lasting impression

What short story have you read left a lasting impression on you?Mine was "SURVIVOR TYPE".It was written in the form of diary entries.A guy was the lone survivor of a shipwreck. He was stranded on a barren island. After a few days bundles of heroin started washing up on shore. One day the guy fell and broke his ankle while trying to kill a seagull for food.Well, the guy was in intense pain so he took the heroin to alleviate the pain. The foot wouldn't heal and the guy was starving so he cut his foot off and ate it. The entries in the diary become more and more incoherent as he falls deeper into insanity. The story ends abruptly after the guy consumes most of his body. It's been at least fifteen years since I read this story. It may have been written by King.

"Survivor Type"

Hell, yeah. *Great* story. And yes, it was written by King.

One of the most disturbing things I've ever read, to this day.
