The House of the Devil

Was rather disappointed by this. I was reading that it would combine elements of slasher and haunted house movies of the 80's, so I was actually expecting a mix between Friday the 13th and Amityville Horror with a Slasher typical high body count (actual bodycount is 1) and some spooks in the house (actually it's not haunted at all) so yeah...film was over very first, liked the attic scene though, but other than that, there was not much going on here.

Now this one was entertaining, about a guy who is capturing a wild woman in the forest, bringing her to his home to "civilize" her...I loved the acting in this movie, and the progression of characters.

I thought it was alright. 5/10 for me sounds right. I think it wasn't about having a plot like 80's horror films, but the style of them in the colors, the way it was shot, etc.

Not horror's but:

Hunt for the Wilderpeople - I really liked this film, Sam Neill has always been a favourite of mine and I loved his grumpy old bushman character. Great performances across the board and quality storytelling (even if it does get silly in places). Highly recommended.

Swiss Army Man - Not sure how I feel about this one, I nearly gave up after half an hour but persevered (glad I did in hindsight). Definitely original and two very watchable performances from Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano but in the end I just didn't get what it was trying to say. Think Cast Away meets Weekend at Bernies but on a shitlload of drugs and you're halfway there.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople is an absolute gem of a coming-of-age adventure-comdedy, IMO! Loved it too. Taika Waititi is becoming a director to watch out for in coming days...very much looking forward to see how much fun & exciting THOR: RAGNAROK would be in his hands.

A film about the German soldier Clemens Forell who escaped from a gulag pow camp in far eastern Siberia and walked all the way back to Germany.

Based on a true story.

A very good film, it has a number of sad moments too.

The Caretaker a.k.a Portend (2016)

https://s22.postimg.org/wa06zeif5/Caretaker.jpg

A young woman returns home with his boyfriend to care for her gravely ill grandmother, only to begin sleepwalking, envisioning spirits and uncovering dark secrets in her family's past.

It had some potentials (including that skinny & creepy old lady) to be a decent & twisted low budget scary film but they didn't much try to even make it that way. The lame ending made it just another average low budget horror but it really could have been a lot better & creepy. Anyway, I've seen worse & at least it wasn't as awful or bad as I expected initially.

Don't Blink

A decent enough concept - a group of ten people arrive at a secluded mountain resort, no petrol for the return trip and no-one around to help. One by one they disappear without a trace. Sounds like the usual slasher set up but in this case the 'culprit' is never revealed or explained.
One of those films that's worth a viewing as at least its trying to be a bit different but ultimately I was left dissatisfied. I'm all for films not explaining things every step of the way but this mystery didn't grab me enough to really care.
One to watch when there's bugger all else on..

Blood Trap 2016

Awful. Based on the trailer it looked like a fun and somewhat cheesy film. It's not what the trailer makes the film seem which is a vampire building their house as a trap for people who try to sneak in and steal or what have you. Its not quite that, but I won't say so as not to ruin it if you do decide to watch it. I HIGHLY suggest passing on the film. Yes there are vampire babies and that could be silly fun. Instead its done terribly. The film is very slow. To summarize the film I'd say its what people seem to call dude bro movies mixed serious criminals and cheesiness. Got the required psycho, the calm tough guy, pointless lesbian nude scene, the pretty boy, etc etc. And all of it combined poorly. I know I know you're thinking "but, but, but...baby vampires!" No its not fun. There's also a rape scene of a man, but it really doesn't exemplify the horror of being raped. Pass on this garbage of a film.

Definitely not for everyone as it was kind of a difficult film to sit through not only for its quite slow burn nature but also for the disturbing elements. But sill I'd like to appreciate it because as an indie feature by a debutant director not only it was decently made but it also succeeds on what it was intended to be...an abstract & grotesque showcase of a surreal horror film where six dead women wakes up in the crawl space below their killer's house to relive their nightmares & their journey through hell! An original art-house horror flick full of symbolism & surreal imagery and there was not a line of dialogue anywhere; worth a watch for the arty horror film lovers.

I liked it. Some cunt girl kills Raymond's younger brother, Brice, by accident. There is a group of kids there, all friends. Raymond is slow so they decide to blame him for the death. 6 or so years later, he escapes the mental hospital to seek revenge.

It has some great practical FX. That tells me they cared to film something worthy. You take the time to do practical, you will always get my support. : )

'The Magnificent Seven' (2016)
Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt

Plot: IMDB
With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue, the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns. As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.

Phantom's Review:
First let me say, I love the 1960 film staring Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen. It's one of my favorites. Now, having said that let me say..I LOVE THE NEW MOVIE! This is the most entertaining movie I have seen all year. Plenty of action, great acting and a good story and the nice thing is, while the bones of the story are the same as the 1960 film, it's mostly an original film. The actors all play different characters and the setting and villain are different. It's almost more of a companion piece to the 1960 film than a remake. If your a western fan , GO SEE THIS, you will love it. (and yes the classic M7 Theme music is heard over the ending credits).

The Day -

Another short movie and it's an odd one. I think everyone knows Night of the Living Dead and the 1990 remake are great, classic horror movies. With The Day, it seems like all they wanted to do is make the house standoff. When I started the movie, I thought this might be bad when I saw the WWE logo. I've seen a few of their horror movies, none of which are particularly good. This one does have a cast of actors that I've seen in other movies and TV shows. It seems like I'll watch Shannyn Sossamon in almost anything these days. Yet the whole movie is basically people in an apocalypse, who knows how the apocalypse happened, stop at a house and run into bad people. Who they know are out there. Unlike the zombies where we are figuring out along with the characters what the situation is. Here we are in the dark and just there to see if this group will survive the bad group that is coming for them. A group that doesn't come off as heroic either when an event happens. There is a twist but nothing major really comes of it. It's a very bleak movie right down to the cinematography. And fairly pointless in the end.

Bloodworx -

For the most part I watched this one because Tricia Helfer is in it. Also one of the girls from Hatchet is as well. I figured maybe it will be somewhat good even though the trailer wasn't that great. The annoying guy from the Friday the 13th remake is in it too. He plays the same sort of role and gets to see another blonde girl's fun area in what looks to be a mirrored shot of the one from Friday the 13th. But overall the movie feels like a movie that actors would make while they are waiting on a good role. So basically to pick up a check. Tricia Helfer does her best here though as I guess a scientist with good intentions. Even if she goes about them in the wrong way. Her character never becomes a crazy, dark, mad scientist though. Maybe you could call her a bit mad in the modern sense but not in the movie mad scientist way.

I've seen a few science movies gone bad and they always manage to get the feel right. Even video games get it right. Whether it's a dark science type, an overly sci-fi experiment type, or an underground government lab type. This movie feels like an experiment, maybe it's supposed to. But only near the end do they try to say it's a horror movie. Even complete with a government or other agency type cliffhanger which they can't possibly believe they would ever get to make a sequel.

The Forest -

I haven't seen a good Japanese horror movie in a while. And this isn't a real made in Japan horror movie but I thought it would be good. It kind of is and isn't. If you like Japan you'll love many of the shots and scenes throughout the movie. Although checking IMDB tells me that the actual forest scenes weren't shot in Japan. So that's disappointing but then so is what happens around the halfway point. The story is that a girl goes to look for twin sister in a Japan, a country foreign to her, alone. That doesn't make much sense in real life but it's a horror movie so we go with it. I posted I think here or on the Horrordvds forum that you can make a good horror movie with just a pretty girl and good location as long as it doesn't get too silly. The remake of When a Stranger Calls is proof of that. But at that halfway point, once she's in the forest, that's when we know the direction the movie is going in. And it's not a good one.

I don't want to spoil it but this movie has the sort of thing that Cabin in the Woods made fun of. You would think a movie that is released in 2016 wouldn't attempt something that another movie said was silly back in 2012. But here we are. And even more, it ends with something I thought was misplaced in The Ward. Overall, it ends up feeling like they had an idea for a horror movie and just added the usual Japanese horror tropes thinking it would be good enough. And I guess it was since the movie was profitable. But it's not anything worth revisiting once you see it.

Deepwater Horizon

Surprisingly entertaining and really intense. It reminded me a lot of last year's Everest, which was another great docudrama disaster movie. It also wasn't just a dumb disaster flick where a bunch of people die off just for the sake of dying; the characters were memorable, well-written and well-acted. There's a lot of build up to the disaster. A lot of details are established as to how the disaster occurs and the people specifically responsible for what happens.
It's very detailed and also adds a lot to the suspense of the movie.

Rabies (2010)
I.M.D.B. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1754000/)
A brother and sister who run away from home find sanctuary in a deserted nature reserve. When the sister falls into the trap of a psychopathic killer, the brother sets out on a race against time to find help. In a twist of fate the rescue of the sister becomes inadvertently intertwined with the lives of a group of young tennis players, a ranger and his dog, as well as a team of policemen.

This was an odd movie. Character decisions annoyed me at first, but once I began to understand the premise, I could settle into the carnage of it all. It's solidly made, with good acting for the most part. It took me about half the movie before I started really enjoying it, but once it became (somewhat) clear what was going on, I found it an enjoyable, violent little movie from Israel.

7.5/10

On a secluded family farm, a mother suffers a psychotic break due to postpartum depression, forcing the eldest son to protect his siblings from the mother they have always known and loved.

A strong performance from Colleen Porch (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1312500/?ref_=tt_cl_t1) as the psychotic mom and an effectively understated performance from Ridge Canipe (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1534812/?ref_=tt_cl_t3) as the son. While the movie feels a bit amateur in places, those places are few and far between, and generally this movie is well made and the violence is handled well, giving an emotional impact without being too graphic (as it's children we're dealing with). A pretty good horror movie.

Very enjoyable small budget horror comedy. An alcoholic werewolf deputy sheriff, occult ceremonies, shapeshifters and biker gangs all thrown into the mix. Well worth a watch.

Ghostbusters (2016)

Disappointing. I quite liked the four main characters (Kate McKinnon being the stand-out) but the story-line was weak and most of the jokes were poor. I didnt like the way they made the ghosts look or the constant nods to the original films either.
With that cast they could've done a lot better.

Primeval -

I always like a crazy, big animal movie. Few are good. King Kong probably being at or near the top, with the stuff on Syfy being at the bottom. But even those Syfy ones are fun at times with the poor CGI, exotic locations, and girls in bikinis.

Primeval was released in theaters so it's more serious than a Syfy animal movie. They try to have a relevant background story as well with the events happening at the time in Africa. A plus is that I've always found Africa kind of untapped for horror movies. It always comes off to me as an undiscovered and hazardous country with the jungles and various animals roaming about. I'm sure a lot of scary bugs and spiders are there. Someone could make a good movie like Arachnophobia but just starting in Africa.

Anyway, I liked this one. The cast is fine. And the large crocodile and the way it goes about it's business is crazy. There are a few really good shots of it chasing down people.

I can't wait to see this movie. I'm sure it's funny going by the cast. I love the original movie. It's perfect and a classic. The second one is just ok.

I think the people that were against the movie from the beginning without even seeing it were a type that have sprung up in recent years. I wish they would go away. Even if the movie is bad, female Ghostbusters hurt no one.

Since her childhood, Jessica has been haunted by recurrent nightmares whose meaning escapes her. This peculiarity has led her to study the psychophysiology of dreams and to follow a therapy with Sean, her mentor and boyfriend, to try and understand the origin of her nightmares.

A trippy movie with a bizarre concept (supernatural time travelling lucid dreaming?). It was well made, with a pretty good representation of dreaming and some interesting imagery and colours. Just don't think for one second that this will have anything to do with actual lucid dreaming. A tough one to recommend, but I enjoyed it, and it is well made. But more style than substance.

You might want to check out My Life in the Bush of Ghosts by Amos Tutuola. Its about a boy fleeing from becoming forced into being a child soldier and then the ghosts he meets in the bush. It uses a lot of various African myths about ghosts. Not sure if its general Africa or specifically where he's from.

But after she was attacked & raped in her home by an unknown assailant, she gets caught up in a curious game to tracking down that man down...a game that may, get any moment, spiral out of control!

From the director of the original RoboCop, Total Recall & Basic Instinct; it was nothing great but an interesting psychologically twisted drama with little dose of both thriller & comedic elements.

I found it pretty popcorn.
Personally I have to disagree with the comparison.
I thought the first one was quite good, respectful of the source material, trying to make new of old and I think they did ok.
I actually liked the second one more.
More action heavy but the inner-fleet turmoil and a more interesting villain.
Anyways.

The third, though?
Just inferior in almost every way.
Wasn't really anything about the music for me though...just the whole...the plot was weak, the bad guys motivation if you can even call it that was pathetic...not to mention entirely overused in movies like this.
Their "new and interesting" side character just felt forced. I found it "ok" but pretty shallow...and that whole MAJOR plothole: How was the girl "hiding out" in a cloaked ship from the enemy exactly? It had crashed and remained stationary, and it was HIS ship...so what, he just forgot it was there?

It's not without its fun moments. But you can tell it's been largely handed off to someone else. JJA strikes again. Alias went to shit because of him doing this, LOST became a mess when he left too. Now this.

I'd see it if you kind of enjoy the characters, but it was almost like some of the actors had gotten pretty tired with it too, I found a lot of their energy seemed to be gone.
I'd give it a 5/10 honestly.

SCI-FI BOYS (2005). Pretty good retrospective of the children of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND magazine, including John Landis, Peter Jackson, Don Glut and others. Lots of Forrest J Ackerman footage also.
Like Jackson (and many others , I'm sure), I can remember my first FM vividly. In a short version, was in a TG&Y in Jonesboro Arkansas (Five and Dime Store) in probably early October 1969. It was Issue #59 with the great Basil Gogos cover of Barnabas Collins.. Was a big DARK SHADOWS fan, so got it strictly for that and became hooked for the next several years until all the STAR WARS coverage began-and was really more into music by that time anyway. Still, a great intro and despite the juvenile thrust FM often took, I remember that time fondly and certainly enjoying brewing a pot of coffee and poking through my many back issues. ***

The Girl on the Train (2016)

Loved the book, loved the movie. It takes a while to get going, but it gets really suspenseful in the second half. The directing was great. It gave a disorienting feel to the film that makes sense since the movie is from the points of view of three women, and one of those women is a depressed drunk divorcee. The directing choices justified the first half's slowness in retrospect. You don't know which point of view or which memory is real, but it's all put together nicely at the end. Emily Blunt is incredible.

The sadistic members of a villainous family return to their childhood home to terrorize the new home owners and their guests.

Some good violence in this one, but the run time is too long for the material and the characters are unlikable. A nuanced performance from the titular Mother would have gone a long way to hold it all together and make it interesting, but Rebecca De Mornay's (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000360/?ref_=tt_cl_t1) performance was shallow and uninteresting.

I wasn't happy with the core of the first film (2009), but I still found it interesting and enjoyable enough. It wasn't the tone/core of the original series in many ways to me, and in other ways is was (of course), but it's an alternate universe, and I like new material, so I wasn't complaining.

I liked the 2nd one much better. It captured the serious tone the original series would do so well often enough. It was a pretty tight and gripping story. Haven't seen the 3rd.

Haven't seen it yet. I only watch these type of films when I need to have my brain almost completely turned off. I'll see it eventually at least 'cause of Cumberbatch. I thought the first one was bad too.(not original, but these awful alternate reality ones)
I hear ya. Certainly wasn't a home run.

Watched it. Still meh. Cumberbach is always great, but that's about it. 3/10
Second film, Into the Darkness, was a 3/10 for ya?

I agree, it wasn't a very good or great film, but I thought it was overall very competent... had momentum, twists and was entertaining. It has a
90% audience rating at rottentomatoes. Vast majority of folks liked it. I'm guessing the subject matter and/or genre really isn't something you like. Or just too much of this series too soon.

Cliched. Bad dialogue. Acting, while not requiring that much, was less than mediocre. They tried to put story into an action film, but they ended up doing very little story and it felt like filler between action scenes. No great social/political commentary like original star trek. It feels like they took star trek and made it into the various super hero movies we've been getting which I also dislike. Not all super hero movies, but the ones for the past 5 years. Making money instead of making an at least decent film. I do like sci-fi and fantastic fiction.

A star, Miyuki Goto (Ko Shibasaki) plays Oiwa, the protagonist in a new play based on the ghost story Yotsuya Kaidan. She pulls some strings to get her lover, Kosuke Hasegawa (Ebizo Ichikawa) cast in the play, even though he's a relatively unknown actor. Other performers Rio Asahina (Miho Nakanishi) and Jun Suzuki (Hideaki Ito) lust after Miyuki. Off stage the cast's possessive love and obsessions exist as reality. Trapped between the play and reality, the cast's feelings for each other are amplified. When it becomes clear that love is not meant to be both on and off stage, love turns into a grudge and crosses the blurred line between reality and fantasy.

Takeshi Miike has made a lot of movies, some good, some bad, some great, and a whole lot of bizarre. This movies blurs the line between theater and film, giving a slow paced but interesting first half, before delving into more Miike-like madness and gore in the second half. It's all very interesting and somewhat hypnotic to watch, while you wonder just what on earth is going on, but it all comes together and makes (a semblance) of sense. This is a movie that deserves a deeper, more studious review, but overall it was an interesting and enjoyable film, and very well made.

ya, Term 3 is a weird film. It's not written nor directed by James Cameron (first 2 were), plus different actors, and it's just not Cameron quality.

But if you go in knowing that, I think it's petty cool. Budget, effects, actors & stunts are top notch. The story is ok.

Having seen it in theatre and tv screen, I can tell you it loses a lot of impressiveness on the small screen.

As I recall the ending really hurts an otherwise fun ride. I liked way better than annoying Salvation (though the FX were good).

An inventor, his girlfriend and 4 home invaders stuck in a three hour time loop with ever increasing recollections of the previous time loops and the decisions they had previously made. More than a little of Live Die Repeat here but its definitely interesting to have several characters all remembering different scenarios as they try to find their own way out of the time loop alive.
Set almost entirely in a small house, its dark and claustrophobic, decent enough performances and, at just 88 minutes, it doesn't outstay its welcome.

" After the re-emergence of the world's first mutant, world-destroyer Apocalypse, the X-Men must unite to defeat his extinction level plan."

After hearing a lot of bad reviews, I wasn't expecting much, but I really liked it.

It's a film series, so if one hasn't seen the previous films, they will surely miss the nuances of the character performances, as well as the overall story. Like many superhero films, it's an action-adventure full of moral decisions, and full of social-spiritual-political symbolisms -- something director "we shouldn't have to" Singer does very well.

I liked that the film made super-villain Apocalypse rather low-key, human and even personable, as opposed to some unrelatable bombastic megalomaniac thing.

I enjoyed this 80's action hero vs the gang from Wrong Turn (with a scooby doo plot) film more than I should have.
Navy Seal taggs along with his GF and her students camping trip. The Hills have Eyes crew show up and all hell breaks loose. Huge body count for this kinda film and the kills are kinda gory but are badly shot and lit. There are some murders straight outta RAMBO.

Cameos from Vernon Wells (Wez from Mad Max 2) and Bill Moseley..

Krampus -

This is a strange one. It's a Christmas horror story. Perhaps better suited for winter. But also maybe a bit too dark for the holidays. In fact, I was concerned with how dark it was going as I thought I knew how it had to end because I assumed most Christmas stories of this sort have the same type of ending. Also, I didn't know Krampus was based off a real myth creature. It's a very good story and one I recommend seeing. Like Trick r Treat by the same director, Krampus is very good at establishing the season. And I thought Krampus was better than Trick r Treat until the about the halfway point. Also, I love the first shots of Krampus. I can't believe we still haven't seen a similar scene like that in a Batman movie. The actress who plays the mother is cool too. I've seen her in a few movies and tv shows before. I think the movie is probably perfect to watch right after Thanksgiving but way before Christmas.

I really disliked this one. Even worse then Salvation. It felt like a parody

All the Terminator movies after the first two and T2:3D are a joke. It's like they don't even understand Terminator. Part 3 started off as a parody almost from the beginning with the glasses scene.

I've never been much of a fan of Guillermo's work. I find his movies somewhat mismatching - it's as though they're children's horror movies, but with the violence of an r rated movie. Often the background orchestra is light and almost playful which juxtaposes the fearful imagery on screen. It's almost as though his movies are conflicted, unsure of what they're meant to be. And I can never shake that feeling as I'm watching. This one was no different. While well made in many respects, I find the moments of fear and tension miss the mark.

Humor's a very subjective thing I guess. That's why I rarely recommend comedies to anyone. When I watched it I didn't compare it to the original in any way. It was just a fun movie night with the wife. I kinda wished they had done a sequel though (with the new cast) rather than a reboot.

The Possession of Michael King sounds like a premise up my alley.

Totally agree on Backbone. Nicely shot, realy good cinematography, sound, very competent presetation of the story. I just didn't find it worthwhile... in that I found the story rather bland., slightly boring, not scary, barely suspenseful in a few spots, and a generally unimportant and unemotional story. I had a hard time caring both times I saw it.

Mike Flanagan never disappoints, even with a sequel (well, prequel) to one of the worst horror movies of the past few years. Flanagan's strong point is always his characters, and this is no exception. The acting is incredible, especially from the kids. Some good twists and scares too. Definitely recommend that you watch this and completely avoid the original. This stands alone as a quality horror movie.

'10 Cloverfield Lane' (2016)
-John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Gallagher jr

Plot: IMDB
Soon after leaving her fiancé Michelle is involved in a car accident. She awakens to find herself sharing an underground bunker with Howard and Emmett. Has she been saved from an apocalyptical event as Howard & Emmett tell her or are there other motives for her being held against her will?

Phantom's Review:
Like 'Halloween III: Season Of The Witch' or 'Curse Of The Cat People' this film is a sequel to 'Cloverfield' in name only. There are no giant monsters, screaming crowds or found footage. This instead is a well acted, claustrophobic drama. John Goodman is fantastic and plays his character both as very sweet and then terrifyingly creepy. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is perfect as the young woman trying to escape and John Gallagher jr nails his character and brings a bit of humor to a very dark movie. There is a twist ending that MIGHT connect the two films but you don't need to see 'Cloverfield' to see this film. I was surprised by how good this movie was. I highly recommend it, but like I said before, don't expect big special FX or screams and gore. Just good acting.

http://s18.postimg.org/fhmrhldd5/She_Who_Must_Burn_2015.jpg

Angela used to work at a local clinic that was shut down after its doctor was shot to death by an anti-abortion protester. Undeterred, Angela decides to run her counseling work at home where she provides basic services - something that puts her at odds with the rest of the anti-abortion protesters, mainly a group of religious fanatics who believes that she is performing abortions. They also believe that she;s to blame for recent infant deaths (implied to be due to water pollution), which they see as a sign of God's disapproval. Things are made more tense when Angela helps the wife of the Pastor (the leader of the group) flee an abusive marriage.

Quite a dark, disturbing & sad flick about the horror of religious fanaticism. The story is set on a community that's blinded by religious dogma and slowly unfolds the evil & horror within. Pretty well made & acted with a few disturbing & eerie moments also...particularly found that scene of the birth of a stillborn & the way they buried the baby was quite shocking & sad and the role of the woman who played the mother of the stillborn and a hardcore religious fanatic - kinda felt like demonically possessed at times.

Overall, a pretty good movie from Canada. Recommended.

The concept sounds amazing;

A pair of outlaw brothers seek temporary refuge in a desolate town inhabited by a small family of psychotic cannibalistic lunatics.

Fuck yeah, started out fantastic but quickly lost the awesomeness when the 'family' tried too hard to be psychotic.

Inferno (2016)

"When Robert Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Dr. Sienna Brooks, and together they must race across Europe against the clock to foil a deadly global plot."

LOVED Angels & Demons when I was younger, so I was really anticipating this. It definitely didn't disappoint. Awesome puzzles and plot twists and everything. Is it a bunch of BS? Of course, but that just adds to the fun.

The Da Vinci Code (2006)

"A murder inside the Louvre and clues in Da Vinci paintings lead to the discovery of a religious mystery protected by a secret society for two thousand years -- which could shake the foundations of Christianity."

Surprised it took me this long to finally watch it. It's definitely the talkiest of the three. Still really loved it. More awesome BS religious conspiracy thriller stuff.

THE WINDMILL MASSACRE 2016

A tour bus in Holland breaks down on a deserted stretch of highway. One of the passengers notices a windmill nearby and sets off with another passenger to get help. By the title , I'm sure you can surmise where this is going.

I wasn't totally impressed, perhaps even a little underwhelmed. But I did read some very good reviews for it.

It's a car wreck type of movie for me. It's horrible and I know it, but I keep watching. This cruddy thing has become a staple of my Halloween movie roster and there is no rational explanation for this. Maybe it's the nonsensical plot points, or could it be the unexplainable actions of the characters? Perhaps it's the unbelievably annoying little boy at the center of this pile, or it may be Amanda Plummer, who plays the Mom and seems to be at a little bit drunk in every scene that she appears in. Whatever it is that keeps me coming back, I watch every damn October.

Dilek, a housewife suddenly starts to feel presence of something abnormal in a specific room in their house. Though her husband, Omer refuses to agree with her but situation become worse. ...

Omer is your basic belligerent "I don't believe in it!" type of husband. Dilek starts to notice strange things in the house. It gets bigger from there. Some typical horror elements, well a lot. But it was different from what I normally see since it was from Turkey using Islam djinn instead of Christian demons. Its about 2 hours and ten minutes and I was never bored. According to IMDB it was made with $700k. It does a lot better job than american horror flics who use a lot more money. I definitely recommend it. The ending is great too.

I can accept this - it wasn't the most becoming conduct in my part.
Though in my defense, stupid joke vs kind of, what seemed to be a little more intentionally cruel...
I don't know, I'll be honest - I can be introspective.
Maybe there wasn't too much of a line between the two.

Though the person in question has always interacted with this forum the way they've interacted with this forum. "Part of the furniture" type deal.
Like if that's how they're comfortable making a contribution, let them.
Far as I know, they're just being themselves. I don't see anything that can or should really annoy other users.

On the other hand if people say post what seem to be pretty deliberate and/or not-very-well-thought-out-timing-wise spoilers, less than favourable reactions can happen.
Not an excuse, I understand.

I just don't think we should dehumanize each other, and refer to each other as you would an animal or object, and continue the discussion in a cliquish manner.

Book I could deal with...or at least..."Ugh, ok".
Wash on the other hand.
That just wrecked me.
Loved how they gave us both the Back story of the Reavers and in that, the hunt that this information, the "signal" would have been part of bringing down the Alliance.

It's too bad there's been no follow up aside from some comics here and there.
Castle can't have THAT much more life left in it, and I don't think much of the other cast is involved in anything too big or ongoing right now.
Whedon is less involved in the Marvel stuff now too.
Perhaps it's time for them to pump the gas some and give us a new NETFLIX series...it's like, just about everyone on the damn planet would watch it.

If Fillion can squeeze into whatever he'll be wearing as "Wonder Man", I'm sure he'll be back in shape by then.

A b/w German film. It was so much fun to watch. Must have been fun to act in too. A couple split up because the girl has a dream and falls in love with a figure from her dream so she realises she never loved her bf. Her ex then plans to have her 'attacked' by an actor so that he can heroically rescue her and so win back her affection. But the 'actor' is really a kidnapper and maker of rape and snuff movies...

Under the Shadow (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4273292/) (2016)

After her husband gets transferred to another heavy war-torn area, a woman & her daughter struggles to cope with the terrors of 1980s post-revolution, war torn Tehran but things get even worse when a mysterious supernatural entity begins to haunt in their apartment.

Definitely worth a watch for the fans of other recent horror flicks that's dealt with single parenting issues with twisted & intriguing stories i.e. The Babadook and Goodnight Mommy. UTS starts mostly like a contemporary middle-eastern/Iranian drama flick focusing a family in distress or social issues, takes its time to set the premise for the characters and then slowly descents into the horror parts with a few but decently done jump scares & eerie set pieces. Loved it for its skillful direction & great all around performance from the central cast. Yeah...it still could have been a lot more creepier but my only disappointment was actually the ending that felt kinda forced, incomplete or to some extent "uneventful"; at least horror fans may going to miss a little punch at the end.

Kang-ho Song's (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0814280/?ref_=tt_cl_t1) performance was too understated to explore the premise and spiritual torture of a priest becoming a vampire, and there was some strange ghostly happenings towards the middle that didn't fit the film and simply went unexplained. This movie couldn't find it's feet. Very well made, however, with plenty of gruesomeness.

Tucker and Dale are on vacation at their dilapidated mountain cabin when they are attacked by a group of preppy college kids.

Great premise, and while the joke could easily have become stale, excellent performances from Tyler Labine (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0479527/?ref_=tt_cl_t1) and Alan Tudyk (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0876138/?ref_=tt_cl_t2) keep the movie rolling and the laughs coming. Two decades after the first Independence Day invasion, Earth is faced with a new extra-Solar threat. But will mankind's new space defenses be enough?

Not as stupid as I was expecting! In fact the movie managed to switch off my brain and keep me entertained throughout most of it. But the CGI was off. I felt no tension, no sense of destruction, so real sense of anything because it all looked too fake. Not a good movie, but not so terrible that I was groaning throughout.

The Greasy Strangler (2016)

This is one of the films that I planned on watching during the October month but due to the interference from Vicar Amelia I didn't get around to it...Now this one didn't dissapoint - Imagine the early works of John Waters and style of Napoleon Dynamite combined to make a Show reel with a Plot for a company that make STUNT COCKS then you might have a little grasp of what we are dealing with here.

A Father/Son team that run Disco tours have their life changed when a 'sexy' young woman comes into their life, add to this that the dad may be a serial killer. Every single character in it acts ODD and is odd. There is a great sound track and a satisfactory ending. The film also contains the best PHONE SEX scene ever...

If you think Divine eating dog shit is your idea of real entertainment then this is highly recommended - if you like The Big Bang Theory and would like a grease free diet then AVOID...AVOID...AVOID...

This was really weird but in a good way. It was funny but also very deep and sad. Great performances by Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano
