Day of the Dead is a week long celebration to honor the dead loved ones of those who celebrate it. We studied in my high school Spanish class and I have always wanted to celebrate it but it is traditionally not done very often in America.

I think it's a beautiful holiday. I wish we did celebrate it. I want to take it upon myself to do so anyway, but not being of Mexican decent I feel it'd be somehow wrong.

Back pain really sucks. Especially when it keeps you from being able to sit at the computer for long.

Oh no! Back pain does suck. Do you know what the problem is? Is it spine? Muscular? I've heard that if it's muscular, ice is better than heat. Heat often gives you immediate relief but in fact, it increases inflammation and the pain can worsen when it returns. There's always the old standby of alternating heat and cold. That works for me. Fortunately my back pain isnt chronic, I really hope the same is true for you, Hammer. Feel better muy rapido!!!

LOL! I have a doctor appointment tomorrow morning, we'll find out if there's any kind of treatment. I'm sure it's way different than it was back in the 80s! I left early on Monday (couldn't tolerate sitting at my desk), and came in around lunch time yesterday. Doesn't hurt as bad today, but still hurts.

Has anyone talked to bamahorrorfan?

2 nights ago I snapped at him because I was getting between 10-20 messages a day from him over the past week mainly asking me to look at his posts or to tell me to inform people it was their turn in the draft, something I did anyway, and I told him that. I finally got fed up with it and told him what he was doing was borderline harassment and to stop bothering me with stupid shit. He told me he wouldn't ever talk to me again. I told him he could talk to me but he was flooding my inbox as well as my email with notifications of his messages. As far as I know he hasn't been online since the night before last.

I really do feel bad about this and hope he comes back. He is a nice guy he just tends to keep on me about things and it gets annoying.

Me too. Got a call from the doc last night with the results of my x-rays. The L4 and L5 discs are severely narrowed. If PT doesn't help, and it gets worse, he's talking having an MRI and possibly surgery.

Good luck, Hammer! My mother suffers from a lot of pain and she says that PT did help. If you have connections you should seek out getting massages too. Colleges offer them very cheap to teach their students. My sister is going to school for massage therapy so that's our connection. She gave me a shoulder massage for my birthday that did wonders with the pain I acquired from work.

So true, but when you find a good one, it's a huge benefit to the recovery. I checked out every review I could on every chiropractor in my area when I needed to see one. It paid off huge for me. The best advice and treatment I got was at that guys office.

Thanks man! Yeah we have a mini production crew formed, and a really good novice camera dude. We've worked on one other project and I'm confident in the whole group.

It's a Christmas slasher comedy about a guy who likes to kill people that dress in holiday costumes. Santa, elves, snowmen, etc. From the length of the script it should run about 17-20 mins.

true, rouseys judo and submission game shouldve been enough, theoretically, this fight. rousey tried to take her down, but holm displayed her strength, balance & quickness there. Holms grappling, judo & submission game will only improve from here.

Not sure why rousey was determined to strike with holm so much. Obviously that was poor strategy. Every mma fighter has tried to get holm to the mat. unfortunately for opponents, holms is extremely disciplined... boringly & frustratingly so.

I thought The Dark Crystal was cool, feast for the eyes, some winks at real world references, and mildly entertaining. I was hoping for a little more meaning in the film. Been years since I saw it, and it would likely be debatable, but I thought it was basically a pseudo-duality belief system, where only an outside belief system would want anything to change (that is, only a different belief system would 'want the situation at the beginning of the film' to change)... which actually is a rejection of the belief system the film portrays. If that makes any sense... ::wink::

Back in my day when you were alone...you were alone. With the internet it's pretty easy to find like-minded people. I had pretty much no one to share my love of horror movies. Even today my wife won't watch that genre with me. I had to trick her into watching The Guest..."Oh it's about a war vet who visit the family of his deceased comrade.....very touching story"....{She actually like it}. 34 is pretty young....you will find someone who appreciates you. Trust me.

Are you staying in her house or apt -- where you don't own the house or you're not on the lease?

If you've been with her a long time, and you don't feel she appreciates you, I'd recommend talking to her about how you feel in a constructive manner -- specifically letting her know you want to improve your relationship. She may help with how you feel, loneliness & other things.

Before you act, it's important to remember everyone likes what you do for them -- it doesn't mean they don't love or appreciate you. In a way we "use" the people we love. I'm not saying she does love you, I'm just saying to examine things fairly in a sober mind.

And people get into ruts... where they forget to express their appreciation of you, and even forget to give back to you. Sometimes we just need a reminder to "get back into relationship".

But after very careful consideration, if you two aren't compatible, you have to discuss moving on -- and begin "tilling the field" -- which can be a painful process, but the only way to a new relationship/life. You can't start dating a new woman while you're living with your girlfriend.

I agree, Angra. I'd like to know why MovieLover12 was banned.

On a large Chicago sports forum site I frequent, they have a thread where mods post who & why members are suspended and banned -- they write what forum rule was violated -- very brief, just so we know what's up. I think we should have a Mod Thread here at HDC.

Bans (permanent) are sometimes needed, but suspensions (temp bans) are often more beneficial for a small group like ours. I'd be happy to write up a simple procedure.

On the 3rd I am taking off on a bus to backpack around the country. I should be able to afford a laptop on or a little after the 3rd. I found a cheap fun hostel in Las Vegas. I am taking my camera and plan on documenting my travels and editing videos for youtube. So if I disappear all of a sudden don't worry I will be back.

I don't know if you know the original comic book story, but Ultron is a robot, with a computer brain, programmed to help humanity, and it's because it's a computer that it gets so completely wrong. This bizarre characterization is helped by making Ultron look, sound and act like a robot. And it makes it different than 99% of Hollywood films today. Oh those who don't know the original want it to stick to the original too! Example:

I didn't have comic book access or money to get them growing up, so I watched the cartoons I could and the movies they put out. The shows weren't a lot since I didn't have many channels, but my dad loves collecting movies, and he happens to like the super hero genre, so he bought them and that was about 93% of my comic book character experience (at least growing up).

One in particular I remember was Toby Maguire's Spider-Man. In the movie his shooters weren't home made or developed by him or any form of science that showed off his genius. They came OUT OF HIM. As far as I knew, this was accurate. And when I saw the recent reboot, I felt like a fucking idiot. So much of the movie I couldn't stay focused on because I was still stuck on this stupid fact I was never privy to with my weak exposure to comic books.

I do more digging these days when watching super hero movies. I read some comics when I have money to buy one or two (although they're always Hulk or Werewolf related, because priorities), I browse the net looking for back info when I want to know more, and if I watch cartoons (and especially movies) I check my facts before taking anything as canon because I am not making that mistake again. Older cartoons are usually more reliable.

We just have to wait and see how Infinity War goes. Thanos has the gauntlet and I assume by the end of IW part 1 he will have all the stones. I was expecting Ultron to be more badass and ruthless but I still have faith in Thanos I mean imo the only villain in Marvel who would be a challenge for him is Gallactus.

Im more like you in that sense... I got 90% of my info from the cartoons, as wasnt a big comic book buyer/reader. The early cartoons were 100% cannon, and most up till now are accurate too.

Its Hollywood film that has a long history of destroying original stories and cannons.

Spiderman shooting webs from his own body is a horrible change because one, he's a scientist -- who can change the formula and mechanics to match the foe and situation, and two, there are exciting moments when he runs out of web, and has to get creative. How shortsighted do you have to be to give up that story device?
