Well, if you're familiar with the book or the movie versions...forget them for a sec. Our director adapted the script herself [She always does, they're always great], and put a few twists on it [Wonderland is a giant mall]
Anyway, Im The King of Hearts. Well, they just call me "The King",considering my character is an Elvis impersonation...I love it:cool:

From what I've watched so far, it's Ric talking about the feud, then they show the match (entire match). And the matches completely own your face, and the picture is REALLY good, especially considering some of the matches are over 20 years old

Hi urgeok, I'm I,Zombie and i haven't bought a movie in 2 weeks. it was army of darkness.
i have been moved from a city where i lost my movie collection to bumfuck NY where the video store sucks. in rehab i bitched about movies and how i caan't go to the video store and get anything good. no one has even heard of the six string samurai. i wish i coul dhave the simple view of movies that everyone else has, maybe then i would find adam sandler movies funny.
i now buy magic cards again instead of movies. the other day i traded a parallax tide ($2) to a kid for an Underworld dreams (legends, $45). i call that an acquistition and a half.

the extras are similar/same as the normal version, maybe a couple of other bits n bobs. The new DTS audio track was the main clincher, plus I've not got it on DVD yet, payed a bit more for the nice packaging.
no doubt it will after Batman.
I think people should see the Machinist. The quality of his acting is oscar nomination material...this film will deffo become more well known and popular after Batman.

The Fly II is underrated - directed by FX expert Chris Walas (he did the work on the Cronenberg film), it doesn't quite have the punch of the original but is a smashing horror film in its own right - great gore, and a tragic mutated dog that made me weep.

Whats Infernal Affairs like? I haven't seen Citizen Kane for years - studying it in Film put me off watching it ever again. I prefer Touch Of Evil I think that's my favorite Orson Wells film.

"A Fistful of Dollars" - S.E
"For A Few Dollars More"...S.E
VERY nice looking? YES.
Lots of nice extras? YES.
Complete? NO IT'S NOT!!!
Anyone who knows this film will know that the old MGM DVD (and the TV prints that followed) was missing an entire sequence at the end of the beating.
Indio's face starts to drop and he then calls off the beating, has Van Cleef and Eastwood taken away and calls his men over to discuss the plans.
This was ALWAYS in the film in ALL the old TV screenings and in ALL the old VHS releases.
yet the previous MGM DVD simply jumped from Indio's face starting to drop to him in the middle of the conversation with his men.
Even if you don't know the film there is a VERY obvious jump and it all makes no sense as one second they are in the middle of beating the Eastwood and Van Cleef up the next they are on their own in the middle of a conversation in a differnet location.
And the new DVD...is exactly the same!
The same missing footage, the same bad jump!
And this even has the balls to have a featurrete on the film's restoration!
I don't call a scene, that was always in the film until recently, missing from the film a 'restoration' of anything!
very nice print otherwise...but this is still really annoying.

Send it all over to me then!!! I still really like VHS maybe just for sentimental value..... (I think its just about will be fazed out over here by the end of the year) I prefer the versions of a lot of horror movies that are over here on VHS compared to DVD (especially because if its on DVD we get the heavily edited UK versions) sometimes DVD is just that little bit too slick. I think I'm gonna be one of the last people to get into DVD. I keep putting off getting a player but its about time I got one. I also like how I can get 10 really rare movies on VHS for about half the price of a DVD.

i was the absolute last guy i knew to have a CD player.. i love vinyl, always will ...
buy the tape medium is just too nasty. I wont get rid of tapes that i havent replaced but damn .. its hard to go back and watch them..
they are dying with age. (especially the old rare ones)
i was just watching a beta tonight ... and even it looked like crap compared to the DVD. Thats one slickness i'm willing to buy into .. plus i love commentaries .. cant get that on a tape ..
Elvis_Christ
04-28-2005, 05:58 PM
Tapes are a bit more durable in some respects at least when a video gets damaged its just a line DVDs jump all round the place and miss entire scenes. Those Beta tapes must be fucking ancient!! Its really cool you still have stuff like that I'd scarifice some body parts for shit like that.
urgeok
04-28-2005, 06:01 PM
the thing is - that even though i take mint care of my stuff .. tapes begin to 'erode' naturally.
you see it on either ends of the reel first then it works inward .. oxidization .. stretching, etc ..
if you take care of a DVD it'll last longer than our grandchildren ..
Elvis_Christ
04-28-2005, 06:12 PM
Could that be solved by regular cleaning of the tapes in those machines the video stores have? I guess streaching can't be helped tho. Yeh I've started to take better care of my film collection I don't lend anything these days cause I'm real sick of people stealing/losing shit..... The Wicker Man - wasn't what I was expecting, but was very good. In Extras there's a half hour segment that has interviews with the various people that were involved in the movie (Christopher Lee, Ingrid Pitt, the director and various others) that was very interesting.
OK, so I put this in the wrong place. Coffee hasn't kicked in yet. It should be in Last Seen Movie. Don't feel like typing it all over again.

His would've been the first station I would've gotten to if I'd parked at the north end like I always do and I would've had an extra $50 to go retarded with but by the time I got to him I had already bought what I originally went there for.

I had to ask him twice because I thought I was hearing things when he said everything was a dollar.
I think with what he was charging he might be cleaned out by now and I'm not sure I want to take the hour drive to find out he's gone.

yeah ..funny story to that ..
at my 'junk store' i found a Land of the Lost tape with a couple of episodes on it. I picked it up because there was a dinosaur looking thingy on it and my kid really likes dinosaurs (its actually an obsession)
so it turnes out the tape is the NEW Land of the Lost with Tomothy Bottoms - but i didnt know that.
Then one day i see a land of the lost DVD boxset - season 1
and pick it up because he liked the tape ... completely different !
horrible production values .. terrible acting ... but my kid REALLY liked it .. these were the origional series.
So now i have all 3 boxsets .. and hopefully they'll put out the New Land of the Lost eventually.

Dvd store here had a bin of movies, 3 for $24. Unfortunatly, they only had three that sounded like they were worth getting:
Assault on Precinct 13 [Original]
Dreamscape
DNA
Im right excited to watch "Assault", Dreamscape sounds damn good too.....and DNA sounds like a cheap Predator knockoff, but still could be decent in some way or another...

Ray Harryhausen Classic Monsters Collection. Yippee!! I'm gonna watch "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger"! I haven't seen it in fifteen years! It's not the best Harryhausen film but I don't care. I saw it in the theatres when I was a kid, and that means it's good stuff.

Tony Jaa does all his own stunts and fight scenes, some are very... or what you'd say..."holy shit!!" when you see them.
and as the film tag line says...."No stunt doubles, no computer images, no computer graphics, no strings attached"
Jaa's techniques and style have past what Chan could do...he's been in comparisons to Bruce Lee.
