Caught up on Bates Motel. It's still bad. But the horrific thing was how they handled the dog with the taxidermy. I thought animals were simply stuffed. But in the show they removed his skin from his body? I don't know why a person would do that to a pet they cared about or any animal really.

Hannibal.

I'm behind and only just watched the third episode. But this show is getting good now. It's really all about how Hannibal is literally under their nose the whole time. I love his office and the shows settings too. Also, all the characters seem to be settled. I didn't think the gender change on the reporter was a good idea at first but the actress is doing a really good job.

The season finale was good. But not as strong as I expected. I don't know if one of the actors was actually hurt or they wrote his character like that so there could be a twist with the main detective. But this is still a great show. I can't wait for it to come back on. Hopefully soon as I think the seasons are short for this show.

Holy Shit

SPOILERS
I havent read any of the books, specifically so i can watch the show without knowing whats going to happen. Which is hard because i really want to read the books. Anyway i didn't see that coming at all and i really didn't expect it to be so damn horrific. But that's one reason why i love this show. You never know what's going to happen, unless you've read the books of course. My only worry now though is, without Robb, Catelyn, and the rest of the Stark Rebellion there really isn't any opposition for The Lannisters. Sure they still have enemies but only people who are just as evil as they are. I'm not saying i need a hero to root for, obviously i like villains but you can't have a villain without a hero and vice versa. We still have Jon Snow, Bran and Arya from the Stark Family (Let's face it, Sansa's never going to do anything) but they are lost and on their own and dealing with their own problems. They're not gearing up to go against the Lannisters. We also have Dany but she's on the other side of the world and nothing she does connects with the rest of the show. It's like i'm watching two shows. Game of Thrones and Adventures with Khaleesi. Anyway without a major opposition for the main antagonists, i'm worried that something will be lacking. But i was worried after Ned died too so what do i know. This episode was also particularly hard for me to deal with because my girlfriend is pregnant but the last ultrasound they did, they couldn't find a heartbeat and we had to wait a week until today to get another one so for an entire week we were terrified that it would turn out bad. So watching a pregnant woman getting repeatedly stabbed in the stomach did a number on me. Just to add, they located the heartbeat during the ultrasound today and everything turned out fine.

Yeah I can't help but feel they milked it out. Basically the whole storyline could've been done in about 5 episodes. Hopefully season 4 will be better. It was pretty underwhelming.

So far i'm not liking the changes they've made especially to Julia, Junior and Barbie. Junior is supposed to be borderline psychotic and here they made him doe-eyed and doofy. I liked in the book how Barbie was a member of the town, people knew him, he worked at the diner. Here he's a mysterious stranger who may have killed someone. I'm not one for heroes mostly but Barbie was one of my favorite King protagonists along with Stuttering Bill in IT and Stuart Redman in The Stand. I hope they don't ruin his character. I'm gonna try and stop comparing the show to the book and just try and enjoy it because it is a well made and entertaining show so far.

The latest two episodes of the US series of "Wilfred", which I have to say I'm finding considerably less entertaining this season. It's still "ok" but it seems to be leaning a lot further into stupid.

"Rookie Blue", episode 3 of the current season.
Episode 1 was pretty good, 2 was completely forgettable, this one was ok.
It's still a fairly solid show if you're into cop dramas I suppose, though it could do with a little more grit.
It's not a bad fill-in for Southland-less times.

Watched some more "Once Upon a Time".
I may have mentioned I've been going through season 2 which we collected and held off on 'til it had finished airing.
I find myself really rooting for Rumplestiltskin to...I don't know, turn out "ok"?
I find his character has the richest history/backstories and he's probably endured more of an ongoing tragedy than most. Not to mention Carlyle is just so excellent in the role.
I'd say this season is a step up from the first.
It still kind've makes me roll my eyes on occasion with the sickly sweetness of parts of it, but it's a good twist to the things I knew and most of what's new to me turns out to be very well concieved.
Much more rounded characters given than I'd expect.
Thus far, they've broadened the idea of the show significantly...Latest episode I watched was the one you where you found out the guy that crashed his car (played by Ethan Embry who by GOD has aged like a motherfucker) actually has a history in Storybrooke too.
Good series. Some cool additions to the cast.

Been checking out the Masterchef show with Ramsay in it a bit more too.
Run of the mill.
Some nice food and interesting ideas here and there, but REALLY a lot of wanky people. Save the drama, get to the cooking.

Under the Dome -

I didn't think this would be a horror show. But the first episode is horror. At least some of the things that happen. This show is like a TV version of The Mist without the monsters. At least so far. I've been hooked and caught up over the last week. I thought the thing with the pretty blonde girl was far fetched. The guy goes from having a hot girl to going complete insane in literally seconds. Having Britt Robertson all to yourself is ideal but this guy goes to a crazy level I can't believe. Thankfully it seems to be resolved in a so so way even though it went on for probably too long. The rest of the town happenings are really good. Just like The Mist, it's about the characters. And that should make for a good TV show. Especially since I've never read the book and it's all new to me.

666 Park Avenue -

I caught up on this after noticing it was on. It's still a pretty good show. The only problem is, like many shows that get cancelled, the writers have to do stuff that they didn't plan. So they either don't come up with good ideas or they don't care. Thus you get what I call the "quickly resolved situations." Characters and events that happen far too easily and don't make any sense if the characters are remotely competent. Only, one more episode to go. I'm not expecting much now.

Zero Hour -

They put this back on without notice. They didn't even leave it on Comcast or Online so I missed the episodes. So I guess whoever is in charge really hates this show.

Falling Skies -

Still an awesome show. I can't wait for the last few episode surprises. The last episode was really good and I will be shocked if they follow through on what they did.

Not sure if this goes here or in the Last Seen Movie thread. This morning I watched an HBO documentary called "The Cheshire Murders". It's about a case in Connecticut that involves two individuals who raped and murdered a mother and her two daughters. They also beat the shit out of the father and set the house on fire.

I was working in Connecticut when the trials (they were tried separately) were going on. I remember thinking to myself "I hope they get the death penalty". One of them raped an 11 year old girl. The mother was also raped AFTER she was strangled to death. The documentary makes some interesting accusations toward the Cheshire Police, saying they were OUTSIDE THE HOUSE while all this was taking place. One of the individuals had taken the mother to the bank to withdraw money and she had slipped a note to the teller saying her family was being held captive at the house, who gave it to the bank manager, who called the police. Not once did the police knock on the door or try to call the house phone. They said they were following protocol and setting up a perimeter. Please, someone explain this to me. If they had knocked on the door, these senseless deaths (and rapes) could have been avoided. The cops were outside the house for a HALF HOUR!

This is another cancelled show that they finally put back on. It's still not the best show but the pieces are coming together far better than in 666 Park Avenue. The show really does seem to be about Cult themes now and how far their leader will go. The guy who plays the leader of the Cult or secret organization is a great bad guy too. Hopefully he'll get more opportunities as a bad guy after this. I'm curious how it will end after the reveal on the second to last episode.

It's still cancelled. They just showed the rest of the episodes - like they did with Zero Hour.

Yeah I know. But they are finally showing the episodes. And at least they are still up unlike Zero Hour where they showed them and probably only left them up for a week or so. Usually stuff I miss is still available for a month or so.

Yeah but when it re-aired the episode that started didn't stay on for long. So when I went to watch it from the past episode list both on Comcast and online the episode wasn't available. At least not for free.

Cancelled TV Show Finales. Maybe SPOILERS.

When TV shows get cancelled early maybe it's a good thing. Perhaps audiences get that the shows are bad or going no where. Maybe executives can tell the stories are crap. But surely they should have recognized that before giving shows the green light based on plot summaries. These two shows are perfect examples of shows that probably should not have made it to TV. Or the writers needed a far better handle on what was going on both with the characters and behind the scenes.

Cult -

I don't know how they could end this show on a bad cliffhanger with another secretive cult. It seems like they tried to tie some things up and go the predictable route with many things. But also for some crazy reason left other things open. Why? I don't know. I think they were still filming some episodes when the cancellation came in. If not they had to have a feeling things weren't going right when the show was moved to another time slot. Things didn't have to go this way with the plot. But they did. So we are left with a surprise character working with a new secret cult, the open fate of another character, the guy who is pulling the strings is still unseen, and a stupid ending using a phrase that hasn't been mentioned since the early episodes. Pretty pointless. I hope Jessica Lucas picks better projects next time because she was the best thing about this show.

666 Park Avenue -

I liked this show in the beginning. However, just like I mentioned about the 2nd to last episode, things are happening just to tie things up. One character makes a flip so crazy in this finale it doesn't make sense at all. Especially considering the huge reveal, everything that's happened before, and how all the pieces to the puzzle now fit. It makes no sense if you've watched the show from the beginning. In fact it's stupid. It's like the show went from a something that was a bit spooky to something similar to that Devil's Advocate movie. And even then we still don't know for sure if that's who we are dealing with.

Under the Dome - It's kind've interesting but I can't say I find any of the characters (or in some cases the actors) in this show remotely endearing.
I mean sure, it's getting a little weirder and further into the mystery side of things now, but it's still just one of those shows I have an interest in following, but I can generally take it or leave it.

Also watched the entire season of "Orange is the New Black" which I hadn't even heard of until a few days prior to downloading it.
Done by the same chick that did Weeds, though I understand this is a little bit based on a true account?
It's depressing more than anything. The performances vary between wooden and fucking great. I'd say it's a pretty good show, just don't go in expecting another weeds, it steers far further into the ratio of drama to comedy.
Though yeah, quality show. I like it.

Also caught a few episodes of a new-ish animated show called "Axe Cop".
For those of you that like adult swim type cartoons and well...almost dream like logic...check it out, it's stupid as fuck, but pretty funny.

The Killing Finale
Ultimately i'd say that this season was better the first two. It was much more entertaining and Peter Sarsgaard's was amazing. Thankfully i wasn't bored out of my mind like with the other seasons. However the finale to season 2 was much better then this one. By the time they got there, it was pretty obvious who the killer was especially since they kept quickly ruling out all their suspects. Also the aftermath after the reveal was pretty boring, first time this season. Still though i'm hoping for a fourth season.

Falling Skies Finale
Everything seemed pretty rushed. They make such a big deal about going to battle with the aliens and then they just breeze through as well as the other storylines. Still very interesting in next season though as this show just keeps getting better.

I decided to try this after seeing the trailer a bunch of times on Comcast while flipping through channels. The first episode has a horror like twist similar to something out of Saw. I'm pretty sure it's the last season. These three episodes, if last week's episode is any indication, are going to be pretty intense.

I thought the family drama was necessary to try and bring a sense of realism but I can agree that, in some points, it just put a damper on the action and seemed a little bit like filler. I'm actually really digging this season though, I think it's a really dramatic blowout and they did a great job.

Dexter, however...seems to be leading up to the most disappointing sendoff of all time. :(

I think what I like most about this show - besides seeing the incredible talent of these people - is that it's not like most competition shows. There's no bitching, back-stabbing, fighting, etc.

Dexter: I can't believe how awful this show has gotten

Sleepy Hollow: This was really good. It felt like Halloween to me while I was watching it. The holiday, not the movie.

Shame innit. The latest isn't showing here yet but I'm not fussed really after the last series. It got off to such a good start then there was Jaime Murray spicing things up, and Lithgow was a excellent anti-villain, but it's been going downhill since then. Even DDK was bit lame and then all that Dexter and Debs romance nonsense.

They should have kept Doakes alive like in the novels, he was a worthy adversary.

Looking forward to that, although the Burton/Depp one was great imo.

I thought the DDK storyline was OK. Certainly better then Prado and Jordan Price. The shows really gotten bad now that Hannah is the focus.

I can't believe the sendoff it's getting. This show had some pretty incredible, strong seasons. I can't stand Hannah, I can't stand the whole "serial killers falling in love and now the world is bright" thing.

DDK was certainly OK yes, I just expected more considering the material they had to work with... I mean Travis having an "anti-Harry" was a bit obvious I thought, and Gellar was a way better character than Travis anyway.

Is Dex going to quit killing then? Serial Killers Anonymous perhaps? :D

Not necessarily. Hannah McKay is just back, and I hate the Hannah storyline. Every once in awhile, there's a crazy woman that Dexter can "completely be himself around" and they present it as new and interesting material, even though at the third go, it's not anymore.

Lumen was okay, but Hannah annoys me almost as much as Lila.

I'm way behind the times on this, but I started watching The Walking Dead: Season 3 over the weekend. I've finished the first two discs, and so far I'm digging it. I'm glad to finally see how Merle ended up, and The Governor is a damn great villain.

I missed most of the last series so I don't know Hannah at all... it is a bit tired though, the Dexter-and-his-love-life story line : ) I guess they're just trying for a wider appeal, or something... it's a shame they felt the need to let Trinity kill Rita - I think there's much more mileage in Dexter being married than there is in, as you say, itinerant crazy women :)

Although I liked Lila, for one reason or another

Finally caught up on American Horror Story: Asylum

With how off the wall, insane the show was i really wasnt expecting such an emotional ending. It was really well done however i feel like they left a lot of stories unresolved.

Blade Runner is on right now. Last TV show was a little football followed by Broadchurch. Looking forward to Hannibals return though. Watched Sleepy Hollow and I am undecided there.

Series premiere of Sleepy Hollow

I loved it! It held my interest for the entire hour. Thought the acting was good, the pacing was great. After seeing the previews for next week's episode, I'm hooked!

I didn't know this was on already. I saw a few small ads and thought it wasn't coming on till next week sometime.

Watched Sleepy Hallow the other week from my DVR. Can't say this show has a lot of promise. It's not the actors. The dude playing Icabod Crane seems to be convincing and the actress, Nicole Beharie, is fantastic as the deputy sheriff, Abbie (plus she's rather easy on the eyes and that never hurts). Just seems the producers/writers have tried too hard to make this a modernized tale featuring the Headless Horseman. At one point he uses an assault rifle (and I think, also a shotgun in another scene). Since when did the Headless Horseman learn who to use an assault rifle?! Come on!

Well since in this story the Horseman is supposed to be one of the four horseman of the apocalypse, i think it's safe to say he wouldn't be restricted by the knowledge of the time period in which he existed when he fought Ichabod. He's much more then just some ghost, he can learn and adapt. Which will make him a formidable opponent for Ichabod who needs to learn how the world has changed. I think it's fine that they're including those elements because like it or not, it is a modernized tale.

Last couple things I watched:

Dexter - The finale was a total cop out. I tolerated the season, continued to give it a chance but the end was just lazy writing. I was so disappointed.

The Blacklist - Love James Spader and the characters he plays. Can't wait to see the next episode.

Dexter Series Finale:
Wow that was terrible

SPOILERS:
Deb dies off screen, Dexter kills the worst villain the show has ever had, steals deb's body and dumps her in the ocean, leaves his son with a serial killer who isnt even able to discipline his son enough to keep him from nearly killing himself on a treadmill, then drives his boat into a hurricane faking his death and lives out the rest of his days as a lumberjack.

That sounds made up. But that's really how it ends. The show really forgot what it was about. It's supposed to be about a serial killer who works forensic for miami homicide targeting murderers while trying to keep his kills a secret. The whole show should be about him evading the law. The last season should've done what Breaking Bad did and had him figured out and trying to escape. I would've loved to see Dexter vs. a Debra who didnt decide to ignore his kills. That would have been a good ending. Instead we got the Dexter and Hannah love story. Also what was with all those pointless side stories? Its the last season, do we really need to find out about Masuka's daughter and Quinn taking the Sergeant exam? What a waste of a good show.

END OF SPOILERS

Hostages:
Not sure yet how i feel about this one. Gonna give it some time.

Breaking Bad:
Can't wait for the finale

Got up to Season 5 of Doctor Who. Really not sure how to feel about the season or Matt Smith as the doctor. He just seems to play him so silly. The show's kinda felt that way too. I'm gonna keep watching though.

Thanks for Dexter synopsis, that's saved me bothering to watch it! It had such promise when it began, it's such a shame.

I didn't like Matt Smith either at first, but he's grown on me and the stories are pretty good.
