Hi Thar!

Yo! I am new here. My story in brief: I am an author with one epic fantasy under my belt (published that is, I've written umpteen dang novels). I've been crazy for monsters since I was a kid but for some reason considered "horror" to be something different. Over the years I realized how dynamic the "horror" genre is and I have finally come out as a Horror Fan!

My tastes lean toward (1) Monsters, especially giant ones & 1950's sci-fi flicks; I'm a huge Universal Monsters fan (2) Dark Fantasy/SF along the lines of HP Lovecraft, Clive Barker, Alan Moore, and Stephen King stuff like The Talisman, Dark Tower, The Stand (original version) (3) "Twist-ending/suspense" ala Twilight Zone, Dark Shadows, Night Gallery and all those great old short stories, especially from the 20's, 30's & 40's (4) Body/Biological horror; this has to be really well done, I especially like it when it acknowledges those elements in folklore, primitive myth etc. (5) Gothic, haunting stories (not big on Victorian-era Gothic tho), great old-fashioned ghost stories (The Girl In The Swing & The Woman In Black are two examples) and all that sort of thing.

I'm not big on zombies or vampires. I *do* enjoy a lot of Dracula films tho, especially the 1992 film by Francis Coppola. I don't like slasher, splatter or many "psychological thrillers". Gimme monsters & imagination :)

I'm actually writing my first horror novel & I'm interested in seeing what readers are interested in, or tired of. My book is contemporary, humorous & erotic with monster mayhem & action but gradually extends out into more mythological/psychedelic fantasy. I think it's gonna be good :)

So, that's me. Feel free to recommend books, movies, whatever.
