rolling thunder (BD)

Nice. I forgot this was getting released. About time! The UK release looks great I like how they used the original artwork. Pity about the lame ass Eli Roth/Tarantino quote on the front... sick of studios putting that on covers.

I wonder if The Park Is Mine will see a release now too?

yea i love Dario Argento's films. i've seen 'opera' before, and saw it and got it. i've actually been lucky and found the few of his films i own right now at a good price. i only have 'opera', 'suspiria' and 'do you like Hitchcock' funny thing is when i got 'suspiria' the 1 disk version was about 12 bucks, and the 2 disk version was about 8. so i got the 2 disk version. :)

Well the problem with the uncut DVD is that it was pretty much unofficial, so sales from that disc only hurt the chances of a restored unedited cut, and the transfer is pretty bad. The BFI disc looks amazing and it has a lot of special features. New commentary with Russell, Mark Kermode (of course), and a few other people. The "Hell on Earth" documentary about the film is also included, although Warner Bros. forced them to cut out the unlicensed scenes from that as well. It's a great package, and definitely worth the buy, edited scenes notwithstanding. It's total cowardice what Warner Bros. is doing, but hopefully the excellent sales of this disc will get them drooling enough to license the rest of the film and ignore whatever bullshit "moral convictions" they have about it.

last horror film i picked up was The Dead on Bluray. nothin special about the bluray as far as i'm concerned. movie was good though. 3.5/5
last movie in general i grabbed was suckerpunch from the bluray discount bin at walmart. haven't checked out the special features yet, but the movie was definitely* 5/5. i guess there are some anime featurettes leading up to different segments of the movie, which sound cool. gotta check it out when i get time off.

*i was pretty high the two times i've seen this movie and don't remember anything but the fact that i enjoyed it, so i assume it was good.

Nope but I hear that it is pretty gruesome and you get a shot of Ursula Andress nude, not a bad way to spend a Saturday night.

I have that on VHS.

I couldn't get the picture to upload, it was quite possibly the size.

but I recently acquired..

Eraserhead - Import
Hellraiser 1-3 Steelbook
Guinea Pig collection- XT metal case (POS, the glue melted and seperated from the box)
Kill List
Demons 2- XT steelbook, I already have part 1 and the Arrow releases of both
Ilsa collection-XT steelbook
and finally...
Melancholie der Engel, which I've been wanting to see, and although I knew it had no subs prior to ordering it's been difficult to get myself to actually sit and watch it.

I got a few new Blu-Ray's today.

Jaws (Can't wait to watch it in Hi-Def)
Sixteen Candles (I'm a child of the 80's...I can't help but still love the brat pack movies)

And...um *Cough* Ti *Cough* Titanic *Cough* :o

What can say...I still think seeing the ship sink was impressive. I also saw it in the theater with the first girl I ever really loved and it reminds me of her.

Mostly from the 60s and 70s, the only recognizable star (to me at least) being Cameron Mitchell. All used videos (dvd and vhs) are 50% off this weekend at the local music/video store which means this only cost me $3.50. The trick with flicks like these is not to judge them on their entirety but on their component parts. They can be hit and miss and the best one can do is hope the good parts outweigh the bad.

Yeah, here in Indianapolis I have five Disc Replay stores where I can find movies for $3-$10, four Half Priced Books where I can find them for $3-$8, and a couple of mom and pop used bookstores for $4-$10. Then there is The Little Shop of Horrors, which I don't frequent too often due to the jacked up prices, where I can find just about anything I'm looking for. Truth is though that between the Disc Replays and the Half Priced Book stores I come across tons of hard to find horror films.

Date of delivery quoted is 26th of this month. Let's see if they are disciplined enough. If yes, I might order a few more expensive stuff, including B-RDs.

finally snagged Dogtooth on DVD, as it was also on sale.

Fantastic film.

Amazon's newly-opened Indian site has been bringing out some wonderful promotional deals in recent times.

For e.g., The James Cameron Collection was available for as low as Rs. 327/- (that's less than $1.80 per DVD) a few days back. Delivery was free.

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51-lQ3FLF7L._SL500_AA300_.jpg

I bought it in the first week of August and it got delivered on 7th Aug. It's a Region 3 box set, containing the full extended, special edition versions of all 3 films. Since my original DVDs were getting old, now was the best time to replace them.

And I am glad I did when I did. The price's gone up again - http://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B005VE0TW4/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The site's still in it's infancy though. Against ebay.in and flipkart.com, it's lagging far behind. I am eagerly awaiting the Kino/Criterion releases.

Just now found and joined this site. I'm relatively new to the horror scene aside from the 'staples' and 'cliches'.

I recently replaced my copy (that was stolen) of Carrie (original) for $5, which was a great deal, also picked up Friday the 13th: The Complete Collection, Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak On a Plane (a nifty flick I caught on TV Saturday), and the original I Spit On Your Grave, yeah, my local 'big box' stores don't carry much, and Hastings was closed yesterday for repairs to the ceiling/roof (bad storms).

Anyone have any suggestions for a guy who's barely got his feet wet?

Note: No need to be timid, anything is okay, :)

Shutter (2004), A Tale of Two Sisters (2003), Rec (2007), The Orphanage (2007), Battle Royale (2000) are some good foreign language horror films. I actually consider the first two to be two of the scariest films I have ever seen.

Lucio Fulci is really good if you like surrealist non-linear Italian stuff. I really enjoy his films. Some good ones are Zombie 2, The Beyond (my personal favorite so far), House by the Cematary. I heard City of the Living Dead was good.

Some good B-Movies include Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988), Croczilla (Okay not really good, but it's stupidely hilarious), Grindhouse (it is made line two B-movies and is quite excellent, my favorite of the two films is Death Proof), Rumpelstiltskin (1990s film) (not a masterpiece, but I liked it) and The Cat People (1942).

Some good slashers, Sleepaway Camp (1983), Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) (one of my favorite slashers), April Fool's Day (1986), Prom Night (1980)

Psychological Thrillers- The Ugly, Cube, Jacobs Ladder (1990), Peeping Tom (1960).

Vampires- From Dusk Till Dawn, Near Dark, Interview with the Vampire

Werewolfs- Ginger Snaps, The Howling (my favorite werewolf movie)

Supernatural- The Haunting (1963) (surprisingly scary despite age), Rosemary's Baby (1968), House of Usher (1960) (this film also creeped me out), The Devil Inside (2012)(alot of people hate it, but I really enjoyed it), Wishmaster (1997), The Guardian (1990)

Hopefully, I was able to reccomend some films you have not seen.

A local video store had all horror and Halloween themed movies set at 50% off until closing on Sunday, had only $10 and no card so I came home with House of 1,000 Corpses, Queen of the Damned, and The Shining.

That was all they had left that I both didn't own and liked enough, though that isn't saying much since it wasn't a large selection to begin with, but hey I did good for $10 I think, :p

Also got the Project UFO TV series for the two seasosn, 32 episodes in all.

Yea i'm a fan. I love the flick, and had the book at some point.

Phase IV IMO is an acquired taste that will intrigue some - while probably boring many others. It's a very odd movie, and very character driven and doesn't rely on gratutious action or jump scares to deliver the goods. First seen it when I was a bit younger, and the ending stuck with me for quite awhile

Fans more geared in the direction of cerebral horror/sci-fi like I happen to be will probably appreciate flicks like this the most, and should grab a viewing at the very least. The 70's put out some of the best horror and sci-fi ever done.

Looks like a slow burner and I'm cool with that, as long as its as visually impressive as it looks from the trailer.

more buys:
Video Violence 1 & 2
Uzumaki
Sledge Hammer

It is.

Of course I watched it at a much younger age the first time, and we all know how that alone can alter one's perspective on things so i'm not sure how i'd feel about it if I was to see it for the first time today. Hope you like it.

Warbus was pretty solid from memory. Tiger Joe should be killer too... heard good things plus it's got David Warbeck in it.

A few people I've talked to feel that way. I can definitely see why. For me they were just a captivating train wreck.

it's interesting - and i'm mildly curious to see how it wraps up - but 8 seasons - god I don't know if I can make it.

I guess I really need someone I can identify with to enjoy a movie or series to the fullest..

The characters might grow on you. I thought Jonathan Banks and Giancarlo Esposito were great in it. Season 4 was one of the best pieces of TV I've seen... great finale but yeah it is hard to get into a series if you can't stand the characters.

What is going on in the one on the left. ::big grin:: The kind of film that used to be an impulse rent when we still had video rental stores...
