Stand-up comedy
Who are your favorites?
What kind of style do you prefer? Anyone you dislike for any reason? Any other thoughts? Anything else? My favorites: -George Carlin: the king. Not all his shows are equally good but they're all better than average/great. -Bill Hicks: the angry philospher. One of my personal favorites. -Doug Stanhope: same as the above and my current favorite. The man truly doesn't give a damn. (Chain) smoker, alcoholic, drug user, herpes carrier,... -Rodney Dangerfield: the album, not the video, No Respect is pure perfection. His self-deprecating style is amazing. -Jimmy Carr: bit like Carlin but less philosophical. He's recorded 8 shows and they're all good/great. Quite an achievement imo. -Richard Pryor: best black comedian ever? Probably. -Billy Connolly: lovely storyteller. His tales about his adventures from back in the day are fantastic. -Eddie Izzard: ADHD transvestite -Christopher Titus: -Mitch Hedberg: Real dry humour and brilliant plays on words. -Stewart Francis: Bit of a punmaster. His first show had me in tears. -Bernard Manning: a fat, racist bastard but the man knows some great jokes and delivers them perfectly. -Roy Chubby Brown: same as the above but more vulgar and a little less funny. -Jim Jefferies: bit different now that he's sober(ish) but still one of the best ones of the moment. -Frankie Boyle: brutal -Jackie Mason: the ultimate jew. I just love the man's style. -Dylan Moran: Irish, wino, intellectual. -Kevin Bridges: Scottish, -Sarah Millican: funniest female of the moment -Chris Rock: his first two or three shows are great, then he kinda went downhill. -John Bishop: nice guy, family guy -Anthony Jeselnik: Brutal and evil jokes but oh so funny. -Andrew Dice Clay: he reminds me of a sleazy version of the Fonz. -Dave Chappelle: love his point of view on things. Too bad he quit but he also went muslim. When a person starts having an imaginary friend, I tend to lose interest. -Steven Wright -Jim Gaffigan -Patrice O' Neal The following ones I like but they're no favorites. I still think they're good but I don't like them as much as the above: -Robin Williams: his early material is great. Sadly enough he became less funny when he got sober. -Ahmed Ahmed: "Hello, my name is Ahmed Ahmed and I can't fly anywhere." Arab roots, jokes about Muslims. Respect. -Omid Djalili: His first show is great. The others not so much. His sketch wasn't bad either. -Russell Peters: Has great bits, but his racial stuff is starting too get old. -Josie Long: has a lovely positive vibe thing going on -Louis C.K.: he's really good but there's something off. Don't know why but I don't find him that rememorable. -Aziz Anzari: has some great material but seems to be going downhill. -Hannibal Buress: this guy is on his way to become one of my favorites. I love the fact that he's not always talking about racial differences and that he's pretty laid back. -Lewis Black: love his fury and grumpy old man attitude, don't care for his political stuff. Dislikes. I don't hate them. They even have good jokes sometimes. But they all have something that bothers me. -Dane Cook: I'll give out a couple of links that show what I mean. But what it comes down to is that he's too much. -Michael McIntyre: He's not that bad but his observational comedy is kinda bland. Also heard he has writers. That's plural. -Jeff Dunham: ventriloquists suck. Period! -Denis Leary: I liked him until I discovered he stole a lot of Bill Hicks after he died. So fuck him. -Amy Schumer: She doesn't seem like a bad person and I don't hate her but her style is quite lame. Nothing but cheap jokes about relationships and sex. It's not that women can't be funny (Sarah Millican, Lucy Porter, Josie Long,...) but she's like a black comedian that keeps talking/joking about racial differences. -All comedians that unnecessary swear, yell, move,... Favorites:
Brian Regan Bill Burr Mitch Hedberg Ricky Gervais Some danish comedians I'm not gonna bother mentioning Dislikes: All the rest Amy is just like all other stand-up women, mostly fixated on sex and the region below the belt. I honestly don't know why that is.

I hate stand up comedy. I really have no idea why, but the idea of a person standing in front of a room of people and telling jokes just puts me on edge. I like comedy films and I loooooove funny people, but stand ups, not at fucking all.

Forgot about him. I like his style.
And I love his bits on food. Especially the one seafood. Quote:
![]() That's almost like saying you don't like to laugh. There are a lot of different styles. You got the typical jokers, storytellers, observational comedy, self deprecating comedy, philosphers,... Maybe you just haven't found the right person yet. ![]() Give this guy a couple of minutes: http://www.solarmovie.ac/watch-stewa...10-online.html Last edited by Baron Von Marlon; 01-13-2016 at 11:42 AM. |

I have a guilty pleasure for stand up comedy. I listen to it at work through my bluetooth to help keep my spirits up and pass the time, and omg is it funny when people give me odd looks for "laughing at myself". My comedy station is perfect with all my favorites on it, and adding more frequently as I find them.
Favorites being: - George Carlin (The more I clean up after stupid people for piss poor pay the more I feel my inner George Carlin come out.) - Daniel Tosh (He tells it like it is and I think it's hilarious as fuck.) - John Pinette (Made me comfortable with my weight, may he rest in peace.) - Craig Ferguson (The first five minutes of the Late Late Show always had me in stitches when I was still in high school.) - Ben Bailey (I've known about this guy's show 'Cash Cab', but didn't know until recently he also did stand up. He's actually quite funny.) - Jeff Foxworthy (I remember enjoying his tv show. He does good stand up too, and I'm ashamed to admit I can relate to many ''you might be a redneck if''s.) - Bill Engvall (More redneck comedy. I dig it.) - Jim Gaffigan - Robin Williams - Christopher Titus There's not much of a list for stand-up comedians I don't like, but I'm not a fan of Larry the Cable Guy despite being a fan of Foxworthy and Engvall. I just find his humor a little too degrading even for a redneck. And then there are comics who's humor relies on nothing but too much sex and belittling women.

I totally forgot Tosh. I knew I was forgetting someone. His show and stand up specials are hilarious and with me being a big fan of pro wrestling like he is I love it whenever he calls out Arn Anderson, "that's right, I'm calling you out Arn!"
