I really need to get another incense burner...
My cool zombie one was too short to use. :-(
I don't want one of those cheap Walmart ones I need a really cool incense burner that would look nice with my bedroom.

I used to have a cool gargoyle box I bought from a flea market.
Speaking of the flea market I went to one yesterday and bought some cool stuff. The coolest thing I bought was two hand-made dolls designed to look like the women of Ghana in West Africa. They were wearing these beautiful dresses and hats with painted tribal patterns and each woman had a baby wrapped on her back.
I thought they were cool. ::cool::

I'm really glad you're back on it and it's helping you feel better. :-)
I honestly don't think my medicine is working good enough. It has helped a lot but if I ever get too stressed out I can feel myself getting manic. I can control it better now than I used to before I found out I had Bipolar Disorder type 1 but I still have a lot of problems with it.
I guess I need to talk to my doctor about it but to be honest I think she's a terrible doctor, and I hate the place I have to go to because they're always changing up my doctors so I never see the same one every time I go. Maybe when I move back home I'll get to find a better doctor, but I doubt it.

I can't help but feel like they could have just as easily made this new Halloween movie Helloween 9 rather than completely cancelling out all the sequels and just ripping off with Texas Chainsaw Massacre did, which turn that series into garbage, and as cool as the trailer looks, will probably do the same thing to Halloween. I mean all they had to do was make it where Jamie Lee Curtis didn't die. I mean everyone thought Michael died at the end of H2O but so they can continue making sequels they made it so it wasn't him. why are they taking an idea that another film franchise had which completely ruined the series and turned the biggest part of their fans against them and apply it to such a National Treasure of a film series just so they can ruin it for the sake of making a mediocre amount of money from a horror movie? I mean yeah, it will probably be number one the first weekend it's out but then drop to number five or six the next week because everyone who went to see it tells their friends stay the hell away from it. This is just a waste of time and money and the studios way of saying "fuck you guys we don't care if we are ruining one of your favorite horror series because we are making money so you can just suck it".

I know they have all been rebooted like crazy but I can only think of Texas Chainsaw Massacre using the original and then canceling out all the sequels just to make a new part 2 which is what they are doing with Halloween.

You know what I really hate? The fact that George Romero's Night of the Living Dead and Day of the Dead have been remade so many times with crappy remakes (excluding the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead which was actually good).
I hate bad remakes of classic horror movies because once they come out it's like the original classics quit existing for the younger generation who don't know what they are missing. ::sad::

I wish filmmakers would start tapping into the literary World a little deeper. Just because a novel isn't a best seller doesn't mean it wouldn't make a great movie. there are so many stories out there that will never get to see the light of day and rather than just rehashing everything, why not start looking to books and authors for inspiration and ideas?

Yeah I agree because I'm tired of all these remakes and copycats of other people's movies.
And it doesn't even have to be books, they could research history and mythology to come up with creative ideas of their own. It seems like nobody really does that anymore but I might would do that if I wanted to make a movie.
Mythology and Folklore will always be fascinating and timeless and it has always served as an inspiration to writers and artists for centuries.

What's a couple things they said/did that crossed some real lines? I guess I'm curious what they're doing now.
I'm not surprised. To some extent they've always been in that area. At first it was a cartoon with cartoon kids swearing, and it went on from there. There's funny and then there's crossing lines, that's not always the same thing.
I remember this stupid show on TV 10-15 years ago, it was called something like 'funniest moments on TV", and the host just kept talking about it 'pushing the envelope', and it was just increasingly risque things on TV shows. Some were a little funny and some not at all. Sure wasn't the funniest moments on TV, that's for sure. Seemed more like indoctrination.

Family Guy was the show that I quickly had to stop watching, and before that American Dad... there was one were the alien character went all twisted serial killer, and I'm just like, even if this is done in a funny way, I don't want to laugh at this. Not my cup of tea. Not to mention being a little freaked out this is on broadcast TV.

Yeah I never liked American Dad or The Cleveland Show.
I mean for one thing they're all copycats of Family Guy which itself feels like a rip-off of The Simpsons.
And the jokes are starting to get unfunny and really offensive. Like for example I really hated it when Peter was talking to Chris about joining the army and said something along the lines of "And all the brown people you can rape". So Seth MacFarlane likes to make fun of the fact that our American soldiers got caught raping and torturing naked P.O.W.s in the Middle East? Why would anybody laugh at something like that?

As far as my Venture into adult cartoons go, I guess for its time The Simpsons was considered an adult cartoon and I watched the very first season from the very first episode and my grandparents who were catholic seemed very appalled by the fact that Bart Simpson said the word hell. After that I was a huge fan of liquid television and then of course Beavis and Butt-head was a huge thing for me and my friends and when the movie came out there were two rows in the theater which had about 25 seats each that were all our circle of friends in Junior High. I also like Aeon Flux and I watched the spawn animated series from the beginning and now I am a hardcore fan.
@Sculpt, so I feel the episode was to how there are so many school shootings now that no one even seems to really be paying attention to them. I understand that as there was a school shooting here in Las Vegas just a few weeks ago where a nine-year-old girl was shot and killed and the teenager who did it still has not been found although they know who he is. I don't think that has even made national news. But what bothers me about the episode is the fact that throughout the entire thing every time it's showing the kids at school, which is 3/4 the episode, there are people constantly in the hallways shooting and everyone is having to run around and Dodge bullets to get to class and everyone is acting like it's no big deal at all but the entire time Stan's mom is freaking out making it a big deal on a extremely manic level. The entire time though Stan's dad heaps overly playing it off like she is on her period to the point where it gets really drugged out. I get the point they were making in the episode but I think they went way too damn far with just the way everyone was having to dodge bullets and acting like it's no big deal and the one person who was freaking out about it they completely destroyed the episode. I just think that is crossing the line considering innocent children are getting killed and they are playing it off the way they are.
So last night I saw moonspell, dark tranquillity and amorphous in concert at the House of Blues here. It was a hell of a show and I had a blast! I am a little sore today because I probably walked around three or four miles yesterday all together on the strip.

Clarence Reid, the guy who wrote that cut...was a Real freak tho..early in his career he did some killer soul cuts in the 60's then he became Blowfly in the 70's 80's. Released lots of really explicit covers and originals, wearin' long capes, and sparkly masks. His later stuff wasn't really my bag....

Right on. It sounds to me that's what South Park was doing -- social commentary humor -- criticizing that we're all ok with the shootings, and everyone in the show is criticizing the mom for pointing out the horror of it.
Reminds me of when they had Christopher Reeves running around sucking the stemcells/brains out of babies. South Park was making fun of the use of baby stemcells to help people with spinal damage paralysis. This was a long time ago (if I'm remembering this correctly), but I got the impression SoutPark thought it was vampiric, and were against it, or least was pointing out the point of view, humorously (or line-crossingly), that it can be seen as vampiric and creepy.

Yeah I have seen the episode but that was just meant for shock value. This actually had a message behind it which made it more hardcore if you ask me. It's so sad that the things that are happening in this country do go ignored and those who try to raise awareness of it or keep it in public light or ridiculed. I imagine a world where people can use their brains.

I had gastric bypass surgery in 2012 and one of the main things I have had to do is make sure I keep my protein levels up so I know how it can feel when you are running low.

what's your problem man? Would take the time to read some of the things I post you would sarcasm but regardless, it was just a rant. I was thinking about some shit the other night and I thought about it out loud, my mistake, I know.
I haven't seen you around much since the last time you were here and cheeba got onto you over something but I'm starting to notice a pattern here, you only show up every once in a while and when you do you seem to stir the shitpot. You are pretty rude to people and like Bloof said, I was being polite, just like I have always been with you.
My problem is the merging local council in Nottingham, and affect that's gonna be having on disabled people like me. I've already survived being almost murdered once, and now I've got to fight a second battle. Plus, austerity sucks.

That's what the trolls do homie. They purposely do shit to get under people's skin and before they cross the line they take off until things are forgotten for the most part and then once they think it's safe they come out of their cave and start interjecting themselves into conversations that have nothing to do with them but they have to make it all about them because that's how they get off. They are emotional vampires.

But that's a you problem and not a me problem. I originally thought you were joking talking about arming myself to the teeth with knives. First of all I am legally blind so and secondly, I have no need for all of that. Here in Vegas a can of pepper spray or a taser while you are out at night riding the bus will suffice. You seriously need to drop your attitude though because you are pissing everyone off and coming from someone who has had it happen to Himself, you don't want to piss everyone off and turn the tribe against you.

A few months ago after I myself came back, so did he and I remembered his avatar from a few years ago so I was friendly with him at first but apparently he already had issues with cheeba and I'm not sure why but he began getting on my ass as well as someone else's but I can't remember who. Then he did get a warning but as you can see he did not eat it at all, just merely ran off to lick his wounds and wait for us to forget about it so he could come back and do his thing. I feel sorry for people like that because it's the only way they can get their Yaya's out.

Believe me, I have had tons of experience dealing with people like this, including when I was telling you about a few weeks ago. I take MovieLover12's response here at face here. I actually never liked the Laughing smiley here, as it does look a little mocking. Sometimes I'll use the Wink to say, 'hey just kidding ya', but then the Wink also has a flirty connotation to it, and I don't want people to think I'm being a weirdo. ::big grin::
But anyway, I'm just saying I think MovieLover maybe taking things the wrong way, perhaps more so than being a troll. But it's in MovieLover's court, I hope he sticks around and understands the vast majority of folks here are not taking shots at him that he needs to lash back at, we just like to friendly kid each other... and also newcomers always have to wait a few weeks before they can free kid, cause people don't know them yet.

You are going to have homophobia no matter where you go, it's just that some places or more open about their distaste than others.

New York is wonderful! I have been three times and the first was back in 2007 when my ex took me for my birthday and Alex Grey, the artist who does all the artwork for the band Tool, was having the 3rd or 4th anniversary celebration for his Studio and she got us tickets and I got to see some of my favorite paintings in person and I got to meet the artist behind them and have a conversation with him and his wife. It was honestly the best thing that woman ever did for me. While we were there the first and third time we did the Gray Line double decker bus tours where we could go on the top and it was open. We got to see all of Manhattan and even got to go over to Brooklyn and we took a ferry to Staten Island to get some really good pictures of the Statue of Liberty. if you ever get a chance I would highly recommend going there.

As far as seeing things you wouldn't see anywhere else, I have an interesting story. The first time I went to New York, my ex and I stepped off the bus in Chinatown and there was an older Asian lady there who wanted us to follow her and for some reason my ex did so I went with her and we went into a store where she opened up a door in the wall that you wouldn't know was there otherwise and got us to go inside where there were tons of knock-off designer handbags. The lady was trying to force us into buying some so I told her we had to go to the ATM and we got the fuck out of there. And then the last time we went she actually wanted to find some knockoff handbags so she could try to sell them. This time she went by herself since she was so damn eager and said she was let down the stairway into what she thought was an old Subway tunnel where all the bags were at and she bought two fake Louis Vuitton bags for $60. I was kind of annoyed that she did that since she always made a big deal about me buying a DVD or something and she wasn't even able to sell either of them.

Lol that kind of reminds me of the trips I take to the flea markets and I always find a few Asians with booths trying to sell cheaply made shit. The only things I ever buy from them are the things that look genuinely Asian like the beautiful floral pattern fans or the dragon and geisha figurines.

I'm glad it gets you where you want to go but I just feel like that brand is was potent than what you can get in places like France and the Czech Republic. Have fun though man! I wouldn't mind finding some mushrooms for Halloween myself.

Tasty stuff you have there, DBT! Good cigars. I assume you were describing the absinthe (and not the IPA and cigars)? I haven't had the opportunity to try absinthe before. But I saw a cool documentary on it on netflix sometime back.
You do the traditional pouring it over a sugar cube? Do you actually notice something different drinking absinthe?

the part about hallucinating on it is just a myth. It's just really good liquor, kind of like what moonshine is to the South. It was just illegal in the United States because of how potent it was but apparently they found a way to make it less potent which is what you can buy here. As far as the sugar and water go, the water makes it white and cloudy in a way and the sugar cube just sweetens it a bit and helps with the flavor, and the water makes the flavor not so overwhelming, but I always just drink it straight. I know a lot of people who can't tolerate The Taste and refuse to drink it. It is a very strong Taste of Bison Grass which is what they use to flavor black jelly beans and the first few drinks burn your stomach like fire but then once you start getting drunk it goes away. But just like the worm in a bottle of Mezcal making you hallucinate, Absinthe making you hallucinate is just a myth as well.

If I ever decide to pick up smoking I might try cigars. At least they look classy unlike cigarettes.
Morningriser
10-09-2018, 04:09 PM
Cigars are more for the flavor than for actual smoking. A lot of people don't even actually inhale the smoke because it's pretty harsh. I smoke cigarettes for about 2 years but when I move to Vegas I quit. I still smoke pot but I was able to kick cigarettes so I'm pretty proud of myself.

Awesome! ::cool::
I didn't really like the movie Queen of the Damned but the music in that movie was really cool. And Akasha was the only character I found interesting I wish she was actually in the movie more like the title implied. She made me think of what Cleopatra would have been like if she were turned into a vampire . Ruling over her kingdom with an iron fist and an insatiable thirst for blood. ::devil::

I would probably call up an escort service that charges $200 an hour that way you know they are more likely to be clean. With a social singing like Las Vegas has I would like to think after I've been here long enough to start making some friends and acquaintances it shouldn't be too hard to start meeting women. I'm going to try to get into college next fall is well so that will help me meet some people.

To be perfectly honest I wouldn't mind trying one of those legalized brothels for gay men that recruit hunky-looking ex soldiers and police officers as prostitutes. Maybe just once to see what it was like.
I actually support prostitution as long as it is legalized and the sex workers aren't victims of human trafficking. I feel like it might be great for our economy and it would even cut down on human trafficking since customers would probably prefer the cleaner and safer brothels over the illegal ones using sex slaves.

the band that opened for him had two members of orgy in it and they were some kind of 80s darkwave sounding band so I figured Jonathan Davis would sound like something similar to that but the only songs he did that remotely fit in to what I was expecting What are the songs from the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. And he even said about two songs in that this wasn't going to be a heavy show because Korn was one thing but his solo stuff brings out his soft and groovy side. He was even dancing around like he was Scott Weiland or something and the bass player was playing an upright Bass the entire time. It was weird.

I think joining Wrong Planet was a bad idea...
People with Aspergers Syndrome should not be allowed to form their own community because they can be such stubborn close-minded jerks who think they are experts on everything and force their opinions on each other and they refuse to accept anybody else's opinion unless that opinion agrees directly with there own. And for people who have such poor social skills they basically treat the message board like a high school where all the "popular members" band together to look down on the members who aren't so popular. Having a short fuse from my Bipolar Disorder does not help the situation either.
I wonder if they would delete my account if I asked them to? I don't think I ever want to go back there again. ::sad::

I guess even people with Aspergers and Autism can be assholes. ::sad::

That is ABSOLUTELY true! I have experienced that so many times lately.

I have started completely avoiding things that could potentially trigger me. The internet is quite a destructive place because everyone is free to say whatever they want without the consequences of it affecting their real personal lives. They see it as a security blanket that allows them to act in such Behavior without consequence and the people who have been in these places for years on end that act this way are seen as right no matter what their opinions are because everyone looks up to them and wants to be like them which sounds kind of lame because people should aspire to be leaders and not followers, especially over the Internet of all places. I feel the rate our race is devolving, we won't last another Century before we all blow ourselves to hell. I mean I am terrified about these younger generations and even my own generation taking such high political power all over the world considering what we have all been reduced to.

Yeah, the younger generation has been reduced to self-absorbed millennials and hipsters who always have their eyes glued to a smartphone and get caught up in their own little internet world.
I love the internet as much as the next guy but let's face it, it has ruined our society in a way. ::big grin::

Yeah but vampires are easily killable when you think about it. They can't be out in the sunlight or they get roasted, they can't touch things like garlic, holy water, or silver, being anywhere near a cross would damage you, and all somebody has to do to kill you is shove a wooden stick through your heart.
Personally I think I'd prefer being a Dhampir which is the offspring of a vampire mating with a human. They have all the strengths of a vampire but none of the weaknesses.

I've had a thing for witches ever since I watched the movie The Craft. ::cool::

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of using my powers to take the form of a beautiful young woman. ::big grin::
And I'd find ways to gain eternal life too. Maybe do like Elizabeth Bathory and bathe in the blood of young virgin girls to persevere my youth and beauty forever?
I'd be a very dark and evil witch. ::devil::

I always consider the pros and cons of being a vampire and while eternity would get quite lonely at long periods of time and I would have to kill to survive, I think I would be able to handle that because I would be dead myself but possess Powers Beyond human comprehension. I am not the kind of person that was passed that kind of power and experience up.
You could physically be able to kill to survive, but could you really (emotionally/psych/spiritually) be able kill people to feed on them? That's a whole nother story there.

I know what you meant, I was just being goofy. I have always loved you the way and rice writes about vampires. She presents them as a very dark and romantic but very deadly and they are creatures of beauty. That's the kind of vampire world I would want to live in if I had such opportunities.

If I could possess the powers of a vampire and not have to worry about living with the guilt of killing people while members of my family are still alive, then yes, I probably could.

My dark witch fantasy aside, if I became a vampire and had to feed off of innocent humans to stay alive I think I would feel very guilty.
Maybe I would decide to only feed on bad humans who hurt people?

Yeah but I think I'd rather feed off a serial killer or a rapist than a miserable average Joe who's got a family who would miss him.
Or maybe I could just turn everybody I fed on into a vampire like me? That way nobody really gets killed. ::wink::

Not so easy to find a serial killer. Slim pickens.
How soon do vampires die without human blood? They might not be so happy with their condition. ::EEK!::

I feel like each vampire story is different. In some stories a vampire tires of feeding off humans so they go into a deep sleep for centuries and refuse to wake up.
But I remember in the novel Dracula the vampire count would age drastically when he didn't feed and then he would look younger after feeding. So maybe sometimes they age too fast and die?
But then in some stories a vampire is sealed in a building as punishment and they go completely insane from not feeding.
I guess the reasons "why" they feed is always different in each story.

Wasn't there a vampire movie called "Innocent Blood"? I've never seen it but I'm guessing it's about a vampire who can only drink the blood of bad people.

I haven't heard of Innocent Blood. Interesting concept. Hopefully for the vampire they can just spit it out, cause otherwise that would be russian roulette.
Reading up on Innocent Blood, I see it's a 1992 John Landis film (of American Werewolf in London fame), where a lady vampire in Pittsburgh kills mobsters and makes it look like gang killings. Pretty bad reviews.
I remember reading a comicbook about a vampire that only drank from donated blood, and was researching for a cure. Much, much later I finally watched House of Dracula (1945). I always thought it was a fascinating concept.
Count Dracula (Carradine) arrives at the castle home of Dr. Franz Edlemann (Onslow Stevens). The Count, who introduces himself as "Baron Latos", explains that he has come to Visaria to find a cure for his vampirism. Dr. Edlemann agrees to help. Together with his assistants, Milizia (Martha O'Driscoll) and the hunchbacked Nina (Jane Adams), he has been working on a mysterious plant, the clavaria formosa, whose spores have the ability to reshape bone. Edlemann explains that he thinks vampirism can be cured by a series of blood transfusions. Dracula agrees to this, and Edlemann uses his own blood for the transfusions. Dracula has his coffin placed in the castle basement.

I think the idea of a not-so-evil vampire who doesn't like having to kill innocent people for blood is interesting. I mean why should turning into a vampire automatically make a person malevolent? They seem to have the same intelligence and reasoning skills as a human being unlike zombies.
I guess because they really need blood to stay alive and their immortality becomes a lonely existence they quit having any attachments to humans and view them as nothing but prey.
But I feel like each vampire is different. For example I heard that the vampire countess Carmilla in the novel of the same name grew attached to the main female character Laura who was a mortal human. She actually befriended her but was still killing and feeding off the blood of her victims.
I really want to read Carmilla someday. It's a classic vampire novel just like Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Yeah, there's different kinds of vampires. Usually the recently undead, usually a woman victim, comes back as a bloodthirsty zombie, only slightly able to try to trick a victim. The Dracula is usually given more brains and cunning for some reason, really making them two different creatures.

I guess you mean the "ancient" or "head" vampire vs the "lesser" vampires which are usually their fed-on victims who come back to life as vampires. Yeah the lesser ones always do seem to be weaker.
I guess the older the vampire the more powerful and cunning they are. ::devil::

In interview with a vampire, Louie is totally against killing for so long and then finally sir comes to his urge to feed on human blood. Also, it was under other circumstances, but in The Lost Boys, Michael didn't want to kill anyone either.

Neither did Star from what I remember.
And I think that movie explained that a person suffering under the effects of vampirism could be cured if the head vampire was destroyed before they themselves fed on a victim.
That's basically how Harker's wife Mina was cured in the novel Dracula.

I get the feeling I won't be doing Halloween this year so I plan to watch some of my horror movies on bluray.
I have Sweeney Todd, Sleepy Hollow, Night of the Living Dead, and soon I will have Carnival of Souls and Nosferatu.
I'm thinking about getting other movies on bluray someday but from what I understand bluray is pretty much dead now thanks to streaming. I don't think some of my favorite movies will even make it to bluray.

This will be my first Halloween in Vegas and I won't be getting to do anything. It's just too expensive to go out anywhere nice very often. I have my yearly ritual of watching horror movies on that day anyway so it's all good. Perhaps this time next year I will be in a better financial situation.

I can't remember the last time we actually did a holiday in my house other than Christmas.
We seemed to quit doing New Years, 4th of July, etc a long time ago. The only reason we used to do Halloween once we got too old to trick or treat was because my sister would do Halloween parties for her friends and now that she's moved away we don't do that anymore.
I guess now that all of her kids are grown my Mom doesn't really see the need to do holidays anymore. Plus like you said holidays can be expensive and we don't exactly have money either.

I watched some of it and it really isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I really can't tell that the movie was cropped at all and even though it isn't in full black and white the tinted colors really aren't so bad.
Now I can't wait to get Carnival of Souls. ::cool::
