Been listening to the new Amon Amarth cd "With Oden On Our Side" constantly lately, probably the greatest album to come out last year...

I highly recomend checking this album out...

Jurassic 5 - Feedback.
I've heard some of their older stuff, and always thought that maybe they were a bit of an inspiration to newer acts like B.E.P, never listened to a whole album.
So, DL'd this one...it's pretty good stuff.
They're pretty oldskool, and their experience in the industry shows. It's a funky, laid-back FUN hiphop/rap album from a group that doesn't need to fall back on the lyrical styles and content of whatever flavour is in right now. They do their own thing, they have a great sound, none of their stuff is offensive or violent (the n-bomb gets thrown around a few times, but not in a "fuck you" kinda way)...they even make a point in one of their tracks that THAT kind've shit is largely a poor reflection of the whole rap.hiphop game, Which only puts a bad light on the whole style by endorsing ignorant views..."where we at" I think the track's called.
Anyways, a good solid listen - Great party music, for sure.
It's pretty "back in the day"... in that they got stories to tell and messages to get around, and it's real refreshing that these guys aren't yet another rap/hiphop group that does nothing but front. They throw around reflective lyrics and themes, and a lot of thought and effort has been put into this, for sure. Oldskool kept fresh.
If you can just enjoy good flows and beats, you WILL like this album.

It's Killer. Only two bad songs. All of Eugene Kelly's songs are good. "You think you're a man" is god awful.

There album is amazing and deserves more praise. It sucks because I can't find anything else from there career.

"Dum-Dum" and "The day I was a Horse" are my two favorite songs.

I bought Crass The Feeding of the 5000
I wasn't too happy with it. Penis Envy is a great album. What other Crass albums are good ?

Really? I fucking love Feeding of the 5000. Stations Of The Crass is pretty cool you'll dig the song Walls (Fun In The Oven) if you like Penis Envy. Yes, Sir I Will is pretty cool really abrasive and weird in parts (but I wouldn't recomend if you didn't like 5000). I've got Christ: The Album on its way to me which I haven't heard before.

You should check out Flux Of Pink Indians' Strive To Survive/Neu Smell CD its just about my favorite old school punk album. There a bit more accessable than Crass and have some really great tunes, kinda reminds me of Fugazi in parts because of the bass lines.

The last FREEDOM CALLL album - Not as good as their former 4 albums, but has at least two songs i'll get to love. 7/10

The last Manowar album - Surprisingly good and kinda original. Where their last album was very much cliche (except for my favorite song "Nessun Dorma") this album reminds me much more of the "The Triumph of Steel" album. The whole album is a concept album and kind of a tribute to the old nordic gods. Funny enough, again, my favorite number is the most silent song of them all, the choir song "Army of the dead"which rightfully is being repeated 3 times on the album. Simply beautiful. But the following song "Sleipner" is also a strong song that i love already after the first listening. 8/10

The last MEGADETH - VERY disappointing. I don't know if it's the lack of Marty Friedman's excellent guitar riffs or if it's just Mustaine getting old and tired. But this album didn't consist of a single song or riff that i can remember now. It was just plain... 4/10

Not like it's new news or anything but still into Icky Thump

Right now i'm really starting to like:

Little Cream Soda

Well every highway that I go down
Seems to be longer than the last one that I knew about
Oh well

And every girl that I walk around
Seems to be more of an illusion than the last one I found
Oh well

And this old man in front of me wearing canes and ruby rings
And it's like a dang explosion when he sings

And with every chance to set himself on fire,
He just ends up doin' the same thing

Well, each beautiful thing I come across
Tells me to stop moving and shake this riddle off
Oh well

And there was a time when all I wanted
Was my ice cream colder and a little cream soda
Oh well, oh well

And a wooden box and an alley full of rocks
Was all I had to care about
Oh well, oh well, oh well

Now my mind is filled with rubber tires and forest fires
And whether I'm a liar
And lots of other situations
Where I don't know what to do
At which time God screams to me
There's nothing left for me to tell you
Nothing left for me to tell you
Nothing left
Oh well, oh well, oh well, oh well
Oh well, oh well, oh well, oh well

I got three new albums this week:

The Essential Little Richard – haven’t listened yet, but it’s full of awesome songs we all know.

Oh The Wind and Rain, by Jody Stecher – a good album of traditional ballads. I love his version of Oh the Wind and Rain. It’s the inspiration for an upcoming Split Lip horror comic (http://www.webcomicsnation.com/splitlip).

Live at Jake’s, by Sharks Come Cruisin’ – a local Providence band that plays rocked-up versions of sea shanties. Have a hint of Flogging Molly in their sound. I just discovered them and dig them a bunch.

CrimsonFiend138

Correct, I'm not a metalhead. As far as my taste in music you wouldn't have a clue would you. I highly doubt Dio era has better lyrics and they definatly don't sound better. Just like you like Dio's voice better I can't stand singers like that...with some few exceptions plus solo ozzy and dio are too 80's for me

Liar,liar
01-11-2008, 08:09 PM

well you can't wait more from ol' Ozzy, he is not the better heavy metal singer but

For the past couple days I've been listening to Zombie (White & Rob) in the car. It's funny because his albums seem to progress like horror films. The albums start raw and powerful and then transition into something more polished and well plotted. There's some obscure stuff thrown in there with Super Sexy Swingin' Sounds and then as Rob goes solo he utilizes more modern techniques but still adds his own style. With Educated horses Zombie seems to try and get back to his roots, almost an homage to his own older material. Maybe I'm just crazy though. I like the music, last one I listened to was Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie doing Feed my Frankenstein.

I think Rob Zombie's music has gotten worse as it progresses... La Sexorcisto was amazing but its downhill from there IMO.

The Complete Sun Recordings, Vol. 1, by Jerry Lee Lewis. The Killer’s earliest recordings for the legendary Sun Records. Good stuff.

Steady Diet of Nothing, by Fugazi – Maybe my least favorite Fugazi album, but worth having to have all their records and be able to understand better the transition from the early punk recordings to the totally other, totally awesome band they became.

On Juhu Beach, an old Mountain Goats EP I’d never heard of but that just showed up on iTunes. It’s old, so it’s the lo-fi style, and not as refined as the later songs, but one or two of these 5 are pretty good.

Mayors of the Moon, by Jon Langford and the Sadies. Alt.country/rock for the Mekons/Waco Brothers’ Langford and backing band extraordinaire The Sadies. Haven’t listened too closely yet, but liking what I’ve heard so far.
