I think it's because sometimes they look less professional and if you've got obvious piercings it kinda says that you're unreliable and could make trouble or something. One of my teachers last year actually pulled me out into the hallway to tell me that because I don't look like the "norm" I would have to work harder than everyone else to be accepted into society.

I have known teachers though to have nose rings but they kept them small studs that aren't as obvious. Just depends I guess.

I can understand why some ppl think 'piercings + tattoos' are unprofessional but my point was that in the case i was refering to that having your eyebrow pierced was ok but the lip wasn't...

Ohh okay. :] Well you never know, there's all kinds of crazy rules floating around so in one place liprings are a no and eyebrows are alright. Strange but you'll have that sometimes.

I am quite happy, and I hope he is, too...One of these days I'm gonna catch him with his hair down and get a really good, sexy picture...His hair is pulled back in that picture because it was at my sister's wedding (we don't dress that way normally :p), but his hair is probably longer than mine...It's damned close.

Why THANK YOU!!! Yes, I dyed my hair; took a LONG time to find a color I was happy with, too... I'm really happy with it. Thank you for the compliments. Will DEFINITELY keep dying it!!!I can't even BELIEVE that I kept my red (orange) hair for so long...It was the people at THIS FORUM who convinced me to dye it black...I wish I had started doing it when I was a teenager...I hate orange hair...I may ACT like a clown, but I don't wanna look like one.

OH, to jump into the tats and piercings conversation:

Seri can have all of the piercings she wants at her job, which was one of the reasons she chose to work there...It's interesting what some people consider important criteria when choosing a job...Seri has a couple of tattoos...Maybe she'll post pictures of them here (If I had any in my comp, I'D do it :p)...*nudge*

Dustin had to remove his earrings and eyebrow ring to work at the hotel, he still has his tongue piercing, tho.

Seri wanted to get her eyebrow pierced, but she said she can't because mine is pierced...Which I think is a silly deterrent...If she wants to do it, she should, no matter what anyone else does.

Oddly enough, it seems that people always take pictures of me from the side that doesn't show my eyebrow piercing...I need to get a good shot of it someday, cuz I really like it...It's a silver ring with a silver cross hanging from it...Seri snapped a picture last week while we were at White Castle's (from the wrong side as usual)...I cut this part out and blew it up, see if you can see the ring and the cross here:

In my avatar picture you can see something to the left of my left eye, but you can't tell that it's a cross...or even that it's an eyebrow ring.

Yeah there is clear 'retainers' but they can't pierce with those so you'll have to get pierced with steel and wait til it heals to replace it..

What kinda job lets you have an eye brow piercing and not a lip one?

I already had the eyebrow done when I started.They cant make me take it out but my new boss complains about it non stop.Plus my dad bitches about it all the time.

My dads thinks it looks unprofessinal and I'll never get a good job.Which is true but not because of the piercing but my horrible education.He acts like if I take it out some CEO of a fortune 500 company will stop by and make me president.

Correct - the Belt is TKD - the picture is kinda a joke about 'Key Board Warriors'.
I did used to do TKD (Black Belt) and Japanese Ju Jitsu (brown belt) for a long time....

But I did see the light and swtiched to BJJ/Muai Thai/MMA (well there was no BJJ here when I started JJJ). Haven't trained for a while but want to get back into it (Mixed martial arts that is)..

About Dustin, no worries, his jurisdiction doesn't extend beyond the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport :D

OH, but the white plastic badge that is not shown in the picture (it clips onto the other pocket), gives him the security clearance to escort the President, diplomats, and well, ANYONE...It's a felony federal offense to reproduce the badge in any way, otherwise I would have already scanned it and shown it to you guys because it's AWESOME!...I think it's okay for me to say that the top of the badge says 'Department of Homeland Security U.S. Customs and Border Protection'...This is why the background check process takes SOOO long, they are EXTREMELY thorough...Also not shown in the picture is his 2way radio that clips on, but that's because they have to turn those in at the end of the shift, of course.

He works 3rd shift, 11pm to 7am...That happens to be the busiest shift for airport security, in fact it's the only shift that the cafeteria is open, because it's the busiest...He has 3 positions that they switch him around on...

1) Mobile: That's driving around the airport making sure everything's cool, and responding to things when needed

2) Guard Shack: He has to stay in a booth-like thing and come out to search semi's and other vehicles as they drive through his checkpoint

3) I'm not sure what you would call this one, it's the one where he checks IDs, runs people through the metal detector, runs a wand over them if they beep, tells them to empty their pockets and runs their items through the x-ray machine...For the people who don't actually go through the regular process, he has to stand out on the tarmac and scan them as they are boarding the plane

During training they had to watch videos of what happens when a bomb goes off...It was pretty gruesome, especially the part where they were removing bodies from a diner that had been bombed by a terrorists...I really think this is to drive home the point that their jobs have to be taken very seriously

They make the tests tricky on purpose so that they can discuss what you missed, how you missed it, and what you have to look for...Different items show up as different colors on the x-ray scanners...Plastic, metal, wood, etcetera, they are different colors...For the x-ray test, you have to keep doing different ones until you don't miss any items...On Dustin's first test, he missed a bomb!...It was in a very dark area, and you could barely see anything at all...BUT, he found a meat cleaver and a speedloader...They showed him how easy it is to miss something, and how hard you really have to look at the dark areas...On his second test, he found every item...Some people have to do it 4 or 5 times, like I said, they make it tricky on purpose...They also told him that you can tell how good a bottle of wine is by its color...The darker the wine shows up on the screen, the better the wine, that was just an interesting aside.

It's a pretty exciting job and he loves it already :)

As for Seri, no worries because she's 21 now...AND...I would have been surprised if you HADN'T commented ;)

And Ash...Yes, he HAS gotten so big...He's 4 now and he's even tall for his age

Actually, when i fuck up i tend to just close my eyes. It's when i concentrate on playing something difficult i look pissed off. Coz.... that's just how i look.

yeah..that was one brilliant match indeed in this tournament. As Mike Hussy is continuing his incredible bating performance so they are now clear favorite in the final against England. Anyway, aside that semi final I think it was Bangladesh who gave a pretty good & close competition against Australia in this T20 WC!:o:D

So, I just so happen to live in Canada's oldest incorporated city, and this week was our 225th birthday/anniversary/whatever. They made a pretty big deal out of it, and I got to help out with the festivities as one of the Loyalists who signed the charter. Here's some shots of myself and cohorts:
