Watched the first three episodes of Alcatraz. Not to bad so far and I can see it's potential. I'd like to see it do more of a equal crossover of the genres. At the moment it's more of a standard cop show and I'd like to see more time given to the prison/mystery aspects. Still early days with it and it'll be interesting to see where it goes.

An odd thing, I got into Breaking Bad and Dexter for the first few seasons and then totally lost interest. Season 4 of True Blood and season 3 of Sons of Anarchy may be my turning points with those 2 series as well. Hell, I got bored with Deadwood by season 3 but I think thats only because I'd get no closure.

The first episode of "Spartacus - Vengeance".
Now, I don't say any of this on account of not liking the "new guy" even though I don't feel that he has the presence Andy Whitfield did.
I didn't really like it.
I loved Blood and Sand, and Gods of the Arena.
This one, something's just happened - the overall quality feels poor, and even actors who have featured previously don't seem to be falling at all back into their old roles, it's as though they have new folks playing them too.
The storyline is "ok" though I have to say I'm not half as taken as I was with the original series or it's prequel.
...I will continue watching in hopes for a rise in quality...

Really lame. Would've worked better if it wasn't a found footage premise. Seeing as the went down that path least have make your "found footage" believable. It's just ridiculous shaking the camera around when there's no way they would bother filming half of this shit in real life. Easily the worst I've seen this aspect handled. This show fucking sucks.

Usually I don't like the found footage/reality type shows. But I like The River. I didn't like it at first. But I think the mystery has me hooked. The unexplored portion of The River, the setting of the old boat, and all the potential things they could find. The last episode reminded me of Raiders of the Lost Ark with the cave and jungle people.
Twilight Zone: Death Ship
Twilight Zone has some really freaky episodes. This is one of them. I vaguely remember watching this episode when I was younger. But the ending gave me shivers. Basically, three space pilots land on a planet and find a crashed ship identical to their own. What follows is a dark nightmare in the words of Rod Serling.

I still like the show but the group needs to get rid of Andrea. What a worthless or just plain lost character. She hasn't really protected the group at all except for when her partner in crime let the zombies out of the barn. Also, nothing has changed with Shane. That last shot of Shane still looking at the wandering zombie tells all. Rick will have to deal with him again eventually.

I caught on to CSI late, I need to go back and start at the beginning but it is a good show. I like CSI Miami more just because at times it feels like the Wild West with Horatio Caine as the law man. But back to the original CSI, Ted Danson's character was borderline incompetent an episode or so ago. It was the case with the guy collecting women's hair before killing them. All of them should have been in protective custody.
I'm watching Lost Girl on Syfy. It's not really scary but it has monsters. The last episode had a scary spider.

The reason you like CSI: Miami is exactly why I don't care for it. The original CSI was showing the science of criminal investigations. It was populated by nerds & misfits, and it showed how police work is a team effort between a lot of different departments. The innovative graphics illustrated scientific principles in a visually interesting manner.
The two other CSIs are just regular cop shows with a modicum of science thrown in to justify the name. At the head is a macho gun tottin' cop who always gets his man. Yawn.

I watched the debut episode of "Awake" last night.
For those that aren't aware of the show, it's about a person living his life across two parallel realities after a traumatic accident.
There's numerous reasons/theories throughout the course of the show as to why the protagonist is experiencing this - and it's quite thought provoking.
It also has elements of the run-of-the-mill crime drama, though makes it interesting with each reality slightly bleeding into the other.
Well acted on all parts, a few familiar faces from Lost, The Practice, that 70's show, the 4400 and the main character himself is of Harry Potter films among other things.
It's got characters that I find myself giving a shit about, and a compelling storyline in which I find myself torn between which reality I want to believe is the "real" one.
It's actually a bit of a tear jerker...deals with pretty devastating loss, and what seems to be a gradual descent into either madness or despair for the main character, ha, didn't think I'd feel for a character as such.
But yeah overall I'm finding it to be a pretty solid concept, and while not treading entirely unfamiliar ground, is doing what it's doing quite well.
Great musical score too.
I'd recommend having a look at the first episode.

It's funny how different the two shows CSI shows are. I've never watched the NY version except for that tie in episode with Dr. Langston. I think Raylan Givens from Justified summed up Miami perfectly when he said something like it's lots of sun with shady people.

I don't want to give spoilers to explain some of the reasons why I hated it so much (as it was mainly the plot and the characterization felt too cliched) but anyway my point was I ADORED the first series and was so excited about the second series but it just failed completely for me, I didn't think the new direction worked however it was brave I suppose. Though yes that pigtailed freaky character was good but not enough to save the series for me.

Yeah, they'd planned on making one after the series was cancelled, just to tie up some loose ends. As of now, the entire cast and creative crew has signed on to do a movie and a short fourth season leading up to the movie. Supposedly it's going to come out next year sometime.

don't think it's getting great reviews....but I think it's a hoot.
Yeah, I've been keeping up with it too. It has been getting kind of shitty reviews, but I enjoy it. It definitely seems to tack on the celebrity guest stars, but those scenes are usually funny enough that it doesn't bother me. The bit with Liam Neeson was hilarious.

I'm watching some of the old Doctor Who series' starting with William Hartnoll first series (1963) which I have never seen before but has recently been remastered and restored since the bbc "lost" the original prints. Really enjoying it so far. William Hartnoll is a lot harsher than some of the camper later doctors.

I watched an episode of "Once Upon a Time" last night.
Every time I start to watch this show and it switches from our reality to the "Fairy Tale" reality, I always think it's kind've schmucky...thoug usually within 5 minutes I'm stuck right into it. I just like the way it's written, put together quite well. I don't really see it lasting beyond a season or two, but it's still an enjoyable watch that I hope we see an adequate conclusion.
What else...saw the final few episodes of "Chuck".
Bit disappointing and sad in one way, though hopeful in others.
I'd say it was actually a pretty good finale though...a couple of really great episodes towards the end made up for a lackluster season.
Even though I feel the show lost a bit of steam after season 3, I still enjoyed it, and will miss seeing the characters.
I might even grab the box set of this one eventually, it's a good, family friendly and fun show.
Just wondering (Sorry if I've missed the posts)
Has anyone here watched Alcatraz?
It looks good and while I'm usually a fan of JJA projects (well, until he abandons them that is) for some reason I'm a little apprehensive about watching this one.
Is it any good?

LOVE this show - The Premier was fantastic. My only "issue" is that 1 hour is waaaaaay too short - I can't wait for next week. ;)
Also, I'm an idiot when it comes to names; I always forget names, which is HUGELY important in the show, so when they introduced Stannis Baratheon and Melisandre, I had to pause the show and ask the boyfriend a million questions:
"Who's that? Who's he talking about? Who's she? What is she doing? WHAT'S GOING ON?!"
LOL - Yep, I'm THAT person. (though to my credit, the cut to the Melisandre scene was a little random)
Great show, though - Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister is so chilling and brilliant - She had some fantastic scenes.
Looking forward to the new season!

Haha, no it's definitely tough keeping all those names straight, especially if you haven't seen the show since the last season finale. Yeah, Stannis and Melisandre (she's craaaazy! That scene where the poor maester dies trying to kill her was great.)
And yeah, the cast is just so wonderful on this show.
Definitely a lot of prep-work and introductions in this episode; it's going to be nuts.
Oh man, and the climax of the episode where the guard was killing all of Robert's illegitimate children was brutal.

I watched a show produced by and starring Steven Segal called "True Justice" pilot episode.
The only other familiar face was a guy that was in a pretty shithouse Heroes rip-off called Alphas that failed in almost every way...
However, I didn't actually mind this show - coming from Seagal I actually watched it just to see how laughably terrible it was, though I thought that among the slew of forever-releasing cop shows, it was actually an alright watch.
The cast isn't anything stellar, but in cop shows that's usually a given.
I might check out episode 2, if she show doesn't get canned by then.

Awake - Episode 6 (The one just before the latest).
I think this show has really found it's groove over the last couple of episodes and while it started strong it faltered for an episode or two...but now, there's some really interesting things going on, and things are starting to collide a bit.
I enjoy watching it, can't wait to see how it turns out.
Also watched the first 2 episodes of "Ultimate Spider-Man".
It IS very kid friendly, but the Ultimate universe has always been a great modern day spin on the Marvel universe, and is more or less what the last few movies have been working with anyways - so I will watch in the hopes it's not yet another spider-man show that gets canned before it's time (Spectacular, the cool digital MTV one).
It's a fun show, I like it enough to grab a few more episodes.
Also watched the first "Alcatraz" episode...not bad...though from what I've read it's unlikely to get a season 2 and ended with something of a cliffhanger.
Kind've makes me want to wait it out until I bother watching any more.
Does anyone have any more info on a potential season 2 or cancellation?

Awake can be hit and miss, the last one I saw wasn't an especially strong episode, though it tends to have minor slumps between great episodes.
I've started watching "American Horror Story".
It's not bad actually...I've seen a lot of hate for this show.
It's unusual. Slightly reminiscent of things like American Gothic (misses...) and various Stephen King works...so I guess that could be the issue for some people, finding that it's a bit too derivative or something.
I've watched three episodes thus far, pretty brutal content when you consider it's coming from the same guys that do "Glee".
The overall storyline, meh.
The past storyline and "history of the house" elements are pretty cool though.
Nice music.
Betty Whites "Off their Rockers".
This is a hidden cam style show that features senior citizens pulling pranks and trying to weird out younger people.
It's pretty easy to sit through, and while I'm not sure why she's in such high demand again over the last couple of years, but Betty is pretty enjoyable to watch. The pranks are "ok" with more of the verbal ones hitting the mark than the physical. Can't help but think it feels a tad staged.
Hm, it's ok "sit back and get stupid" viewing.

Seen 4 episodes and that'll probably be it.
Here's my huge problems with it.
1. It's a haunted house movie but it contains zero atmosphere. They're going for gore instead. Fucking ameicans..
2. All the ghosts looks exactly like living people and new ones keeps turning up each episode, no questions asked from the home owners, like "how the hell did you get into my house?" would be a fairly reasonable question. It's a big house but i don't see there's room for another season of ghosts.
3. Got tired of all the new faces/ghosts each episode instead of focusing on the the few from the pilot. They were interesting enough and deserved more screen time for their charaters to develope. But the obvious concept to add new ghosts to the story each episode just makes it dumber and dumber. Like i started out saying, only seen 4 episodes and i'm already tired of it.
What i did like was the very end of the pilot. A teaser to have the viewer believe there will actually be evil looking ghosts in the future episodes. My ass!
And then of course there's Jessica Lange. Steels the show in every scene she's in. Fuck the ghosts i just wanna see HER teorrising the family.
I have spokeeeen!!

Hope it doesn't just result in a re-curse/reset.
As close as they could get to that, would be....I was actually thinking it would be really interesting if the "real world" personalities, sans "original" memory became trapped in the "whatever they call the other place" for a few episodes, and JUST a few episodes...couldn't carry the whole series.
Not really sure how they're going to work it - like, I at least hope they integrate their new personalities to the old ones, as it would seem an aweful waste of a big part of what's made the show if they just let one take over the other.
Also, I don't know what it is....but Regina?

Now i'm watching The Killing and man is this show ever boring...but i just need to know who killed Rosie! I need to know!

Yeah, I'd give up on that now. It's all pretty much bullshit. I stopped after season 1. Friends of mine that still watch it tell me the killer still hasn't been revealed, and season 2 is almost over.

I really want to stop watching but i just can't until i know who killed her. I think they know that people are gonna keeping watching for just that reason and so they're not bothering to make it better. As soon as they reveal it though, i'm done and if they don't reveal it this season i'm gonna stop anyway.

So you're watching season 2? Is it more of the same filler-on-filler and silly plot twists?

Supernatural season finale. Very lame and an overall crap season. I can't believe they renewed this show and will continue the series as long as possible. It's probably because people like me watch in the hopes that it will get better. I won't make that mistake next year.
Grimm season finale. This is what a season finale should be. Awesome fight scene in the end with a surprise twist. The stuff with the girlfriend was handled well. I believe the show is coming back in a month or so. I can't wait.

It's gotten even worse. They don't even seem to be focusing on Rosie anymore and are giving storylines to people that have nothing to do with the murder at all.

I'm finished with The Killing if they don't resolve this in the next few episodes. I think only 3 are left. At least that's what Mad Men has left. The Indian Casino better not be yet another wild goose chase. Especially after what happened in the last episode.

I was actually just gonna mention that because i just watched the last episode. Honestly i actually hope it is a wild goose chase because if it turns out to be someone predictable which the events at the casino seem to point towards i'm gonna be really upset that i wasted my time for nothing. If anything i want to be surprised since i won't be watching season 3.

Also, after telling you about Twin Peaks the other day, I've been watching the hell out of that show all yesterday and today.

Its funny, now that you mentioned the books. My mom has read them all so whenever me and my dad get excited about something and want to know more or get confused we always go to her and ask her about it lol.
I downloaded both seasons of Twin Peaks. Can't wait to watch it. As i do i'll let you know what i think.

I've really been enjoying The Walking Dead. Especially with the way they ended the second season. I quit watching House when the 3 doctors left/got fired? Can't remember now why they left.

Chase got fired, Foreman didnt want to end up like House and took another job somewhere else and Cameron was fed up with the bullshit.

Continuum, Episode 1.
This was actually a fair bit better than I thought it would be.
About a cop type chick from the future getting dragged back through time with a terrorist cell set for execution, having to track them down before they put their plans into effect.
Cool effects and tech, and the premise was handled effectively.
I mean, it's sci-fi, so who knows how long it'll last...but I'll be watching the next episode. Interesting enough.

This show needs to go off the air fast. The last episode was a joke. I think they pulled this crap last season too with a complete filler episode after something big occurred. I can't remember because the show really sucks for the most part. But it's good a dragging things out and hooking people like me who want to know the answer. If they will ever reveal it.

That's exactly what i was thinking when i watched it. They did that episode the first season where they were looking for Jack.
Last show i watched was Twin Peaks.
Having heard some things about the show and knowing David Lynch's style i was expecting something a lot weirder but it was kind of boring. The characters were eccentric especially Agent Cooper (His arrival was when the episode got better for me) but the acting is terrible and every single person is overacting like crazy. It's really hard to watch. I'm gonna keep watching it though.

Yeah, it was a good episode. The Daenerys storyline was pretty flat the whole season, but oh well. Plenty to explore next time. The finale was pretty anticlimactic on almost all fronts except, of course, the white walker rebellion or whatever, but that didn't bother me. There's enough established conflict going on in all those storylines to imply some serious cliffhangers. Amazing season, though. Overall, they really upped it from season one. Gonna suck waiting nine months for it to return.
Watched Veep, too. I'm loving this show. Fans of Arrested Development especially should really check it out.

Can't believe i'm about to say this, but it was actually a good episode and the way it ended was well done. I've gained some interest again to find out who the killer is. Probably not gonna turn in next season though as i don't know if i want to put myself through the whole mess again but maybe if it ends really well then i might. Still i'm not going to put it all on the strength of this one episode.

I have also only seen like 3 or 4 episodes of American Horror Story. Mostly because the story just seemed all over the place. I have been told by various people that it picks up a bit, so i will likely give it a second chance, but the first few episodes were brutal to watch.
