My friend bought that one and was severely dissapointed...but I think his major issue was how it "looked like an xbox 1 could've handled it" and he's like a gaming elitist that doesn't usually see beyond the latest bells n whistles.
I started playing "Mario and Luigi - Partners in Time" which actually looks pretty good, this was unexpected...

Well, my cousin, whos a total WOW nerd, told me it was the best game he'd ever played.

Just started Dragon Age: Origins... My GOD it takes a looooooooooooong time to get into... Still setting the story up, I'm afraid. :(
Combat leaves a bit to be desired; it seems clunky and slow (and, no, I don't think it's because of the weapon I'm wielding), and sometimes switching perspective just confuses things. Controls are a little clunky too. I had read reviews that the 360 was the weakest version. I wonder if that's where the problems lie.

It does hash that Devil May Cry/God of War free swinging combat together though it's sense of world design and progression harkens back to the SNES style classic 3rd person RPGs that were so popular in the wake of Zelda.
It didn't think it was half bad, though I am not a puzzle solving man at heart and towards the end it feels as if I am just going from one eleaboratly designed puzzle to the next hoping for something to fight.

FFXii is definetly backwards compatible with the the PS3 I run it on mine without a problem. It made some really positive deviations from the formula in terms of combat and is not without it's charms. Additionally it has Balthier in it who is like what I imagine the lovechild of James Bond and Han solo would be like, easily the best character born of the FF series since the chilling almost androgynous villian Sepiroth of FFVii.
Still it has much of the same problems as any FF game, overly self involved characters and plots mired in melodrama more then even I am comfortable absorbing. Not to mention the fact it still involves massive amounts of wandering around chipping away at enemies until your thumbs blister up.

I enver found this, many have talked about it being cumbersome and overly difficult nevertheless I found the learning curve smooth as silk, and by the time I was fighting large groups of difficult enemies I was switching characters setting up backstabs and throwing down bad ass magic like a pro. What origin story did you choose?
Ahhh alas the curse of being so many miles away, was I closer I'd just come over to your house sit you down teach you all the tricks and watch intrigued as to how your version of the story played out. There is certainly some compelling moments and characters in the game I do encourage you to "tough it out" so to speak.

I got down to 26 in my last check, 29 in the one after, ha, guess I had a bad day...though considering I'm not 29 quite yet, I'm good with it.
Mario VS Donkey Kong 2
Yknow, it's not a bad game...but I'm really annoyed with it to be honest, more annoyed with Nintendo that they didn't continue the main series as it was
eg: Donkey Kong gameboy, Mario VS Donkey Kong 1, where you ran around as Mario etc...anyone who's played 'em knows these games rocked...though in this one you have to click on little Mario Toys, press switches etc, to let them proceed safely through the levels...as I said while not a bad game, it feels more like a Lemmings title than anything - they should have just sold this one as a spin-off and continued the actual series with the title.

Almost bought that one, but chose "The Saboteur" instead.
"The Saboteur" PS3
This is GTA set in 1940s France, with a little Assasins Creed added.
I really love the scenery. Very nice graphics with lots of nice details, such as famous buildings and..... the sky is actually very cool to look at. I also love that it's possible to just drive out in the countryside if you feel like it. The change in scenery is very well made. Both the landscape and the sky.
The missions are not far from what you're used to in the GTA games, but I personally could have wished for a few more checkpoints durring some of the missions, as you many times don't have a clue how to complete them.
Only 1 thing annoys the hell out of me about this game and that's the character you're playing. A cocky irish fuck of a hero. Every time he starts talking i hope for a bullet to hit his face or some nazi to come rip out his tongue. That would be swell..

No, I don't feel sorry for you - you made a ill advised decision (perhaps on account of your dick) and put trust and faith in the wrong person, and evidently you're letting a bunch of the same sorts into your place for having had it happen twice, either that or you openly flaunt
a: your goods
b: your lack of security
After this you'll HOPEFULLY be more cautious but better for it, so it's in fact a valuable lesson learned.

Is it in any way comparable to Fahrenheit? Like in the way it's controlled and works etc? I've been waiting a fair while for this....by the time I get it, it'll probably be a bit cheaper...

Fahrenheit would be the right game to put Heavy Rain up against, coz the thoughts behind them are very much alike. Unique gameplay and both games are like interactive movies.
The age difference is noticable, needles to say. Both gameplay and controls are better in Heavy Rain. But the big reason why Heavy Rain is a much better game and why it's got all this positive buzz around it, is because of its story. It's really that good. Like if Se7en had never been made into a movie and instead comes out as a videogame. It's that kind of a story. And the build-up is amazing.

I found WaW to be the hardest on veteran.MW@ is by far the easiet. Not a million grenades landing at your feet.
Metro 2033.Had the potential to be a fantastic game but it was rushed and is really glitchy. If they had took the time to polish this game a little more it would have been IMo one of the years best games.

Then the others shouldn't be quite as much of a controller throwing experience. It isn't that bad, but I've found that there tends to be one part in every level, that you must do over and over again. Luckily, I've only a few levels left to go.
That sucks. I was looking forward to playing Metro 2033.

Seriously reconsidering turning it on again...I mean, I honestly wonder how many people actually LIKE gta anymore since #4...
Loved VC and SA, but it's like with increased realism comes decreased fun.
Even fucking around shooting shit doesn't seem as enjoyable anymore.
...and I've just had it with missions that give you an instant "wanted" rating, it's like every fucking one in this particular title...I just don't enjoy running from cops that much.

Okay.
This is what i can tell after 40 minutes of gamplay.
The intro is quite slow and a little bit boring. The scenery, on the other hand, is amazing. The graphics is about the same standards as GTA 4. Neither better or worse. So that's pretty damn good.
So far there's really nothing to dislike. And what i love the most is that Rockstar has finally dared to try something new with their, amazing, open world concept and gone with an older century. Coz even tho GTA 4 was close to being perfect in my book, the concept was getting a little tedious.
Story wise there's really nothing new. Sure in the intro they're horsebacking while chit chatting, but they might as well could've been driving a cab having the same conversation.
But so far, the scenery is what's winning me over. But the story hasn't begun yet...

Cold Fear - PC.
I believe I'm at the final boss now.
True, it's a few years old now (2005-2006 maybe?) but this game just really hit the mark for me, it's one of the best survival/horror games I've played in aaaages.
It's kind of like...dead space meets run like hell meets resident evil 4?
Just been a pleasure all the way to play.
A *little* limited when it comes to enemies, though the ones you encounter are pretty cool looking and of variable challenge.
Nothing all THAT groundbreaking but an interesting setting, an ok storyline and an overall very tense creep out atmosphere, pretty good looking game to boot.
I'd recommend it to those that don't mind stepping back from the brand new.

I finished Cold Fear, and went up to EB games...man, XBOX 1 games are so cheap right now...I haven't used mine for ages and I've never had much of a collection since getting it, so I picked up some more.
Midnight Club 3 - Dub Edition
This one was my chicks choice. Well...seems ok...I like the open world driving/racing games. I have not played it myself but it looks entertaining enough I suppose, nice and shiny considering its age.
Soul Calibur 2 - I needed a solid 2 player fighter so when I saw it for $7 there was no decision making process at all. SC, since the first title Soulblade on PS1, has been my favourite VS fighter. So much value there.
Still Life - Another of her choices.
Pretty good looking game though. Doesn't seem to have a lot of action? But you get to investigate crime scenes and some grisly shit going on. Good dialogue too.
Obscure
Waited a while to get this, and not too sure what I make of it now.
I like the movie-esqe feeling of it? Not too sure on the gameplay itself.
I mean I'll be keeping it anyways, it seems solid enough.
Picking up some more today.

"Final Fantasy XIII" PS3
First FF game for PS3 and it very well could be the worst Final Fantasy game i've ever played. VERY disappointing so far.
"Singularity" PS3
Very fast paced horror shooter with a nice atmosphere. Very "Fear"ish. Personally i like this one better than the Fear's due to the pacing and the fact that you, in a horror game, actually are up against monsters instead of just other soldiers.
"Obscure" PS2
Yea, i can only agree with Cheebs about this one. This is a horror game where the story goes on even tho your heroes dies one after another, if you play the game bad enough. Like me.
The story seems pretty exciting.
What i don't like about it is the gameplay, especially when fighting, and that you can't change the viewing angles while walking around or fighting. Makes it more than difficult to hit your targets when you don't know exactly where they are.

Real keen to check out Mafia II when I can afford to pick it up.
I enjoyed Mafia II, but there are some things you should be aware of before spending your money on it.
Firstly, although it looks like an open world "sandbox" game, like GTA IV etc, it really isn't. It is in fact very linear. Sure, you can drive/walk around the city, but there is virtually nothing to do. Rob some shops, steal a car, kill some bystanders and get into police chases. That is about it. Really, it is meant to be played through in a linear, mission based way.
Secondly, it is quite short. Maybe 10 hours or less on the hardest difficulty?
You spend a lot of that time driving around. You often have a long drive to a mission, sometimes a short drive between sites, and then another long drive home. There is more driving than shoot outs.
Jimmy's Vendetta DLC adds quite a bit more play time, but they sting you another $13 USD for that.
It also requires a pretty beefy system if you want to play it on maximum settings on the PC.
I did enjoy the game - I liked the storyline which was very much a compendium of Mafia movie cliches. But I think it is probably not what everyone expects when they play it.

Sure, the weapons are fun.
But the game is quite repetitive. It's pretty much the same you do again and again. Out rescuing survivors in the city. And in between is the story. Sure, you can explore, but there's always the time limit, which sucks.
And also, the way you fight the zombies reminds me of God Of War and old Amiga Beat-em-up games such as Double Dragon. No creepy atmosphere, just kick ass action. Satisfying to some, disappointing to me.

There is a game called Dantes inferno for the playstation 3 and xbox 360, It isnt technically considered a "Horror" video game like Silent Hill or anything like that but it is based on a Condemned Man who goes threw the 7 layers of Hell in pursuit of his Wife who was also Condemned because of Dantes adultery with another woman, She wagered her soul to Lucifer that he would stay faithful until the day they both seize to exist, and He failed. It is a pretty long game, its single player and I enjoyed it very much. It is sort of like Devil may cry and God of war, Meaning you run around and kill everything you see. Collecting Souls , Either Condemning them or Absorbing them, Dark or light. Each gives souls to purchase New Attack moves and Magic abilities. If anyone who reads this has a newer game system and Like Dark games, Which if your on this site, Im guessing you do. Lol. I suggest you go to a Game store and buy it used. Should be around 30 to 40 $ most def' worth it in my opinion... Ty 4 reading my post on Dantes Inferno.

You lucky b....
I think he meant to say lucky buttfucker.
I've been playing "Spider-Man - Shattered Dimeonsions", and I have to say, this is the best Spider-Man game I've EVER played...the only other one I've really liked was the first one on Playstation/Dreamcast and have felt the rest of them just seemed like clones since (that said I've yet to play web of shadows, that looks great too).
Perfect combat/web swinging/zip-lining system, including a first person brawling system that comes into play too...that actually doesn't suck...
Decent dialogue (with every Spider-Man been played by a former cartoon incarnation of the character) and voice acting, and a relatively compelling storyline.
My only criticism really is that the Spider-Man 2099 levels seem a little lacking, because of effort to make them different...it's interesting all the same.
REALLY well done game with some fucking epic boss fights.
Fans of the character or the games ought to give this one a look, IMO it's the definitive Spider-Man gaming experience.
and The Saboteur
Now THAT is a shit-hot game. Loved it.

Just loaded up Call of Duty: World At War and I am really looking forward to it, after reading some of the glowing reviews it has got. This is my first CoD game so...what can I expect?
Just played the first few minutes and it looks good so far. Hope there are individual missions ahead. I read someplace that a mission involving zombies is also available. Download, unlock or Easter egg?

Your first COD game?
Expect something very intense and an almost shellshock type feeling when you put it down...WAW is one of my favourites thus far, if not the best IMO.
Very cinematic, some CRAZY firefights, and quite creepy in parts too.
You unlock the zombie bit upon completion...I haven't played any of the downloadable content ones (there's 3 more) but in all honesty the first one, was a bit boring, just surviving while hordes come at you...no open world going on at all.
Overall though, REALLY good game.
I'm back to saints row 2, borrowed a copy from a friend.
I just finished Spider-Man shattered dimensions, and wow, easily the best spider-man game EVER - I highly recommend this to ANYONE.

Hmmm... not a very good intro. Minimal build-up.
Seems like Rock Stars mission with Nightmare is to have all the characters from the first game either killed or turned into zombies.

Enslaved - Odyssey to the West.
Visually excellent, storyline is solid enough and the dialogue suits the characters well enough. The levels are a little linear, and there's not much of a chance for open exploration but those are my only complaints.
The enemies are interesting and challenging, and the game makes you want to get through it.
There's elements of God of War, Uncharted, and Ico mingling here to make a pretty nicely done cinematic game.
It's not without it's flaws, some annoying camera angles are among them...but overall it's a very fun game set in an interesting future reality.
Feels very desolate and lonely.
It's not a game of great depth, but for those who like to look at visually stunning games that have a decent storyline and play pretty cinematically, as well as those fans of Monkey Magic, I'd recommend it.

SAW - Xbox 360.
So my friend bought this and got fed up with it, and I decided I'd have a go as I've been personally interested in checking it out, and the girlfriend is into puzzle games so I thought it would be something we could play through together.
I thought I'd come in here and talk about how the game is/was, even though I've reached a point that I don't think I'll be bothering to continue past.
First of all the theme/atmosphere works pretty damn well in my opinion, you feel as though you're taking part in a pretty authentic SAW experience - the setting and how the game works reminded me mainly of Saw 2, and I think the events are meant to take place between the first and second film. So yeah in terms of authenticity I wasn't at all disappointed, this game knows how to put you on edge, making it necessary to observe your surroundings and actually follow clues if you're to stay alive.
The "challenge/trap" levels, in which you have to save someone etc, they're varied enough, and again these scenes feel nicely in tone with the movies, they're basically like, puzzle and logic minigames set to a cinematic scene, I enjoyed them.
One thing I had a slight problem with, was your character and how he moves around and fights...it's simply sluggish...I don't really like how the combat works, and yeah I was looking at the screen a lot wondering why you just amble around like your feet are tied together...even at top speed you're practically walking. It's annoying. The combat itself is not "bad" just not very fun at all, the weapons feel unwieldy.
The enemies, well there's your run of the mill folk that have simply been placed in the same location as you and mostly have reasons to want to kill you...they're not really noteworthy. The interesting ones are those with traps...some that can only track you by sound but WILL fuck you ip, there's some with collars that will go off and kill them (and you if you're close) there's others that have things on them that will detonate if they're killed leaving you unable to fight them up close, so it's either let them kill you, or use the environment like doors/locks/barricades to get yourself safe and then take them out by activating traps, stun traps, electrocution, door traps, shotgun tripwire traps and the like.
I really liked this part of the game...and while it takes a little bit to not just stumble into pre-existing traps yourself, the process by which you can disarm them and reassemble them is pretty cool, great fun.
The major let-down is the puzzles.
I don't mind puzzle games, the girl loves them...so I figured, ok.
Then I started seeing a common theme - this game kept throwing almost exactly the same scenario at me.
It was either...
a: Turn off some leaking gas before you die
b: Fix/rewire a circuitboard before bombs all around you explode.
Literally, the same type of scenario happened so many times it got BORING...now this disappointed me, but not enough so that I'd stop playing, at this stage I just thought "ok, so they've run out of ideas?" and kept going.
Now brings me to the point/s in the game that pissed me off, you know them, I know them, those scenes that game designers LOVE to throw around "to make it more challenging", that's right, fucking time limits.
So as I said you'd get one of the aforementioned scenarios, this time, with a countdown...all that changed further into the game, was, less time, more difficulty. Then, I got to a scene that had BOTH of those scenarios in one...both poison gas and a countdown to an explosion, on a BITCH time limit.
I swear to god if ever I see another "pipeline" style current/water redirection game within a game, I will simply turn it off...I've never been too good at those, and personally just don't find them any kind of "fun" or enjoyable.
I understand the need for challenge...but when it gets to the point that if you make one single fuck-up or don't work something out super-fast and it just fucks you over for it, it gets old.
I'm not the most seasoned gamer, but I hold my own...I don't play things on "easy" and generally speaking when I play a game, it gets finished so yeah I'm not quick to throw things into the "too hard" pile.
We tried this scene about 10 times, this may not sound like too many but the overall scene takes some 4 minutes...there's no progression saved, if you don't succeed, it's right back to the beginning.
That's just annoying, and yeah I don't like it when games annoy me.
Could I have done it? I'll hazard a guess and say "probably", but hey maybe it's that I don't spend as many hours gaming as I used to but I find as I get older my tolerance for such bullshit goes out the window and I'm less willing to sit there hammering something like this until I succeed, so I stopped, at the risk of my friends disk meeting with some kind of accident, most of the way through "victim 5" of 7.
In short, if you're a fan of the film series especially the earlier films before everything became convoluted as all fuck, then you'd probably enjoy this game...though, if you're not a person who likes puzzle games, and you're not pretty nimble and fast when it comes to them, you will likely find it problematic, though you may have a higher boiling point than I did.
I will still give this game a 7/10 even with it's shortcomings, and since it's meant to be completely unrelated in storyline, even though I'd expect more of the same I may end up checking out the second one, in the hope that it's addressed some of the issues the first had.

Singularity.
Now this is the kind of sci-fi/horror FPS I like to see.
I can find very few problems with this game...I mean it's not really open world and where you can/can't go is pretty clearly outlined but it doesn't spoil it too much at all...this is one of those games that introduces and throws you into a reality all its own, a reality that feels surreal yet authentic at the same time.
Cool game, nice weapons and upgrades, really WEIRD stuff you can do via time manipulation though it doesn't stray into gimmicky.
Bit of a difficult challenge level but I think most average gamers could get around it fairly well given time.
It's actually a bit scary, quite atmospheric and is very interesting to look at.
For those who liked BioShock and the Half Life games, I'd definitely recommend having a look at this one, I'm enjoying it a lot.

Been looking forward to this games since last summer coz Open World Medieval is my favorite genre. That being said..
Reeeeeeeally disappointed so far.
The graphics really isn't great even tho it looked so on the back of the cover. The voice acting is some of the worst i've heard in many, many years. But what's even worse is the gameplay. Or more precisely the gamespeed. Your movements are just way too fast. Feels more like driving than running, which makes simple tasks such as running/steering through a doorway quite difficult. Bravo..
Oh, and one more thing. If there really is an open world somewhere i'm looking forward to see it, coz so far it's been like a one way street.
Now, run out and buy the game people.

I've literally played it for about 15 minutes, haven't had the time yet. Does look really good though and pretty freaky, hopefully be on a similar 'scare' level to Condemned - some parts in that game, wow, horror films haven't really come close to!

Really good game, one of my favourite single player games in years for the 360. Similar to Heavy Rain in some ways but more of your bulk standard game. Sure it gets a little tedious at times but in terms of atmosphere and the story it's really good, try and get your hands on the DLC as well (think you get a code for the first one if you bought a new copy).
You can pick it up pretty cheap nowadays as well definitely one to get if people like single player stories and are unsure whether to buy or not.
