I can say with almost 95% guarantee that i'll be playing "Silent Hill: Downpour" tomorrow.
At what time all depends on the hangovers.
But i got all things lined up for the event. Pizza, snacks and beer. So... see ya in half a week!! :D
I'm sorry. I can assure you I will not be risky with my money when it comes to that. lol.
I am actually biting my tongue trying to play through 4. I just went through 1 - 3 and before try and suffer through Origins, I am attempting to try an enjoyable playthrough of 4. So far, not as enjoyable as I want it to be. Although, it is my own fault, I knew what I was getting into. lol

What was 4 called?
Silent Hill 4: The Room. It was the last installment from the original developers (Team Silent) and at the time was the worse one. It was way more combat and action based which made it feel like a different game at times. It has first person elements when in your apartment. It is enjoyable at times, but very annoying most of the time (in my opinion). It's worth sitting through, because a lot consider it to have one of the best stories (which I also do not fully agree with). After 4 they started being developed by Konami America and from there just went down hill. Although, I would say that even Origins feels more like a Silent Hill game than 4.

Yea, i didn't like that one. Never got through it.
The next one tho (Homecoming) is without a doubt my favorite. So far.
The movements especially in combat has really been updated. Something i've been waiting for in a loooong time.

I've found a really good easter beer. It's a little stronger than a normal beer but is nicely sweet.
Funny thing is i've absolutely no idea who's made it. It just says easter beer on the label. That's it. Really odd...

See, that's one of the biggest things I hated about Homecoming. It turned in into a 3rd person shooter (esk) gameplay. Of course the American team has to completely westernize the game and that is one of the biggest things that made the others terrifying. Granted, that original control set up I don't feel was perfected until 3, it actually made some sense. Silent Hill is not Gears of War. Just like Gears of War would be crap with Silent Hill controls. The original Silent Hill games, as you probably know, dealt with protagonists that were everyday joes. So awkward movement and combat makes sense. These characters were not Navi Seals, so the fact that they cannot properly use a knife, not only makes sense, but makes the survival horror aspect that much more horrifying. Homecoming upset me not only for that reason, but because the character was just as much of a badass as the enemies you are fighting and when that happens there is no longer a threatening, uncomfortable feeling. It says something when the only weapon I used most of the game was the starter knife, because it turns him into Ryu Hayabusa lol.
Sorry for the rant. I am very passionate about Silent Hill. I hope you don't say anything about the creatures. <.<...... >.>......
Also, I would love to talk about beer with you guys as well. Is there a beer thread? lol

I guess i'm the only one who really dug homecoming?? :(
I don't really have anything negative to say about it, except that the blackouts might've been a cheap way to switch between sceneries. But i appreciated all the different settings so i didn't mind that much.

It just... isn't Silent Hill to me. They removed a lot of signature things that made it Silent Hill and when it gets to that point it's like... why bother?

It still has the well known atmosphere.
The big difference is the thing i like about the new game and you liked about the old ones. The combat system/gameplay.

Angra - Is homecoming the one about the guy who heads into SH, and there seems to be a male child he's looking for?
Uh, some kind've military guy in a bodybag?
There's a girl he used to know working...like as a mayor or something?
I played it briefly if so.
I thought it was a great looking game...though I haven't been a HUGE fan of the franchise, this one seemed pretty much unrelated so I thought I'd give it a go.
Nothing wrong with it, I liked it. Just one of the many games I've put aside to play other shit.
Downpour looks brilliant though.
I guess I'm asking the right people on this with you two - have you ever looked at the Siren/Forbidden Siren series?
Always thought they looked quite cool.
Another one you might want to take a look at if you like atmospheric titles, and if you don't mind stepping back to last gen, there was one called "Echo Night - Beyond".
Might've mentioned it before but yeah...very strange game. You walk around a scene of a tragedy of sorts, the whole game is viewed through a space helmet type thing, you hear your own breathing as you become more panicked. I'd check it out if you like weird/ghost titles.
Nothing too gory, though it IS scary.

Yes, that describtion sounds like Homecoming. I also liked the "Hostel" influences later on in the game. A nice blend of Silent Hill and Hostel.
I've tried all 3 of "Sirens" and i'll definitely recomend the newest downloadable version. Why? Because the graphics is much better and you can actually FIGHT againt the crazies and not just run away and find a place to hide. Also you play different characters which makes a nice change in sceneries.
I really hate those kind of games where you have to run away from the action like such games as "Haunting Ground", "Amnesia", and the first two "Sirens". But they ARE quite creepy with lots of atmosphere. :)
And yes, i'm all about creepy atmospehre, so thanks for the rec. Never heard of "Echo Night". I'll look for that one.

If you are an atmosphere guy, I figured 2 would be your bread and butter. Another thing I didn't like about Homecoming was rehashing of specific monsters that had no place in the game at all. They seem to have dropped all the symbolic nature of the monsters in the new ones, especially Downpour. Then give a half assed explanation as to why Pyramid Head is in Homecoming which made no sense. Likewise for nurses. Although the monsters in Homecoming are gold compared to Downpour. If you have not played it yet, get ready for some laaaaaame enemies.

Stretch Panic for the PS2
I just started it really quickly and I have no idea what's going on...
I went into a room with women walking around who had TREMENDOUS breasts that I proceeded to grab with a ghost-like hand coming from my back and then stretch out until this... meter thing... began to glow red. Then I let go of the R1 button and shot into the woman and she... flew into the air like a helicopter and I think I was supposed to grab her again and drag her down? I don't know, I have to try it some more, figure it out lol.

I played the "I am Alive" demo myself...Man, I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for this game, the two trailers came out SO fucking long ago, and it looked like just my type of game.
I was a bit disappointed that it must have had some problems to be launched as a "downloadable only" title, but it's good that it's finally arrived - I was apprehensive at first thinking it wouldn't be as immersive as it could be, but that doesn't seem to be a problem.
Really nice looking game too...feels very alone and tense...
I really enjoyed the demo, will be buying as soon as I'm done with the game I'm currently playing through.

I was skeptic due to the low price. Was afraid it would turn out to be a very short game.
But so far i've been playing it for 4 hours and completed 10% of the game. Don't really have anything negative to say about it yet other than some minor movement problems at times when climbing.

Right now playing through the first "Lego Harry Potter" game.
Probably the best LEGO entry since the Star Wars one...didn't much like Indiana Jones to the point I didn't bother past a stage or two, and LEGO Batman was ok, finished it, but seemed like more of the same old.
While LEGO HP is the same type of game, there's definitely a lot more ways to interact with the environments and objects around you.
All of the LEGO games are at very least "fun" to play and give appropriate respect to the subject material, and this one's no exception.
I'm enjoying it, reminds me of simpler times in gaming.

See a lot of people don't like Deadly Premonition because it's... like a B Movie. It has poor graphics and the gameplay is a little clunky but damn the story is great. Reminds me of Twin Peaks in ways haha.
Okami is fun, it's an action game with some cool little innovations. The art style is amazing IMO.

So at the moment I've played a few games on the WII, but the one I'm actually playing through is called "Mystery Case Files - The Malgrave Incident"
These kind of games, I always think they'll sound very boring when I explain them to people...
It's a "hidden item" type game.
For those of you that don't know what I mean, there's carious scenarios that are a bit like the "Where's Waldo/ly" series - You have to scan through a scene full of random items and objects, and find the objects that are indicated on a list.
In this game, they've actually introduced more of a storyline element to it which I quite like, and haven't contained the puzzles to the hidden item bits either, you have to explore, interact with the environment and actually make USE of some of the items you come across to interact with further scenes, solve other types of puzzles, or gain access to certain areas of the game.
I would say that this game is maybe the best example of the genre that I've seen...though I've not seen all that many.
It's fun, and relaxing to play.
No gaming skill really required - just observation and problem solving sewn into a mystery storyline.
I want to mention a demo I played on PS3 as well.
I think this one is going to be on 360 as well.
It's called "Spec Ops - The Line".
Wow...what a cool looking game...
I remember the original, or one of the originals on dreamcast actually pissed me off.
Not this one though.
Bit like uncharted meets COD.
VERY nice looking game, seems to have an alright storyline for a military shooter as well.
User friendly controls, good atmosphere, and as I said DAMN it's shiny.
Grab the demo.

2. I didn't play them when I was younger. But in comparison to modern games the graphics are fine in my opinion. I'd recommend selecting new voices when you have the option to, I think the original drone on a little. Gameplay is still as frustrating as the PS2 version. :p But I'm a sucker for a story line, so I can dismiss most other game qualities as long as that keeps me interested. Alice - Madness Returns
I enjoyed the first one when it came out, and this one seems like a good enough sequel. Keeps the theme and atmosphere of the original, but it's built on that a fair bit too - quite a few new additions.
It's weird, and it looks nice, as did the first.
My only complaint at the moment is that in staying true to the original they've made the game (at least at this point) seem just a little simplistic and linear.
Though, I am enjoying it and will play through to the end.

Almost done with Amnesia: The Dark Descent for my 3rd or 4th play through. More than highly recommended to everyone here who hasn't played it, even if you aren't a gamer. It, to me, is the defining game of the horror genre, and I can't wait for the sequel.
Sure, it looks scary and what i've heard it's probably the scariest game to date.
I just hate the concept.
Don't think i will ever play a game (again) where you can't fight back somehow. Pisses me off.

It's ok...though nothing really we haven't seen before.
The one thing I keep thinking while playing it, is that it's playable enough but it just seems like elements that have been done better in earlier games.
GTA4 did driving and shooting better.
Shenmue did the fighting and combat system better waaay back past 10 years ago. (Goddamn I'd like to see a third)
Saints Row...well, didn't do it better, but quite similar.
Don't get me wrong, it's an alright game but it just seems pretty derivative.
The storyline is "ok", the voice acting is serviceable.
Though I have to say it's really just more of a "time kill" game, I find myself not driven to complete actual missions, and bored when I don't.
...I thought the camera hacking/drug bust element was rather interesting...if only they'd taken that in further directions that would be cool.
At this point I'd give it about a 5/10.

Honestly, it's awesome. Penumbra bothered me since you couldn't fight back, but there wasn't as much story and stealth. Amnesia isn't really all that monster heavy, it plays like a heavy atmosphere Lovecraft story with a couple chase parts. Totally worth it.

"Assassins Creed 3" PS3
Man, that's one helluva long opening story.
Started out being a little disappointed as it was all the same as the former games, just in a different century. But it is basically the assassin running around in a new rather big town doing 1 main mission after the other. Nothing else to do really. But luckilly that all turns out to be the appetizer. When the actual story begins it's quite amazing. Kind of a blend between AC and Red Dead Redemption.
Oh yes, i'm hooked.

Assassins special ability is a bit weak and kinda dull... The whole melee approach just doesnt really work either and isnt worth the effort. The sniper tree is ridiculously powerful though. Jack up the crit damage and he can just sit back doing insane damage.
I actually have an assassin and mechromancer that I play, love both but probably play the mechromancer more (Deathtrap is soooo badass!)... When I play 4 player with friends though I use the assassin. The damage is insane with sniper and shotguns.

You're totally right; I'll send out my Death Trap during a battle and he'll just flail around with his "special ability" ("special" being the operative word). ;)
Considering that this is a game where the Big Bads have bigger and bigger guns, melee is almost useless - I'm usually the Sniper Queen (I love shotguns too - heehee - Just got a corrosive sniper and a fire shotgun, both of which make me a very very happy girl), but I'll give him that advice. He just found a pretty sweet grenade mod, though, that twirls and spits fire when it hits the ground. He's kicking some ass with that.

Which tree are you using? The Assassins ability gets pretty strong if you go the Cunning route and chuck Kunai which not only cause damage but elemental effects AND adds Marked for Death for extra damage not to mention your decoy exploding for shock damage.

Have played around with all the trees and to be fair the Cunning tree & Kunai are sweet and the Kunai ability does make the assassin ability alot stronger and more useful, but right now I have a crap load of points dumped into the sniper tree, which I totall love. ~28k damage purple jacobs sniper + The Bee is insane single shot damage and switch over to shotguns for bosses or up close.

I love those. The Darkness 2... it looks like it was made for a more "mainstream" audience than the first so I'm afraid it will be missing the little quirky stuff that the first game included (like the ability to watch the whole movie To Kill a Mockingbird). Ah well, anyway, Enslaved was fantastic (didn't realize it was written by the guy who wrote 28 Day Later, I DID pick up on Andy Serkis as the main char. however) and you should all play it. I started playing Dead Space and was loving it up until the asteroid sequence. No matter how many times I try, I just can't get past it. So, while the rest of the world is enjoying the third iteration in the series, I'm still struggling with the first.
Other than that, I have a few games in various stages of completion. Condemned and Condemned 2 - loving both of those games and I play them in fits and starts. Alan Wake - a bit of an overlooked game, this one; I'm about two thirds of the way through it. Silent Hill 2 and 3 HD - I missed these when they came out for the PS (I like Sony amps and Sony tvs but not Sony consoles) so I'm having a go at the second one before I go onto the third - it's alright, not a patch on Resident Evil, though.

It's an action game with a grindhouse style to the whole thing and it's not bad. The control is a little awkward sometimes and the little challenge section was an unwelcome break in the gameplay but overall I'm liking it so far. Malcolm McDowell is in it too so, you know, that's cool.

Black Ops wasn't bad.
It's kind of actually a sequel of sorts, to COD: World at War.
I'd actually recommend grabbing that, IMO it's the best single player experience of all the current COD titles.
I just got through Lego Batman 2.
Disappointingly short, but fun...now all I have to do is the grinding hours to unlock all the stuff.
Complete at 30-something percent, bit of a joke really.
Most of the LEGO titles seem to be a better length.
Nice and shiny looking though.

If you answered yes, you would like this game. The premise of The Secret World is that these secret societies have been guarding our world against evil and invaders from other dimensions for years, and now you are recruited into their ranks and must help.
I also have been doing a second playthrough of Skyrim. This time as a Breton mage. It's fun, but I think my first character was more fun (a Nord warrior type).

I had the same experience, when I realized the game hadn't autosaved and I lost the progress I had made in the couple hours I played it I simply shrugged it off. With something like Fallout I would have been excited to try things in a different way but not so much with Mass Effect.
Yeah - There isn't enough of the story to keep me engaged, unfortunately. You're right to draw a line to Fallout because there I just couldn't put it down - That world was fun to explore but with Mass Effect it's oddly cumbersome.
On the complete other side of the spectrum, I finally started to play Lollipop Chainsaw (PS3) - I found it incredibly entertaining for the first couple of hours, and then the clunky game engine really got to me... Oh, and the villains are really unimaginative and dumb. Too bad; this could have been a good, silly, fanboy schlock game but it just didn't come together...
Ordered Dishonored for the 360 to hopefully fill the void.

Badass game if you like really fast paced action games with a little strategy thrown it, seems like it can get really difficult quickly though. I also like the fact that it doesn't hold your hand and makes you experiment a little with weapons and the environment.

Last Of Us has to wait for a little while as i'm in the mood for some open world action at the moment. Risen 2 COULD've been more open, but it'll have to do. Seems a little dated graphic wise, but takes place in a world of pirates for a change, which i find quite refreshing.
The combat system lacks some to be desired and can be rather frustrating as it feels more like luck than talent when you manage to kill equal opponents.

Dead Space Extraction (Wii version).
I'm in the mood for oldschool on-rail shooters and DS:E is one of the best in genre. It's dark, gory and extremly fun to play if you like this type of gameplay. Even ghaphics doesn't look like s**t which isn't obvious on Wii. After Dead Space I'm going to check Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles :)

Started on the Deadpool game, though I don't think I'll actually see this one through which is very surprising to me.
First of all the combat system, just doesn't really gel for me.
The enemies are generic as all fuck, and the fight scenes/shooting scenes are simply boring and a chore to play.
IMO the cutscenes and the presentation of the character are the only good things. The plot, of course had to be stupid 4th wall shit that's probably the only thing the fans of today are used to (deadpool series of the 90's, get it, read it.).
It's humourous, the character is presented in a good way...but for me the game itself sucks.
These guys would have been better off just writing a deadpool animated feature or something.

What, the first one?
IMO doesn't get much better than that...Infinite is nice and Shiny but IMO doesn't deserve as much credit as it gets.
I found myself immersed in BS1 a lot moreso.
No real shock factor or wowing or comparatively replayability with Infinite IMO...both decent games though...
I recently dropped DEADPOOL which I may or may not try again later...it's just the deadpool character done very well in an otherwise bland and mediocre, derivative game.
Started on "Spec Ops - The Line".
Looks like a quality title. Have wanted to pick this up since playing the demo a while ago. Fairly solid, gritty 3PS with a decent storyline thus far and some nice voicework. Nicely presented too, and enemy A.I is not too bad either.

BFG edition of DOOM3.
I missed this when it first came out, well I had a bit of a go at it when I was at an internet cafe with games but it was very slow to start so I never managed to get into it.
Thought I'd give this a go as it's meant to look a bit better and addressed a major issue (the torch thing?) that people had with the first release.
I don't mind it, quite atmospheric but vastly different from the series up to that point...not that I was expecting something THAT oldskool...but yeah it's alright. A bit annoying that more things have just snuck up on me or appeared behind me than in maybe any other game I've ever played.
The narrative/storyline addition serves the evolution well, as does the PDA system VS the old looking around for various coloured keys.
I'll give it this, it does manage to put me on edge.
Kind of makes me yearn for something new to feel a little more oldskool, but it's a relatively well made game, even if it is showing it's age somewhat.
I'll probably play through.

Best game ever is probably a marketing stretch. None of the GTA games are best ever quality to me. All very easy, guide you around games. A lot of money spent on the world, music, voices, etc. Just like all the other big titles that are far from best game ever. Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, and others come to mind. But I haven't played the new GTA yet. It does seem to have some cool hidden horror / sci-fi stuff. I've seen pictures on the Internet showing Bigfoot and Aliens.

I do not like games where you have to fly things.
The storyline/backstory has become a little more complex as it goes along.
As I play through, I'm seeing some things that I like, improvements if you will.

I finished the GTA V main storyline on Wednesday at midnight. I thought it was amazing; definitely the best in the series. In my opinion, it blew GTA IV out of the water. I found the missions to be some of the most interesting in the series (I loved the scores ones especially) and there was excellent character development. As for the world, it was absolutely huge and really felt like a real metropolis. The nature aspect was nearly as stunning (I loved how they added some wildlife). Additionally, the realism was incredible. I was like four or five days into the game and I still could not get over the realism. It may not be the best video game ever, but it is definitely in my top ten of all-time and I would put it as the best of the year (even over The Last of Us). Thus, a 10/10.

I think Bully has been my favorite Rockstar game yet, but I'm not even close to finished with GTA V. I'm at about 35% or so. I think I played a demo of that - this the one that gibli has something to do with?
I remember thinking it would be a bit like an FF type title, perhaps a bit more user-friendly. Nice looking, playing a cartoon more or less.
I'm now finished with Saints 4.
While it was a bit of fun, the story based content was essentially terrible.
The humour was there, but nothing stopped this from feeling like the grindy ad-on that it was originally intended to be.
Boss fight was "ok", the real-world missions were a bit of fun.
The "good" ending was kinda cool, though a bit superfluous, I actually preferred the resolution to the "bad" ending I watched later.
Like, it's not a bad game...it's just not a step in the right direction in my mind.
I've moved onto LEGO Marvel.
Hm. It's a Lego game...aside from the first star-wars one that I liked a fair bit, and admittedly the Harry Potter ones were pretty well done...these have been a bit run of the mill. "Break everything".
I like this one alright. HUGE unlockable character roster, I'm 4 lvls in, and I haven't even got past the tip of the iceberg there.
I like the open world and the mini-quest addition. Mapping system easy to get around which was a major failing in the last batman one...
I think I'm enjoying this largely out of my former and present inundation with marvel material. I love the universe, the characters are fun, I like running into things and people I recognise.
This game does rather have me longing for a new "Ultimate Alliance" type game though, maybe one day..

Diablo III on the PS3... Because there aren't a lot of multi-player games that the hubby and I can play from the same console... Ehhhhhh - It's like Diablo II... Except on the PS3...

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. I am a big history buff, but am not really that interested in the Golden Age of Piracy. With that being said, the story, so far seems pretty good, although I am not far into the game. I can't say I love all the ship stuff. I think I am a "land lover"... lol.

Lately I have been playing a good deal of XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Thus far I think it is an excellent game that really satisfies my love of strategy gaming, especially considering how barren that genre has been of late.

Just started Sleeping Dogs and got into Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds a little. Both fun games but not what I'm looking for right now. Splatterhouse or Lollipop Chainsaw tonight after "Psych" night with friends probably.

I've been looking at that and Starbound quite a bit, I think (since the Humble Sale has Arma II Combined Ops for $6.00) I'm going to start playing the DayZ mod before any of those though. I love the survival aspect of Rust though so I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Playing it now, it's interesting. Some people kill you because they want your stuff, some people kill you to try and get a rise out of you, and others kill you because they're paranoid that you'll kill them. This game is the first ever naked murder simulator.
