Candyman (1992): I wanted to return to this one in order to be ready for the sequel. An indirect effect that Jordan Peele has on you.
If anything the film has grown over the years. Storytellingwise, that is, because little things like the cameras and the idea that (nearly) everybody smokes make this film look dated.
Throughout the story, the film is also not afraid to inject social commentary. From Anne-Marie's line about "white folks only bringing trouble" (quite the bit of foreshadowing there) to the police response to Helen being beat up.
It was good seeing Xander Berkeley again, but I was a bit ashamed for not recognizing Vanessa Williams. That feeling where you think "this face looks a bit familiar, but you're not quite sure why". The good thing is that she made you focus on her character rather than her. This contrary to a time where they cast people, because famous.
And then of course, there is Tony Todd. It takes him a while to show up, but then he dominates the screen with his presence and his voice. Much more than with William Bludworth, it really gives you the chills. On par with James Earl Jones' performance as Darth Vader, it instills just as much fear.
If anything, it makes me more curious how the story will be set forward in the sequel. Different accents , people coming back (or not),...

Funny how most people knew smoking was bad way before 1992. I always thought cigarettes were adult candy in the old movie days. But it would still be years before that and that inside movie about cigarette companies before laws against smoking would start. Also preventing ads towards children.
Anyways, I'm going to watch the original before the new one as well.

THE INVITATION (2015). This tale of a Dinner invitation/Reunion starts out pretty well; nothing really happens, but suspense begins to build. Sadly, towards the end, it's almost an Homage to BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS when things begin to get nasty. Add up to what I thought was a ridiculous ending, although my Wife figured it made sense. **1/2

Grudge 2020 or the original. Got to go with the original first. ::big grin::
I didn't see Grudge 2020 and won't waste my time unless someone I trust recommends it. I watched the trailer and it just looks like a series of "something is behind you" or "something jumps at you" scenes. Some horror is style, but the trailer looked like hack visuals and hack story. I really don't know who bothers to watch this when there are some many better things to do.
I did see Ju-On (2002), and speaking of "It was very worrying and horrifying to notice the emptiness of the movie", I kind of felt that way about Ju-on. It's fairly crafty, but found it hard to relate or care about the characters and was a bit bored and found the story a bit shallow. But a lot of folks here liked Ju-On. That was your better shot at a decent flick.
You gonna try Ju-on?
We live in postmodern times. Going with the original movie first, is not a rule I like to consistently follow. I watched the Evil Dead remake first, and the original later; and this experience worked very well for me.
Anyways, it's interesting to hear your views. Yes, I am curious towards Ju-on!

You know I haven't seen Candyman yet either. It's on my list. I'll have to watch it sooner than later. It's pretty unique.
Funny about smoking...
When I was in grammar school we were taught about oral cancer and lung cancer with all the disgusting pictures. That had an impact on me not to smoke.
But probably bigger impact was my folks didn't smoke. My grandpa pretty much chained smoked. That ashtray odor didn't smell good, but the house also always smelled like sautéed onions.
Also, as a young adult on, I bummed cigarettes all the time from my friends who smoked, especially when drinking. They wanted me to smoke with them. I never really got anything out of it besides the physical routine which satisfied my fidgeting habit. I never had the desire to go out and buy a pack. I guess I'm somehow immune to nicotine addiction, or whatever desired effect it's supposed to have. I don't know how rare that is.

Gunpowder Milkshake (2021) (netflix)
6/10
Sorta of a tongue-in-check hitwoman noir comedy action film, where in a bad world of bad people a hitwoman saves a kidnapped girl, with a boorishly ton of uninspiring fighting and gunplay.
I was happy enough with the opening, even though it was very Tarantino' familiar, without the good dialogue. But when the hand combat and gunplay scenes dragged on way too long, and repeated and repeated... I was seriously bored. You've already seen this.

Not to butt in (pun intended) or side track the thread, but I'll chime in that to me it's really a matter of will power and not any harder than deciding to cut out sugar or red meat or whatever out of your diet or cut loose a friend or an ex who isn't good for you to be around. Although, admittedly that is also something difficult for some people as well, but if you really want to quit and are ready to, you will. In the end it's a choice you make and you either choose to stick by it or you don't, kind of like being married and being faithful even though you can choose not to be at anytime.

On smoking, I had many chances to try just about every brand of US cigarette but never did. I was around second hand smoke and it makes me upset. But I was a kid and adults still weren't serious about second hand smoke back then. Also people smoked in clubs and restaurants like it was no big deal back then.
But like alcohol people have different tolerances. I wouldn't bet on trying cigarettes and not being addicted. Companies bet on getting teens to try and keep them as customers for life. So there is something extra that effects kids. Also there is or was the cool factor or opening up a pack and asking for a light. Or having something else in your hand besides a drink at a bar. Who knows why. Here is what wiki says on Nicotine.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicotine#Reinforcement_disorders
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicotine_withdrawal#Signs_and_symptoms
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoking_cessation#Side_effects
I can detect my mood change depending on lack of sleep or healthy food. I would hate dealing with nicotine. But I'm ok with dealing with alcohol and I've met people who can't stop drinking.
Right now is probably a terrible time to smoke with the virus. That's a pre-existing condition right there.

Black Christmas (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454082/)
I gave this one a chance. And you know what? The opening was not half bad. Kind of makes you think that the film would not be bad. Maybe it just got panned because it has such big shoes to fill. Then, it went downhill very fast. A remake with no original ideas. Hot girls, exposition,... Not very original.
That brings me to another thing: If you have no original ideas, you can always save it by at least remembering what made the original stand out. The scary thing about the original was how little we knew about the killer. Bob Clark left it to our imagination. This one went so much on the nose that it became annoying. With a few shots clearly put in there, just to make the jocks and their date to go "Dude! Gross!".
The second star is for the icepick kill/accident and the plastic bag nod to the original. And Mary Elizabeth Winstead deserves better than this.

Pontypool (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1226681/?ref_=rvi_tt) had an interesting concept, to say the least. A local radio station in the middle of what looks to be a zombie outbreak (or something akin to that). And in all fairness, it had some good moments. A good build up during the bit when they realise that there's something serious going and the final scene with Ken Loney is touching.
That said, I could not help but think they did not fully reach the potential this concept has to offer. With a few on location shots (think of reporters like Trevor Hannah in the Dawn of the Dead remake), good voice actors who earned their chops in animation, good use of facial expressions,...
All in all, I liked it (and I respect what the crew did with this budget), but I can also not help but wonder what someone like David Fincher could have done with this.

Hi Sculpt, sorry to take this long getting back-work been hectic, but on Vacation now::smile:: and also have able to read posts from other members about smoking and all well thought out responses.
After that episode with Mom's B&H Menthol, steered well clear of it. Tried a puff here and there, but nothing to stick. Just find it a nasty smelly thing...Mrs FD doesn't like it either. In single days, only dated two girls who indulged; one who did Marlboro 100's, but her kisses were akin to being mugged, so could deal with that::wink:: and last one (shortly before Mrs FD) smoked Clover cigs, which at least didn't stink too much. Besides, I was more intrigued by the pint of Sloe Gin she kept in her big purse, for "Emergencies"::confused::::cool::
As gotten older. still find it a revolting practice, hate second hand smoke and loathe how most smokers think They can just toss the butt wherever. With what We know about it and the effects not to mention the cost, why start?

What was the budget?
I also really liked the concept of the sound causing the zombies (as I recall) -- symbolic, I think, of an idea causing a threat. Liked the setup, but definitely went off the rails for me. Lot's of folks on here liked it, so I didn't pan it as much as I would have liked. It was ok, but leaves you wishing it was done better. I never think of it as a budget issue. It's not a space odyssey film. Thinking of Oliver Stone's Talk Radio was great cause of the writing, acting and direction. It's not primarily a money issue.

Interesting. Talk Radio's budget was only 4 million. And plenty of that went to pay Oliver Stone, Alec Baldwin, John C. McGinley and professional industry workers. I know Talk Radio doesn't have zombie makeup, but that doesn't need be expensive any more than some practical zombie violence/action. There's some inexpensive CG set/background special effects if needed. ::big grin::

When it comes to cinematic quality, there is no reason to remake Black Christmas because the original still holds up.
That said, one of the (unintentional) qualities of the original is that it talked about a then groundbreaking subject, not in the least because it was right after Roe v Wade. So in that light, you can perfectly see where the 2019 remake comes from and, as you said, you can add something.
But the first thing to do is make an entertaining piece of cinema. I remember one review calling it "a script written by Lisa Simpson". Not to diss Lisa, but I can how that does not keep you on the edge of your seat.

I guess it's a case of growing insight and that can take it's time. For the young, it does not grow fast enough and for the old, it grows too fast. I grew up with slogans like "Smoking? As long as it's civil". A generation that grows up with anti smoking adds will look at that differently.
J-PzOFSDWRo
This add is a good example. From my generation, knowing the drugs these two have done, my first thought is: And you're going to tell me not to smoke? Really? Whereas someone from a later generation might be more likely to say; Does not matter, they're right.
And I can only speak for my own experience, but in the meantime, there seemed to be a time (about a decade) where people were somewhere in between. Yeah, we know it's bad, but it's bad in a too much booze is bad kind of way. For a lot of people, it might have still felt more like a vice than as something genuinely dangerous.
Plus from the way I quit, I realise it's easy for me to say, because I was never really addicted or felt that way.

The cast of the remake is really good but the movie not so much. Strangely I thought I reviewed all of them recently over here. I know I did on HorrorDVDs. It was because the third remake came out and got a lot of the MeToo thing going.
I actually watched the original for the first time. I know it was in the last year. Let me search around.

Sorry, it's been a long time since I've seen it. I hadn't heard anything about that. How'd that scenario go?
Yeah, how did that scenario go? If you used a term of endearment to someone they would turn into a zombie?

I really liked Hush! Thought it was Hitchcockian... where pretty much everything shot, everything thing you see in the beginning comes into to play in the film. Good thriller. Well thought out. These are the types of films I'd like to see more of.

That's really weird. I don't remember that from the film, but I don't doubt it, it's been a long time. I wonder the writer is intending to say -- you know as an allegory? Is the writer suggesting affectionate words cause people to be bad some how? Like this causes jealous violence in society? ::confused::

I think it was mostly to just create this plotpoint where one of the characters would get a phonecall from one of her children and she would be all like "hey sweetie", while the other characters give her looks and signs to just, you know, cut it off.

The Collection (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1748227/)
This sequel loses a bt of it's steam, compared to part 1. Because in part 1, the idea was still new. Makes you wonder wether a direct sequel would be better. Picking up immediately afterwards, like Halloween 2 did.
Granted, it has it's moments and some of the traps still are creepy. But the concept of the badasses going in to save the girlfriend/wife/daughter has been overdone. Also, there seemed to be more than a bit of nodding going on. Maybe it's just me, but the opening credits seemed to nod to/pay hommage to the opening credits of Seven. And some bits of the score seriously across as diet Nine Inch Nails.
And, of course, there is a bit of sequel bait. Except, this is more the wuuuh? kind of sequel bait.

Technically, 1917 is fantastic, such amazing camera work and really only one cut that is more like a fade. The story was good, but Schofield should have been seriously hurt when the Trench cave-in occurs. It's quite convenient that after he falls into the water, He floats right where his mission is supposed to be and not even getting nicked when He goes "Over The Top" to deliver the message. Minor quibbles, but the film's power is somewhat diluted. Still very much worth seeing.

Profile (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7826276/) is one of those occasions when the found footage concept mostly seems to be used to keep production cheap rather than anything else.
It may work for films like Unfriended, but I cannot see the added value of the found footage idea here. The report was published and the reporter survives, so why do it this way? Why not make a faux documentary mixed with found footage? This may also just be me, but I was not very invested in the main character and her life. Maybe also because part of me expects these reporters doing such profiles to be more levelheaded and well prepared, rather than seemingly everything last minute or almost/accidentally revealing your true identity, your name, your home,...
The ending seemed a bit underwhelming as well. Sure, the idea of ISIS sending out a wanted poster with your name is quite scary, but for storytelling purposes, it's also worthwile to deliver on the scares in some way, shape or form. An action beat, a haunting tesimony from the main character or one of her friends,... Now none of that.
It was not terrible, but all in all disappointing.

The film looks beautiful, interesting score and the tension slowly builds, although it gets a little too close to WICKER MAN territory. Long -almost 2.5 hours-languid, almost Kubrickian pace does pay off if You can hang in there with quite a few WTF scenes, particularly the scene where the "Chosen One" does his appointed task. ****1/2

Halloween (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1502407/)
This reboot/sequel makes a fine addition to the series, with a good build up and a few good kills to boot. Fitting both the times and the overall canon.
Laurie Strode is written as a badass and Jamie Lee Curtis pulls it off very well. We get a "final confrontation" like in H20, though this one does not leave (obvious) sequel bait. Which is a nice change. In fact, the abrupt-ish ending kind of reminded me of the original Texas Chainsaw.
Good stuff. Looking forward to seeing Halloween Kills.

I agree with you both. The gore in Halloween Kills is pretty fun but aside from that the movie falls flat. Characters make incredibly dumb decisions and Michael at several points in the movie fights crowds of people which seems out of character.

Halloween Kills -
I might post a full review later but this movie was a disappointment. This might be what happens when the previous movie gets way too much hype. I thought that one was ok but no where near the original. And in many ways comparable to H20. I still think H20 is a fun Halloween movie and good end to the series. Right now, I don't think Halloween Kills is even better than Halloween 2.

Last Night in Soho (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9639470/?ref_=hm_rvi_tt_i_9)
A truly great film. You could knock out a 12 paragraph long glowing review and it still would not do it justice.
He has demonstrated it throughout his career, whether it's in Shaun of the dead or Hot Fuzz or Scott Pilgrim, but Edgar Wright is an abolute master of visual storytelling. Just the shot alone of Eloise/Sandie coming down the stairs in the sixties club looks a million bucks. And there are so many of them in this film that I simply lost count before it even ended. Like the train sequence, where you could probably do a lovely parallel with Hot Fuzz. Or the shot of Eloise running through the hallway in a frenzy, between what are either fellow students or ghosts from the past.
But I would miss out by not mentioning his talent as a storyteller. From the first moment she irresistably dances through the house, you are drawn into Eloise's world. Seeing the world through her eyes (with the discomfort that comes with the territory), growing ever more hallucinatory as the story progresses. Not unlike what you would would feel in films like Jacob's Ladder, where you cannot tell where the real world stops and the dream starts.
The final reveal is set up perfectly well and kicks off an astonishing final sequence with images worthy of Argento. Edgar Wright has done so many comedies that this came as a surprise, but he can do haunting shots and give them the same beauty that Dario Argento does.
All of the actors deliver. We know Anya Taylor Joy could do thrillers (like Split) and Thomasin McKenzie is someone to look out for with a performance reminiscent of Jessica Harper in Suspiria. And Matt Smith is perfectly cast as the sixties smooth man Jack.
I can't wait for this to hit the streaming platforms, so that I can watch it again (and again). Or to see his take on The Running Man. My favorite Schwarzenegger film in the hand of a cinematic genius. I just can't wait.
Five stars across the board.

Theo Van Gogh proved his capabilities as a filmmaker with 0605.
A solid thriller based on a political murder, something that should always be so exceptional that it causes the kind of shock and upheaval that Van Gogh captures well.
An unlikely hero just happens to be close by when it happens. Then a few things don't exactly add up, resulting in a conspiracy linked to fighter planes and cooked up by old men who smoke big cigars.
I love how the Dutch actors still put on a very heavy Dutch accent when they speak English. Wonder if they were instructed to do so. You know, making fun of the Dutch and how they think they speak English very well, while it's actually kind of rubbish. From what I know about the man, it would probably fit Theo and his sense of humour.

Edward Norton stars in a prequel to Silence of the lambs. Here we see how his character arrests Hannibal Lecter and how he ends up in the infamous muzzle and such. Which of course is only a set up in order to have Lecter and Norton's character work together in search of a serial killer.
Edward Norton delivers a good performance and Anthony Hopkins knows by now what makes Lecter work as a character. So he plays that out, but it does not have the unique tension that the Silence of the lambs had.
The killer was established and the home video/blowjob bit was pretty messed up. Then again, the look how crazy this guy is-bits are maybe a bit overplayed.
The finale was very tense, although the bit leading up to it was a tad predictable.

On a side note, I don't seek faithfulness in adaptations. So, some others can see this as a frustrating failure too. Haunter of the Dark is one of HPL's best stories IMO, and methinks this is a deserving adaptation.

There are some scenes that may be nonsensical for the people who are not into fantasy very much. Like, Goran (a lesser demon) can be hurt by a metal stick, but not by guns. I think this is not even moot, in the fantasy context. The metal stick from a Medieval(esque) world can be enchanted and can damage some otherwise invincible creatures. This movie should be the definitive video art of the black metal heads. The hierarchy of evil was resplendently and grittily portrayed.
Huge warning and massive spoilers: Full nudity, extreme gore, no hope, no protagonists, no deus ex machinas, no cheap tricks, no remorse. 10/10 or 666/666

At this point in my life, this sort of oddball lighthearted dramas seem to be just what I need. Lighthearted in a positive way. The kind of story that lets you see beauty, through visuals and storytelling. It's just not the heavy handed "Meryl Streep teaches Anne Frank how to box"-award winning stuff.
The stars of this film are Bill Murray and Frances McDormand, both delivering great performances. Owen Wilson is hilarious as the bike riding Sazerac. In all fairness, this is just a personal opinion and it will be easy for you to see other people stick out in a film for which the word ensemble cast seems to have been invented.

As a huge fan of Korean cinema, I really avoided this one. No idea why, but couldn't get my head around to watch, but finally I decided to give it a ride and oh boy. What a ride it was.

Immortel (ad vitam) - (2004 - France/Italy/UK): Like a looooong cinematic video (in games) of those years. Not only it was good, but also, and more importantly, it was not boring. This is really a tough thing to pull off. Even such game cinematics could get bland, if they are longer than 5 minutes. A feast for the eyes, a playful lover to the imagination. Hmm, certainly not a tutor to the intelligence. (It would be a masterpiece, then.) Kinda like The Fifth Element (1997) and Gods of Egypt (2016) were intertwined, but in an original way. 8/10

Loved it. Its the type of films I look for. These are not your basic horror. Ghosts, supernatural stuff. It's horrific stuff that possibly can happen. Example, I Spit on your Grave, Cannibal Holocaust, August Underground Series, Gore films. Lucifer Valentine's Slaughtered Vomit Dolls, Marion Dora films. A Serbian Film. Guinea Pig Films. Stuff like that.
A lot of people should check out this doco. It explains why some horror fans seek out stuff like Red Films. Tons of interviews. ::love::

Read some mixed reviews beforehand. Some folks thought the second half of the movie too chaotic. I don't really get the criticism... it's a postmodernist movie: one allows the plotline to go on the loose.

At the beginning, I did not think that much of Frostbiten (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454457/?ref_=rvi_tt). Mostly because the fake out jump scares in the beginning did not do all that much for me. Later, when things really pick up, the film gets better. The tension picks up and the story captures you.
The scene with Sebastian's hallucinations is pretty funny as well as the dinner scene with the poor little bunny. The effects on the Beckert monster were well done and the party scene was a good climax.
I liked the Vega character and the actress who played the mother (she kind of seemed like a Swedish Frances McDormand) did a good job.

HIDE AND SEEK (2019). This reminded Me a lot of GET OUT with HAS using Class Distinction as opposed to opposite ethnicities. A Young girl marries Her beau, but to be "Accepted" by the In-Laws, She has to play a game which may not be as She expected.....
It's an interesting premise, Samara Weaving truly goes all out as the Bride and there are some darkly humorous parts. La peau blanche (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411743/)
This was a bit of a slow burner.
Straight off the bat, we get a hint towards vampires, but the story does not really follow up on that. Instead, it builds up an unconventional, uncomfortable romance.
When the story unfolds, it remains a bit vague. Are they vampires? Cannibals? i'm not really sure. What I do know is that both the story and the characters had enough flesh to keep you invested and earn a third star. I also like the Quebec accent enough to make that a plus.
Ok I’ll play

Cam (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8361028/?ref_=rvi_tt)
Cam was a fun watch.
The strength of this film relies on Madeline Brewer's performance. She does a good job, getting you as invested as possible given the subject. That said, the helpdesk trouble are relatable. Even when you are talking to a real life person, it sometimes feels like you are talking to a robot.
The ending kept it from a fourth star. A bit dodgy and far fetched. I am aware that things like AI and deepfake are advancing by leaps and bounds, but to pull off some kind of AI identity thief? Then a real life lookalike in cahoots with some vindictive colleague/fan would have made more sense.

Jurassic World (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369610/?ref_=tt_rvi_tt_i_3)
1) Who am I supposed to be rooting for again? And how bad is it for your film when you as a viewer ask yourself that question (at least) two or three times in two hours?
2) Why is the most likable human character a Pratt?
3) Fallon's cameo was kind of funny because of his zanness.
4) Good to see Omar Sy in such a big production. His character was kind of likable as well. And Shredder gets a role too *James A Janisse-voice* That's nice!
5) Lots of people die horrifically, but PG 13 gore and violence because... money.
6) CGI sucks. It pretty much ruined the scene where Pratt rides his motorbike between the raptors.
7) In a roundabout way, this film shows the genius of Steven Spielberg. Yes, he had to have sweet children and cheesy moments in his films, but at least he knew how to f-ing do it. This film's portrayal of kids was at times closer to the Tom Cruise version of War of the worlds.
8) The same thing goes for the chase scene. It has nothing on Goldblum's "must go faster".
9) Oligarchs and billionaires run this world, so it's kind of fitting that most of the "good guys" are corporate douchebags.
10) Yes, the scene where the monster pops out of the water and eats the what I think is a shark looks pretty damn impressive. That makes a trailer, not a 2 hour film.
The vast of night: 8/10. Scifi. Made in 2019 but takes place in 1950s New Mexico. This movie was a good time for me. Very simple plot but very entertaining.

Really enjoyed this, one of the better newish horror films I've watched recently. Violent, but doesn't go overboard and some darkly funny moments that work better than expected. To Me, the obvious inspiration was THE STRANGERS, but also noticed some HOME ALONE moments as well. Yeah, not a lot of depth, and not a very good movie. A decent degree of what they call "production value"... which is technical expertise and usually a big budget. I had some fun watching the big budget special effects applied to the zombie theme. The ending turned quite weird actually, like a DC movie. ::big grin::

In the midnight hour, a lone DJ broadcasts the strangest - and scariest - tales from the outer edges of Kirlian, a lost city somewhere in Argentina.
8/10
Magnificent animation.
Looks intriguing.
I had the same thoughts. Loved the idea and direction but was disappointed with the last half.
I felt like they could’ve added 5 (hell, 1 more minute)more minutes and showed them step outside to reveal something that gave us a better idea of what was going on and it could’ve went from a 6/10 to a 7/10 or 8/10 for me. I thought the DJ was a very entertaining character.

NAKED LUNCH (1991). The source novel by William S Burroughs is so obtuse and all but impossible to determine its course. Really, Cronenberg was the best choice for a film of NL and wisely, He decided it would work better using part of the narrative mixed with WSB life events.
Visually, NL is stunning with good score by Ornette Coleman Trio, but the story is so weird...almost a chore to get through. Good casting with Peter Weller (so emaciated in here), Judy Davis and Roy Scheider turning in good performances, especially Davis. "Bill Lee"(Weller) uses a lot of drugs in here and We are treated (if that's the right word) to his visions. Very off the wall they are, especially the bug/typewriter with the talking.....Well, I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it.
Worth seeing, especially for Cronenberg completest. **1/2

I was intrigued, myself and put it on the NETFLIX queue.
MAN BITES DOG (1992). Very low budget, B/W Belgian film concerning a film crew who record day to day activities of a Bon Vivant, who pontificates on many subjects (halfway through the film, You're wishing He would shut up) and also happens to be a vicious Serial killer. His mayhem is captured by the crew, they begin to get involved and eventually join in. Quite violent film, not really bloody, but very jarring scenes of destruction and a few severely distasteful vignettes, particularly one with a Married couple. Reminded Me a lot of "Found Footage" films like BLAIR WITCH PROJECT and the glut of "Reality Shows" that have become so prevalent. For whatever reason, Criterion seems to have problems bringing up subtitles on their films, making it difficult to follow (NAKED LUNCH also had this ), but was able to find MBD on YOUTUBE, uncut and with Subtitles. Obviously not for everybody, but worth checking out, although the most frightening thing I found in here was the laxness of the Local Police force, especially towards the end. ***

Leon's Broken Mind, 2011. 7/10
Director: Bazz Hancher

This director reached out to me with two of his projects, one was real 'gore' 'sick' footage which I passed on.
And then this. This is my type of subject, the mental illness, depraved , sick mind of someone. In this case it's Leon, a poor abused guy that misses his mother. Pretty fucked up film, well shot and some sick scenes. Perfect for that 'deep' underground fan.

I can't imagine what the one you passed on is like. How flattering to be sought out by people to watch their movies. *proud*

Alien³ (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103644/?ref_=rvi_tt)
Like with Terminator, it seems like part 3 did more damage than the original sequel.
While Aliens expanded on the original concept, this one ventures more into generic action film territory. Not much to care about, though it's nice to Pete "Kobayashi" Postlethwaite get a small part. Even Sigourney Weaver looks a bit lackluster in this one and the Lance Henriksen cameo was a bit forced.
David Fincher probably did what he could with the script he was given, but at that point, he was still a way away from his later masterpieces.
It makes me want to say something nice, because somewhere in there, there's something that convinced a studio exec to give him the green light to do Seven. What it is? Not sure yet.

You aren't saying that the sequels to Terminator and Alien are bad are you? Both Terminator and T2 as well as Alien and Aliens are the ways to handle sequels.
But with Alien 3, I attempted to watch the extended version a while back and couldn't finish it. I noticed that it did have a different ending. And it looks like it came straight out of Heavy Metal. But it's a terrible movie coming after Aliens. The premise of Alien 3 actually doesn't make sense.
I believe Alien 3 is the movie where an executive said they could film him using the bathroom on the wall and they would still call it an Alien movie. Sadly, that's the truth and also a terrible way to make movies, manage a movie, or run a movie studio. As you should be making the best movie creatively and in terms of story progression. Not something to just make money.
They haven't made a good Terminator or Alien movie since T2 and Aliens. I kind of like Prometheus but it also has the whole crossbreeding alien which I hate that starting in Alien 3.
