There's no greatness in pretending...at least killing things is something I could actually do if I were so inclined...but with your thing, if you could have, you would have, no?
Where's your football team, hmmm?
sad, sad, sad...
How they could even call it a game is beyond me.
I guess it depends on how much action you want in a game. You have to stay focused while killing things, but with manager i can do other stuff at the same time while playin, such as watching tv or practicing guitar etc. It's nice and stressless. But most of all quite fun in its own slow pacing way. :)

I've looked into KILLER7 too, the box art made it look a bit like XIII...any similarity ingame at all?
I actually downloaded (super) Castlevania 4 which I've never played, Mario World which I've never come close to finishing, and been playing Ocarina of Time, which I've seen quite a bit of before but never actually played through MYSELF.
The wii is great in this respect of it's network features, but they sure to need to beef the amount of titles available right on up.
For anyone with a wii - get SEGA's "shining force", noticed that was available, great strategy/battle/rpg type game there.

Nowhere near... Killer 7 is like a pseudo on rails shooter with some exploration elements and a surreal story that really makes the game an experience. XIII was a stylized FPS that didn't bring anything new to the table other than the art direction.

I've been playing the Power and Glory mod for GTR2.
It is essentially a mod for GTR2 that gives you some of the cars from GT Legends, but with the improved physics and weather from GTR2. Also, the cars are modeled to recreate the cars as they would have been in the 60's and 70's (eg radial ply tyres, etc) as opposed to GT Legends which models the cars on present day historic race cars (ie more modern tyres, suspension upgrades, etc).
It's a good mod, the Triumph TR4 is a fun car to drive. Can hold some serious power oversteer around a corner and is very adjustable by brake and throttle.

So, better'n the 64 version, or just...another one?
I loved the 64 version.
Hm, right now I'm on the last "boss" of SHADOW OF THE COLLOSSUS....it's hard to keep interest in a game that is essentially great, but a bastard of a walk between places.
I'll give it this - it's a very nice looking game with great ambient sounds and music, visuals that rival most of what's on the ps2 to this day, and an above average set of fights/encounters - even though few and far between.
Worth a look if you've not yet.

I've been playing "Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction". PS3.
There's been times I've watched my younger brother play the PS2 titles of this series which always looked quite good, and I've had a go at "size matters" on the PSP, which I thought was ok, I guess pretty good for a handheld game of this type, but I felt it lacked any real depth.
So...not really a "fan" of the series.
Now, as most of you know I work for Playstation, so I get to play a lot of the newer games that have/will come out...and I have to say that, with not a doubt in my mind, this is one of the best games on the PS3.
Good learning curve, lots of items and weapons, a great range of enemies, beautiful scenery and graphics (seriously, it's fucking slick AS) great "adventure" storyline and feel, it's funny without being over the top stupid, and it's difficulty level is fine, gets progressively harder but none of the puzzles, bosses, or levels are overly hard (I'm about 70% through), great amount of open ended exploration, tons of hidden areas.
It's honestly one of the most well made games I've ever seen, and I'd recommend it for children and adults alike - this would be the perfect game for a parent to play "with" a child too.
I liked the first one, I didn't care for the rest.
Kind of like the first Jak & Daxter. The others were good, but not as good as the first.
I wouldn't have jumped on the bandwagon on the basis of ANY of the previous versions of the game, but hey, if you liked the first, maybe check out this one on ps3 when you get a chance, it's at very least worth a hire - a LOT of effort went into this game, and it's almost flawless, and very fun.

Only two episodes right now and they're brilliant. Both episodes continue the story told in HL2 and I have heard rumors that episodic content will continue until HL3 is released. Episode 1 is a fun ride but 2 is by far superior I think and actually brings Portal locations and characters into the world. Speaking of Portal it's a mind bending intelligent ride that's filled with dark humor and brilliant puzzles. Couldn't recommend it more. Oh, there's some multiplayer game on there too. ;)

My boyfriend recently purchased Bioshock for the XBox 360 and we've just recently started playing it. Didn't think that I'd be all that interested (I've always been a Nintendo/Metroid kind of girl), but I have to say that I'm fairly impressed.
This game is post-apocalyptic, scifi first-person shooter joy. This is really the first time that I've tooled around with the XBox, so I'm having issues aiming and shooting. Personally, I prefer to whack people with the wrench.

Again, problem is, I'm a terrible shot. Oh, and I'm a total pussy when things are jumping out at me.

To tell you the truth, it's been a long, long time since I've gotten into a video game... Metroid Prime for the Game Cube was the last one. The boyfriend got me the XBox for my Birthday but I've been hesitant to play any games for fear of getting sucked in... But Bioshock is pretty damn captivating...
Again, problem is, I'm a terrible shot. Oh, and I'm a total pussy when things are jumping out at me.
My boyfriend: But you love horror movies. How can this scare you?!
I think I'd probably fare better if I were playing this on the PC rather than the XBox.
My favorite scares in that game are when something sneaks up on you and just kind of waits... so when you turn your character around there's a creature staring right at you. They did that with System Shock 2 as well, very effective. :)

I do find FPS games to be easier/more intuitive with keyboard and mouse. So I tend to get them on PC if they are available. Can't come to terms with aiming with a control pad.

bioshock is the next game i'll play when i have the time to commit to it.

One of the creepy doctors were doing that after the boyfriend found the Inferno Plasma. Mark turned our character around a little bit...
Me: THERE'S SOMEONE THERE!
Mark: *turns in other direction*
Creepy Doctor: *ATTACKS*
Me: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH I TOLD YOOOOOOOOU!
Mark: GodDAMN it, Amanda!
It's funny because Mark doesn't scare easily at all... Unless I jump and scream... THAT'S when he jumps out of his skin.
I'm also impressed with the use of light and shadow, and I love the fact that if you hide, the beasties will just whale on each other.
I honestly recommend Bioshock for those of you who haven't played it. It's brilliantly done, beautiful, and wonderfully macabre. Not to mention, it combines three of my favorite things: Science Fiction, Post-Apocalypse, and Eugenics. mwahahahahahaha

Weird...Maybe I'm immune to the scary stuff now days. I played through this and most of Condemned(Haven't finished it yet), without even the slightest flinching. Yet my girlfriend, and a bunch of other people I talk to, said those games scared them...Well, my girlfriend wasn't scared playing Condemned, just Bioshock. But still.
Fatal Frame used to scare me, but I played it the other day, and I was wanting a jolt or two, but got through two levels without even a slight nervousness.
Bioshock rocked though. One of my favorite games. Can't believe I didn't buy it sooner.

Playing through Bioshock while I've borrowed "the competitions" console.
I have to say, it's a nice looking game - rivals most current gen games.
Pretty immersive, with an interesting storyline if one were to follow it.
Reminds me of Deus Ex, in terms of the "you start pretty weak and think ITS TOOO HARD before you upgrade yourself into a kickass machine".
Unique setting, quite atmospheric and scary at times - I can see why this one is being adapted into film.
Other than that, next I will be moving on to a game that I had to import, the USA folks will know this one as "disaster report", to the UK folks its "S.O.S - The Final Escape". This is a game that never got released here, but the UK version will work fine on my PS2 console as far as I know.
All I can say is that despite a couple of "this game is just ok" and even "bad" reviews, I find the concept interesting and I've wanted to play this game for ages, waiting on it now.
After that, I'm going to be importing BAD DAY L.A on pc, and also grabbing a copy of another old PS2 game I always thought looked quite cool "E.O.E".

It's either gather alot of this and that, or kill alot of this and that, or bring this letter to somebody on the other side of the continent, or kill someone/ something deep within a dungeon/castle whatever. Assasin's Creed to me felt a mile long but about an inch thick... Huge world, but not much to do in it but kill soldiers with your limited means... I mean, you're in the central of a BAZARRE, for Christ's sake... Why can't you do dealings and barterings? Why can't you interact with the town's people more than just running into them or pushing them gently?
Then again, I didn't get too far into it, so maybe it picks up?

Glad I wasn't the only one... I'm surprised that I didn't read more reviews saying, "I was bored out of my mind." Redundant, I can deal with as long as it grabs my attention to begin with.
I started playing Mass Effect today... Aaaaaaaaaaaaand... Dunno. Surprisingly hasn't grabbed my attention, either. Maybe I'm just ADD when it comes to video games. But I'm disappointed at how slow it is.
Anyone play Mass Effect and feel the same way? Does it pick up?
the side missions are totally boring, but the campaign get pretty exciting.

get Elder Scrolls Oblivion. by far the best game i've played on the 360, not to mention one of the best games i've played ever. its TEN miles long and TEN miles thick. I got in close to 300 hours before i beat it, but thats because i spend the majority of that doing the hundreds of side mission scattered throughout the game.

I have Oblivion on the PC. And it definitely is one of the best games out there....Just don't expect to have much of a life once you start playing it. :D
I thought Assassin's Creed was a fun game. I had it on a rental, I've just been waiting on the price to drop to play it any further. It reminded me a lot of the "Thief" series. Thief was a bit more straight-forward though.
Right now, I'm playing The Orange Box and Unreal Tournament. :)

I am DYING for this. just havent had the disposable cash to get it.
I have been playing Unreal Tournament, the original one, since my pc was damaged, i havent had access to a machine capable of playing much more. UT still rocks though, it has aged pretty well. the graphics are obviously dated, but the gameplay is still great.
I love hearing repeated "HEADSHOT!" on maps like facing worlds. i just sit on top of the tower and pop off shots at the other team as they spawn (against bots, not people. that would make me an asshole)

Thanks, but I'm going to get it on PS2. My computer just crashed again, and I lost everything. I can't even open zip or rar files anymore. :(
Question:
I know there are several games in this series, but looking them up has me confused. A lot of them are labeled different. Here is what I know exist:
Unreal Tournament
Unreal Championship
Unreal Championship 2
Unreal Tournament III
Unreal II: The Awakening
Edit:
I found these:
Unreal
Unreal Tournament 2003
Unreal Tournament 2004
Am I still missing any?
What I find strange, is there is Unreal Tournament, then Unreal Tournament III. Was there ever, actually a second one?

i picked up Bioshock a while ago ... a friend at work has been raving about it - and from what he said i need a bit of time to invest in it.
here's the thing - Halo was perfect for me ..
it had frequent saving points - the story was linear - just run and shoot ... no thinking required ... I really liked the music and the visuals - and the vehicles ..
but most importantly ... the saving .. if i died i only lost a couple of minutes and i was back again.
these other games seem like too much time and effort is required - thats really not what i'm looking for .. i just want to run around - find cool stuff - not have to figure crap out - because i really dont want to invest any effort at all into any game.
i probably will check out Bioshock at some point ... maybe this winter .. hopefully i can stay interested for more than 5 minutes because none of these other games have grabbed me :
Assasins Creed
Fear
Quake IV
Prey
Gears of War
Clive Barker's Jericho
Dead Rising
a few others i cant remember ...
I get bored after 10 - 15 minutes.

Better than The Darkness?
Yes, actually. I thought that the UI was significantly smoother and I thought that it was a little more complex than The Darkness. I thought that The Darkness controls were a little sketchy (especially when using the "creeping dark" - this element should have been better executed) at times while Condemned was pretty smooth (with the exception of the CSI element; I thought that that could have been done a little better). I was more interested in the Ethan character in Condemned than Jackie Estacado in The Darkness. I thought that Ethan was a bit more complex than Jackie and that there was more to the plot of Condemned than with The Darkness. I also really liked the investigative element to Condemned, which added another level to the game. It made the game seem less linear and streamlined than The Darkness. Also, I thought that the side quests for The Darkness were silly.
Don't get me wrong - Your recommendation of The Darkness was a great one. It was definitely enjoyable, clever, and different. I could just run and eat people's hearts out over and over again... I just thought that Condemned had a lot more going on (plus, the Big Bads were a little more varied and creepy; if The Darkness had more scenes in WWII, I think I would have enjoyed it more... I also really enjoyed the investigative element to Condemned). HOWEVER, from what I've heard, there are some plans for a second Darkness game. I will most definitely pick it up (I hope that it will clean up the sketchy UI in the first one).
As for Condemned, I'm honestly psyched to get and play the first one. And, well, it seems obvious that the second one is opening to a third one, which I'll pick up right away whenever they release it.
How about you? Which one do you like better?

I thought the darkness was better than condemned 2, but that doesnt mean Condemned 2 wasnt freakin awesome. its like playing out a movie, the graphics are flawless, and the characters move so smoothly, the level with the rabid bear practically made me shit my pants, and the level on the boat when you get chased by the giant robot thing was awesome
however it was too short.
VampiricClown

I really can't say at the moment. I only have the first Condemned, and I'm not quite finished with it. I played a short demo of the second one, and I thought that the graphics were incredible.
I think the fact that the first one moves rather slow, and that you can't always have your guard up, is one of the downfalls for me playing it. I'm one of those people that when I play, I am constantly spinning in a circle with whatever weapon I can use, always drawn. I don't know if the second one cleans that up any or not. But being on the cell phone with maniacs running around you, that just doesn't fly with me.
Condemned is a great game, don't get me wrong. I think I'm just geared more towards the action, mafia and faster walking in The Darkness. And the WWI segment just blew me away. It was atmospheric, creepy and very disturbing. I still think about that horse. And the more open-ended gameplay of it, really set it apart for me. I like my freedom in games. I don't like to have to be confined to do one thing. One reason I like the Elder Scrolls series. Yes, some of the side missions were a bit dumb, but it gives you something to do for added gameplay.
I really can't see myself playing through the first Condemned, more than once. The Darkness, I'd play again and again. Maybe Condemned is just too slow for me or something. I mean, the atmosphere is awesome. But when you move like a dog with a bad leg, it gets annoying.

BTW, let me know when you DO finish them, I appear to be the only person here who has finished either of them.

Well, I appear to be the only one who finished FEAR then.
For horror fans to havel played and not finished FEAR... Its like being a horror fan who has never seen the exorcist or texas chainsaw massacre... you HAVE to, it is too good an example of the genre not to.

Maybe some horror fans just doesn't like shoot-em-up games.
Ever thought about that, hmm?

I finished the game awhile back but just didn't care for it that much.they talked about how much horror was involved but in reality you spend most of your time fightint those soldiers.

....A lot of us here have finished BioShock (Including me). I was going to pick up F.E.A.R., but I read that it erases it's saves on the 360. And I don't have suped up graphics cards to run on PC.

Hey, HEY, I finished Bioshock! :p
...and pretty much have been bugging everyone I know with a PC or console to pick it up. Ridiculously amazing game, though the final Big Bad was a little too easy to beat.
Soooooooo... You're one of the many who have recommended F.E.A.R. Maybe I'll have to pick that one up next...
...
I am currently playing Condemned: Criminal Origins...
aaaaaaaaaaaaand... I am a huge pussy and am totally terrified. I think it was Mothman who said it was scarier than the second one... And he's right. :o

It was build up. there is a lot of fighting clones and blowing shit ip, but even if the rest of the game sucked, the final 20 minutes and closing scene made up for any shortcomings in my opinion.

if you can run directx 9 you can play fear. cards that can show dx9 are old these days, so you might be able too.
And you have added another argument to my list to why consoles suck ;)

I apprently missed your bioshock posts. sorry... Did you beat it as good or bad?
And yes, pick up fear. these days it is just a tad dated, but the gore, action and horror make up for it. it is ridiculously atmospheric. it plays like a horror movie, a well done horror movie.

No need to apologize. Much to my dismay this forum does not revolve around me and my posts. :p
I beat Bioshock as "Good," so I think it really helped me get to a point where I was ultimately a powerhouse and the enemies weren't a real threat to me... Which took some of the challenge out of it. Then again, I was playing it on "easy." hahaha
How about you?
And if you like horror-based video games, have you picked up either of the Condemned games? Bloodshot is pretty damn good and I'm making my way through Criminal Origins now.

I'm playing Crackdown now. I picked it up, and haven't put it down yet. It's a lot of fun, and a lot to do.
