I think the big thing was that they focused so much on the actual revelations and the end of the world, that it basically ending up being about bill pullman trying to save his ex stepson was a monumental let down.

What about Jesus? And the Antichrist? The virgin mother and the false baby? Who the fuck were the cat women? Where did mr lizrd guy go? what about the dagger that was supposed to kill him? Why didnt it? Did they lose it?


The list goes on. In my opinion, raising questions in a story, especially profound ones, and then not answering them is bad writing. Dropping them like they werent even important to begin with (as revelations did), is terrible writing.

It was interesting, well acted, well casted, and very engaging, but the end is THE most important part. Secret Window made that point pretty well.

in todays episode george was trying to film his own monster movie (with younger brother junior dressed as godzilla)
but production wrapped as junior ended up being more of a threat to the cookies than the miniature town.

so George had toi come up with a scarier monster.

as luck would have it (george is extremely lucky) fate and coincidence once again intervened and provided george with an escaped monkey from the circus ..

#1 - The kids start believing they can tell fortunes though the folded paper game they have (pick a colour, l;ick a number ..etc) through a series of coincidences.

#2 - Binky (the tough guy) is challanged to fight this small girl (who is taking tai kwon do) and admits that he's scared - he's never actually been in a fight before - people were always afraid of him because he's big. (i think he's supposed to be a dog ... not really sure)


so the lessons today were :

today's episode :

George and Becky were having a sleepover where George's mom and dad felt they had to entertain the poor kids by doing a bizarre interpretive dance. (dad's a musician and mom's a sculpter - very artsy family)

that failed to impress so dad told a ghost story - which was about their own house.

Of course George and Becky decided to cacth the ghost ... and well .. lets just say there wasnt really a ghost.. just dads snoring going through the vents.

I was a little disapointed because usually George Shrinks pays off and instead of the typical Scooby-Doo ending - sometimes there actually are real space aliens .. etc.

i guess there is no room for the supernatural in George's world.

aha,

i have to explain:

George Shrinks comes on at 8:00am.

on days where he goes to school i have to have him at the daycare by 8:00 because he takes the bus to school and back.

So we only see George Shrinks on alternate days when he only has daycare. (junior kindergarten is either every other day or every day half day.)

On school days the last show we see is Arthur ...

on the weekend it's kind of like a wild card .... could be anything !

today george and the family went on a camping trip ..
these people are very organically and environmentally sound.
a family that knows how to have a good time together.

i'm torn between wishing that they were my mom and dad - and actually wanting to tap George's mom.

todays adventure came when george freed a bullfrog tankled up in a fishing line that was about to be eaten by a large bird.

the frog was so grateful that later, in the climax of the show, he and his bullfrog buddies retrieved the paddle george's dad lost while - you guessed it - going down the creek.

his dad is a musician .. eats and sleeps a lot .. i think he smokes the reefer.(he brought 4 bags of chips along for lunch !!)

I watched a History Channel documentary about hitler. Kinda funny to hear what a fucking coward he was in his last days.

Yep, it's on the Encore Action channel on Fri & Sat mornings at 7 am. I tivo them and watch them later that night.

the art style and music sounds like something you'd see and hear in a teahouse in a 'quaint villiage' where they also sell 'hand made' crafts on a couple of antique wooden tables near the antique wooden counter that holds the antique cash register.

the kind of place where prim proper fat ladies take there moms for an outing... for cucumber sandwiches and lemon tea... so they can pretend they are in high society ..

they drove there in an SUV - the husband took the VW to his golf game with his buddies to escape being around his idiot wife and her dried up prune of a mother.

instead he lusts after the girl (Tammy) who works in the club house ...origionally named the '19th Hole'. He and his buddies admire her tanned long legs and wonder where their youth went .. flirting with the girl and getting polite 'mercy encouragement' knowing deep in their hearts that she wouldnt touch any of them with a ten foot pole ... except for Bryce - who's going through his mid life crisis and convinced that all women, young and old, are hot for him, despite the middle aged paunch, the thinning dome, and the 18 pounds of cheap jewlery he wears. Bryce drinks too much at the club and drives home after. A couple of years from now they'll be pulling him dazed from a car wreck - where he kills a mother and her 2 children but he escapes unscathed.

that was last nite - i didnt see any TV this AM.

i guess i could have gone on to mention that Tammy eventually does sleep with one of the guys after a golf club dance ..

Tammy did like the attention because she didnt get any from her boyfriend - one of the golf pros at the club (who got her the job the pervious summer - it didnt pay much but she was tired of getting her ass grabbed by a bunch of slimeballs at the bar she used to work at - besides - they didnt tip for shit) who was far more into himself than he could ever be of someone else. Still hung up on his failures his near miss at being on the pro circuit. Sure he won a few regional tourneys but when it came to competing on a national level his nerves got so bad he choked.
If you sit long enough near him you'll sooner or later hear him lament about his bad luck and how some day he'll make a comeback.

So anyway - during one particularily bad weekend Tammy decided to work the bar at the Golf Club summer dance and ended up matching one of the middle age gang (Bill - who was always very sweet to her - unlike that pig Bryce) drink for drink.
Bill offered to drive her home. Bill's wife didnt come - Bill said - because of a bad headache - but in fact she left with the kids 1 month earlier - tired of the 'just scraping by lifestyle' instead of the life of luxury she desperately wanted. She'd had a couple of affairs - one with Bryce - and was now with a younger guy who was pretending to have money and will eventually leave her and her kids in a lurch once he runs out of interest in a couple more weeks)
So there's sweet Bill and tipsy Tammy - who stop in front of her apartment and chat for a bit ... and in her drunken state tells Bill all about her troubles, which leads to him comforting her, which leads to the first kiss, followed by an invite to her apartment.

akward sex insues - Tammy becomes sober and ashamed 1/2 way through the act, Bill apologizes and leaves, and never returns to the club - except for a work event several years later only to find that Tammy quit and left town that very same weekend. Bill thought he saw her several years later - but that was impossible - it was just a fleetingly similar looking girl - at the same age Tammy was when he last saw her.

Bill is still alone. His Wife and kids returned for a few months but left again soon after that when the next guy came along with a fast story, lies and promises.

Tammy's golf pro ex boyfriend eventually hooked up with an older cougar type - an alcoholic that hit him when she was drunk. He's doing 5 years in State for hitting back.


No one knows where Tammy ended up.

Christopher Eccleston, who played Charles Stewart in The Others, plays the Doctor, and he is friggin amazing, not that I have anything to compare him to. Absolutly hilarious. The effects are good, the storylines are cheesy but fun....I love it!
