HDC Classic Horror Film Thread Directory

I have begun a project to help alleviate the confusion(and, hopefully cut down on duplicate threads) in the film forums. This project will concentrate on film collation thru out the forum. Eventually, it can blossom out into threads about individual personalities, and other topics, if anyone is interested in tackling it. But the movie threads seem to be the biggest problem, in regards to duplication. Since I have never been able to get the search engine to work here, I assume others haven’t either.

This initial list includes all films listed by the inclusion of the film title in the title of the thread. So there are probably a few threads I’ve elided over with certain films being discussed. I have also provided duplicate addresses for threads involving 2 or more films in one thread, wherever possible. I have also include film titles that clearly are miscategorized, but still reside in Classic Horror. Those listings will be edited out and moved, once I begin the Modern Horror section(even if they aren’t moved by a mod/admin). I have also, not checked to see whether some of the films listed, are re-makes, nor have I distinguished films by date, YET. That will involve fine tuning down the road. For now, getting the titles and URLs of the threads are the priority.

Currently, I need volunteers, if anyone’s interested. Off-Topic needs to be gone thru, as it contains many film titles long forgotten(500+ pages worth). It’s best to start at the back, and work your way forward. If someone wants to tackle modern, and another classic films, it will cut the workload down substantially for each of you. I need volunteers to proof each list as it progresses, for link errors, typos, url dupes, etc. Also, I will need help with dating(and separating films with identical titles, made in the same year, ie. Dracula 1931- English and Spanish version, etc.) the listings. Simply post your updates and lists here, for now(likewise with the other categories being worked on). Try to collate your listings in alphabetized order, and please eliminate the word “THE” from the title, otherwise we’ll end up with 50,000 films listed under T.

Upon completion, these directories will be fairly simple to maintain and update. Remember, you can help, or gripe about chronic mispostings for eternity. And wait till I get it done by myself. Hopefully these listings will receive a sticky.

Well, rather than wasting my time waiting for you lifers to drizzle amicability down upon my head, like urine from a gnat's pecker, or posting in idiotic threads about someone's 2 week membership anniversary, I decided to do something positive and helpful for a forum I'm growing to enjoy. Why don't YOU try it sometime. And the fact that it never was done before I came along, makes me wonder WHO the nOObs really are around here.

Unless of course, YOUR sole purpose here is to bitch at new members for making dupe threads.

As far as what a new member will or will not do, at least if they don't read these before posting a thread, you'll have a legitimate gripe. As far as some jealousy aspect(which I'm smelling here), I'll be more than happy to turn these threads over to anyone of you lords of the manor, upon completion. Even let you have authorship. Bask in the glory(:ppshaw). Scuttle the originals if you want. Then YOU can maintain them. But for the time being, let's git er done.

It looks pretty useful, actually. I hate having to use the search thing and nobody ever thinks to. So, instead of forcing people to use the neglected search button, why not actually have an index for people to find the movie they're looking for? Maybe it's kind of a Rube Goldberg solution, but it's not without merit. Is it really that fun to poke people about their thread having been posted already three years ago? If V had done this, he'd have been heartily praised, but as he did not and this "n00b" (who's been pretty damn productive and knows what he's talking about as well as actively talking about horror) did. So why not show some respect? Efficiency doesn't rock the boat and we could be a friendlier place for it.

Thanks, I've pretty much finished Classic and Asian section collation, and plan to head into the Modern category tomorrow. There are approximately 700 pages of threads to pour thru. Once I have the Modern category finished, I'll start moving errant threads to the proper category(would probably be wise to alert a mod, so they can move the thread where it belongs, now, while it's easy to find). General Discussion looks fairly easy, as there usually are only 2 or 3 films per page. Unfortunately, there's 500+ pages.

I think I love you. I was seriously scrolling through the General Forum yesterday and thinking to myself, "My this place has certainly gotten insipid recently."

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed (and to clarify I am NOT being sarcastic here).

Festered - You're one of my new favorite people. I think that this is a great exercise and that Doc's right - If someone like V had done it, he would have been EXTOLLED for his work.

I think that a "Movie Index" is a great idea - and this is a good start (how 'BOUT it, MODS... Add an index to the site?? Eh? EH???)

Mods can't add things to the site/forums sadly. That's why it's been an issue that Horror himself isn't here for us, because he's the sole person who can make changes like that. Our mods just regulate threads/bans.

This is a great idea, and wonderfully and efficiently done, Festered.

I am really glad someone actually thought of it and went through dozens of hundreds of pages to make such a indexed reference thread. You get a big round of applause from me for this effort.

Thanks for that zwoti. Still looking for those volunteers to date the films, double check titles and stuff. Japanese is pretty much ready for that, with a couple titles in Modern that need to be transferred. I should have approximately 500 new titles in Modern before Friday.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Phase one of this project is complete. All threads clearly marked with a film title, in this category have been catalogued. Phase 2 now begins. I need volunteers for the following chores-

Experts in each category(Japanese/Asian, Classic and Modern) to cross-reference the other 2 categories and hunt down miscategorized titles.

Experts on franchises- to correct film titles(Is it Saturday the 14th: The Reckoning or Saturday the 14th Part 2 or II ?) and to separate originals from the re-makes(these can be distinguished either with dates or an “R” tag).

Proofreaders to check for mis-spelled film titles and to check for broken links.

Reformatting- want suggestions on how to make the lists more legible, with the least amount of work. Colored title or link text, tables, spacing, etc. Each post only allows 10000 characters, so the addition of numbering will chew up too much room, necessary down the road. Remember, if you reformat a list in Word, there’s a possibility that you may alter or rearrange the links, so be careful.

You can submit corrections either by pm or in a post. Submit miscategorizations in a post, so the mods are aware of threads that need moving. Submit corrections and alterations in the exact same format please- title and link- otherwise I’ll have to track it down myself, which will create more work than save.

I want to thank everyone who has offered encouraging support for this and any future help on it, and even those who tried to sabotage it(wanted to make sure nobody could, so you helped check my safeguards). I have a master copy of it, so it’s pretty much bulletproof now.
