Rant. Apologies ahead of time.

Is anyone else getting tired of this ongoing debacle over genre movies and superhero movies not being "cinema"? I think Martin Scorsese is dead wrong.

The Shining is one of the best movies ever made.
The Exorcist is one of the best movies ever made.
The Dark Knight is one of the best movies ever made.
Ghostbusters is one of the best movies ever made.

There are good films and bad films, and that's really it, imo. Everything is cinema. To say that Taxi Driver is more "cinematic" than Joker, or Goodfellas is more "cinematic" than Jurassic Park, is just asinine to me.

I think most of the marvel films convey emotion, thoughts and ideas. It's mainly light entertainment, not melodrama, but that doesn't make it non cinematic.

Ok...I mean I can understand someone thinking this about superhero movies...because the vast majority of them are just popcorn flicks...doesn't make them "bad" but I can get why they're not taken very seriously.

There are shades though...You mentioned the Dark Knight, fair enough. I'm with that.
Batman 89, The Watchmen. The Boys series. 300. Sin City. Spider-Verse.
Some not just good, some fucking great.

But we also have "Ms Marvel", "The Phantom", Howard the Duck, STEEL, Spawn BVS and Superman 4 up there.
There is WAY more bad examples than good ones if you ask me...though I'm not about to dismiss the entire genre.

Scorsese was a fine director...but yknow...wouldn't have killed him to try something different for once in his life.

While I may question the taste of a person that ONLY watches popular films/popcorn flicks...or, perhaps not taste but unwillingness to branch out for their own experience...what it really comes down to is this;

A movie is a movie is a movie - the quality is subjective, and tastes are malleable dependent upon your mood at the time.
If you're someone that says otherwise, or will only watch movies and/or listen to music that makes them feel somehow superior or "of better taste", then you're a self important, pretentious fuckstick.

What's bizarre to me is that movies are one of the only mediums that don't celebrate their own art equally / let them all have a place at the table at awards ceremonies.

The Grammies include all music genres. Best Hip-Hop Artist, Best Country Album, Best Pop Video, etc. Why wouldn't the Oscars just have a category for each genre? Best Horror Film, Best Comedy Film, etc.

So I've watched several seasons of Masterchef US, Masterchef Australia and Masterchef Denmark, and one question comes to mind. Why are americans such backstabbing, slandering assholes?

Gonna look more like it should, and you don't forever need to have your dead animal/s on display.
You could just have a projection unit that could store until you turned it on to show images of your animal from any angle, or even the animal and yourself/others.
Images/dimensions to be stored on cloud service/s in the event of unit loss/breakage.

I feel like taxidermy is very yesterday. Nothing wrong with it but todays world tends to look at it as pretty archaic and "weird". Time for something new there.

There is this man who works at the hospital. I don't know what his job is, but he doesn't work in the part I work in. Every since I got there he has been annoying. One of my friends says he came in asking if I was married or had children(never 2 both questions.) Last week he told me he keeps candy in his office & he would like for me to come & talk to him & tell him about myself. Its kind of a joke at work how much I like candy, they call me Sandi candy. He then hugged me without my permission he just kinda did it. The next day I was going down the stairs & he was coming up them. He asked me to take my mask off so he could see the rest of my face. I felt annoyed but I pulled it down because I felt like it would get me out of there faster if I did. He makes my skin crawl. I've been told he is married & has children my age. Idk if I'm reading too much into it, or if he's just trying to be nice since I'm new. Thoughts?

Seriously ask yourself why you allowed him to hug you without admonishing him for doing it. And why you took down your mask when you didn't think it was appropriate.

I'm going to assume you really have no interest in him and you need to be more assertive. You're hurting both yourself and him by not setting boundaries. May I strongly suggest you take assertiveness training, which is very effective, or at least read the excellent training book, "Your Perfect Right".

To your immediate situation: in each situation, or any future one, take him aside privately (if possible, like a stairwell) and tell him his hugging you without permission was unwelcome, inappropriate and to never do it again. Say it in a professional manner. You and he knows HR is on your side. But if you don't tell him you're not interested (and telling him it's inappropriate will do that), he'll likely continue to pursue you.

Sorry, you did ask what we thought his intentions were. You'd have to go with your gut on that. I can't tell you if he was being friendly or hitting on you. The feeling I get from you is he's hitting on you. But I certainly agree with you, you shouldn't overreact either.
