It's been a decade of decay, decadence, death and delight over at Universal Studios Hollywood Theme Park — every October without fail, they put on the best spooky show celebrating the genre's darkest, then unveil their always new haunted mazes and trams of terror.

For 2009, now teamed with Chiller, Universal honored Rob Zombie, Tobin Bell, Noah Segan and Rick Baker. Guest celebs at the awards show included emcee Corey Feldman, presenters Danielle Harris and Tanedra Howard, Saw VI scribes Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, 2001 Maniacs: Beverly Hellbillies director Tim Sullivan and cast Bill Moseley, Ogre, Lin Shaye, Christa Campbell and Ryan Fleming. Newly devised and designed mazes and byways include Saw: Game Over, Halloween: The Life and Crimes of Michael Myers, My Bloody Valentine: Be Mine 4 Ever, and six new scare zones including The Terror Tram.

First off, we covered the red carpet and got to interview the stars as they arrived (video coming soon!), then went inside the gala hall to see the show, which lasted a succinct and snappy 45 minutes. After that it was off to the mazes. I got to tag along with the 2001 Maniacs (well, four or five of them; but still some maniacs are better than none), and I barely escaped with my high heels and journalistic integrity intact. It was a lot of fun, and I could write about it forever, but I'll just pull a vintage Rod Stewart here and say "every picture tells a story" — enjoy!
