CHEATERS-Junk, but irresistible junk
Some of those episodes are horror stories. I've seen a bunch that I might be jumbled up a bit. But one of the most striking episodes was when Joey Grecco knocked on a motel room door. I think he said management or something. I don't know how he had the key. But on entering, I kid you not, was a white guy tied to a bed. And here is the craziest part, he was wearing diapers. And it gets even stranger. With him is this giant black woman wearing black leather with a whip. I don't know what that white guy was into but that was a messed up visual.

The Good Place, season 2: ep 1-3
I thought the first season was excellent. Creative, interesting, funny, and the further along in the season, the faster the twists come, where most series are the other way around.
But so far in season 2, I kinda thought the first 3 eps were a mess. A 40 min premier was a bad idea, they just doubled what the 20 would have been, which was redundant. Unfortunately, ep 3 seemed the same as ep 1-2. Seems to be chasing it's tail, nothing new. At least at the end of ep 3 they point to some real changes. I hope they go for it, trust in gutsy fast changes of the 1st season.

Oh the rookie is out?
...I'll watch, in the continued hope Fillion does something half as good as firefly ever again. I doubt this is it, but it looked "ok".
I just saw the ARROW season premiere.
In my mind waaaay better than the Flash premiere, which is weird as I usually enjoy that one a bit more these days...but yeah, Arrow had one hell of a launch.
It's funny - for those that have seen this episode - what they did with the island etc, is a format change I figured they'd eventually have to move on to after so long. It was either that or like "24" it.
But yeah - I liked the episode.
One of the guys from "Freddy vs Jason" played a minor role too.
I remember about 3-4 years before Arrow ever came out, there was talk of a Green Arrow movie that was throwing around "Supermax" as the/part of the title.
Guess we might get to see a bit of how that would have been.
The show remains competent at least...few iffy seasons here and there...but it's kind of one of the ones I just wanna see through to the end.

That's exactly it, it's "just ok". Haven't decided yet if I'll continue watching. I'll probably give it a couple more episodes before I decide. Between Firefly and his stint on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I'm starting to think he'll never get another meaty role!

I spoiled the first season as I was curious about the twist. I still put it on my list to watch one day. The first season isn't on demand anymore. But I'll get around to watching it one day. I guess the twist makes it horror.
I'm almost finished watching the last season of Ash vs Evil Dead and Superstition. I'll post short reviews soon.

Oh, you read about what the twist was for the first season? That's too bad. There's a lot of twists in the first season, not just one, but that last one would change the way you see the whole season.
I think they do a great job examining ethics, with one character being an ethics professor, and Kristen Bell's character does a great job being selfish in everyday life, it's really well done. Unfortunately, the 2nd season has lost it.

Superstition -
I finished up this short Syfy show. There were some good episodes and some iffy ones. Yet it was still better than the three or so seasons of Supernatural I watched before stopping that show. As Superstition was cancelled and it ends on a cliffhanger I can't really recommend it too much. It probably could have been better with more thought to the scope of the story and a bigger budget. I did like the concept for the hero and his funeral base of operations. Actually I guess it's worth a watch for horror fans.
Ash vs Evil Dead -
I concluded season 3 of Ash vs Evil Dead as well. Ash continues to have great lines throughout the series. I need to see that Xena TV show as the actress is really good in this show and was in the Spartacus TV show as well. The last two episodes are pretty epic and I wish we got to see more of the three evil creatures as they are bad ass. But I didn't like the final twist that much since it was a series finale and a teaser or cliffhanger of stuff we won't get to see. Still this is a show I'm adding to my Blu-ray list.

I kind of assumed what the twist was from the title but I still checked the wiki to see what the show was about. Originally I didn't have any intention of watching it.

I know it's not horror but I just watched the episode of Touched By An Angel "Famous Last Words" about a death row inmate who killed his abusive stepfather and regretted everything he did in the very end and asked his mother for forgiveness moments before he died.

This clip kind of reminds me of... have you ever seen the movie Dead Man Walking (1995)? Has Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon. Deathrow inmate Penn has to work through what really happened, who he is, and his beliefs. I thought it was excellent.

And one of the parts that had me crying the most was him mentioning that fishtank his Mama bought him for his 14th birthday and how he wanted her to always remember them looking at it together because that was the last happy moment they shared together before he ran away from home and came back to murder his stepfather. :'(
SPOILERS
Edit: And if you watch the episode itself from the beginning the inmate started off like a wannabe tough guy killer and was telling people how he wanted to become famous for what he did and for the people witnessing his execution to remember his final words (he originally planned to tell them all, including his mother, that he would "see them in Hell").
But in the very end with the help of those 'angels' he started to feel actual remourse for what he did and decided to apologize to the mother of his stepfather and to his mother. He ultimately decided not to waste his final words on trying to become a famous killer to the press but to tell his family how sorry he was and to tell his mother that he loved her very much and wanted to see her in heaven.
In the end it didn't matter what the world thought of him or his crime all that really mattered was that he was forgiven because he truly was sorry. He just wanted to tell his mother that he still loved her and wanted to know that she still loved him too. She walked away happy and refused to tell the reporters what his final words were but said that they were the best words a mama could ever hear. :'(
Man! The actors who played the inmate and his mother in this episode did such a fantastic job in their performance!

Manifest -
I was going to wait until after the October month to start Manifest. But then I saw another commercial and it hit me that the theme reminds me of those old Twilight Zone episodes. There are a bunch of good ones with missing planes, planes in unknown areas, planes on the verge of disaster, etc. And I check the wiki on plane disasters on occasion. Something the average person should never do as you'll end up like that lady in the one Twilight Zone episode. I read this shocking one about blocked ports recently. No survivors.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeroper%C3%BA_Flight_603
Manifest is ok. I watched a few episodes so far. As expected there is drama with the characters and they will slowly reveal the mystery of what happened with the plane. I'll stick with it. The lead actress is cool. In the first episode there are some good close ups where the light shows her really pretty eyes. The guy who plays Charming in Once Upon a Time is in this as well. I'm behind on that show and haven't watched it in 2 or 3 seasons if not more. Also that exotic actress from The Expanse on Syfy is in Manifest as well. I still need to continue watching that show. It was so good I stopped watching so I could watch the full show again along with the second season. That had a horror element as well with a space bio weapon that had a really nasty effect on people.

Channel Zero Dream Door - Episodes 1 - 4
I started up the new season of Channel Zero called Dream Door. I've been watching a few episodes per night. So far it's the best season of Channel Zero. Usually the seasons kind of lose interest for me after the second or third episodes. I was waiting for that to happen with this season. But it keeps up the tension. The villain is really creepy and has a bunch of scary scenes. The premise is that a door somehow shows up in a couple's home. What happens breaks what I call the Eddie Murphy black person horror rule. It was responsible for the recent Get Out movie title. Dream Door also has a white guy doing something completely crazy in the first episode. I would post an image but it would spoil the surprise that's just hilarious.
azCCWPcjkJo
But I like the characters and the situation of the show. The actors do a good job too. There is the guy who played a cop in the previous season as the husband in Dream Door. Also a new actress that I've never seen before plays the wife and the main character. Apparently she's going to be in a new Swamp Thing show as well. So I'll look forward to seeing her in that. She has a nice voice and you care about the predicament she finds herself in. Also Barbara Crampton shows up along with the bad guy from the second season of Helix. He always turns in a good performance.
The person in charge of picking out the locations can really find some nice houses. I love the different home designs and interiors. I did a quick search to attempt to find the locations but wiki and imdb doesn't have it listed yet. I assume somewhere in Canada though since all of the previous seasons were filmed in Manitoba. I saved a few images. I want to find the poster in the main character's entryway for myself.
I found a post on another forum that linked the inspiration story for this season. I'll read it after I finish watching episodes 5 and 6.

Channel Zero Dream Door Episodes 5 & 6 Ending -
I forgot to post this in my earlier Dream Door review but there is a scene in the fourth episode I believe with a werewolf cat! And yes it exists. I'm already set on a breed of cat that I want to get. But if I didn't I would get one of these.
Channel Zero is an odd series. As I've mentioned before all of the previous seasons kind of lose interest for me after the second or third episodes. I think I know why now. Channel Zero is a bit more psychological horror compared to slasher horror. Or at least they don't get the balance as well as a movie like Nightmare on Elm Street. But I think the slasher element of Dream Door is why I like those early episodes so much and why it's the best of the series.
However the last episode was where the show tried to lose me. They had to resolve everything and it just wasn't as good as those early episodes. I think some stuff or elements might even tie into one of the older seasons. I would look it up but I have little interest in revisiting those older seasons. As it stands, I still like Dream Door and if it's on sale one day I might get it for my collection since 75% or so is really good and creepy.

Thus far, I'd watch more.

I guess...kind of like someplace between southland and rookie blue...standard police procedural dramedy. Nice to see Fillion has trimmed up a little, think he got maybe a touch too comfortable in the last few seasons of Castle.

I only saw Alcatraz and Revolution in that list. I stopped Revolution some where in the middle. I don't know why. I'll watch what's left one day. Alcatraz probably deserved to get cancelled. I vaguely remember that show and it seemed to wander and they had the nerve to try and make a shot for shot remake of the Bullitt chase.
Manifest is ok so far. I posted about it during the October month on the HorrorDVDs forum. I can't remember if I did here. I tend to research plane accidents. And I like those old tv shows with plane mysteries and Bermuda Triangle stuff. It's not for the average person though as if you read the wiki on accidents you'll never get on a plane again. So much pilot and human error stuff it's shocking.

BoJack Horseman season 5
This season made me laugh harder than any other so far but like all the other seasons, it also comes with a depressingly hardcore amount of things that make you depressed which is what bothers me about this show. I get that it's supposed to be a dark comedy and it's not meant to be your typical comedy you get an adult cartoon, which in a way is actually good because it makes it unique. I guess it's just one of those shows you have to take the good and the bad. I just feel like the characters are not moving forward whatsoever. It's like they are all doing the exact same kind of things now they were doing in season 1. I don't want to spoil anything for people who watch it and haven't seen this season yet, and I hope this isn't me just getting my hopes up, but considering how the season ended I hope season 6 is going to be a little more on the bright side for once.

You know...I liked both shows but ended up thinking Angel was the superior of the two...a great example of a spin-off with an entirely new location and (most of) cast of characters.
It's really weird how it got cancelled, apparently the ratings were top notch - no doubt it was something to do with Fox and Whedon butting heads...I mean they shut down Firefly because he stood by his character decisions. Lame.
You know...I still remember two scenes with absolute clarity...
Angel trying to smother Wesley, the shit was so abrupt - I was wasted at the time and just watching like "what the fuck is happening???"
Then of course "You are my sunshine"...gah. Killed me.
Even though there was a comic continuation written in part by Whedon, picked up right after the cliffhanger and while it was pretty interesting it wasn't quite the same. I've often hoped they'd make one of those voiced over moving motion comics like "astonishing x-men" on dvd/bluray, will probably never happen though.
I've been watching through season 2 of "The Runaways". I'm thus far liking it a little more than the first one, though yeah they've changed this quite a bit from the source material. It's not the best adaptation, but it doesn't suck.
What else, oh yeah The Orville is back. Entertaining as always, even though I haven't found either of the first two episodes to be hugely stand out.
It's still warm and funny, and super easy to watch.
Again, after seeing McFarlanes other shows...I really admire his restraint he's showed in not making this joke-a-minute.
Anyone else pick up on who the barman was? ::big grin::

I really like it so far. I like things that are original concepts. So sick of remakes, and stealing stuff from the Brits.
They do disguise the singer's voice, so, it's not easy to guess. The reveal this week was pretty funny!

It looked pretty good. I think I watched the first ep way back when, it was free somewhere, but I don't have cable and it wasn't enough to make me want to purchase a subscription. I'd certainly watch commercials with it.
"Set roughly a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series, Discovery explores the Federation–Klingon war while following the crew of the USS Discovery." That sounds like a cool area of time and arc story.
Making it only a decade before the events of the original series sounds like a tough thing to pull off visually. I mean the original series art design was great, but had some flashing lights on consoles and other things that might seem too 'old' or weird for today's viewers. They matching all the art sets the original series had, or something different? How you think they're pulling off the whole Star Trek universe?

They matching all the art sets the original series had, or something different? How you think they're pulling off the whole Star Trek universe?
Look it's clearly visually updated, and the ship itself is kind of...in a grey area, and they've given reason for why it might look a bit newer/different or not having been acknowledged in any other shows set chronologically after it.
Though, the Enterprise does make an appearance, and yes it looks like the "old" Enterprise, with a bit of a kind of "todays technology" look? Like an updated version.
There's a bit of musical homage to the original series, but a score that stands on its own too - kind of a bit like what they did with the "prequel trilogy" SW stuff.
There's also newer versions of some old technology, but balancing that out, we actually get bridge sound effects from the old series thrown in.
As an "original universe" Star Trek fan...I for one don't hate it, but there has been a bit of nitpicking by the fan base, largely based on the "why do they have technology the enterprise didn't" etc.
Tone-wise it's quite different...as you'd have seen from the first episode. We had a focus on one "main" character unlike most ST, we had a mutiny. The start of one of the most notorious wars in ST history. Plenty of death. A main character that through her own actions becomes something of an untrusted outcast.
It doesn't get any more light hearted. It has funny moments but it's a pretty damn dark show. It's not doing lesson of the week type stuff, it's just focussing on the story. It's not really episodic either.
Personally? I think it's some of the best written trek I've ever seen - and the twists they throw at you? Wow.
The acting is right up there for Trek too.
All I can say is I would HIGHLY recommend it, to Trek fans and those that aren't.
You don't need any grounding in the former series to enjoy this.

It's Luther Vandross.
Last watched "The Orville".
Not the latest episode, the one before it.
Treads into some well-worn Star Trek boots (Having to work with an enemy to survive a hostile situation/terrain) but doing well at it.
I've noticed a lot less comedy in this season.
You can tell that McFarlane has wanted to do a show like this for a while (there's even a student "movie" online with a young Seth and friend playing Starfleet officers) when you watch the Orville...he works on the show and as part of the actual cast as well, seems to be having fun - and it's been great to see across both seasons that he's "reeling it in" a bit, we didn't get another carbon copy of Family Guy - We got a heartfelt, and well thought out sci-fi show with a cast that plays really well off each other.
The comedy reduction this season...I think it's that McFarlane may have started to realise that his vision can still be funny, still be interesting and watchable, without an intentionally whacky joke every two minutes.
Honestly?
I feel like we might be seeing Seth McFarlane become like, a "real director" after all these family guy years, I still think this is the best thing he's ever done.
But yeah...still good stuff.
I love DISCOVERY, but this is actually closer to what ST *was*.

I've got 10 seasons of supernatural I bought super cheap on Bluray on a sale, I think about $10AUD (er...I'm guessing about $8USD) each.
I've always thought it looked like a decent show. I've seen the first couple of episodes and yeah, seems watchable. Kind of like a better quality "Grimm".
I'm just kind of waiting on watching it. Too much stuff.
Though yeah I will say - it's run for a hell of a long time now. It's hard to believe that even for the die hard fans this wouldn't have fallen into the "background noise/time killer" category by now.
Right now I'm watching on netflix with my sweet girls, a cartoon called "The Dragon Prince". Season 2 just came out.
I've been quite surprised by the quality of the animated series that have come out on netlflix, I really have - and I've found this one to be one of the most watchable.
It's funny, heartfelt, exciting, colourful...Quite a solid mythos/back story. Mystery and intrigue, a huge division/conflict between two races, and a possibility of peace that hangs in the balance. Good range of characters ranging from heroic to gray area to outright villainous...and a really nice animation style.
I'd recommend this, for adults and kids alike.

Yeah for like the first 5 seasons the show was one of the best on TV. I just checked the wiki and Season 5 is actually where I wish I stopped watching. I believe I watched an episode from season 8 and the tone was all off. More comedy and the show wasn't as dark or spooky as the early seasons.

Always loved the video magazine news of 60min, 20/20, Dateline, etc. But ya, over the last few years Dateline is repetitive on depressing murder stories. Now many many years ago, I think it was Dateline, they'd do excellent murder court cases. Where I'd watch the first half and think, ya, this guy's getting convicted, and then watch the second half, and think, ah ha, there's all the reasonable doubt in the world here. The Orville.
Well...that was some kinda turn of events.
An almost zero comedy episode too.
Part 2 of ^that^.
Holy shit...what a great two parter, and locks in something I have (among many others) been saying for a while now - This show honestly IS the new Star Trek.
It's gone completely there at this stage.
I mean not only does Brannon Braga of Trek Godhood work on the show...
We have one regular cast member played by Penny Johnson (Cassidy Yates - DS9)
We've had Johnathan Frakes (Riker - TNG)
and Robert Duncan McNeill (Tom Paris - Voyager)
both guest direct...
We've had appearances by Robert Picardo (The holo Doctor - Voyager)
James Horan (er...Star Trek EVERYTHING), and an upcoming appearance of Marina Sirtis (Troi - TNG) as well.
Johnathan Frakes has directed/produced some damn quality episodes in this show and the various Trek shows alike, and continues to.
Seth McFarlane himself has appeared on Star Trek, and has been a Trek freak as well...there's even some student film with him and another guy starring in their own Star Trek story. He's clearly got some passion here, and this might be the show that has been waiting for him.
Not that all this means anything too much outside a bit of fandom...but it's nice to see and I don't believe many of the ST folks would take part in something they weren't behind in terms of quality sci-fi, so it's also something of an assurance.
See...I like Discovery...but this show, feels much more like home to my TNG/DS9/VOY level "upbringing" on Star Trek shows.
It's not "lesson of the week" but it does touch on social issues and delve into some thought provoking subject matter - not to mention the many nods and Trek-isms in the episodes, all done well and without being on the nose.
At this point, the shift away from comedy for the last two episodes especially...has worked fucking wonders on the show. It got like...impossibly dark.
It's honestly one I look forward to week after week.

Last night we caught up on a few episodes and "leftover half watched" episodes.
Gotham - I like what they've been doing, though my interest in the show is currently waning. Just got past the episode where *someone* has blown up the "sanctuary". I saw some trailer with ?Bane? in it earlier, could be interesting. Penguin still steals the show.
The Good Doctor - Same old same old. His friend is dying. Few eps behind. Solid enough show, better than I thought it'd be.
Star Trek: Discovery - I like Pike, and that they've finally given us more of a look-in at this long standing character and some of his adventures. This season hasn't quite grabbed me like the last one did but it's still a very watchable show to me, and yeah I'm just glad to be watching Star Trek again...no matter what the nitpicky nerds say.
Russian Doll - This is...a pretty fun show actually. Almost like elements of Groundhog Day and Final Destination mixed in. Unravelling mystery. Started off a bit shallow (but fun) but it's getting a bit into the deep end now. I'm enjoying it.

It was maybe...one of the best spoofs I've ever seen.
Simple. Entertaining.
I guess if it's along similar lines, that could be part of the appeal, for me at least.
In my mind, the "funny" part of Orville, that being most of the first season, probably isn't as good as Galaxy Quest was. It could be just me, but...bit of a high bar.
The "non-funny/darker" part of the show that seems to be striving to just be a competent sci-fi show with occasional laughs, I'd say is...hmm...I really loved Galaxy Quest...maybe not just as good? But good.

Galaxy Quest was a real surprise. Really liked it. I think it's one of the best 'spoofs' too. Allen has actually done a lot of surprisingly good films. I was impressed with Santa Clause as well.
I think I saw all or half of Orville's first ep, and it didn't grab me. When the Cpt reviewed his new lined-up crew, especially the odd/funny alien, I was turned off. Looked like it was going to be what I disliked most about the Star Trek spinoffs, it seemed very cliche and I didn't really find anything particularly funny. So I didn't give it much of a chance, but you go with your tastes.

I get that, and I know this following line is nearly always thrown out to someone that hasn't enjoyed a show, but... "it gets better".
In the first 1-2 episodes, I remember what you're talking about - in fact, I didn't really like the show at this point, it seemed to me like it was Seth McFarlane just doing another one of his shows, but in space...which kind of annoyed me...though I found it inoffensive enough easy watching.
Then, he cut the shit...seems like there was a realisation somewhere that he didn't need to pander to his cartoon audience, and the show started making much more positive strides. Of course there was still a portion of idiot humour - but there was also more character depth, and better storylines.
Season 2?
Keeps on going down the same path, but really. Aside from the cast you'd think it was a different show...major changes have happened with the tone and writing.
I'd say the same thing to you as I did my brother, who like you avoided the show on largely the same reasons (and in the last week has watched all of the show)...give it a chance, even as background noise for a bit. You'll see it improve.
Ha or don't.
Last night we caught up on "The Good Doctor" a bit.
I gotta say, I'm a little tired of them specifically doing the tear-jerker stuff in every. fucking. episode. Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but this fucking emmy bait show manages to get me all the time.
For a medical procedural, it's not bad. Some interesting cases. Some ridiculous ones.
This show is a great example of diverse casting, and they play off each other pretty well.
Never saw "Bates Motel" but the dude does a pretty good job with his character here.
So he's just been fired after having an outburst...this should be interesting moving forward.
The show has a tendency to have characters you really hate for a while...
STAR TREK DISCOVERY.
I'm sorry but did anyone fucking NOT love this episode?
Cements which "universe" this show takes place in (original timeline, cool), and just...it's giving Pike a chance to shine, which aside from short spurts, he's never really had before...and Anson Mount is cast perfectly in my mind.
The actual "previously on Star Trek" footage of the original pilot "The Cage" put a huge grin on my face...and going back to Talos IV...wow.
Anyone who knows their ST knows "what happens in the end" with Pike and Talos IV which is probably one of the nicest and most well done write-offs of a fucked over character in history - but to see the trio and Vena again, was very cool.
...and of course, the inevitable clash between Tyler (which in my mind is one of the most interesting characters in Star Trek history) and the "reborn" Culber didn't disappoint - in fact, the little guy got his fucking shots in, didn't he?
Then in the end, to see how just...lost...both of the characters are in their own skin...kinda sad...but yeah, very well played out scene.
I'm a little tired of seeing how many "Star Trek purists" attack this show...yet something like Enterprise was embraced...it's like, I'm just happy to have Star Trek on tv again. So many nitpickers.

Love the story line going back to Talos4. I was hoping they'd stick with the unisex look of the original Talosians, where you'd had hard time determining if the actors were male or female. The pilot was a fine episode; but I don't remember how it ends. Ill enjoy watching the ep again.
Was well done fight scene. Nice to see a Pet Semetary breakdown. I just assume the doc wants out or off the ship. I remember the actor from My So Called Life. Good actor, but more than not liking the character, the storyline has bored and annoyed me.

To be honest the whole mycelium network stuff has bored me, from this, to Tillys ghost...I think the only interesting thing has been the "spore drive" navigational technology. It's one thing I'm hoping they make less of a focus in future episodes.

Yeah the one with Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Sam Rockwell?
Galaxy Quest.
I actually loved that myself, and I think it's both a good piss-take on relevance/ego and sci-fi shows we've all seen.
But good.
Galaxy Quest. That's it. Maybe I just don't like Star Trek spoofs that much. They seem to be made to make fun of people who like Star Trek. Even Shatner is in on the jokes some times. I remember he also made a cop joke show with Eddie Murphy and Robert De Niro
But I think there are more Star Trek joke shows than Star Wars. Even though both movies series are kind of an in joke now. I don't like the new Star Wars movies. And I've seen the two recent Star Trek movies and I'm not that fond of those either. I'll check out Star Trek Beyond one day but I'm not in a hurry to see it. From what I understand, the performance of that movie + the money demands from the actors potentially shut down the next Star Trek movie.
Perhaps it's just that the themes or feel of the original show & Next Generation bored people who thought they were too smart for that sort of thing. But they are supposed to be moral tales and you never really get too old or smart for those. If so, we wouldn't be fighting wars and having so many pointless political conflicts.
But anyway, I'm old enough to remember Deep Space Nine and how they wanted to show a part of the Star Trek universe that wasn't "perfect" or something to that nature. I never really watched Voyager. I thought it was kind of silly that they found an actress with big boobs to wear a skin tight suit. And that was another show that wanted to show conflict in the Federation and had the guy with Native American tattoos as part of some off shoot group.
I thought Enterprise was a joke in that I remember they didn't even want to put the Star Trek name in the titles at first. Like they wanted a different audience. I only watched a few episodes of that.

I want to see Star Trek Discovery eventually. I saw the the original trailer and it looked pretty good. I heard it was going to be different than the new movies which was a good thing to me. And Michelle Yeoh is in it so at least she should have a good character.

The first say, 5 episodes.
I remember loving this show (til the last couple seasons including the "new" cast)
...and while the main character (JD) can be a little grating at times, it's just a great watch.
Heartfelt and funny, and for as surreal as it can be, definitely throws measures of "real" in too. It's actually quite well written for a comedy of this type, and at a glance you'd think it was just, all buffoonery...but there's depth too.
It's funny to think, even based on these first few episodes that this was created/written by the same guy that later gave us the pretty lacklustre "cougar town"...you wouldn't think so.
Good show. Nice sitting down to it. Very easy watch.

Supernatural is finally going to end.
I remember when Supernatural first started, it was more just 'the monster of the week' kind of series, like The X Files, and Kolchak: The Night Stalker before that. I was getting bored with that, so the story arcs were welcome (It's what kept X Files going too). Liked Super's humor and music, but it got old. I bailed on both shows after a few seasons. Thought X Files was consistently much more entertaining, the humor never got old, had better tension.

What an episode...while I have loved that this season has allowed the Christopher Pike character some much deserved exposure, what happened in this episode both sealed this right into TOS continuity and showed Pike to be one of the most selfless and heroic captains to have ever graced Star Trek.
Tragic, brave, inspiring...the speech he gave himself to carry on and rise to the challenge was...hauntingly amazing.
This show continues to wow me.

X-Files got bad after the movie. I think it was when the T-1000 showed up that the show really went downhill. I stopped watching that one too. I did watch the second movie and it was almost shockingly bad. I still haven't seen the newer recent episodes. I kind of wanted to go back and see the bunch of seasons that I missed. But I'm not sure. I'm not in an X-Files mood right now.
It seems like with many shows and other entertainment things, the people in charge just try to keep it going. Not really having an ultimate objective. So you start to get stuff that doesn't make sense and is out of character. I remember in the second X-Files movie credits they are actually waving at the camera on a boat. The actual characters of Mulder and Scully. How silly is that? It's one thing to have something like the credits of Predator which is a really good B-Type movie. And the credits are like theater performers taking a bow.

I really liked the first film. Thought it was well done. I remember it was about a conspiracy of alien invasion. Was that the one that ended with an underground complex under the snow, and it collapses?
I don't really remember the 2nd film, just watched the trailer, which is in a snowy environment, but it doesn't look familiar. Maybe I'm mixing the end of Believe with the 1st film. ::big grin:: Might have to see those again.
I wasn't a dedicated watcher of the X-files out of the gate. I came late and would just watch from time-to-time. Wasn't until I saw this one funny ep where Mulder and Scully each told their own version of what happened (and the show would show it as flashback with some narration) that I started watching more regularly. That ep really cracked me up.
I don't know if I'd go back and watch it either, but at that point in the show ('telling their own version' ep) it was a good show.
I haven't seen any of the new shows. I see there was 6 eps in 2016, and 10 eps for 2018. If you see one, let me know what you think. The 2016 did well in ratings, strange they skipped a year.

That's it. It was an alien ship that was taking off if I remember correctly. The first movie is pretty good. It kind of feels like a TV movie and not a real movie in parts. But that happens with a lot of TV shows that become movies. When I watched it originally, I felt that it didn't do enough to push the characters into a different place. And I was right as when the TV show started after the movie it still didn't seem like a lot happened even after witnessing a real alien ship. I believe Scully was passed out during that scene as she was just rescued.
The second movie is just bad. They tried to make it a thriller mystery type. It really isn't worth the time.
I started the show late as well. Probably after the first or perhaps second season. But I got a bunch on VHS back then and watched reruns to catch up. It was one of the best shows on TV early on and up to a season or so after the first movie.
If it was a funny episode you watched, that sounds like the vampire episode. Was there a magic fingers bed in the episode?

Mulder and Scully Get Their Stories Straight (Bad Blood Season 5, Episode 12)
Vince Gilligan’s slapstick “Bad Blood” may not be the most romantic hour on the list, but it is one of the sharpest deconstructions of Mulder and Scully’s bond. The partners decide to settle a disagreement over a recent case by retelling it to each other, giving Duchovny and Anderson the chance to spoof their own characters as we see each version of events play out. Inspired by an episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show, “Bad Blood” treats Mulder and Scully like a married sitcom couple, unearthing not only how differently they see the world but how much they enjoy sparring about it.

Wow this show...really took leaps and bounds in season 3.
I'm not sure what changed, different writers or what...the character development was better, still a silly show but they put everyone through their paces.
A fair few of the more memorable and emotionally charged episodes came in here, The second appearance of JDs brother to frankly put Cox in his place, The Michael J Fox OCD episodes, and of course...the one that still hits me to this day...

I thought the show was pleasant enough, some pretty faces, but after watching one I'd wonder why I did, like just left me empty. Didn't serve a purpose for me. Probably sounds like wacky reasoning... cause the reason is basically just entertainment, but I think there's more to it than that, at least for me, and I just didn't get anything out of watching it. I didn't think it was that funny, and didn't teach me anything. Sorry to be a sour apple. ::big grin::

You must be joking as I got to the second or so season and don't recall anything like that in True Blood. I do recall a bunch of news stories about a similar scene with people of the other persuasion in that American Gods show. I don't watch that though.
I just checked IMDB. First season, episode 3. No such scene according to the advisory.

Been catching up on "Arrow" which I've been collecting and kind of putting aside.
I really just don't give two fucks about this show any more to be honest...I kind of want to see how it ends, but the quality nosedived about 3 seasons ago and I'm kind of just waiting for it to die.
Even it's spin-off "The Flash" which I liked better has been wearing a bit thin.
"Legends of Tomorrow" continues to be stupid fun though. Seems it's move away from dark/serious has actually given it an advantage over the other two.

Due to a limited budget. But for a tv show it must have been quite an expensive episode to make.
It was actually exhausting to watch an intense 1 hour and 20 minutes battle.

Yeah, some the battle scenes were needlessly too long. Especially inside the castle with Arya. Which were kinda silly, considering they had just shown her easily killing a ton of dead in the open, so a few inside a library shouldn't be a worry.

The Flash, season finale.
This show...I like it...I think it's risen past the quality of Arrow, though it does suffer for creative and actually interesting villains.
I get it. Can't just be speedsters all the time...the only thing is though? All the ones that haven't been, say last seasons Deveux, and "cicada" aren't uninteresting on their own...but it seems like they make their storylines overly long and involved, and I always get pretty bored of them.
Good episode though. Some feels. Some danger. Decent resolution.
Some ends. Some beginnings.
...and most importantly, he's back...

Although I should say I did enjoy the episode. Actually all of the eps this season. But ya, again, it seemed rushed, but only in the sense I thought they were trying to cover too much ground. Tried twice, first time about a half hour in, second time got to the second episode. Interesting. Looked of quality. But...Both times too stoned. Never knew who the fuck anyone was talking about so I couldn't really follow it.
Though from what I've heard hey went past the events of the source material...could be why the supposed drop in quality.
Makes you wonder, had they made the series after the books had been completed, or kind of released seasons less often, if they'd have made a show that was fully realised and more universally accepted for its conclusion?

I didn't like that Tyrion confronts Dany publicly at that moment, seemed out of sorts. The Tytrion/Jon discussion was OK. Certainly didn't expect Jon would be so direct to kill Dany. Wrapping up Season One of THE DEUCE and while the production values are incredible (the look of early 70's Time Square is fully realized) and good work by the cast means the story is keeping my interest, but nothing for repeat viewings and while this may sound odd coming from Me, many of the scenes of a sexual nature are extremely off putting, particularly when Maggie Gyllenhaal is "watching" a Movie with a "customer" and is interrupted by another member of the audience, not what You would think by this description.
Since the show is about Prostitution/Porn in the early 70's NYC and from HBO, there would be a certain amount of grittiness. But in many of the scenes, it's just too much and wish we had been allowed to imagine what's going on

Almost all the way through Scrubs now, and I'm into the "medical school" kinda episodes, the semi spin-off with the new and semi-new cast.
It's...yeah...as I remembered not as good.
I mean, don't get me wrong - JD and Turk wore thin way before this...
It's just "not as good a show". The cast, I mean that blonde girl that's the new JD? Dave Franco? Horrible.
The female-Cox Denise is "ok" at most, and her love interest is just like a low rent better looking Jake Busey with no real...anything...
Some of the scenarios are funny.
They've all but removed the darker tones and emotional stuff that was sprinkled throughout the older series.
One Janitor replaced with two slapstick security guard characters, Kelso written into a side bit, and Even Cox almost completely changing his character.
The JD "My finale" episodes were pretty damn well done - and this not only invalidates that by bringing him back...but it just gets worse and worse.
Nope.
I'll probably watch this to the end then wrap up my time/s with this show completely. It's still a good show, or at least it was, but it went on too long and crashed and burned at the end.

Luther (Season 5) -
Season 5 is four episodes. I watched one a day until the third episode, which was so good that I couldn't wait till the next day to see the final episode.
I remember posting about this show before and I think a few people watched it here. But for those that don't, I think you should start at the first season. Perhaps watch a season a month. Or wait till the most likely movie and watch them all before seeing the movie. As Season 5 pretty much ends the TV series I would assume. There are many call backs I noticed to previous seasons.
It's a very good show. Worth owning in a box set. I liked the killer's final plan. I don't think I've seen something like that before. The killer's house is nice too. One of those modern glass homes but it's also really cold with concrete and a bunch of surprises. I had to find it to see what it's like in real life.
http://www.85swainslane.co.uk/index.html
Luther is cool as usual. But you know he can only juggle so many problems. I had to look for videos and the wiki for Season 4 as I forgot about some of the events in that one. It's been about 4 years since Season 4 came out.
Still start at the Season 1 or do a bit of a refresh of Season 4 before you start Season 5. I hope they don't take too long on making the movie.

Eventually they will go too far or security will be too slow. One time someone showed me videos of girl fights in I think South America. They were beat downs like you wouldn't believe. I tried to find one of them but can't. I can't remember the site either. But it was just over a cheating boyfriend and the girl who was getting beat was pleading for the other girl to stop. It was pretty bad. I don't know the character of the person that would continue to record and not stop the whole thing. It was on the level if not worse than that Sharkisha fight. But at least that stopped before it got really bad. This South America girl fight continued far more than a few seconds.
