i have a book - possibly by John McCarthy - that credits the Wild bunch with being the 1st splatter movie.

the 1st (american?) film to actually show people being hit with bullets - and the bullets actually doing damage..

Yeah it was all very controversial when it came out. I was just a very little kid and I can still remember the uproar. The last battle is a very bloody massacre.
Splatter movie ehh? not quite but I can see someone saying that. And yeah it's an American film about American outlaws trying to out run justice and new technology by running to Mexico.

re. Dusk Til Dawn ... people either love it or hate it ..
i love it. (my wife hates it)

I don't think I've struck a lot of people that hated it. George Clooney is awesome in it. I was quite suprised at the time because I'd only seen him in ER and a couple of forgetable action flicks. I've enjoyed most things he's been in since.

The Wild Bunch was pretty bloodthirsty for Westerns of the time. Tame by todays standards of course but I bet there would've been a bunch of cats that loved it for the splatter back then!

Blood Feast would've turned a few heads too I imagine :D

NICE! been wantin that for a while.

as for the Wild Bunch, think it was because it was one of the first movies to show killing in slow mo. although i guess bonnie and clyde did that first, i think... wild bunch is fucking kick ass tho, i havent seen it in years.

george clooney was the pure essence of cool in that flick ..
he was wicked..

a lot of people i've talked to that hate it - didnt like the twist from crime thriller to horror ..

(which is one of the things i loved about it.)

you want to see another movie that has a radical twist 1/2 way through - try to get your hands on a copy of Miracle Mile.

I love that too, and I, too, have found that most people don't. Most like to sit down and be comfortable with a solid genre flick, whereas this is more a double genre movie, Like Dead Alive (Braindead) or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. These kind of multi-talented films have more potential for unique quality.

It's sad that more people can't dig that, but to each his own. I think it is a movie to be seen twice, though, whether you enjoyed the first viewing or not.

.

him and of course Tom Savini. I was totally stoked to see him play as big of a part as he did. It always feels great to point at a guy while your watching with friends and say "I have that dudes autograph!"

the kid i was sitting next to hated the twist "that just ruined the movie" he said. personally, i thought it couldnt get any better.

You should see wolf...its dark in parts, sad in others, and will have you laughing out loud at moments too...Nicholson, as always, makes the film...a slight deviation from most of his roles, he pulls it off pretty well (I watched a bit last night), and it's a thoroughly entertaining film.
It's nothing AMAZING, but a pretty cool modern take on the "wolfman" kind've deal. Not a werewolf film as such.

Fuck Ebay

A couple months ago I ordered 4 movies off Ebay. The payment went through on Halloween. I wait. Nothing. So we open a dispute through Paypal, and they guy sends us an automated message that the movies were sent and they'd be here within X amount of business days. Awesome. Well after X amount of days...still nothing. We elevate the status of the claim.

Package comes in the mail today. I open it it: 3 of the movies that I ordered:

- Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Remake)
- Jason Goes to Hell
- Jason X

Wes Craven's New Nightmare is nowhere to be found, and even though it was advertised as being "factory sealed", Jason X didnt even have so much as cellophane. Im glad to have the ones that managed to get here, but Im pretty damn pissed that I paid for a movie that I have no chance of ever recieving:mad:

Your only real option here if ebay won't step in themselves, is to leave really fucked up, rotten feedback, and hopefully the next "you" won't be in the same situation. I know this probably sounds stupid, but if you're having problems, try ebay.com.au - it's the same site essentially, but deals with australian sellers and retailers, as well as the rest of them. All the aussie e-shops, and the asian ones (they're closer to here, so more come up) have been pretty reliable.

There is something warm and wonderful about watching horror movies for Christmas. A friend of mine is in Illinois visiting his family, and they make it a tradition to watch scary stuff. I'm quite certain they are in the basement watching something really warped right now!

Badass. I need that.

the robot is about 3 - 4 inches tall - lots of detail.

the best feature on the disc is a second movie "the invisible boy"
and a TV episode of The Thin Man which features the robot.

Donnie darko is amazing, but I suggest if you havent already to get the original version, of donnie darko along with the directors cut. The directors cut ads 20 minutes that explain the movie a lot more than the original did, which can be good, but if your like me and you like to figure stuff out from movies on your own then you should pick up the original version. Half the fun of donnie darko is watching it a couple dozen times and still not understanding stuff in it

i'm actually pretty handy and careful .. i prepare well. ... but no matter what - stupid unforseeable crap happens .. things seize - parts are obsolete, or not standard ..etc .. very frustrating.

one cool thing came out of it .. when i was at the checkout of the Home Depot .. there were a couple of wicked deals on sale - i cought them both.

one is a 4 piece tool set by winchester.
comes in a wooden box .. has a small flashlight, a 'swiss army knife'
a locking blade jacknife, and one of those folding pliers with knives and screwdrivers folded away in the handle.

really nice finish on the knives .. the set was $7 !!
thinking of going back for a couple more.

also got a 126 piece set by black and decker .. all kinds of drill bits (hole, wood, ceramic, regular), screw drivers, screw driver heads, a ton of stuff .. and not the cheap crap either... it was $30 ..

Got me a $30 Best Buy gift card from my sister in law for christmas, so i got me Edward Scissor hands for $7(Widescreen anniversary edition), Sleepy Hollow (Widescreen) $9, and Team America: World Police for $9, so still have enough for probably most of another movie :)

Unbelievable. It's a spectacular film filled with stylish set pieces, plentiful gore, and giallo trademark to the max.

And after watching this, a big chunk of Saw's "originality" will be lost. You'll see what I mean.

2.5 months ... man how sad is that.

Obviously they have somebody else in charge of the 3rd's DVD release. With one and two they released a bare bones edition after the theater run and then before the next film came out (less than a month with both I think) the unrated editions came out.
