As for the Mother breastfeeding and killing for her baby.I find this completely plausible as id kill for my three sons as they can be demonic at times!
I didn't think of the teething part.. Yeah I'd kill for my son, I think I'd switch to formula, but on the otherhand if I had lost my baby mid pregnancy like she had I wouldn't carry full term so this wouldn't happen to me :D .. Basically she had a miscarriage but chose to go full term and after holding her baby for a bit after the birth the baby came back zombie :S ..very strange..

She would also probably die of some hideous infection...or absorb the baby and find it years later as some calcified mummy in her womb. But thats another potential horror!

Yeahh, it didn't make sense to me.. I swear I read about a woman who was pregnant but didn't give birth for 40 years and the baby was literally mummified..

Didn't really have high hopes for this one, as it seemed to be universally panned... But with my Man Clive Owen and an incredibly intriguing movie poster, I just couldn't help myself...
But it was really a waste a time. You have a fairly interesting concept, two parallel stories that are intertwining, but ultimately the "twist" winds up being fairly easily predictable and the latter-half of the movie is incredibly overwrought.
It's a pity because I would say that at least Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later and Intacto) was trying something different (and I do have to say that the daddy/daughter scenes between Clive Owen and
Ella Purnell were utterly charming), but it was ultimately boring, predictable, and over-done.
2.25/5.

Carnage (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1692486/) (2011)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/Chronogrl/carnage.jpg
Carnage is Polanski 's latest feature film, adapted from the play God of Carnage by French playwright Yasmina Reza and stars an utterly brilliant cast of Jody Foster, John C. Reilly, Christoph Waltz, and Kate Winslet. The drama centers around two couples trying to settle a strife between their school-age sons civilly, but awkward conversation soon devolves into an incredibly tense character-driven black comedy.
The acting is utterly ridiculously good, which is no surprise. Christoph Waltz is as menacing as a passive-aggressive egomaniac while Jody Foster is pathetically anxious and high-strung and Reilly and Winslet bring in fantastic performances as well.
My only issue with this movie is that I'm not sure it translated all that well from stage to big screen. Plays have a certain claustrophobic element to them, being that all of the players are literally trapped on stage... But in this environment, I found myself asking what I ask all victims of a haunted house: "WHY DON'T YOU JUST LEAVE?!"
Reminds me a bit of Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf but ultimately left me wanting more. It's not terrible... Just not as great as I had anticipated giving the cast, director, and source material.

Red Lights (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1748179/) (2012)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/Chronogrl/red_lights.jpg
I have to be honest; I'm such a fanboy. Just seeing that Sigourney Weaver and Cillian Murphy had top billing was enough to me (despite the red flags of awful trailers and the fact that I am now wary of anything that stars Robert De Niro). I should have listened to the part of me that said Wow. That movie looks just play awful. No wonder I haven't heard of it.
Interesting concept (paranormal investigators who seek debunking "activities"), great cast, but it was BORING. BORING BORING. And then when it actually got interesting, it was so far-fetched that I just lost interest.
It's worthy of note, though, that I experienced my first earthquake during an exciting table-shaking seance scene, so that was pretty horrifying and off-putting... But, sadly, it was the best part of the movie.
2/5.

Martin (1976)
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh11/RubberSoul28/MARTIN.jpg
My all-time personal favourite film. It is beyond me why this film is so obscure and overshadowed by Romero's zombie trilogy - it is in fact probably his best film (in my opinion).
The story gets me - I love the idea of a 17 year old boy who believes himself to be an 84 year old vampire (or perhaps he is indeed a vampire, who knows). I love the way they don't need to give the audience the answer to this question and leave it open to interpretation.
I just really dig the vibe of this film. The music is haunting and melancholy, Amplas' performance is beyond perfect (it was like he lived the role), and all the elements just come together to make this one of the most beautiful and haunting films out there.
VERY highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't gotten the chance to see it.

Basket Case (1982) Never seen the sequels to this so thought I would start by watching the full uncut version of this. The difference is obviously the death scenes are more bloody and longer. Still the blast I remembered it to be. Hilarious on so many levels. Really looking forward to seeing the sequels now.

Vile- It started off promising enough, showing a doctor cutting open someone's chest then pouring salt in the wound by literally showing handfuls of salt into the man's chest. The story ended up being somewhat close to that of saw, A group of people woke up in a house and had to torture each other to extract chemicals from their brains and only when a certain amount is obtained are they let out. The acting was so bad my GF didn't want to watch it anymore, So I'll have to revisit it later on.
The Devil's Rock- Holy shit was the cover of this movie misleading, I thought it was about an actual rock group based on the picture. It's about a couple commandos who head out to a Nazi fortress in an attempt to sabotage their secret weapons, which turns out to be a shape shifting demon. Based on that description I thought I'd like it more but ended up falling asleep because it was pretty slow and the sound quality was shit. Will have to rewatch this as well.

"Trick r Treat" (2007)
Plot: IMDB
Five interwoven stories that occur on the same block, on the same night. A couple finds what happens when they blow a jack o' lantern out before midnight, a high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer, a college virgin might have met the right guy for her, a group of mean teens play a prank that they take too far, and a hermit is visited by a special trick or treater.
Phantom's Review: Let's face it guys, as Horror fans, we have to sit thru a lot of crap looking for something that's good to watch. But every now and then a film comes along and makes it all worth while, for me "Trick r Treat" was one of those rare little gems. This is a great movie. Terrific acting, a superb story that blends several interlocking stories together, very atmospheric. It's a nice blend of scares, gore and humor that really captures the "spirit " of Halloween. I think this film is going to go on the list of yearly treats that I watch. Highly recommended.

The Cabin in the Woods: Really enjoyed this one, proper popcorn movie. I thought the 'excuse' for following the typical slasher set-up was inspired. It does a great job of walking the line between giving the viewer what they want/ expect while still twisting enough to keep it feeling fresh and innovative. The best thing about this flick is it shows that you can satirise a genre while still being creative and offering a fresh approach... Pastiche cinema is largely the norm these days and its often an excuse for mediocrity, so its nice to see it done with some style for a change.
SPOILER:
Totally didn't see the cameo from Sigourney Weaver comming, which was awesome & loved the merman death scene...Was one of those scenes you see comming from a mile away but still can't contain your excitment over.
Quality flick, its definatley one I'll be adding to my collection and watching again.

Halloween (Zombie)- 5/10
I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I like Scout as Laurie, despite her not so incredible acting. She feels relatable to me. I hate the way Zombie tries to make Michael a majorly fucked up psycho based on a shitty childhood. It just doesn't fit his level of crazy. I truly dislike the first half. I enjoy the second half for what it is,a decent slice-em-up movie. I definitely enjoy this one more than most of the stupid Halloween sequels. I also like to see Michael as an unrealistically hulky beast guy. It looks cool, let's admit. I truly like the way Michael is depicted in both the remake and the original as they have different values of scary. In the original he's an absolute who we don't understand, with a motive we only somewhat understand. His slim figure and silent demeanor only make him more terrifying. In the remake we have an unstoppable force with a pea brain. Either way, people get stabbed and there's a lot of screaming.
Rob Zombie's Halloween 2- 7/10
You can freak out all you want, but I really like this movie. I'm not entirely sure why, since this is the only movie by Zombie that I can say I actually liked. The tone is interesting, the way it's written is kind of cool... I don't know. It seems like he planned the whole first movie as a set up to this (duh) but it feels crafty. I like the way it plays out, even though it's technically crappy by most people's terms. The theatrical ending is much better than the dvd ending, which is pretty cheap.
Time to watch about 200 more slashers.

Basket Case 2 (1990) Even seeing the original Basket Case recently couldn't have prepared me for this slice of insanity. The group of freaks on show here are stellar with my personal fave-the man with 17 noses. In a way this film nicely bridges the gap between the shoestring budget sleazeathon original and Frankenhooker. Also it's extremely dry not just the humour absolutely everything here. There's no way Henenlotter could have done another basket case so this is quite different. There's no animation and Belial is far less scary if you could call him scary to begin with. But it's all so ridiculous and trashy it's hard not to smile at the warped scenes. A must see for Henelotter fans.
Darkness (2002) Occult horror slow burner. I think my mind was still warped from Basket Case 2 so I didn't *get* everything but there was a lot going on so I think I may give it a second watch at some point.

Plot: IMDb

Phantom's Review: Vampires have always been my favorite movie monsters and before they were ruined by sparkly, twinkly pansy boys, they were like this: Scary , violent and powerful. "John Carpenter's Vampires" shows them like this. The film is well made. Has some good scares, plenty of violence and gore and has some damn sexy women and James Woods is totally bad ass as the veteran slayer with a personal grudge against vamps. Highly entertaining.

Wild Bill - Following his release from prison, former drug dealer and local legend Bill is reluctantly forced to play Dad to his two sons whose Mother has abandoned them.
I was worried this was going to be a clone of every other cockney gangster film, full of cliches and pissed off granite faced geezers, and whilst there is some of that there is much more on offer.
The cast is excellent and chock full of British talent, standouts are Charlie Creed-Miles as the titular Wild Bill and Will Poulter who plays his eldest son. After dominating The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader as the sour faced Eustace, and here playing the put upon and resentful teenager Dean,it will be interesting to see what Poulter can do in a role that does not require him to be quite so annoyed all the time.
First time director Dexter Fletcher's depiction of the gritty, underpriveleged and often violent lives of the main characters is balanced by uplifting moments of real heart and humour (Due in no small part to Flether's own co written script).
Wild Bill was not a film I was expecting anything from, but now I would consider it something of a little homegrown gem. 9/10

-The cabin in the woods (US)-----6/10 (nice tribute film, hated some parts and some "effects")
-El sanatorio (costa rica)-----5/10 (it gets worst if you are not familliar with the urban legend that t's based on)
-Zombie 108 (Taiwan)--------6/10 (its ridiculous but has something)
I Don't think I would watch again one of these movies

I've always loved this, since it came out and I watched it on tv with my mom, not knowing anything about it. I'll say it's still a steady contender for best werewolf movie, period. My only gripe, other than some things that are budget based, is the overacting gets a little silly near the end. People act odd in tense situations but this outrageous overacting just looks a little off to me. Still an incredible movie with excellent progression. Never gets boring.

Ghostbusters.
I remember seeing this one in theaters when I was young. I just saw it in HD. It's still a perfect scary/comedy movie. Perhaps because I live in a city with old buildings with gargoyles and stuff makes the ideas in Ghostbusters even more freaky.
The Signal..What a top film.I loved it.I then thought id watch something easy on the eye so Snow white and the huntsman got thrown on.Great imagery and could have been rather good but Thor blokes faux Scottish accent was offputting and Charlize Therons acting was positively pantomine.I spent the entire film trying not to fall asleep.

"Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning" 7-8/10
Compared to the original which was great fun, this one is surprisingly dark, containing no humor whatsoever and has so much atmosphere, blood and gore that it could pass as horror at times. Very weird for this kind of movie but also very very cool, i think.
The story was quite confusing, but otherwise i found DoR very well made on a decent budget. And besides that it stars Scott Adkins, so what the hell.

"Snow White And The Huntsman" (2012)
Plot: IMDb
In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen.
Phantom's Review: First the good things, Charlize Theron is excellent as the evil queen. The movie is beautifully filmed, it has a kind of "Lord Of The Rings"style going for it. Some good special FX and fine action scenes.
The Bad things: Sadly, the worst thing about the movie is Snow White herself. Kristen Stewarts vacant, dead behind the eyes stare gave her a look of somebody who is perpetually stoned. Her acting abilities are non existent and she has the emotional range of a paper bag. I have never seen her before in a movie and if this is the best she can do, then I truly don't understand her popularity. This is a film that should have been great but instead is only OK.

Basket Case 3-The Progeny (1992) This was ok but not as essential as the first two films-I guess the joke starts to wear thin at this point and some of it's best scenes are spoiled with a less sharp script than expected. Only for Henenlotter fans.
Night Warning/Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker/The Evil Protege (1982). One of the few video nasties I hadn't seen and it was definitely worth hunting it down. The version I saw was the VHS R Rated one so I guess there may have been cuts. Nevertheless this is quite a hidden gem. Controversial with plenty of taboo breaking subject matter and believeable characters. For once I actually hated the characters the viewer was supposed to hate and liked the ones the viewer is supposed to like. Quite a unique little film that towards the end transcends its low budget. Not shocking really nowadays but definitely worth seeing.

American Zombie.
This was... interesting. Low-budget mockumentary set in a time when zombies are commonplace and are involved in a struggle to be recognised as people with rights.
It's not really about zombies... it's more about the dynamics of student filmmakers, documentary filmmakers and the way they exploit their subjects.
The plot and "surprise twists" are telegraphed broadly early on, so there's not much interest there. I think this would be of interest mainly to film students who will identify with a lot of the very low-key humor.

Special Halloween screening of The Shining (1980) What better way to spend Halloween than go to my local cinema (a sold out audience) and see this Kubrick masterpiece :) On the big screen the cinematography and sound were outstanding. Plus we got to see extra scenes not on the previously released DVD of it that I have! There several of them. The best new scene being near the end when Wendy runs into a room packed with cobwebs and corpses. Despite the packed crowd and that the whole thing was just under 3hours (though that did include some shitty adverts and trailers at the start) but the audience was all in full concentration and not as noisy as usual-yes there were still a lot of people eating, drinking and going the toilet but the film was loud enough to drown all this out. I could go back and watch it again-I enjoyed it that much :) Going to have to lend my mate a copy of the book as thanks for getting us tickets for it :)

Looper (2012)
A fine sci-fi time traveling thriller but didn't get why the hell they did that awful & unnecessary eye-make-ups for Joseph Gordon-Levitt?
>>: B-
Sinister (2012)
The idea & the creep factors were promising with a few well developed characters & some fine family drama elements. But I was more interested to see more of that supernatural demonic evil entity "Bughuul" than the ghosts of those lost/possessed children with silly make-ups. It could worked better if Baghuul got more screen presence & some direct business behind those fantastic family murders. Expecting to see Ethan Hawke doing more Horror movies in future.

Taken 2 (2012)
More or less same like the 1st part but they should have add more fight scenes than shoot outs & car chase sequences.

Paranormal Activity 4 (2012)
The "best" & creepy part of watching this movie in the theater at around 10:30 PM was the number of audience in the theater was only 2 including me! And I guess both of us were very doubtful of each others intention (other than watching the movie) of being in the theater at that time. But after first 20 odd minutes some scream-queen like ladies filled some empty seats & I get my attention back to the movie.
An almost pointless sequel with pretty low & average scares.
>>: C-
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
**SPOILER ALERT**
Luckily got the chance to catch it on IMAX-Siam Paragon, Bangkok. Overall, bit disappointed as I expected a lot from this concluding part of Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy (particularly after hearing/reading lots of good stuffs about it). Found it bit messy at times as there was a clear rush to show & put so many things that could be managed better in form of a mini series I guess. So certainly, not comes near to THE DARK KNIGHT (2008) in terms of a compact & beautifully designed plot structure, character development & even action sequence. Still it was entertaining though. Mostly liked its finale & 'The ROBIN Begins' elements of this final installment. Before rebooting the whole franchise with a different director(s), I think WB & DC can at least offer Mr. Nolan to produce a spin-off movie about the Boy Wonder, staring J Gordon-Levitt.

I understand your point & I'd like to agree with you if they could come up with a better alternative of evil presence or force who's working for Bughuul. I'm not saying that I didn't like the idea of kids or possessed children thing (which is the main working area of Bughuul's style of terrors) but the way they revealed them on the film with some silly make-ups...just didn't work for me. The atmosphere & the build up were excellent and so I was expecting to blown away by something really cool & creepy at the end but bit frustratingly didn't get that.

I haven't really seen a whole lot of Cronenberg flicks outside of The Fly, so I figured that now was as good a time as any to catch up...
I found this movie interesting; definitely influenced by Hitchcock, but I thought it took itself way too seriously at times and the acting wasn't always great... I thoroughly enjoyed the one shocking scene, but found this mostly boring and dated.
2/5.
I think the over acting saves this movie and keeps it from being boring. Oliver Reed is in fine form throughout. I agree that it takes itself way to seriously, but I kinda think that's what makes it work. I think I love it for the wrong reasons really, but as long as you don't take it as seriously as Cronenberg obviously did, its ticks all the boxes... Mad scientist, psycho kid with mallet, nice directing, excessive acting & script. The opening scene alone makes it one of my faviourite Cronenberg flicks.

Three friends get trapped in a sauna. It's like Frozen in reverse and by that i mean it sucked.
The characters couldn't have been more annoying and fake. The acting was terrible, all the lines were delivered with a horrible awkwardness like the actors didn't even know what they were supposed to be doing and the dialogue itself was terrible.
I didn't feel for the characters and there was no element of fear at all especially since the characters left the sauna three times before finally getting locked in. How am i supposed to be afraid of that place and feel bad for them when they had so many chances to not get locked in a room?
I couldn't even finish it, it was so bad.

SPOILERS:
I kind of would of liked to see another monster besides zombies throughout the movie....i mean i know we do get to see a lot more, but as the main villain with them choosing the book.
Another thing I liked was the title sequence. very similar to Funny Games. :)

Other than that I loved it and would watch it again :D

The Haunting In Connecticut (2009) Excellent supernatural horror that touches on the infrequently tread subject of Necromancy. Very impressed that instead of a collection of lame jump scares they went for a cumulation of horror and worked hard to supply a tangible atmosphere of dread. Not your usual haunted house pic but I would take the "based on a true story" tag with a pinch of salt. Highly recommended for fans of occult horror.

I need to see that-looked good from the trailer :)
Stephen King's Riding The Bullet (2004) One of the worst ever King adaptations-appallingly dull, unnecessarily cerebral (possible outcomes in the future through the mind of the protagonist that grows irritating not long in), unrealistic characterless villain, could have been much more atmospheric with a lower budget, overproduced and pretentious (allusions to allegory in "dream" sequences that are a complete mess) without any essence or true substance. Avoid like the plague. If the book is anything like this I will also avoid that.

Just got sent a copy of Jennifer Lynch's "CHAINED" for review. I had a few doubts about this one going in, had heard that it very closely mimicked Steven Mena's "Bereavement", though I have to say (for me at least) "Chained" was a vast improvement.
Sure they shared a similar central premise, though not as close as some might suggest, and it did follow many of the age-old tropes associated with the serial killer genre - but, I thought it was a stylish and interesting attempt. Vincent D'Onofrio again uses his hulking physicality to great effect, and works well as the brick wall of evil beneath which newcomer Eamon Farren finds himself trapped.
Again, this is no break away reinvention and there will be many that question the validity of the films somewhat uneven and awkward denouement, but there are elements here that do deserve a look see. “I shall call you… Rabbit".

Moonrise Kingdom (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1748122/) (2012)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/Chronogrl/moonrise_kingdom.jpg
FINALLY saw Moonrise Kingdom over the weekend. Wes Anderson is one of my all-time favorite directors. However, I think that his brilliance can work against him at times; ever since Royal Tenenbaums, I have had ridiculously high hopes for everything that he has put out, which unfortunately means that sometimes I'm disappointed (Life Aquatic) but sometimes I'm absolutely blown away when those high hopes are exceeded (Darjeeling Limited).
With the anticipation of Moonrise Kingdom, my hopes were just as high as usual. And, don't get me wrong, it was an incredibly beautiful movie, the new players to his cast were superb (both the young lovers Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward were incredible, and Norton and Willis were absolutely perfect), the tone was his usual removed tenderness, and this movie felt as though it was almost an homage to himself.
But while I did enjoy the movie, there's something about it that was a miss with me that I just can't put my finger on - It was good, yes, very very good - But the great and mind-blowing epic that people painted it to be? I'm not sure. I felt as though I was watching a piece being performed that I'd seen many, many times before, waiting for its cast to hit the high and low moments on schedule - Mayhaps this is the "trap" of following your own stilted formula; what you do is expected, and so, in the end, the finale isn't necessarily fulfilling; it's just expected.
What I DID like about the film (outside of the actors, and the more I think about it the more I absolutely adored Norton) - (CONTAINS SPOILERS):
The allusions to Peter Pan, Wendy, and the Lost Boys, even culminating in them wearing animal garb (the scene of her reading to them was simply beautiful).
I feel we came full-circle on the "lost father" theme that appears in all of Anderson's films. Seeking or mourning a father figure is a huge theme in his movies and the fact that our main character finally "finds" a father in the end - Simply wonderful and touching. I feel as though this was a moment Anderson was leading us to for 14 years and 5 movies. I did know that it was coming, however, and I thought it would be Norton who would step up.
All in all, I think this movie was very, very good. I might have a better appreciation for it after a second viewing (I am currently working on rewatching Anderson's repetoir right from the very beginning), BUT I wasn't blown away.
I still maintain that:
The Royal Tenenbaums was his opus, his absolute masterpiece.
and
Darjeeling Limited is my personal favorite.
3.5/5.
...
Bottle Rocket (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115734/) (1996)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v623/Chronogrl/bottle_rocket.jpg
After being a bit confused at my disappointment in Moonrise Kingdom, I figured it made sense to start at the beginning and rewatch Anderson's works to see if they still resonated in me as they had in the past.
And it's been a long, long time since I've seen Bottle Rocket.
All in all, I thought the movie was just ok; I think my favorite part was the romance between Luke Wilson and Ines, though watching the Wilson brothers together with Owen slightly unhinged was fun.
Definitely a bit slower than I remember, but interesting to see how Anderson got his start. Not a bad one, but not one of my favorites.
3/5. (I think it gets a nostalgia mark-up - I don't think I could ever give Anderson less than a 3 :o)

Wes Anderson is one of my favourite directors... The Hotel Chevalier short before Darjeeling Limited is quality along with the film. Ouside of the crime caper plot of Bottle Rocket, the story is beautifully crafted with some quality acting . Anjelica Huston is amazing in Steve Zissou and I thought Jeff Goldblum was an inspired bit of casting. Jason Schwartzman & Bill Murray are a great duo in Rushmore... Everything Wes Anderson does looks stunning. Can't wait to see Moonrise Kingdom.

My least favourite Wes Anderson movie, only seen it once.... I don't know whether his attention to detail just didnt translate as well to animation/ stop motion or this was just more of a studio driven movie, but I didn't really get into it. I didn't hate it, but outside of some obvious Wes Anderson styled camera work, it feels the least like a Wes Anderson movie.... Don't really think Clooney/ Danny Ocean quite belongs in a Wes Anderson flick either.

Hostel 3 - Def a 3rd edition movie. Sucked. Barley any gore. No interesting plot, ending was predictable. It was in Vegas and it was people paid to kill people it was them betting on how they would die and how long it would take. ehhh There was a reason I keep passing over it. The first kill was the only interesting part.

I'm really sick of these is he or is he not crazy movies. It's fine everything once in awhile, i thought Take Shelter was a great example of this, but they're just not my favorite kind of movie. It might be that i'm a little bias since i love monster movies but i just didn't like that technique the way it was used here. I finally saw "The Dark Knight Rises" this weekend. I enjoyed it. A little long, but overall I like Nolan's series and I think it's a good closer to the series.
I also saw "Lawless". I am not a Shia Labeouf fan, but Tom Hardy was good. I was expecting a bit more violence, a bigger revenge spree and more from Gary Oldman's character based on the trailer. More like the Untouchables or something, but that's not really what it is.
I still enjoyed it, but had I not gone into it having high expectations and thinking it was going to be something else, I probably would have liked it even more.

Going to watch it again tonight. Maybe I was tired or expected too much. I want to be sure before I review.

Left For Dead/I Miss You Hugs and Kisses-I only watched this because it was one of the video nasties I hadn't seen. It took me 4!!!!attempts to get through it all and I only did so out of obligation. Woeful to the extreme one that deserves a round of applause out of relief that the bloody diabolical thing was over. Basically it's a soap opera disguised as a video nasty and a terribly achingly dull soap opera at that. A film that literally sucks the life and joy out of the viewer. The reason this film made the list was because of two controversial scenes. These scenes come out of nowhere and have absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the film (one is inside an actual abbatoir). I can't work out whether they were added for the director's amusement or whether it was to give this film attention it truly does not deserve. It's painfully sad that this film will be seen by many people like me who want to see all the video nasties (in my case it's all except the cannibal films that I'm prepared to watch and this would have been with them had I known about the abbatoir scene beforehand). This is definitely the worst (most unwatchable) of the video nasties I've seen (given the list includes Frozen Scream that's saying a lot). Completely unlike the other films as most are at least horror films but even taken as a soap opera on it's own merits this is despairingly dull). There is some violence at the end but that's no reward for the torment of sitting through this garbage. A painfully arduous viewing experience.

"Silent Hill: Revelation" 7-8/10
The story was quite confusing and some parts felt rushed and a bit clumsy. Also the dialogue wasn't very good and most of the acting was VERY theatrical. I also found it odd to see so many famous faces in such tiny roles with such bad lines. Actually most of the characters in this sequal was crap. Especially the annoying class mate who must have been a Twillight reject. Yuck!
But what i really like was how much it stayed true to the third game in the franchice as well as the first movie. The mall, the creepy amusement park with the scary "cute" rabbits and especially the looks of the heroine was spot on. And i really loved the nod to the newest game Downpour at the very end. That was so cool. Easy to tell the director is true Silent Hill nerd.

Finish watching The Shrine...Ehhh ending was better and made it all make sense. Cool little twist at the end but reminded me way too much of the exorcist.
2 1/2 out of 5
Beneath the Dark - Really confusing movie but the end ties everything together. Ending was pretty good and worth the watch. At first you think it's just another stupid flix but the twist and story line really makes it all work together.

"Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" 7-8/10
The first half was definitely the best. When the Civil War began the movie started to drag and got i little boring at times. But unlike other movies with a big budget, such as the first Silent Hill, you could actually see every penny in this production. Beautiful cinematography and especially the stampede fight was quite unique and amazing.
"End of watch" 7-8/10
Even tho it sure took its time building up to something that actually reminded of a story i really liked this one. I appreciated the time the movie took to let its viewers get under the skin of the two cops, excellently played by Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena.
As mentioned several times on the IMDB board the ending could and should've been more powerful. Also the use of so many types of cameras seemed a little weird to me and also seemed to confuse the actors at times. Handheld (gyllenhaal), chestheld (both cops), shaky and normal cameras. Even the bad guys ran around with a handheld camera for some reason. I never understood why any of the hand/chest held cameras was used in this movie? Didn't seem to be an important factor at all in the end anyways??
Still recommended to fans of Colors and Training Day. :)
"The Awakening" 8-9/10
Except for the the rather anticlimatic ending this ol' school ghost flick was right up my alley. Great ghost story, beautifully shot and with a perfect cast. Reminded in many ways of "The Others" without having the same story.
If only i'd seen more to the creepy child and less to the cute one i'd been a very happy camper.

"House Of Dark Shadows" (1971)
-Jonathan Frid
Plot :IMDB
Recently unleashed from his coffin by local drunk, Willie Loomis, the vampire Barnabas Collins goes on a killing spree, while at the same time charming his present day family members. In the process he meets local girl Maggie Evans and notices that she looks exactly like his deceased fiance Josette. Barnabas assumes that she is the reincarnation of Josette, and plans to make him his unholy bride for eternity.
Phantom's Review: One of my favorite vampire films. Good story (adapted from the soap opera) plenty of Hammer film style gore and atmosphere. And some fine acting from the stars. Highly entertaining.

I also quite liked DARKLANDS
I was at a loss televisual viewing wise, so resorted to watching Ghosts Of Mars (again)..It didnt get any better with age but did remind me of the town I live near since that new tattooist set up shop...Loads of ugly mutant people with facial tattoos and piercings..(myself included!)

I didn't like this as much as the original but it's still very entertaining. They change a lot which is good because if you don't then what's the point of a remake but they were all changes that worked.

Liked most of it. The director knew his scares. Would have appreciated a longer climatic ending, but other than that detail i thought it was a good story that only dragged a little in the middle.

Anatomy - Euro movie which I thought was pretty good. Has a hidden group going on and has some of the body works exhibit in it. Maybe I'm being bias cause I went to the exhibit but I overall thought it was a good movie. Girl goes to study anatomy at foreign college and finds out people are missing and tries to figure out why.

I just watched a cool flick on netflix called ATM about these two guys and girl who are terrorized by a psycho trying to break in to kill them when they are at a walk in atm. It was a cool little flick. Had some great suspense, and some memorable gore scenes. I love when a film takes a simple idea or situation and can pull it into a good story. I'd recommend anyone to check this out. It's on netflix streaming.

Same.
Less than impressed, though I thought it was a decent watch, but not as good as many such films of recent times. But maybe I have become jaded to such films after watching so many similar-premised ones. Some of the characters' behaviour was atrocious, and many a time I found the acting to be below par as well. And yes, the ending was terrible, as if the makers ran out of ideas on how to give a fitting finale to the proceedings. I read about the alternate ending (offered in the Blu-ray) and it sounded much better than this one.
Overall, if you have nothing better to watch...

Skyfall
I really liked it but I started falling asleep about 30 minutes or maybe 45 in... and then it picked up again. I'm more of a classic Bond guy myself (silly gadgets and one liners do it for me... sorry) but this was still a worthwhile watch. A little long, but fun, and Bardem was impeccable. It's funny because as you look at action films a lot of them borrowed from the Bond franchise and now it seems like these flicks are borrowing from those movies.
