I watched all the Saw movies because I've been sick for the past few days. I never realized how awesome Saw 6 is... it's definitely one of the best Saw sequels. I'd rank them 1, 2, 6, 3, 4, 5, 7. I used to say Saw III was the best, but after watching it again, there were way too many flashbacks.

I mean if yer gettin' outta bed everyday yer an optimist right?

This makes me think of a topic I considered starting. My parents and anyone who knows my love for horror thinks I'm a bad acid trip away from becoming a serial killer or something. But if anything, horror makes me realize that the world isn't as bad as it could be. Now watching something like 'Leave it to Beaver' and coming back to the real world. That shit is depressing. You compare the two and of the two, reality is terrifying.
Thus it's been my philosophy that; when you surround yourself in darkness, it's easier to see the light.

I didn't mind the first sequel..it was alright. Kind of lost its way a few times. Pass on P.3.

Sure, if you like the original's basic theme/story. Both sequels are creepy, and decent for Horror films (still P3 was poor for a general film).
They both are not anywhere close as good as the 82 original though (which is a masterpiece). They are more nightmarish, crude (not nasty, rather as in simple), lacking a subtle touch in family relationships and cinematic directing flare.
Both sequels are written and directed by different writers/directors than the original, so you can't expect the same thing.

They are both less realistic. Poltergeist 82 did a superior job at presenting a very realistic feel of the paranormal experience, along with everything happening making sense and having a reason. The sequels are more storybook, and present things that aren't always related to the plot or 'the paranormal reality', so to speak.
And personally, I didn't like either sequel, naturally compared to the original. The 2nd one had many entertaining aspects, & was definitely it's own story. The 3rd, I recall, as many do, as having annoying aspects. As I recall, spends a lot of time in a nightmarish realm. Fan's of Hellraiser & Elm St sequels might appreciate the style.

34 movies on my wish list... dammit I just can't seem to empty that list out fast enough.
I think I finally figured out The Others. It's not about ghosts or anything. It's about some crazy bitch mom and her kids in a creepy ass house. A third viewing allowed me to really get that. I think the problem was that I wanted it to be like The Innocents, which was actually about possessed kids and a ghost.

Watch what? I went back a page, but didn't see what you might be referring to.
By the way, not to sound "jaded", but presidents (especially 90's to today) are very much like Trump, hardcore businessmen.
I squashed the biggest Black Widow egg sack today....'bout the size of a grape ::shocked::.....It was hangin' in an abandoned Badger hole.... squashed the spider too.
Just curious... why would you kill a Black Widow (BW) & its egg sack in an animal's borrow?
I can tell you confidently, the BW was no real threat to any badgers... as the spiders don't hunt badgers (but a badger might eat the spider if it saw it), and even if the BW went "postal", it can't bite through that fur.
And if you were concerned the BW would make the journal to human' environments, I should note: No one in the U.S. has died from a black widow spider bite in over 10 years (per webMD.com). BWs aren't aggressive, they flee, like 95% of species. You'd pretty much have to physically squeeze a BW to get it to bite you, & then there's antidotes in most ERs -- most importantly venom is not likely to be life-threatening, antivenom has been used as pain relief and not to save lives.
Spiders kill deadly disease carrying mosquitoes, roaches flies (and clothes moths). Really, you're making humans less safe killing spiders. Spiders will rid houses of those pests, if left alone.
::wink::
Dead Bad Things

Zup Sculpt?
Black Widows are a native species here....They are only aggressive when defendin' an egg sack...They are very conspicuous and would be picked off by a bird quick, so they kick it on the d-low. Most times when I come across 'em they try ta camoflauge by bein' still or they quickly hide.
I'd say that I'm an armchair naturalist....Been cataloggin' the flowers and fauna here fer some time....I've observed that fer all livin' here, some years boom and some years lull....I love spiders.....let barn spiders winter over in the windows here...those little zebra jumpin' spiders are my Fav!
Black Widows are just not welcome so close to the house is all.
Just this Spring I saw my first juvenile B/W at this spot down by the river...They're all green and stripey. when they're young, the turn black and shiny when they mature..didn't kill that one.
It's not 'bout a badger gettin' hurt, It's the price and availabilty of anti-venom,as well as the sufferin'.
Ever see a B/W egg sack? It's a sickly yellow color and kinda papery not all webby like others. Besides the best way to get rid of a spider is just knock down their web and they'll move on.

They're slow movies. Not everyone likes them, and it gets a lot of hate from people who want constant scares or gore. If you're fine with a slow movie, definitely watch it. The build-up is worth it.

At least watch the first and try the rest. The long term story line lacks but I have found if you ignore the attempt to make connections between the films its a little easier to enjoy them each as stand alone films. I don't mind the slow speed, its just the constantly regurgitated jump scares that got to me. After the first handful I find myself anticipating the jump scares and then I catch them coming and it ruins it for me.

I have actually! Last Halloween one of my friends was hosting a 31 day horror fest, and he showed it on one of them. Absolutely LOVED IT (and not not only because it has werewolves in it! ::big grin::). Hence why I had to get it when I saw it in a dollar bin. So sad to put such a low price on such a good movie but I'm not complaining. ::smile::

Woah that's deep, bro. I find scratched off lotto tickets all the time when i'm cleaning buses at work. Never a winner in the lot. People feel free to take their greedy winnings and leave, but do they consider at least throwing the losing tickets away in the garbage bags provided to make life easier for us poorer folks cleaning up after their stupid asses? Nope. The floor's a good as place as any ::roll eyes::

The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that gay marriage is legal in every single state. ::cool::
Basically, yes. (I'm sure you already know this...) the Court can't make laws, but sets president that any challenge to a law barring gay marriage, or legal/commercial recognition of it, would win.

Most significant moment in homosexuality matters in the United States. Only thing bigger will be the eventual scientific discovery of the cause of non-heterosexual attraction, and later the cure, or otherwise prevention of the occurrence.

Say more, friend: is the promise here that we may "sculpt" the human mind to refrain from homosexual tendencies?
I have no idea if this is what Sculpt is saying but there is some merit to it. When you look at it from a scientific stand point, homosexuality is the opposite of what nature intends. Everything is designed to advance the species. Nature or God or whatever you believe in wouldn't purposefully design something that couldn't advance the species unless it was intended to be the end of something. So from a scientific standpoint, and remember that I am personally completely open to homosexuality and people who are, homosexuality is nature narrowing down a species or eliminating a unsatisfactory gene pool. It sounds terrible, and I know it does. But if you think about it strictly from a scientific standpoint, why else would nature create a creature or person that will not procreate except to eliminate something in that creature before it spreads, whether it be an unknown super virus or disease or whatever else you can think of.
I understand that this may offend some people, it isn't meant to, I just find it intriguing to think about why someone would be created without the want or drive to procreate. I apologize if it does, it wasn't meant that way.

Fascinating stuff, Jake. It seems though, with advancements such as surrogate pregnancies and the like, that homosexuals have made an end-run around such species-exterminating copulations.

It would have been sad if I was created normal, but because my brain is different due to my Asperger's diagnosis at sixteen, I'm not missing out on anything.
Anyway, from those around me in relationships, all they ever do is break up, become unsatisfied or argue over money. Why would I want any of that?!
Also, why would I want to have a relationship and trap the woman who becomes my partner? Why would I want to trap myself?

I completely agree that love is love. It doesn't last forever though. What intrigues me is how it happens. There has got to be something to explain why our basic needs to procreate and grow the species is suddenly overwhelmed by a much less important instinct called love.

I theorize that nature is fighting back with homosexuality. The world is over populated and getting more and more so by the minute, so mother nature provides an untraceable pheromone of sorts that is airborne and effects the brain chemistry of basic needs of desire and reproduction. And you can't reproduce as rapidly if you're interested in the same sex. This could possibly pull in the reins of human over population and pollution to a slow enough pace for nature to catch up, and to eventually achieve global conquest for plants.
Sounds crazy doesn't it? So is every theory or even the act of trying to theorize on homosexuality.

There's also a popular saying in life:
If you love someone, you'd set them free.
I'm so in love with my other half, and I wish her all the happiness in the world, learning about herself and why she's here.
Its harder to learn about ones self if you're too busy learning about the other person.

Quite enjoyable. The people who they interview who have actually eaten or at least tried human flesh are very open to it. They seem very prideful and almost find it humorous to be asked about eating the meat. Like 'yeah we eat people, don't you?'
I like the 'viewer discretion' warning between commercials. 'Contains nudity that some may find offensive'. Really. THAT'S what you're focused on? Not the butchering? XD

IKR - that is funny, the viewer warning neglects the human cannibalism...
But then again, that issue is explicit in the tittle, where one wouldnt assume nudity.
You wrote, "The people who they interview who have actually eaten or at least tried human flesh are very open to it.", you mean theyre very open to eating people, or talking about it?
So did the doc answer thee question? Why did they decide to eat human flesh?
I hope the doc doesnt accept 'curiosity', which doesnt really answer it... I mean, unless theyve tried eating EVERYTHING out of curiosity, theres a reason human flesh was chosen.

There wasn't really any nudity in it though. Just some topless ladies in only about one scene. The tribes interviewed were from the Rainforest, like in a National Geographic. It's easy to assume there's the chance of a naked boob or two.
Open to talking about it. But the way they talked about it they were probably open to trying it themselves. It's an old practice that only the eldest in the village have actually tried.
Lol, the question was a joke. They didn't actually ask him that. They butchered and cooked a pig, but no people. I was actually a bit disappointed.
The villagers weren't as savage as one might assume when you hear 'cannibals'. They only killed and ate people as revenge or if they were a ''magic man'' (their form of witch trials, kill and eat the witch). After Christianity was introduced by the white man, the practice of cannibalism is all but dead, save for those who have had the experience of tasting human flesh (which they describe as being similar to pig, no surprise).
I am curious to see if the guy who was doing all the interviewing would have tried human meat if he had been given the chance. Like if they had killed an enemy instead of a pig to serve for their welcome feast.
In the long run it was a very educational little film. I was reminded yet again to not judge a book by its cover. Or more accurately, a village by it's reputation. It's on Netflix if interested.

No problem at all 8)
Now that'd be an interesting documentary!
I have no reason to doubt you. The cannibals are so charming though, it was easy for me to get sucked in

Mmmmm day off from workkkk. What to do what to do... I have new (well, pre-owned and I already seen them before I got them) VHS tapes to watch. Some recorded films I never got around to. Shows to catch up on. A list a mile long on Netflix to get through... Ever have so much to do you just kind of freeze up and don't do anything. ::sad::

Can't argue that! In the end I did cop out for a horror movie from Netflix. If anything to whittle down my list a bit more (although for each one I take off I seem to add another 5).
About time to settle down for the night now with a good book. ...Or at least I'm hoping it will be good. I had high expectations for Wolf's Trap.

What's a blue moon? Absolutely nothing. Doesn't even involve the moon being blue (was very disappointed when I learned that for blue's my favorite color).
It's just two full moons within the same calendar month.
