Vodka and Ginger beer, I can't believe I have never mixed these two drinks before!
I'm a micro brew man myself. Love anything micro-brewed, especially from Stone Brewery and my local LBC brewery. Old Arrogant Bastand and Black-angus Oatmeal Stouts for the win!
But, I am in college and I'm poor as hell. So I tend to stick with my malts (colt 45, wild cats, ide, etc) and my dirty thirties (busch, keyston, icehouse...anything that has an "ICE" variant).

Is there anything strong enough to heal a broken heart??
Love
You say that you can't take it anymore
Someone hurt you and so you close the door
Put the lock on your heart and hide the key
Gonna build yourself a wall of stone
Gonna live there inside it all alone
And you say love's the last thing that you need.
But every drop of rain that falls
Makes a flower grow
Don't give up now, don't give up now
Baby, don't you know.
Only love - can leave you twisted inside
Only love - can make you glad you're alive
Only love - can mend a heart or break it
Only love - can make the tears tumble down
Only love - can turn your whole world around
So you sacrifice your trusting soul
So you can maintain complete control
When you're cold as ice you can't get burned
There's a chance you'll break each time you fall
But when you lose your faith, you lose it all
And it's gonna get lonely in your world.
But every drop of rain that falls
Makes a flower grow
Don't give up now, don't give up now
Baby, don't you know.
Only love - can leave you twisted inside
Only love - can make you glad you're alive
Only love - can mend a heart or break it
Only love - you can't keep running away
Only love - you're gonna need it someday
Only love - don't you know that's what we're here for.
Only love - can mend a heart or break it
Only love.

I'm drinking some cheap Asti shit cause I am boycotting my wine store.
I found my favorite sparkling wine Marenco Moscato d'Asti Scrapona at this Liquor Outlet Wine Cellers- http://liqouroutletwinecellers.com for $14.95!
Anyway:
Get this shit... my local wine shop started out selling this stuff ( Scrapona) for $16.99...which IMO is not bad for this amazing wine, then they realize they have a hit on their hands and jack the price up to $19.95.
So, I decide not to buy it anymore out of principle...I just recently went to check out some new German sweet reds and those jackasses had MY wine at $24 a bottle.
I bought nothing and told them I'm going to the next town and buying a CASE for $16 bucks a pop plus a 10% discount. Of course I was lying.

no, but people want to believe it.
Truth is that hops and hemp come from the same family and have similar properties. As such, hopcones can be replaced by non-thc bearing hempbuds (but I've had homebrews done with really yummy weed that were outstanding) as a natural preservative and bitterness agent.
it's simply a great tasting beer made (like all great artisinal food & drink) bearing the flavors of the local flora.

Great brew! Now all I need is a Yule Log, a warm fireplace, and some mittens and I'll totally be in the holiday spirit.
Oh, and some snow would be nice, too.

Drinking a classic jack & coke at the moment deciding on what I should drink for my buddies 21st this weekend... any suggestions? I'm looking for a beer that isn't TOO espensive but will get me hammered and not taste terrible... even if it comes back up.

If you want a beer that will actually affect you go with a canadian brewery :P

Well, like Rod said, I love the snow, but not the complications that come with it. It's just so much easier for me to get into the spirit of the season when there's a fresh blanket outside.
Ah, yes! Definitely let me know if you pick that up on your "special" trip. :D
Some more that you should definitely look for:
Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale, Imperial Stout, or Taddy Porter
Anchor Steam Beer, Porter, or Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Yes! The Unibroue out of Chambly, Quebec makes some wonderful brews. Some of my favorites, actually.

I had a few St. Arnold Christmas Ale's last night. That beer has a bite to it! Felt like hard liquor going down. But after I choked down the first one the rest were hardly noticeable.
I wish they had Pumpkin Ale all year long. I'm going to miss it:(
OK fortunato...I went to the store....and they did have that brew....but it was 10fuckingdollars for 1.......I ain't got your kinda money bro....:(
I'll pay $10 for a six pack....but not for 1 bottle....sure it was a 22 ounce bottle....but thats still a little steep.

What?!
Holy crap, it's only $2.40 or so per bottle at the store by me.
That's insane! I don't blame you for not paying that. I wouldn't either.
Bummer, though. Hopefully you can come across one that doesn't cost its weight in gold.

If you've ever had Sangria, you probably don't think much of it. Sangria is a wine punch originally intended to be made using the cheapest wine you could get, combined with a bit of some kind of liquor and cheap fruit- whatever was on hand, and often was old and about to go bad, and some sweetener to make it all palatable. It was intended to get you drunk as cheaply as possible. It was intended as a party drink, to be made at home with whatever was on hand. Sangria sold in bars is often just wine mixed with lemonade and some citrus soft drink. Pretty gross. However, in this day and age Sangria has taken on a sophistication it was never meant to have and interesting recipes abound.
Last year I was going to a Thanksgiving party and I hit upon the idea of making Sangria. I researched about 50 recipes on the Internet and then came up with my own variation. Surprisingly, it was a hit! A fluke, I thought. Beginners luck! This year I went to the same party and thought I would try to make the same recipe again. It worked! It tastes wonderful and will get you plenty drunk. With many more holiday parties looming I thought I would share the recipe with those who might be interested.
INGREDIENTS:
1.5 litre bottle of a good Merlot. I like using Merlot because of its full body. Find one that's fairly mellow- not too acidic. High alcohol content helps- 13-17%.
1 bottle Mr. Boston Cherry Flavored Brandy
1 cup sugar
1 bottle sparkling water- I use a flavored water, cherry or strawberry.
3-4 tangerines or mandarin oranges- get them fresh, not canned
1 pound strawberries- I use the kind that come frozen in a carton. If you use fresh strawberries, use more than a pound.
1 package (10-12 ounces) frozen raspberries.
Ice cubes.
NOW ON WITH THE FUN:
Pour about 1/3 of the bottle of Merlot in a big punch bowl. Slowly add the sugar and mix with a wooden spoon until the sugar is dissolved. Poor in the rest of the Merlot and Brandy. Mix with the wooden spoon. Peel and section the mandarins/tangerines and throw them in the bowl. Add the strawberries & raspberries. Put the bowl in the refrigerator and let chill for several hours. At least two. The longer the better, so the fruit can infuse with the alcohol.
When you're ready to serve- after dinner or with desert is a perfect time- remove the bowl from the fridge. Using the wooden spoon, take some of the fruit from the bowl and put it in the bottom of each glass (use clear glasses- this drink is beautiful to look at). Put a couple ice cubes in each glass. Using a ladle or spare glass pour some of the Sangria into each glass- 3/4 to 4/5 full. Top off each glass with some of the sparkling water. Serve & ENJOY!
Make sure you eat the fruit at the end- it tastes great!

Blindly followed a coctail recipe containing half ´n half of champaigne and Guinnes (Beer). Don't ever, EVER try that at home kids. Disgusting!!

That sangria recipe sounds pretty good....I'm gonna have to make that some time.

I may try that recipe some time. I actually love Sangria. There's a place in Saint Louis called Guido's that makes it better than any I've ever had before, and every time I go I end up killing a pitcher myself :o. I like to eat the soft orange peels.

I've seen Duvel in the shops but not tried it, what is it like, I don't like the label, I guess that a rather shallow reason for not trying it, but hell it's the first impresion.
Where as the the St Peters, I haven't had the one you did, but I buy this one occasionally ,..

I've not had that one. The one I got was quite good, though. Certainly not the best porter I've ever had (this one was actually a little light), but definitely worth trying.
Duvel is by far one of the best brews ever. Seriously, I'm not even going to say anything about it. Definitely pick one up next time you can and let me know what you think.
