"Accion Mutante" was a real funny film(best part the first 45 minutes), but I still think that the best film of Alex De la Iglesia was "EL dia de la bestia" with a great ost too.

CD Plus has it for around $50:eek:
I try to make a day trip down to the states as often as possible (twice a year or so, haha), and always make sure to hit Best Buy and Borders. One of the last times I was down I grabbed the Mexico Trilogy boxset for $15 US - it runs around $45 CDN:rolleyes:

Amen for that, here I find on small dvd store the special edition of Se7en (region one two disc) for 40 Euros.....and it hasn't subtitles on spanish. And now we've got a Region two special edition of sScape from NY, just one disc without any other extra material than a fuckin' trailer and audio comentaries from Carpenter. The receipt showed 9.99 with a 9.99 discount, so I guess it might have had something to do with the Rewards card, maybe? I didn't notice until we had left.
I've got to go back, they also had The Philadelphia Story - 2 disc Special Edition and Million Dollar Baby - 3 disc Ultimate Edition that I wanted, but they were out (all for $9.99).

Here's a note about the discount errors at BestBuy. It's either an error they haven't caught, or an unadvertised BOGO (buy 1 get 1 free). If you buy two of ANY 9.99$ DVDs they have on sale, one rings up free. It works at most BestBuys, so try it out at your location. Great deals.

I'm always on the lookout for a bargain, and I also like gambling a little on some cheap-ass horror flick I haven't seen. Today's finds were Bill Castle's MR. SARDONICUS ($2) and ZOMBIEZ ($1.20).
Sardonicus I haven't seen in fifteen years, but I like most of Castle's stuff. This was also a full-on DVD with extras, so good for the price.
Zombiez I just watched, and you know...I don't want to praise it more than it deserves, because that would be wrong. However, they did "keep it moving" for most of its running time, and I've seen many cheeseball digital features do A LOT worse. It's been trashed by a lot of people, perhaps to a degree deservedly. But I have to give it points for keeping a momentum going. And at a buck twenty, I certainly feel I got my money's worth!

That sucks about Godzilla vs Megalon. That's a hard film to find, and Godzilla vs. Mothra is a good movie but you can get it all over the place.
I have heard that Intercessor: Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare 2 REALLY SUCKS and it's not a "good bad" movie but just a "boring as hell" movie. But this is not surprising because the first one was made in the 80's and the second one was made recently, by a totally different group of people. I actually have no interest in seeing that one.
People who have seen the first "Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare" KNOW that what happens in the final scene couldn't be duplicated or redone. That kind of lightning cannot be captured in a bottle. The first film is probably the finest motion picture ever made, by anyone.

It would never be the same.:p
Still, it would be funny to check it out just for a puffy middle aged John Mikl Thor.
The Mummy and The Mummy Returns are good for what they are, which is mindless entertainment. I don't like to have to think about EVERYTHING I watch too much.....and honestly, I have so many movies I'm happy to pick up things I don't have, even if they're not the best in cinema.

I love Jaws 2, well, everyone knows that. I talk about that all the time. I paid I think 4 dollars for mine and I have watched it several times. It's almost like the cheaper, cheesier exploitation-driven version of the first story...doesn't make a lot of sense but there's lots of shark action, and the shark stuff is really pretty good.
I'm a sucker for shark movies, though.

I don't think the uncut My Bloody Valentine will ever see the light of day. Those scenes have probably rotted in that Paramount vault by now.

no, never even heard of them. internet sites are my source. with this movie i had to buy stateside. usually i don't pay any more per dvd than the price of a couple of rentals at my local video shop. this was an acceptable exception due to its reputation and the scarceness of copies

Its Criterion from last year, and is the Director's Cut version. No 4 discs though, single one dual-layered. I didnt see any 4-disc version of Brazil at the store.
@ paws, nope not yet. But I ve been meaning to cuz BR mentioned it in one of her other threads. Going by the stats it should be a good watch, cuz part 1 was awesome, pt 2 sucked, pt 3 was decent, pt 4: Necropolis sucked...ergo pt 5 should be decent.
