hadnt seen this one since i was much younger ... i remember being dissapointed because of the limited Sci-Fi element.

i enjoyed it a lot more this time because there was a lot more to the story than just flying robots ..that i can appreciate a lot more at my age now

Extremely depressing film - well acted .. just a downer.
I with there was more concentration on the films he made but fair enough - it was about him - not his films.
Unfortunately - a film about Peter Sellers the man, isnt a very nice story.

I loved it. i thought it was so intruiging and I couldn't believe how such an awesome and funny actor could have such a depressing life. Talk about opposite lives between his characters and him.

I found it every bit as depressing. It is a good film and Rush did an outstanding job. But it bothered me having to face how shitty this man could be...lol....I'm sorry, if this is anywhere close to being true, he was. I have such respect for his career, such admiration for the man. And this went to place I didn't really want to have to see. But I guess I am glad I watched it. I know you are right, Urge, most comedians have this dark side to their personality and this constant need for validation. Sad.:(

this is why i keep off screen seperate from on screen. I have no interest in the personal lives of these people ... although i do like autobiographies for the sole purpose of some insite to how the movies were made that they were involved in.

The Peter Sellers movie had very little to do with his actual movies - so i was a little dissapointed at that - while realizing that this was never the intended focus of the film ..

he was a great actor - but a pathetic man - if as you say - even a small portion of what we saw is true ..

The Skeleton Key

I find that when I go into a movie expecting the worst, Im usually pleasently surprised. Not to say this is a great movie, but alot better than expected. Meaning it was half decent. Predictable in some parts, but I actually didnt expect the ending [Well, part of it at least]. It wasnt great by any means, but I could think of worse ways to kill an evening.

Saw Land of the dead last night...I gotta say, I can't see why so many people let the zombie "evolution" thing make this a bad film for them, I mean, it did more or less START in day of the dead, and no-one was complaining then.
Good atmosphere, well suited score, acting....as expected.
My main criticism is the over-cg'd gore, that and it SEEMED a little short. Other than that, I thought it kept the Romero tradition pretty well, and I enjoyed it.

Afterwards I came home and watched some of a Jamie Oliver dvd called "Jamies Kitchen"...fairly interesting idea...

Definatly an odd combo for me tonight...Local video store has a 2-for-1 deal on weeknights, usually we get one my whole familly will watch, and for for just me or just me and my Dad. So, here's tonights selection:

Racing Stripes : Yes, the one about the racing zebra. And yes, Ill admit to laughing from time to time. Mostly at that damn pellican...

Then came the really good stuff.

SIN CITY : Having heard so many great things about it, I was beyond psyched. And wasnt let down at all. Best movie Ive seen in a very long time. Loved how they all tied in with each other, loved the stories, loved the style. If you havnt seen it, see it ASAP. Incredible movie.

i doubt it - not unless you have a real gift ...
you may get a word here and there ..

i've learned a bit of cantonese through a past girlfriend and workmates but that enabled me to recognize the odd word
in a movie - not the other way around.

the sentance structure is too different - there is nothing obvious and the pronounciation is very different from what you would learn taking a course too - plus with all the different dialects - man its hard to learn.

i think you'd need something far more intense than the occasional movie - you need to speak it and practice it every day ..

There's something (more) about Mary 2 disk edition, on dvd.
I hadn't seen T.S.A.M for a few years, and after such time, it was great to see I still found it hilarious. One of Stillers best, for sure.
I wanna see more movies released on dvd like this - in this edition, there were extra scenes that were incorporated into the correct places during the film, I found this really added to the value of the dvd, not to mention the extra scenes were very cool, throwing a few small storylines into the mix. The extended doggy fighting scene had me on my ass laughing.
Nice bunch of "making of" extras, interviews and behind the scenes type stuff too.
I'd highly reccomend it to fans.

Now, I havnt seen TSAM, but the new editions of the Alien movies have that feature...I watched Alien 3 with them turned on.....IMO they made it WAY too long and boring. Much better without. I guess a comedy would be different though...

Anyway, I just watched Blair Witch Project again. I had a friend over, and she'd never seen it, so I suggested we pop it in...great idea. She loved it, I had fun too. [Great movie, great girl...what more could ya want?]

Yeah, I thought it would at least be the sort of bad where its so bad its funny... but it wasn't even that. Like, there were marines that didn't do anything marines would do, and everybody's just throwing around grenades on this boat and all that happens is steam goes off... just blaaahhhhh

The Missing

Am I the only one who thought this was going to be a horror movie? At first I ws disapointed, but after watching some of it, and realising that it was more of a western, I began to enjoy it. Tommy Lee Jones has always been one of my favourite actors, and he was great as always in this. Pretty good for a recently madde western, Id reccomend it.

Saw Kung-Fu Hustle on the big screen.
I'd seen it a few months back on a sub-standard dvd...but I knew that if it EVER came out on the bigscreen here I'd have to check it out. So, I got my ticket paid for too. Sweet fucking deal.

What can you say about it...? At no point does this film even ATTEMPT any kind of realism, pure martial arts phantasy mayhem...its nuts...yet the movie manages to take you into this world, and it's thoroughly enjoyable. It actually has a pretty decent storyline, and some very likeable characters...starts out a little slow, but all the same...I love the scenery, the sets, the music...and it's one of the funnier asian films I'd seen in years.
Badass fight scenes. VERY interesting visual effects, sometimes subtle (the cat:D), sometimes completely over the top.
Feels kind of like a cartoon, but on another level.

I've thought this for a while...if they DO make te rumoured DragonBall movie, they gotta get this guy to direct it.

Id reccomend seeing this to anyone. For those of you tht cant stand subtitles, check out the dvd, I'm sure there'll be a dubbed edition before too long.
For fans of THIS film - you NEED to check out Shaolin Soccer, the film Stephen Chow did prior to KFH, totally different, but funny as all hell.
Here's hoping a few more of his films make the big screen...

I like parts of it, because Depp did do such a good job. And I swear his hair in that movie was a character all on its own....:D Anyway some of time when he is just alone in the house and acting wacky, it is just priceless. So I think he made it much more enjoyable than it would have been otherwise.

I saw "Duplex" a week ago. Not a very good or very funny movie, but Stiller had his "Ben stiller" moments (2 to be exact) that had me in tears. But grrrrr... What an irritating story.

Last night, I watched a film that Ive never seen mentioned here, Dark Heritage. REALLY low budget from the late 80's. The acting was beyond horrible, the scrpit was poorly written, and the direction wasnt anything special...but for some reason, I thought it was great, and it definatly had some moments. Example: The gore. Although it wasnt plentiful, or even very well done, it was certainly very effective simply due to it's unexpectedness. Sure, it was obvious the guy was gonna die...but I sure as hell wasnt expecting that. It was pretty predictable too, but for whatever reason, I enjoyed it.

If you ever have a chance to check out this prime example of what you can do with a shoestring budget and a public domain Lovecraft story, check out out!

I have to agree with Angra on "swingers".
I was honestly bored much of the way through. I usually like Vince, but...I gotta say this was one of his UNfunniest.
The plot was pretty well...non existant (not that this matters to me in most cases, if certain elements are there), and the time spent watching it just crawled. Didn't even leave enough of an impression for me to remember if I watched it to the end or not.

A combination of the fact that the two main characters reminded me of those loser asshole kinda guys that were outta highschool a few years, that still attempt to chase younger chicks like lame-ass cradlesnatcher has-beens, and the wanna-be psuedo hip dialogue had me wanting to punch just about every person involved with this film.
Just my opinion, overrated unfunny trash.

My advice, go see "made" instead...a slightly better, and less irritating attempt at funny.

And Cheeb, it really doesnīt matter if you didnīt see it all the way through. It was all the same anyway. From beginning to end.

But seriosly, it's a great scene. Not to be taken serious at all....the guys reactions are great.

John Travolta doesnt make much of a villain though...which kinda disapointed me, I love me a good villain in a movie like this.

I took my little cousin to see Valiant last night, fell asleep after about a half hour but for what it's worth the 5 year old thought it was great.

Kinda pissed me off that I was in a theatre full of kids and it was quiet enough for me to sleep a solid hour when just the other day I was in a theatre with little over 30 "adults" watching a movie I'd patiently waited 6 months to see and was constantly distracted.

"Beautiful boxer"

A thai movie with the amasing tagline:

"He fights like a man so he can become a woman".

Sounds like a joke, but this is actually a good and VERY different martial art movie.

Could have wished for a lot more in the stunt department. But itīs the story thatīs important in this one and itīs fun to think that "Beautiful boxer" is based on a true story.

The atmosphere and most of all the floating vampires. Iīve never seen more scary looking vampires than those in Salems lot. Itīs the eyes, i think. Creepy.

And i like the long build up before the scare starts. Makes it more frightening i think. There was actually a lot of scares that worked for Tobe Hooper in this movie. At least I thought so.:)

But for PG-13 style popcorn horror it's as good as any of other teen horror movies like that. I think you have to judge things on what they are meant to be, this is cheesey teen fun and not a hardcore gore fest.

If sometimes you just want to rent something cheesey with maybe some peeps who are not into rape revenge, gore and supreme violence then its a perfectly adequate time killer.

Just my opinion though everyone has to actually view things for themselves to decide.

"MUAY THAI-NAI KHANOM TOM" 2/10

Another thai martial art movie.

The story describtion on the back of the cover says everything about the translation in this movie wich might be the worst iīve seen so far. Here goes:

"Kanomtom was born from Kerd and Eee at Kum, has sister name Aei their family got kill since was young, then he stay with mong name Kong at the Pekka temple. Kanomtom learn Muay Thai from silent person and fought with Burma until he got caught after that King Mangra of Burma made the competition of fighting between thai people and Burma people.
Kanomtom is one of Thai people that fight and if he win, he could ask anything from King Mangra. Kanomtom fight with Burma 9 people and he won after that he request to release Thai people to be free. King Mangra have to release Thai people because he has said then Thai people free, after that King Mangra said that "Thai people are so dangerouse, they could use even bare hand to fight with a people".
