I don't remember "The 9th Gate" being scary or anything, but it was suspenseful.
This was a pretty good movie, in my opinion. Though, I haven't seen it in like three years or so. |

I thought it just didn't bring enough to the table. Good atmosphere. European locales. Frank Langella. All those things are cool, but it was still profoundly dull and sort of a shallow exploration of all those things Polanski loves to rehash.
