato] (2007)
http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/3817/orfanatover91qo3.jpg
Laura purchases her beloved childhood orphanage with dreams of restoring and reopening the long abandoned facility as a place for handicapped children. Once there, Laura discovers that the new environment awakens her sweet little adopted son Simón's imagination and one day Simón get missing...perhaps while he was just playing with his new invisible friends?!
A quality ghost story that we have been missing for a long time. Twists, tricks, atmosphere ..overall everything is superb and beautifully portrayed. It has all true potentials to easily alter & take a respectable place in any list of all time great horror movies. I think it'll definitely dominate in the HDC Oscar Awards for 2008-2009:)
Two thumbs up for Bayona.
Highly recommended to everyone who haven't seen this yet.

I was looking at that definatley should watch it again really dug it the first time I saw it. It had really great flow and kept me interested. Do you reckon Woody Allen ripped it off a bunch?
Yeah, I agree. Definitely took a couple cues.

Salo, or the 100 Days of Sodom (1975)
This is probably the hardest movie to watch that I've ever seen. It isn't like Cannibal Holocaust or Nekromantik in the fact that it is totally believable. Though it isn't a horror movie per say, it's one of the scariest films I've ever seen.
