Overrated? I'm trying to think of a better term for how I feel about them but I think overrated might be it. The first Evil Dead is a movie I absolutely love, so in my opinion no praise is too high for that one.
Dead By Dawn is a hilarious, chaotic blast but it hasn't really held it's bloom for me as the years passed. I like it, but I don't think it comes close to the original. Overrated? Yeah, with the perspective of decades of viewing, I can't argue to strongly against that.
Army of Darkness has never been a movie I've cared for. That being the case, I obviously consider any talk of classic status to be hyperbole. Just an opinion, of course.

I need to watch more to give a firm opinion on if you should or not, but so far I love what I see. It's more like the first movie than the other two.

I hear ya. It's subjective. But in regards to ED2, Roger Ebert gave it 5/5 stars (and later changed the rating). It's gotten high praise from film critics, not just Horror film fans.

To me, ED2 is a technical masterpiece -- the sound, lighting, effects, shots, timing, and heck, even the sets are quite fine. It's fast, furious and very funny, and the opening is so very trippy. I think it's a great film.

I wasn't AS impressed with ED. I liked it a lot. In comparison to ED2, besides being a serious horror film, it's certainly not as technically crafted as 2. I think ED is a really good horror film, but not a great film.

Army of Darkness is, once again, a different film. It's loose fun with a few intense and creative parts. I really liked it too. But it's not a great film.

Only argument you would get from me is on the original Evil Dead. I think that was a game changer and had held its entertainment power forever.

I don't give a whole lot of extra points for "being the first", and I didn't personally think I was seeing any firsts when I saw ED. I think the horror tone is unique, and in that sense original, but not groundbreaking.

Considering the fact that the people whose house I'm supposed to go to has one person that just got out of the hospital from having cancer surgery, and another that is on oxygen, I believe I'll spend Thanksgiving at home. I'll keep my germs to myself. With having been in the military, there were many times I couldn't get home for the holidays, being alone on a holiday does not bother me one bit.

Haven't heard the album, but looked over the tracks, and listened to "O Holy Night"... the hymn itself is one of the best Christmas compositions, along with "What Child is This", "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" and The First Noel.

I just assumed you'd be averse to gospel or christmas hymn music. ::embarrassment::

This version of O Holy Night, it's just not my preference, in that, Mariah does vocal runs throughout the entire song. Some songs invite or need it, and some are rather fragile against it or don't need it. I get my hair blown back with the Carrie Underwood's version, where I think it rides the natural emotion power of the composition.

I really liked Carey's early work, songs like Emotions, Someday and Vision of Love.

My guilty pleasure is Olivia Newton-John. I mean forever, not particularly for Christmas, though she does have two Christmas albums, but hasn't belted the O Holy Night. I have a soft spot for some Madonna songs too. Interesting she's never done a Christmas album, just Santa Baby.

Ahh, Oh Holy Night is by far my favorite Christmas song/Hymn. Sung by the right vocalist, it can practically slay me. I heard a version by Josh Groban that was stunning. I mean, it just was such an emotional charge to listen to. I've not heard any other songs sung by him, but he does a magnificent job with Oh Holy Night.
