Brilliant choices all around, guys. Without exception, each list included at least one title that made me wish I had included it on mine. Pumpkinhead? Night of The Demons? The Howling, Funhouse and Martin?? How could I forget?

I've done a quick calculation and it looks like we have an unofficial HDC MUST HAVE 15 films collection.

First of all, there were thirteen of us who contributed a list, myself included. Of the movies we've mentioned, here's the top fifteen. The number next to the title is the number of lists the movie appeared on.

Halloween - 9
Psycho - 7
Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 7
The Exorcist - 6
Night of the Living Dead - 6
Jaws - 6
A Nightmare On Elm Street - 6
Evil Dead - 5
The Thing - 5
Friday the 13th - 5
Frankenstein - 4
The Shining - 4
Alien - 4
The Haunting - 4
Poltergeist - 4

There are a few that are right on the cusp and I'm guessing if we get more posts, this list will definitely change, but for right now...man, we sure have great taste in horror films!!

Yes, I loveeeee Funhouse.

Kinda jelly you got to see it in the theatre.

As much as I love Halloween, IDK, Halloween 2's atmosphere was always more scary for me, personally. The elevator scene always gets to me, even though I know what's going to happen already.

...maybe I should just make another list just for sequels.
I had to take An American Werewolf in London off my list, just to fit Silver Bullet in! Maybe this list should have been 50 horror movies that must be in your collection. Then again where's the fun in that?

Nice, Repo! Interesting to see HDC's movies of choice listed out and tallied up. I certainly wouldn't take the time to do it. ^^;

I dunno, man, still might be a challenge.

It's always difficult to make best or must have lists. It's personal opinion versus what people feel are classic horror movies that are great. But many times I won't find myself always watching those movies that others think are great. Something like The Shining although very good wouldn't be in my 15. Also I would cheat a bit for series like this:

1. Halloween 1 & 2 (Originals), 3, & H20 - Even though I'm not crazy about Part 2, I can live with it and like some elements enough to own it. Same goes for H20 which I would add just because of Jamie Lee.

2. Alien & Aliens - The original is more horror but you really can't have the original and skip the sequel which is just as good.

3. Night of the Living Dead (Original and 1990) - Both are classics.

4. Friday the 13th Part 2, 6, 7 (maybe), 8, Jason X, & Freddy vs. Jason - I really hate that there isn't a classic Friday the 13th. Something comparable to Halloween. With the Friday the 13th videogame Kickstarter people are coming out talking about Jason and how much fun the game will be. But it's like people still don't realize that none of the Friday the 13th movies are on the level with Halloween or the original Nightmare on Elm Street. They are far from it to me which is a shame and this is coming from a Friday the 13th fan.

5. Nightmare on Elm Street (Original) & Part 4 - The original is a classic scary horror movie. And I love the 80s feel of Part 4.

6. The Ring (Original & Remake) - Both of these are very moody horror movies. I'm not sure which I prefer.

The rest I would have to think and I would probably go over 15. I'm already over if you don't count the above list as a group.

Friday the 13th never held my interest so I can understand what you mean. I haven't tried to rewatch since I was a kid. Most of my horror interests are still the same, except for knowing about/enjoying more of the 'bizarre' type of horror films. Maybe I shall rewatch it and see what I think...

I'm curious what you think about them if and when you watch them. They'll be like new movies since you haven't seen them in a while. Did you see the remake? A lot of people like that one. It's not one of my favorites at all.

No, I doubt I will. Shrug. Let's see what I think after watching Friday the 13th again.

That's one I need to rewatch. I actually saw the remake before the originals. I've rewatched the originals (parts 1, 2, and 3) multiple times while the remake only once. It has Jared Padalecki in it so at least it'll be worth watching to see him again.

There is no task too tedious, Roi, if it allows me to avoid the work I'm being paid to do.

So much truth there.
