However, If we are talking about horror literature, rather than movies, I would have to go with Lovecraft as God. August Derleth and Stephen King could fight over the mEssiah position.

Tobe Hooper is Jesus and Clive Barker, Wes Craven, Tom Savini, Sam Raimi, and John Carpenter are his discipals
