Underrated Movie Sequels

Some movie sequels get a bad rap that may be undeserved. Sure there's bad sequels out there but some don't deserve to be lumped in with the bad ones. What are sequels you find underrated that deserve a better reputation? They don't have to be as good or better than the originals, just a good movie in general that deserves a better reception in your opinion.

Ghostbusters II and Predator 2 both come to mind. Always loved both as much as the originals.

When Alien: Resurrection came out I loved it and would defend it to the Death... That was in high school though and I haven't seen it since. I'm afraid to watch it now since everyone seems to hate it...

I am not a fan of Alien: Resurrection, but it wasn't bad per se. It was just very different. The director, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, has done many great films, but his surreal style of filmmaking was just an odd fit for the series.

Hmmm, I'd say that Subspecies 2/3 is underrated. I list them as a sequel because these films are just one split into two. I say it is underrated because I have never heard anybody mention this series ever.

Psycho II, Damien: Omen II and The Exorcist III are three that spring to mind. They are all overshadowed by the originals but are excellent films.

Amityville II: The Possession
Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Final Destination 2
Friday The 13th Part 2 and The Final Chapter
Hellbound: Hellraiser II
Class Of 1999
Ginger Snaps: Unleashed

Helloween III: Season Of The Witch... great film. Pity most people think it's a bad movie or can't get over Myers isn't in it. The original concept for Halloween was to have a different story/subgenre centered around the Halloween season. Could've been an interesting series in a similar style to American Horror Story but no people just wanted the same cookie cutter shit fed to them instead. Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers is overlooked too love how dark and violent the film is.

Hatchet III was a blast. I've preferred the sequels to the original.

Good call on Gingersnaps... I actually think both sequels are solid, the second one especially.

Oh, and I adored Hellboy II and enjoyed it more than the first movie.

The Exorcist II is so funky it's cool.

I always liked that film and never got why people didn't ... tons of great imagery.
I think folks wanted to see the same exact thing again, but were given something radically different and couldn't deal with it.

There are a few titles that i believe deserve more attention

Psycho II (although I will admit that the ending is unintentionally funny. If only they'd chosen a different sound effect)
Alien 3
Halloween III season of the witch
child's play 3
Return of the Living dead 3
The exorcist 3
Demons 2
Beyond re-animator
Wes craven's new nightmare
Land of the dead
The omen 2
Hellraiser 2
Friday the 13th VI Jason lives
