Blimey all that effort for a film 2 men and their dog liked.
Never could see the fascination with "Dune" myself, and it seems Lynch can't really stand it in either version.

In fact the extended TV cut, that should have righted some of the wrongs of the Theatrical edit, he likes even less!

Damn it...if they're making the effort for turkey's like this...where's "The Love Butcher" Ultimate Edition! :)

Session 9 was very muted and real, which made the whole thing pretty tense. I enjoyed the film. I found myself hoping the guy's family would somehow get away.

I kinda wish Anderson delved more into the physical manifestations that could have cemented the terror. The empty wheelchair, the large and empty rooms.

I think that's a dvd worth picking up...

Has anyone picked up Spider yet?

I can tell you that the battle scenes were excellent though. Especially the first one. Blood and guts are a many, a helluva lot of oooooooh's and aaaaaaaaaaah's, and a nice amount of action each. Do bad there's big gaps between them. But they're worth the rental alone.

THE APPLE.....is so amazingly bizarre and awful that it is great entertainment. Every time I have watched it, at some point I have run screaming out of the room. Not exaggerating here, I'm sorry to say. This film is actually weird to the point of being kind of scary. Now that I can see it in widescreen, it's even scarier, with 50% more fiendish visions on display.

Demonia is not one of Fulci`s best films, but if you like to see zombie like nuns you are going to like it.
Zombie Holocaust is pretty great, love the gore
Chopping mall is classick 80`s horror. I like it

Anyway, heres what I got:

Bought-

Alice Cooper's Welcome to my Nightmare DVD
House of Wax [1933 + 1953 on one DVD]

"Borrowed"-

Romeo Must Die
My Dog Skip
Dirty Dancing [Utimate Edition]
1 DVD- 4 episodes of Dragnet and 4 episodes of Sherlock Holmes
"Great" John Wayne Movies [1 DVD] :
-Lawless Frontier
-Hell Town
-Sagebrush Trail

Hey, they arent all great, I know. But I was so close to filling that thing, I was going for quantity over quality. Cant wait to start biulding my new one...gonna be wood, bout 5 and a half feet high. Im making 2, they'll each hold around 150 DVDs, so that should keep my busy for awhile [I have around 110-120 now]

Just picked up Sin City. I was gonna wait for the extended edition [Rodriguez and Miller shot every last scene of the comics, and supposedly the cmplete version's coming out around Christmas] but if I got that, it's just be another kickass movie that's way to long to ever actually watch [IE- Godfather, It]

BTW, I got the Marv-Goldie/Wendy cover.

It's a cheap documentary from the late 80's...an old tape...features interviews with a lot of the NOTLD people, Sam Sherman, Bobbie Bresee, Linnea Quigley, Forry Ackerman...all hosted by James Karen. If you can find it cheap, I recommend it.

We USED to have drive-ins all over the place here in California in the distant past. They're pretty much all gone now except for one or two. I miss it :(

I have not seen the sequel (should I?) but I thought the first movie was prime exploitation. Very well made crap.

Aside from it being very competently executed--by people who knew and understood exactly what they were making--I enjoyed the whole "Eric Stoltz was too expensive to be present throughout the movie so they rewrote the script with his character being bit by the poisonous bug and going into a fever so they could film most of his scenes on one set with him unconscious" thing. I don't know for certain that that's what happened, but it suuuuuuure seems that way.

"No, you don't have enough to keep me on for six weeks. But I'll tell ya what, if you rewrite the script so I get bitten by a bug or something, then we can do it in a week and a half for that same wad of cash. That way we both win, and I can take a couple of trips to the Bahamas! What do you say, guys? I'll wake up at the end of the movie and stab the big snake, and everyone will forget that I was hardly in the movie at all!"

Yep, mint original packaging too..... it was quite a nice stash of stuff. I was really happy with Maniac and Mother's Day cause they were pulled from the shelves over here years ago because of the "Video Nasty" dramas..... almost impossible to find on VHS over here.

Now personally I liked TEENAGERS FROM OUTER SPACE a lot! It is surprisingly entertaining for a budgety movie that was written up for years as a dog. Me and my dad LOVE Pink Panther, thinking about going halfers on that set. Cant wait:D I havnt seen them all, but Shot in the Dark is my favourite thusfar.

BTW- Have you seen the trailers for the remake? If so, was "Worst Casting Ever" a phrase that popped into your head? Steve Martin, man? Whoever came up with that should be fired, but first forced to watch EVERY PP movie starring Sellers, followed by Bringing Down the House and Cheaper by the Dozen. If that doesnt make him regret this travesty....he is a truly evil man.

Oh, God, yah. I almost commited suicide when I found out a) they were remaking the Pink Panther and b) Steve MArtin was Clouseau and c) he didn't even bother turning his hair brown, he left it white, so he looks like mister magoo.

"Jaws" 30th Anniversary Edition DVD

I forget if I mentioned this but I got it a couple of weeks ago. I recommend it partially because the new transfer of the film is very crisp and bright, and partially because there is some amazing underwater footage of the mechanical shark in MGM's Esther Williams tank (where certain moments of Hooper's "descent in the cage" were photographed).

One thing I did not know was that Dick Warlock was the primary stuntman for the MGM tank shoot. His interview in the documentary is very illuminating, and in fact, he also had the foresight to take his own underwater camera into the tank to get home movies, and it is his footage that shows the shark puppet being tested. As far as I know, this is the first time this footage has been made available. It is absolutely spellbinding.

I totally love Shriek Show's "Zombie" DVD. It's completely insane, like a whole reference source on the film, with tons of documentary stuff. A popular horror film, to be sure, but still an unlikely candidate for such an immersive package; it's a great joy that they did it, partially I think because it is so unlikely. Really fun. It was on sale for $11.99 when I bought it. It was cheaper than the less-equipped version on the other label!
