As far from a horror movie as it gets, but me and hubby watched Dr Strange last night. It is a cartoon. I include it here because it do have monsters, and some of them rather gruesome, and for a cartoon it was rather dark. Anyway I will take monsters and magick no matter if it was intended to scare me or not. It was a good movie.

"Sucker Punch" 6/10
Visually a 10. But the story as well as direction left much to be desired.
Most of the story was actually in the intro. The rest of the movie was just repetitive to the point where it became dull. I even managed to fall asleep during one of the many shooting scenes.

Battle Royale: Special Edition: I finally got around to watching this. Honestly I'm not quite sure why this movie is rated so highly. It's good, but way, way, way too fricking long. About half way through I started looking at my clock. It's an interesting enough story and the acting is fine, but it just drags way too much for my liking. Plus there's just so many kids involved that I really didn't care for the majority of them, making their deaths pretty pointless and time consuming.

Tony:London Serial Killer (2009) At first I thought what is the point of this film but then I saw a documentary about it which explained things for me. It is very gritty and shows the grimness of life without meaning or purpose but I don't know if I would recommend it or not an odd film nonetheless.

The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005). The opening credits/scene pretty much guarantee that this is going to be a great movie, which is lucky because things get confusing rather quickly. This film feels real because its characters are so perfectly imperfect. It also makes a strong statement about humanity without ever feeling preachy. It instead lets the audience come to its own conclusion.
The story is complex without being unrealistic. Though it does become ostensibly discombobulated, patience will serve its audience well and all questions and confusions are answered with aplomb. This is a story about the boredom that is bred in a boring town and the complexities that develop by its bored citizens. Of course it is one of these bored characters that instigates the drama to follow, but all of our various players contribute in their own unique and problematic ways. This is definitely a character driven drama, but these characters, whether vain shallow or complex, are all developed with their depth of character in mind whilst amazingly coming off as being as real as can be. We deplore their shenanigans but concurrently understand their plight. It is also a story whose denouement seems easily guessed but becomes perfectly bent just when we think we've got it all figured out. And lastly, as the story unfolds, we are privy to the personal revelations that our characters must undertake, but how these revelations play out is subtle, and therefore marvelous, in application.
The acting was incredible. With multiple characters with their own demons to convey, they all accomplish their roles with aplomb. Tommy Lee Jones was absolutely amazing in his role of a man on the edge of insanity, and we can almost feel his arms swinging wildly as he tries to keep from falling off. Barry Pepper is just as solid in a role that brings unimaginable depth to what seems a shallow man. Dwight Yoakam is delightful as the cop we want to hate but whose comedic shortcomings only serve to draw us in.
With Tommy Lee also behind the camera in his cinematic debut, and with such a complex story, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada seems an overambitious project that will prove rife with problems. But Tommy rises to the challenge and has created a movie worthy of the term movie magic. The photography wisely took full advantage of its environs in such a way that these people's stupid mistakes seem all the more believable in such a barren land. The score was just right, always there in full support of the scene. The editing was complex but ultimately sublime.
At this wonderful modern western's conclusion, even when are fully satisfied with our 121 minute investment, that last bit of dialog fully revels in the moment of personal revelation that this character has undertaken.

Scream 2 - Probably my personal favourite of the series, I like how every one of these is a piss-take on one type of film - it's like scary movie needn't have really existed in this form, they did it already.
Decent "true sequel", yet still enough tension-comedy ratio.
Scream 3 - In all honesty I never liked this one, from the overall "too much comedy" vibe, to the characters personalities in numerous cases completely changing, to the annoying Gale Weathers clone...to the quite ludicrous motivation for the killer.
Watching it again trying not to judge was difficult.
It was ok I suppose. Bought a few interesting things to the table like the mother apparitions, the killer posing as others etc.
So off to see Scream 4 today.
Hoping, it's maybe a little better than the 3rd.
...I doubt the whole "new trilogy" theory, but we'll see.
Also going to watch the Burn Notice prequel movie "The fall of Sam Axe" later on today.

Loooved the dream/nightmare with the mother in the window. That was actually creepy as hell.
Would like to see much more of that in the future Screams. But what are the odds..

Troll Hunter - Visually it was really cool, and I was entertained the whole time. The story didn't really make much sense (why did the government guy not just take their camera when it's supposedly a giant government cover-up) but it was fun.
Hanna - Super disappointing, it was a bad action movie disguised as an art film. Which basically just made it a slow and boring action movie with a weak story. Cate Blanchett's accent was all over the place.

I liked it better than Scream 3, so that's my expectations met and exceeded.

Andrei Rublev (1966). Just popping this 205 minute Russian classic that half-centers around a Russian icon painter is in itself a life changing moment. But the next one you will experience are when the credits roll. No doubt about it, this movie is slow, complex, confusing, and definitely cruel. It takes place at the speed of life, and it doesn't follow the normal cinematic guidelines so lauded by lazy moviegoers. And animal lovers beware! You will be offended. But all of this comes not at the expense of the viewer, but instead to his greatest benefit. This is a movie about an artist that is itself a fantastic expression of art. Its beauty is in the complexity of intertwined ideas and metaphors and how they are twisted up with humanity's greatest of traits, good and especially bad, to create a tapestry of human existence defined, an existence with man's inherent contradictions as his most ostensible characteristics.
This is really a series of stories told in succession, with three of them miniature works of brilliance in and of themselves. But together they blend into a whole that is truly difficult to put into words. It must simply be seen and felt.
The acting was fine for what it was, but this is not an actor's movie, no matter the talent at hand.
Andrey Tarkovskiy has created what can be rightfully be called one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces to date. This movie explores the nature of man and men, the paradox of religion, and of the unanswerable philosophy of life that has all but been abandoned by men today. It answers nothing, but surprisingly seems to point us in the right direction, if only to begin again asking questions that will have no answers. This movie simply challenges man into a serious campaign of introspection, knowing that it will cause pain at the expense of pleasure, but with the solid foundation that the world is again ready to foment such an endeavor. In accomplishing all this, the movie's artistry is never sacrificed but enhanced.
The camera work is far from simple brilliance. Shot complexity and composition are impeccably woven together to create unfolding events of unparallelled majesty. From shots of princes squished into the corner of the screen to high above shots comically alluding to man the god, every shot is created with vicious ingenuity. It is almost too much to bear, but to turn away is to generate feeling of impotence that men are also unable to bear. But in watching this to impress our own egos is almost a tactic to get us to laugh at those same egos, intangible components of the human being that have forever led man to commit atrocities all for a simple stroke of something that Freud only guessed at.
The movie's abrupt transition towards its end gives the audience a much needed respite from the heaviness just taken in, and by the last scene, one of magical proportions revealing something greater than man that was not even conjured up by us, we become privy to the ruminations that are to follow such a wonderful movie experience. Until, of course, we ready ourselves to watch it again, all at the expense of the ubiquitous conceit that mars and connotes the human condition.

Hobo With A Shotgun: Much like House of 1000 Corpses this movie starts off quite strong. Some pretty good character development that got me interested in what happens to these people. Both the good guys and the bad. Then about 3/4 of the way through it turns to utter shit. Sure, both movies are meant to be campy and over the top, but seriously? Why go completely stupid and add in characters like The Plague (or Dr. Wolfenstein and the ridiculous, huge mutant)? Both movies had such promise, but then threw it all away by letting a 9 year-old kid write the last act. I was completely disappointed with Hobo which is too bad because it was pretty damn awesome until The Plague showed up. I would probably have a hard time recommending this one to most anyone unfortunately.
Delicatessen: More than made up for the shitshow that was Hobo. Amazing movie all around.

With quick & stylish editing & direction it all started like a slow burn, bit of a bleak drama that for the first two-third of the film focuses the interwoven events of the three characters…Erica, a young girl who is trying to fill the void of her existence by working at odd jobs & having sex with almost any guy she meets; Franki, a guitarist in a garage band, with dreams of making it big, all the while caring for his cancer stricken mother and Nate, an Iraq war veteran, kinda edgy & disturbed ( Noah Taylor did a great job portraying the role).
But in the third act it was like all hell broke loose…slowly the end comes with a pretty brutal and uncompromising revenge scenario where director Simon Rumley though left most of it off screen but skillfully that works for the audience enough to make you shiver or think about even after the credit rolls. It was gruesome…it was fun to watch!
Overall, an exceptionally interesting indie effort that every genre fans should check out.

Just watched 'Kill the Irishman' - I was looking forward to seeing this since i first heard about it - I must say I really enjoyed though it did have the potential to be an epic film it did fall a bit short. It was also a pity Christopher Walken hadn't abit more to do in it.
Ray Stevenson was great in the lead and I think it prolly features every one who ever played a wiseguy on film or TV. And LOL@Vinnie Jones pretty much playing the same pikey boxer from Strength and Honour.
The film didn't touch on Greene being a FBI informant and painted him in a pretty romantic light. The soundtrack also needed more House of Pain.
I'd like to see a film about The Westies (though State of Grace was great) or Whitey Bulger.

Stalker (1979). The title of this immense Russian film is misleading to the minds of the West as this is about as far removed from a psycho-thriller as can be imagined. Stalker might best be described as a philosophic journey whose story is a true blend of sci-fi and fantasy and whose ultimate goal is to elicit some contemplation of the inner humanity of individual humans. Without really answering anything, it takes many of the most profound clichés that intellects cling onto with dear life and then person takes personal pains to expose them as intelligence obtunding tools that has allowed true thought, as well as mankind, to stagnate beyond repair.
This is a demanding and slow story, where things tend to linger, lulling the viewer into a mental state such the the subtle purpose of this flick can penetrate the walls of dogma. In one sense, this is a sort of thriller as the journey seems to get more and more foreboding, but the source of terror is only alluded to in such a confusing fashion that it never quite manifests into true terror whilst always threatening to do so. This movie is difficult to characterize. Not quite avant garde in structure, it is more like a masterpiece of moving visual art whose message is heard but is too abstruse for the conscious mind to make any sense of.
The acting was strong, with much time spent allowing the actors to express feelings with their expressions and movements instead of just their mouths. Their transformation throughout, from cocky and self-reliant, reserved, and finally to the unwanted discovery of an inner reality they have been sequestering for their entire lives is quite an achievement. In another sense, though, they are secondary to the movie's visuals.
Andrey Tarkovskiy is not so much a director as he is a visual poet. The camera is used not just used to tell a story but to open the mind up to things that cannot be understood, allowing it to again fathom the mysteries of life with an almost a childlike innocence deviously coupled with a sense of dread that only maturity can generate. The metallic sepia tones used in the beginning creates a dream-like presence that concurrently divulges the ugliness of human existence. Alcohol and drugs would almost be an excusable escape from such a dreary place. Camera movement and composition are exquisite. Long shots are championed, almost as if editing was an unheard of phenomena. The visuals of nature and man and the decomposition of civilization are all juxtaposed as if no other combination could be possible but with such a cruel reality that the mind will do anything to relieve itself from such honesty. The score sneaks in, sometimes hitchhiking along with the industry of society, only to disappear like a thief in the night whose booty is yet to be noted as missing.
As this film comes to its close, in a fashion that almost dares Hollywood to breathe the life force of originality in place of its empty tinsel, the thinking brain is left convoluted, hinting of implosion, afraid and unprepared to seek a properly sanctioned thought that has been pre-approved by society with the empty promise of happiness at the expense of contentedness.

Satan's School For Girls (I don't know what year it came out but it stars Shannon Doherty but isn't on IMDB or Amazon weirdly so maybe it hasn't been released on dvd yet)anyway it was a PG so very little violence and no gore. But it was actually pretty good it had inventive occult undercurrents and avoided the standard slasher fare its title hints at. I surprisingly enjoyed it though it was hardly original.

Produced by Guillermo del Toro, this is a very tightly packed Spanish suspense-thriller. From the very beginning to end you won't find any single dull moment or a minute to relax in its almost 2 hour long running time. The cast, camera works & the overall production values are pretty good also. The plot looks interesting at first but in the midway it becomes bit predictable. As a whole it was fairly enjoyable.

Sebastian (1976)-If you like watching Roman Soldiers fighting and fucking out of sheer boredom then this is the controversial derek jarman film for you! However it would be unfair to dismiss this as simply moderate gay porn-there is an impressive amount of paganism to delight occultists plus there's an opening scene of festivities involving slaves dancing with giant phalluses that just has to be seen to be believed. There is also a reasonable amount of violence and though the martyrdom of sebastian does become tiresome at times, the end image will linger long in the mind.

Fast Five
I wasn't expecting to, but I actually found this to be the best out of all the sequels. I liked that it
*spoiler* picked up and continues directly from where the 4th one left off *end spoiler*.
Considering I actually thought the fourth was among the weakest of the series it was nice to have something with a much better plot this time around, it seems a lot more work was put into the writing.
Overall less racing oriented, more focussed on heist stuff, and dipping further into "action" territory - though the vehicle scenes don't disappoint and there's some great fight and chase scenes throughout.
Not the stuff of genius but solidly entertaining, big recovery from this series.
!For those going to see it, there is a scene at the end of the credits!

Went to see Disney's African Cats this afternoon...not really my kind of thing, didn't think I'd like it at all - but wow.
The narration is pretty silly at times (despite Samuel L. Jackson) and the "story" that they try to piece together seems a bit forced here and there...but man, just watching these animals move is breathtaking, really beautifully shot. It's definitely censored for young audiences - the kills all cut away or are conveniently shot behind scenery - but still, these creatures are incredible to watch. They are the very definition of grace and sheer power...my jaw was hanging open the whole time.

Satanic-this really was an awful movie in the sense that it had some great ideas in it but they got lost in its poor execution. The fight scene at the end is one of the most woeful I have ever seen. In fact I'm only mentioning this film for its totally surprising reference to Ilsa:She Wolf Of The SS but that was only one scene and I doubt it was worth sitting through all of this. I only stuck it on originally to see Jeffrey Combs who was mentioned top billing in the cast list. Sadly he was only in it for 5minutes as a detective. I hope he was well paid for being associated with this piece of crap-he probably thought it would turn out to be a great film based on its script. Sadly it turned out to be very poor.

Luckily this film was tons better than Satanic but you are only watching it for Udo Kier who has the best character, lines and presence in it. It's quite clever in the way they trick fans like this.

The CGI is absolutely brilliant.
I thought the film tried a wee bit to take itself too seriously in the beginning, and it was a slow buildup for the first 25-30 minutes. The length of the film could have easily lost at least 10-15 minutes and that would have made it a really fantastic ride. Otherwise, the characterisation is just about spot-on and Hemsworth looks every bit as the Norse God we all love, the pacing after the first half hour is perfect, and the action sequences are downright delicious.
As it stands, it's good. Really good. Just like how a Thor film should be. Don't forget to check out the surprise cameo - it is indeed a real surprise!;)

Kill The Irishman - 5/10
Light on narrative and heavy on cameos. Basically, it's a reasonably dull, factual gangster flick played by a seemingly endless procession of familiar faces from any gangster movie of note.
Just a small point, the 'Irishman' definitely had an American accent :). I wonder if that'll show up in a movie bloopers show.
Inception - 7/10
I was pretty tired last night when I put this on, so I may be being hard on it but, I thought it dragged a bit. The balance of effects with plot with acting performance was really balanced. There is real substance here, as you would expect from a Di Caprio movie. It was about 20 mins too long but still good.

Agree with Chrono, the last third turned out kinda lame in compare to a decent build up at the beginning & through the midway of the film, specially just when the father begins his trip to "The Further" it’s started to become a mediocre scary episode from a Horror TV show. I think it'd be better if they could leave the demon as a dark figure (instead of giving it a kinda funny look & avoid those activity in its chamber) like in that particular dream of the grandma. Liked the little (very predictable) twist at the end but I think Mr. Wan could show it in a more frightening way.

No please studios DO NOT REMAKE dead and buried please it is an amazing film and there is no way it can be topped!
Dark Corners (2006) I thoroughly enjoyed this. Kudos to them for making a film that is different and stands out from the crowd. Sadly such a complex and non linear film will not appeal to everyone as you have to fit in the pieces for yourself (clue think why it is called Dark Corners). This is one to think about and enjoy understanding all its multi layeredness.
Bad Biology (2008)This is made by the same director who made Basket Case and Brain Damage. So if you loved those films you will love this. Be aware though that this is fully in the realm of fantasy and comedy so you don't take it too seriously. It is silly even ridiculous at times but nevertheless I was glued to my seat. Not for everyone but if you're a fan of the aforementioned films you will love it.

Where do I start? Mmmm....let's begin with the idea/plot behind Darren Lynn Bousman's 2010 film Mother's Day...which is first of all, not a straight remake of Charles Kaufman's 1980 cult favorite Mother's Day. Bousman & his Co. what did here is sometimes what we can regard as "re-imagining" an idea or plot. The premise and even the characters are almost significantly different here as the redneck family in the woods replaced by an extended family of criminals under the influence of a psycho-Mom and instead of having just 2 boys, this time mommy dearest got three sons and a daughter!
So it all started when after a bank robbery gone wrong, three brothers on the run from the law head for home, not knowing that their mother has already been evicted from the house. The new owners and their guests, gathered for an ill-timed birthday party, become the brothers' accidental hostages. As one of the brothers is already wounded; one of the hostages, a doctor, he is forced to treat him. And later the brothers' mother, the cold blooded gang leader, and their sister arrive.
The way Bousman's version quickly set off to unfold the whole scenario I really started to appreciate & like the film as it progress with good pace & violence. But then, probably after the first-third or half, to make more than an 1 & half hour long film out of a hardly 60 minute story line, it really becomes an excuse to pit the hostages against one another. Forcing them to fight amongst themselves under imposed scenarios along the lines like "we will kill you both unless one of you kills the other first" not only grows tedious within the confines of the film, but it reminds that even when Mr. Bousman already left the SAW franchise, the tired Jigsaw twisty-tricks are still, intentionally or not, pretty much alive on his mind with the same old question..."what would you do or how far you would go to survive?"
Thus, although having a fine premise & cast, it becomes bit annoying in few funny & stupid moments. And last but not the least, the ending! And that was the major disappointment.
The interesting thing I noticed from a poster (http://www.moviepostershop.com/large.asp?title=Mother%27s+Day&size=11+x+17+Movie+Poster+-+Style+B&pid=62607&sku=CB57583) of this film is that how much exaggeratedly different popular horror movie sites is trying to help in its promotional campaign.
Overall, only considering the gore, violence & the pace of the film it was fairly entertaining. Worth a watch.

La Casa Muda aka The Silent House (2010)
http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g348/sanjidhdc/SilentHouse.jpg
I have no idea about how much Uruguay has been involved in the genre film making but as my first horror film from Uruguay I'm here pretty impressed. The Silent House comes with a spooky-haunted house cum psychological horror story that (as we all already know) it was shot in one single continuous take without cuts like the Colombian drama-thriller PVC-1 (2007). Though it takes its time to build up the tension & help to understand its viewers what's actually going on but in the midway of the film you'll find some decent sudden creepy encounters. I'm not actually sure about the others who may not find it that much interesting but overall I think it's a pretty good effort from Uruguay.

Fairly surprised by this one. Felt like the same old run of the mill slasher but had a pretty good twist mid way through and kept a descent amount of tension and terror from that point on. Suggest viewing it without any previous reviews or extensive knowledge of the plot. The surprise is what makes this one unique.

We Are What We Are [Somos Lo Que Hay] (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1620604/) (2010)
http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g348/sanjidhdc/werwhatwer2010.jpg
This is a beautifully shot and constructed, a family drama and teen coming of age story built on a horror premise...the controversial & hard to digest sub-genre of Cannibalism! But if the gorehound fans are looking for gore & gruesomeness all over, they need to be patient. This character piece with art house attributes delivered much more than a full blooded horror; though the cannibal sequences are deliciously graphic when they arrive at close to the end, the director takes his time to getting there. The story is about a family with an awful secret binding them together as well as tearing them slowly apart, it’s a dark exploration of family bonds & blood rituals where the family that eats together stays together! This is a shocking satire not only on family dysfunction but also on poverty, society and the law. Even the director himself described the film’s themes as "family disintegration, urban violence, and social deprivation, the fight among minorities to survive and be noticed."
A little more depth to the characters and some more understanding of the motivations may be needed but it would have taken away the brutal feeling of the film. But Somos Lo Que Hay aka We are what we are is still a very promising debut from a talented young director (Jorge Michel Grau) of Mexico.
Overall, one of the finest entry in the genre so far this year, IMO.

There is a line in the movie from the leader of 13 Assassins, when he just got & accepts the assignment to kill an evil-sadistic lord..."I shall accomplish your task...with magnificence."
And like all those assassins Takashi Mike also did it with magnificence! There are many moments in this latest Mike Masterpiece that would make Sir Akira Kurosawa proud. It was that kind of old school fun, exciting and beautiful samurai Jidaigeki flick that rarely happened in these days. It’s a movie that you’d like to watch with all of your great friends who appreciate brilliant film making and love this sort of story. And I wish I could see it with you all.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil: Holy crap is this movie fun! Yes, some of the acting is pretty bad. A few of the kids really deserve to die for that alone. The movie went in a direction that I really wasn't expecting at all. Honestly I wish it hadn't. what I had in mind would have been far better, but oh well. 2)"The Gunslingers" (2009)
Plot: Netflix (http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/The_Gunslingers/70150468?trkid=2361637#height1316)
While roaming the wild plains on a quest to find a cache of hidden riches, sharp-shooting bounty hunter Butch (John Elliott) and his outlaw companions come across a deadly gang with supernatural powers in this stylized Western. As the hunt for the gold treasure becomes competitive -- and violent -- Butch, morally questionable Rattler Fenton (Brad Allen) and vengeful Akemi (Narisa Suzuki) must confront the evil and powerful Mondego (Ben Hall).
Phantom's Review: Dear God, this movie is a turd! Terrible acting, horrible dialog, bad special FX, the only good thing about this film is 1) the music and 2) the scenery, outside of that , this film should be avoided at ALL costs.

First 45 minutes were spent looking for the scares, and the next 45 minutes delivered things in a whoosh. Plot gaps and glaring errors aside, they tried their best to emulate the original as much as they can. But sadly, the original had something really big in it's favor - it's THE original!
(***SPOILERS FOLLOW***)
btw, how did they think they could explain the baby's growth to a walking toddler within a day?
And moreover, when such happenings are going on in the house, the father and daughter decide to stay all night at the vet's to stay with the dog and leave the mother and baby son unguarded?
Hmm...this doesn't digest well, Paramount and Tod Williams.
(***SPOILERS END***)
The original was creepy. Scary enough to keep me and the wife awake long after it was over. This one, well, we went to bed almost immediately after it was over, and sleep came within 10 minutes. Explains much?
There are a couple of scenes with really jumpy scares, but you have to wait 50-odd minutes to catch them. Other than those, it's a pretty much forgettable experience. I don't even remember most of it right now as I type this.
My Score - 45/100

Really, really liked this one.
Loved the idea behind the story and the skillful way the director constantly toyed with it as well as the audience. Lots of cool diverse scenes, such as the cafe pick-up scene that brought back delightful memories of "Groundhog day". Also thought the dialogue was strong throughout, the pacing was perfect, and both Cage & Biels characters were downright adorable.
Must be my favorite Nicholas Cage flick to date.
The only issues I had with it was:
1. The ending was disappointing. I wanted more when the credits started to roll.
2. No sequals. :( :( :(

I should have known it wasn't gonna happen.
They turned an original effort into a cash-cow and god knows what ridiculous things we are gonna see in PA 3 which is scheduled for Halloween this year.
And how long will they stretch this one? 7-8 like the Saw series?

I thought the setting was great and they had some great characters, plus the addition of the dog was a big plus which could have added some real spookiness into the atmosphere with it's instinctive behavior. I don't know...they could have done without the first 30-odd minutes and added some more suspense into the whole thing. Like you said, it felt rushed and as if no afterthought was given to the whole product on the editing table or the first screenings.
I wait to be proved wrong with PA3, although I severely doubt it.

Perhaps I wasn't in right mood or I missed something there or whatever the reason but I saw the original PA only once & it left nothing much of an impression after I watched it then. Though I obviously found it interesting & a decent flick overall but at the end it was just another POV feature that they done pretty cleverly within their limitations. But yeah...the PA2 looked quite promising in the trailers and agree with V that it had a nice premise & characters that they could utilize with more added drama, tension or precisely more spookiness.
And who knows...may be we get to see the demon next time like the funny kind of way Wan showed in the INSIDIOUS. :D

Interesting movie. I like serial killer movies with the police hunting them down. The Phantom was interesting enough and the way he breathed and would stalk people made for some creepy parts but the whole movie was too light and had some misplaced comedic elements that killed the suspense. Mum & Dad was the last seen movie. Good movie which was part funded by the, now defunct, UK Film Council and there seemed to be an awful lot of close ups for some reason.
Try it.

I just saw Philosophy of a Knife. It's nothing that I like too much but still, it's a well made movie that's.. Pretty good. But as I said, it's nothing enjoyable for me. I just thought that I watched some real videoclips that never ended so I almost fell asleep. Haha, I'm going to check out Jeepers Creepers before I go to bed. Oh jeez, she's 23:47 here in Sweden :D

Excellent! Easily the best film in the franchise since the original. Great FX, good story and terrific acting from the whole cast. I loved it. Can't wait for part 5.

I just saw that on Monday. I really liked it but I wouldnt say it was the best in the franchise since the first. I would put it behind the 3rd. It still beats the 2nd though. I hated that one.

Season Of The Witch
Quite hokey in parts (not sure how serious the film makers were trying to be) and I didn't really buy any of the actors being from the time period. But I enjoyed this and thought it was a decent modern sword and sorcery flick. Very entertaining anyway. Not for those expecting something historically accurate :D

I actually liked that movie but a lot of people i talked to didnt. I think people take movies too seriously nowadays. I bet if it had been straight to dvd or something like that people would have expected less of it and just had been able to enjoy it. But then again if that was the case, probably not as many people would have seen it.

We Are What We Are - 7.5/10
A well shot, intense, intriguing horror or serial killer movie with a nice thread of originality running through it. The Mexican Tourist Board won't be endorsing it anytime soon.
This may sound weird but, I thought it had a similar vibe to Let The Right One In. Realistic and grim with a real 'matter of fact' parading of it's subject matter. You know, sucked any romance out that could've been included and just dealt with the bare bones.

I liked that movie but the ending bothered me.
SPOILERS
Why did she need to escape from the helicopter in the end? Surely once the president recovered, he could tell them that Liev Schriber's (I know i butchered the spelling) character was really a terrorist or whatever. It just seemed pointless to me. Anyway i do hope that there is a sequel.

You should also take into account that originally the role was for Tom Cruise and then he backed out and they rewrote it to feature a woman instead. So imagine how it could've been.

My first 3 BluRays
*Kick-Ass
*Earth
*Dawn of the Dead ('78)
...Really impressed by how we Dawn was taken over to the format. Beautiful...
Earth was pretty cool, I'd like to get more wildlife/nature doco stuff on BluRay, it's just like you're there...especially looking forward to getting "Microcosmos" on that. Stunning stuff.
Kick-Ass = reviewed before. Good film. Nice adaptation of the comic that didn't butcher things *all that* much. (Though I preferred the origin of Big Daddy in the comics...) Friend liked it. Overall fun film that I think a lot of comic enthusiasts should have in their collection. I'd love to see more Millar stuff make it to film.

I really enjoyed it and it looks amazing but don't be fooled into thinking it's artistic or well crafted. It is what it is, a big budget, swords and sandals romp. The action is awesome and it's supremely entertaining. Perfect accompaniment to your Sunday night hangover.

Make-Out with Violence (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1284485/) (2008)
http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g348/sanjidhdc/Make-OutwithViolence.jpg http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g348/sanjidhdc/Makeout_with_Violence_4.jpg
Narrated by their younger brother Beetle, the story centers on twin brother Patrick & Carol; and the neighborhood girls they silently adore. But when Patrick’s love interest Wendy Heart mysteriously disappears & at one point everybody eventually given up for dead, the lives of the brothers take a dark turn as one sad summer say Wendy return as a barely reanimated corpse! Mystified by her condition, Patrick, takes the lead and nurtures her over the summer when a rotting girlfriend is better than no girlfriend at all.
Though it kinda sounds like Deadgirl (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0896534/) but this is more of a coming-of-age teen drama than a zombie horror flick. As an indie film it was pretty well made with a fresh cast & good performance but not for everyone.

The Rain aka Dark Fields (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1212023/usercomments) (2009)
http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g348/sanjidhdc/DarkFields.jpg http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/g348/sanjidhdc/RainV2.jpg
The residents of Perseverance are oppressed with a curse after digging out a 'hat' of Indian Shaman. Each year they suffer an affliction to their bodies and a drought to their land. Desperate to save their families, the people of Perseverance make a pact with that evil-supernatural shaman who promises to bring rain to their town in exchange for the sacrifice of three of their children.
Though the plot sounds kinda cliched and the film is bit too long in length with some dull moments but it wasn't a bad movie at all. I kinda liked it. The tale of that cursed town told over in 3 generations in 3 parallel stories and they weave together nicely. The story is at times a bit on the cheesy side but a few other moments are more tense. The director did a good job at transitioning among the storylines by keeping the continuity intact. The cast includes David Carradine, Dee Wallace, Richard Lynch and Evil Dead’s Ellen Sandweiss.

Mediocre haunted house movie using the cheapest trick in the book to scare its audience. Sudden loud music. Bravo.
"The Ward" 7/10
Piss poor story, but with a nice twist at the end.
Not exactly a great watch but at least it was entertaining.
"The Shrine" 7/10
This one HAD and interesting story, but just like "Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer" director Knautz could have pulled it off much better. Also, I would have liked to see Trevor Matthews in the lead role, coz i thought he did a really good job in Jack Brooks. But he was good as well as a Polish sect member.
